Hey there everyone! Got a question for you. Lately I've been seeing a lot of Art Contests pop up. The sort where you have to produce artwork some sort, to some predefined theme or content.

At current, events like this would fall under the "Gift Entry Only" of our current group TOS, and thus would be ineligible for journal advertisement. but would be welcome in the shout-box.

My question is, should we include that sort of content in our advertisements? Yes or no, and under what conditions if any?

Well, I think I've pretty much run out of reasonable excused for hiatuses at this point, so I'll just leave it at "personal stuff" and say I am genuinely sorry that I was gone so long. =(

I'm currently trying to get in touch with the person I was previously working with to make this group more automated, so it wouldn't go down completely when I do. If possible, I still want to make that work! Though it may not be as feasible as I'd like due to changes made to FA since the major DDOS incidents. If we can't make that work, I'm at least going to overhaul the submission forum as much as I can.

Either way, this group's prosperity it going to have to rely on the users much more than me if it's going to survive. Previously, about 90% of posted content was submitted by myself. Of the other 10%, over half I had to edit for form and syntax before it could be posted. Not sure if that was due to people not paying attention to the formatting guide on the submission forum or me simply not making things clear enough. ^^; In any case, I just can't dedicate that amount of time consistently anymore. Sometimes I can, but not most of the time, which is why we keep running into hiatuses like these.

As such, the writing you've come to expect from me is sadly going to become much more formulaic. Sorry to disappoint anyone who appreciated the personality and flavor I brought to those ads. I think we can all agree that more bland listings are better than none at all, right? Not quite sure how it's going to pan out just yet, we'll see what the coder I was working with has to say.

In the meantime, I'm going to try and get updates running again by hand and at least once a week. Once a more permanent solution is in place, update frequency may be more often! But it's going to depend a lot on how much content ALL OF YOU manage to find and submit. I'll still be doing what I can to submit myself, but it just can't be mostly me anymore. I know there's a lot of you out there who want this sort of group to succeed! So if you have the time, submit the events you find in your own watch lists. I know I and every one of us will appreciate it. ^_^

So here's the thing. Until now, I've been specifically avoiding advertising Kiriban giveaways. In my personal opinion, they're a category apart from raffles in that they tend to reward the patient and diligent refreshers with plenty of free time more than at random. But upon someone submitting one to the form for advertisement, I realized it's not really fair for me to make that decision. Especially since I'm admittedly biased against them.

So here's my question for all of you all: Should we add Kiribans to our repertoire, and a category for them on the submission form? You decide!

Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it? Really sorry to ll of you for the inactivity.

For those of you not watching my personal page and thus haven't seen the news, I was out of commission for about two and a half weeks due to a super nasty upper respiratory infection. And since I couldn't take the time off work to recover, I was completely wiped out the whole time. X_X I'm doing my best to catch up, and I'm hoping to have a new raffle journal up tomorrow night.

That having been said... with all the unexpected hiatuses lately, I think it's time to admit that I just can't effectively run this group on my own anymore. I'm keeping up as best I can, when I can, but IHOR really needs another cook in the kitchen. Not sure yet how I'll handle that, in terms of choosing a co-mod and such. But if there's anyone interested who has the time and passion to dedicate to helping the raffle community grow, shoot me a note and let me know! I'm very sorry for the absence. Between trying to coordinate things with my own raffle and a sudden increase in workload at my day job, this place has sadly fallen by the wayside. Hopefully that will be rectified soon. I'm planning to get a new content post up tonight or tomorrow.

That having been said, IHOR has grown significantly since I started the group back in November, and my free time has greatly shrunk. All in all, I still rely mostly on my own efforts to gather raffle content, and that takes a significant amount of time. I could really use some help in keeping everything active here. I'm not sure I'm ready to hand over the reigns in terms of a co-moderator, but any and all of you could help by finding raffle content and submitting it to the Google form here! Any content helps, and please don't worry about something being submitted to the form more than once. It's orders of magnitude less work to filter out a few duplicates than it is to submit a new entry. And posting entries here takes very little time when they're already submitted to the form.

With a little help, we can maintain the usual twice-per-week updates. With a lot of help, we could start updating even more often! There's only so much I can do on my own. Its all of you who make this place great! It's all of you, who could make this place even greater~
