Update
Posted 10 years agoHey, sorry I haven't updated you guys, had a rough week with job and family health emergencies.
So update, commissions are being worked on, working on a sketch that will probably be updated today or tomorrow, one that's way overdue, and then it's on to completing the smaller little thumbnail ones.
I really just need to stop letting stuff get me down and affect me as badly as it does. *slaps face and breathes deep* OK, time to dive back in.

Internet Mystery: SUper Turbo Atomic Mega Rabbit
Posted 10 years agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvqXRFPU_aQ
I googled to try and find info on this.. yielding up an apparent "animation cel" from the show... http://i.imgur.com/Wsre5DZ.jpg
And this strange ebay auction the thermos supposedly dating 1991..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Super-.....mp;rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Here's the clues I've gathered so far... this HAS to have been done in the UK, seeing as the accent for the theme song has a bit of a British accent to it, and the eBay auction listing it in GBP.
Goddammit internet. REVEAL YOUR SECRETS!

Thoughts...
Posted 10 years agoA lot of unanswered questions, and morbid curiosity begs me to ask.
FA costs are roughly $2000 a month, $24k annually. If say, IMVU bought FA for $100k, (I'm assuming, could be less or more)
So for the first year of ownership, it's going to cost IMVU $124k, since we're adding maintenance costs as well as the initial purchase price.
FA gets money from ad rev, which, I highly HIGHLY doubt Bad Dragon or any other people buying adspace on here is paying $2k a MONTH for ad space. We're looking at unlimited gallery space, which means we're seeing a glut on resources by artists, FOR FREE, mind you.
As it sits, artists are using FA, for free. That's dangerous considering the more artwork uploaded here, the more resources it's gonna suck up, with absolutely no contribution to maintenance costs whatsoever.
As a business thing, how exactly is IMVU going to monetize this website in order to get a decent ROI?
Dragoneer's communication and personal issues aside, I'm speaking in terms of a numbers thing.
As a venture capital owned company, IMVU HAS to find a way to get this site generating income, or risk having this site shut down, or get revamped into something like their other business models.
I can only speculate how, but I can see implementations of VIP upgrades / caps on maximum amount of uploads, paid content access, or charging everyone a flat maintenance fee to keep their accounts running on this site. But, again, that's speculation, but it's fair to say that the current business model of FA doesn't work, and SOMETHING has to give.
Also, if artists are worrying about art theft, they should be more worried about user search history and personal information / private messages being handed over to law enforcement.

On the Sale of FurAffinity to IMVU
Posted 10 years agoFirst off, keeping this under wraps from the community until now, pretty dick move and flies in the face of "open community".
To be fair, I understand why, server costs as well as tax / fees / maintenance costs can't be shouldered by ONE person, donation drives go only so far.
As far as terms of sale goes, the terms of sale is between purchaser and purchasee, if IMVU wants to use my content, they need my EXPLICIT consent in order to gain said rights. This is where the DMCA can actually rule in your favour, fellow artists. Understand that until FA throws up a page that's "click to agree to the new terms of service" simply using the service is not consent, you HAVE to agree to the new terms. If the new terms mean IMVU wishes to use my content, then I expect a fucking royalty cheque in the mail on a monthly basis. So far from my understanding, IMVU basically agrees to use the content on the site as display / hosting purposes only.
Does this mean I trust IMVU? Fuck no. But I'm not going to start overreacting anytime soon. If, and only if they start making me explicitly express my consent to do anything will I decide when to pull my content from this site.

Using an iPad or Android Tablet as 3rd Display
Posted 11 years agoWas wondering if anyone has used their tablet as a third display for which to throw their menu buttons and the like on, and if so, which software do you use?

IN A WORLD....
Posted 11 years agoWhere Manga Studio, Paint Tool Sai, Illustrator, and Photoshop, had an all out messy gangbang and ended up pregnant, the end result would be.....
Clip Studio Paint Pro. DO ALL THE ARTS
So yes, I bought Clip Studio Paint Pro, because it's right now on sale for $15, and I must say it is an AMAZING tool, the amount of options for scaling and editing your vectorized linework, being able to cull crossed over edges with ease, being able to lay down perspective lines, AND being able to import 3D models to pose and use as drawing guides when doing artwork so your proportions are actually legit correct is... amazing.
Not to mention it works with Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai as well. Colour me impressed, just fiddling around with it for an hour made me giddy with glee.
And yes, it's normally a $50 USD software, but on sale for $15. The only difference with PRO and EX, is that EX allows you to combine all your pages of a comic you're working on in a book, it will rasterize into lineart 3D scenes, and allow formatting for book printing, even that one is on sale for $87 right now, reg price is $220.
Tomorrow I think I will start streaming and show off the program and some of the neat little features if anyone is interested.

I see everyone using Paint Tool Sai, where do I get it?
Posted 11 years agoWhat title says.. trying to figure out if it's worth buying, yay or nay, and if so, where I would get it from.
Although if someone throws me a "grey market" version, I'll be OK with that too.

Happy Shitty Birthday
Posted 11 years agoSo... lost my sketchbook with my art in it, had to break up a fight with my parents, dealing with tough financial decisions, like... BIG ones, and then having to perform CPR on a dog for 15 minutes, without success.
On my birthday.
Now the mother of the dog who died is feeling.... unwell and yeah.
I want to curl up in a ball and just... vanish

Hey All, Selling my Wacom Intuos 4
Posted 11 years agoIt has served me well over the years but since I got a CIntiq, it now needs a new owner who can make use if it's potential.
I got it back in December of 2009, so it's served me really well. It's missing the mouse, but all the nibs, wacom pen, pen stand, tablet, and USB cable is all there.

Update
Posted 11 years agoYe God it's been a while... but yes.. update.
I work on a farm now.
Yep. And apparently, I have been designated to "horse whisperer" and even made the jaws of a boarder drop.
There are 5 mares that haven't had any human handling in 9 years, they're free fed round bales of hay, and... yeah that's pretty much it. So I go out there, because I've been tasked to groom them, and while they were skittish at first, I let them smell me, and just hang around me. Two of the mares decide I'm hot shit and follow me everywhere, and just stand still while I groom them, brushing them from head to tail, even letting me groom spots where gunk gets stuck with no problems. Two have allowed me to walk up to them while they're laying down and pet them, one even rolled onto her side for me to scratch her belly.
Apparently I had an audience, because I look over and I see one of the boarders, whose jaw is dropped, she apparently tried grooming them and they won't go anywhere near her, but for some reason the mares are OK with me. Even the farm owner commented they've taken a shine to me. Both of them now have designated me as a "horse whisperer"....

I found a Bob Ross Simulator!
Posted 11 years agoThis program is actually officially called a "Fluid dynamics based painter" but I call it the Bob Ross Simulator, it basically uses your hardware and OpenGL to calculate fluid dynamics for painting, and it does it fairly well. This video right here explains some of the newer features added, and if you want to skip to where he goes all Bob Ross on us... it's at the 8:16 Mark

SOPA 2.0 is back, called Notice and Stay Down
Posted 11 years agoPretty much it's word for word SOPA, under a new name and new tactic.
From my understanding they're trying to utilize vague components of the DMCA to kinda "inject" the Notice and Stay Down clause into the DMCA. Either way, it's... insidious, because under the current wording, copyright violation with non-commercial intent would be considered criminal.
FAN ART, FICTION, AND FAN MUSIC COVERS WOULD BE CONSIDERED CRIMINAL
Not only that they're trying to implement this under the Trans Pacific Partnership, which would mean not just the US would get affected but other countries that are under the umbrella of the TPP as well.
FUCK there goes my mood.

Copyright law is why there has been no new IPs as of late and it's the same goddamn thing over and over and over again.

Horse People... Answer Me This
Posted 11 years agoWhen dealing with stallions, or even geldings, do you think it's ever right to kick them in the penis if they're letting it all hang out?
I've been talking to a few horse people, got in an argument with one because I disagreed with her. They tell me it's because you don't want the stallion getting too "studly" with you, otherwise he will try and mount you instead.
I don't know but I find it... a very... unpleasant, if not horrifying tactic to use against stallions. To those who have stallions in their care, or are familiar with them, do you think this tactic is ethical?

Drama about fur affinity? Noooooooooooo, really?
Posted 12 years agoYeah, I don't know about the ZAush drama, nor do I really care about his personal issues, his art is favorable and fap worthy, that's really all I know. The site redesign, or Phoenix, looks.... cluttered. I am not a fan of it and would prefer an update on a simpler minimalist design which would be easier on the eyes, features like bring able to filter the art you want to see via tags would be amazing. Being able to have an FA app on Android or ios? Yes please.
Rather than doing a complete site visual overhaul, how about some useful features first BEFORE screwing up the site layout? Or taking input from others regarding usability and functionality would be nice too.
I'm not leaving FA because of this, it would be immature to do so without any hard evidence of incompetent management, but I am preparing a contingency plan, plus since 90 percent of my art isn't porn,I should be good for more mainstream sites like deviant art.
Judging from his posts though h4 remind me of when I worked with someone on BattleStar Galactica. There was a reason many had decided to unionize, or quitduring that time.

Holy crap, an FA Journal Update!
Posted 12 years agoWell.. it's been a while, and I apologize for the lack of updates. There have been plenty of things going on in my life that have just been overburdening, and no offense, having RL friends and family in times of need has more weight than online commentary in a journal. Though to my friends and those who have sought to comfort me, I thank you, it does help.
I'll probably be updating my FA gallery soon, it's just dealing with stuff.

Art Theft: And Why Many Artists Use That Term Incorrectly
Posted 13 years agoSo... I've been seeing a few posts that show people "stealing" art. Or rather, taking their artwork and using the artists' proportioning and posing to create art of their own.
See, I don't consider this art theft. Why? Because they're not stealing. If you run out of ideas for a pose, and you look to photos online for poses for art, is that considered art theft? I don't think so.
Our composition of art has been borrowing or stealing ideas from somewhere else. Renaissance period artists borrowed heavily from nature in order to create their works. Is that considered "theft from nature"?
If someone wants to use my work as a reference and trace over, I really don't care. I consider it an honour that you would use my art as something good enough to use as a jumping point for your own work. To me, art theft is basically taking someone's artwork, erasing the signature, and then posting it up online and saying "yup, I did that." That's art theft. When all you do is swap out colour schemes, erase the signature, and claim it as your own, that's art theft. When you take the time to trace over my work in an attempt to emulate my style, I don't consider that theft. If it helps you in the creation of YOUR own style, then by all means go for it.
But, that's just me.
