Posted 8 years agoI have decided to change my artistname for music.
It has been a long journey of searching for names, but this time it is final.
"Starscapes" is the name I have chosen and I am quite confident about it.
I like it's meaning and I think it will represent my future music well.
I have decided not to create new separate accounts.
I don't care if thats an innovative name or if its easy to remember, I just want to give my music a connecting name.
What my "artistname insanity" has told me is that there is no perfect name and that I should just settle on one and focus on my music.
For you this change hopefully is no problem, its just that my future content now is posted under a different name.

I have been to Germany for about a week to visit a friend I have known over the internet for about 5 years now.
It's a really weird feeling to stand in front of eachother for the first time ever, but it was interesting to see how we were behaving
in real life. To be honest, I think I was able to imagine his personality quite accuratly. I was unsure if I should do it,
but I think that in the end this journey has helped me open up my mind a little more and break free from the
blinding circle that is the "daily routine". I saw an interesting and beautiful city, met an old/new friend and had some time off.
I am also thinking about writing a journal on why I am a furry and what it means to me.
I kinda want to clear up some things about what interests me and what doesnt, so people get a better picture
on how I see this weird but fascinating fandom. Since this is a quite deep and interesting topic, it might take a while
for me to put something together. I'll probalby try to write something tomorrow. Even though its very personal
I think it doesnt hurt to write it out. Its not going to make it any weirder to outsiders - actually, I think it might
even be helping people to understand what reason one could have to join such a strange fandom. ^^

I have started using Spotify and made some playlists!

This is my "personal mix", a playlist dedicated to mostly groovy, melodic, relaxing tracks - not too stressing but also far from tiring. :)
I am pretty picky about whats going in there and I hope it carries over the mood I like to be in ^^
Its - as the name already gives away - a playlist full of music that fits my personal taste very well.
I have just begun assembling tracks, so expect a lot more music to be added over the next weeks and months.
Of course this is not the only playlist I have created - you can find all the others (Electro, Chill, DnB...) by clicking on
my username and checking out my public playlists. I am not too accurate about genres though,
I just vaguely sort them to fit the style of the other tracks in the playlist. ^^

Posted 8 years agoToday I finally managed to get everything working in terms of music software.
Also, I have only 3 days of "dishwashing" left.
Which means I am quite positive that soon I can start making music the way I used to again. :D
Switching to a much newer version and having had some software problems was really annoying over the last months.
But now it seems everything is in place again. I cant wait, I think I am going to do a nightshift ^^

Posted 8 years agoIts 1 am here and as always I figured that that's a great time to write a journal. My poor sleepcycle... wait.. I have none xD
Well, to get to the topic, its been 3 months of me making next to no music at all.
That has a bunch of different reasons.
First: The job I am working at is very tiring. Its basically dishwashing.
And they dont say "from a dishwasher to a millionaire" for nothing.
That will change though, because with the end of April I can finally move on from that.
Second: I made changes in the way I work on music, bought a piece of software
that changed a lot for me. I am also going to buy a synth soon. Then I am set up with everything I needet lately.
Third: I am still trying to figure out a better name for my internet persona. As of now, most of my
accounts were opened on the name "kacktusman". That is not a good name. Its not something you'll remember,
its not representing the style of music I want to make nor is it representing my interests and to top it off its
really stupid if you know german and figure out what my 14 year old self came up with back then.
To this problem, I still dont have a solution. This step is really important for me though...
I dont really want to make bigger steps with this name. I want to change it as soon as possible.
But I still cant decide. It should be something thats not out there 1000000 times already, something i can relate to...
I guess I'll have to figure this one out on my own.. Its really... REALLY hard for me to find one or two words to describe my music and myself.
Maybe I should not take it to serious... but I cant loose the feeling this needs to be done right...
I hope to start making a lot of music again soon. Through summer, I want to increase my "production" a lot.
But those last 3 months were just terrible, and I am sorry I didnt get myself to do more.
Ill try my best to get back on track soon ^^
I guess thats my status update for now. If you read all this, you deserve a cookie.
People like you really keep me going and pushing myself. Thank you for that :)

As always, I'll just leave some random thoughts...
And some music!
Sometimes it seems like people have disappeared completly.
Just today I visited an old youtube channel I watched unitl 5 years ago.
And even though his youtube channel and all other social media accounts
were inactive, almost like he completly abandoned it, I found a stream on twitch
recorded just a month ago were he explained that he just didn't have much time.
Its strange with the internet. Although stuff that is uploadet once might never ever disappear again,
a person can be gone so quickly. I had played with a friend for 3 years just using Minecraft and Skype
and I never thought about what would happen if for example his PC stopped working. I would not have
had any other way to contact him for who knows how long. (I still have contact though) But its a strange feeling.
Same thing with myself. I didnt upload much the last 3 months. Still I am logging into all
my accounts almost everyday... Only things like my favorites would give a hint that I am actually still here.
And who knows what happens when I start going to a university this year...
The internet has become a really big part of the world, but sometimes we seem to forget that
its not something to take for granted. Without Internet, we all would be sent back in time.
I dont even want to talk about what happens when the power goes out.
Its really weird to think about this... but its something that we should not forget...

Finally got some more music done, after a long time of emptyness x)
The last month was really uncreative for me. Even though I got to do some stuff,
it was all about dragging myself to keep working on it.
Yesterday I started a little loop, that wasnt all that special at first,
but when I gave it some more time today, it turned out very nice. At least in my oppinion! x)
Had a really good workflow this time and it was a lot of fun to try out all kinds of different sounds.

I ->LOVE<- dreamy chords and nice funky leads. Thats probably my best way to describe my favorite type of music xD
It just gets me into an awesome daydreaming mood. I always try to visualize the music in my head or
think of crazy places and whatsoever... The little kid in me wishes something epic would happen to
be able to hold up with the awesome music... Just sitting there and listening feels wrong...
The first track I heard from him is probably "Easy", a collaboration with Porter Robinson (who is awesome too).
I just cant get enough from those chords, I love the synths... the vocals... that vocoder bit is great...
Only thing that I'd change is that noisy "main part". I know that "whoosh" effect is probably cool when played live,
but for listening to it alone it just takes away the clean sound...
But damn those chords... so relaxing... so dreamy... such wow...
There is also a really beautiful animation made for it, which you can watch on youtube...
But for this journal I chose the soundcloud version of Mat Zo's Account, since I like it better...

I didn't listen to all of his old trance stuff yet, but both of his newer albums "Damage Control" and "Self Assembly" are awesome.
Damage Control has more of a funky/chill vibe to it, Self Assembly goes a bit darker with distortion and a mood change.
If you have the time, maybe for drawing or relaxing, put on one of the albums... I recommend "Damage Control" first ;)
Some of his stuff needs you to get used to it, but after you are, you cant let go of it...

What I like about this one, is the way it changes after the first half, to a powerful dubstep track ^^

It fits my mood at the moment. I'm kind of "angry how boring life can be" sometimes. I just don't see too many options

Over the last year my sleeping cycle has become more and more of a sleepingrandomness.
Buuut you are not here for my sleeping habits, so lets get to my music recommendation :P
I found this track yesterday, pretty randomly actually and I really like it.
You might know it already, since it is uploadet on a pretty big music channel ;)

Don't really know how to describe it... It just has this really awesome vibe. I like the vocals, also the vocal cutting in the main sections.
It's just really well made and more than enjoyable ^^ I hope you like it just as much as I do.

2# Favourite musical artist?
Posted 10 years agoHey, its me again ^^ Today I want to talk about favourite artists.
Thats not really easy to decide, but I'll try to keep it accurate ^^
So if someone would ask me who my favourite (musical) artist is, I'd probably say Daft Punk.
Why? Well... First of all, I am obsessed with their helmets, the whole "robots from space" theme.
The design of their Helmets and "suits" just looks awesome, In particular "Guy Manuel's" Helmet.
But apart from their appearence, their music has been defining my taste from the first time I heard them ^^
That doesn't mean I liked all of their tracks, not at all. For a while I couldn't really work with the sound of their Album "Homework" for example.
"RAM" also had fewer tracks I liked. It seemed a bit to "normal" for me.
On the other side, I like pretty much every track from "Discovery" (probably my favourite album ever, with their movie etc.) and "Human after all".
Especially Discovery, for its funky style, the awesome samples, the overall sound.. Interstella 5555 is awesome.. It just makes me fell happy.
Also, I love their talkbox/vocoder voice so much! D:
