i miiiiiight change my display name to my actual name, just people know it's me if they've seen me around elsewhere.
but i will never change my @. someone contacted me recently about art i made when i was literally 17 that linked to this account, and it made me realize that having that unbroken connection to the past is valuable after all. i would've changed my name a long time ago if i could've, but "irrisorie" is a relic from my childhood and it would feel very strange to cast it off now.
idk. i guess i value holding onto that little bit of my past self emerging into the present day some 15+ years after the fact more than anything else.

if you want to know the story behind the username "irrisorie," i am notoriously bad at picking names and always have been. when i was a kid, i needed to come up with a name to use as my identity online, and since i couldn't think of anything, i resorted to using a "latin translator" to come up with something. this was before google translate's latin language existed (it being a mere 3 years old at the time), so i used some random website that came up if you searched "latin translator." i only found out many years later that it was complete garbage, and the word "irrisorie" isn't latin. what i wanted it to mean was "ridiculous." it was meant to be a self-disparaging joke, like nicknaming yourself Boo Boo The Clown in a round-about way.

however, sticking it into google translate now, it spits out a translation of "negligible" from, apparently, italian. so maybe it is a real word. i really have no idea.

hey all, i have to use my laptop very carefully right now, because the connector for the charging cable doesn't always connect, which runs down the battery, and then 3 different times the battery discharged down to 1% while at 20-30%. i'm worried that my laptop may become unusable from the battery dying.

unfortunately, it's very expensive to get this sort of thing fixed, because the battery itself costs at least $60 (maybe more if it's genuine, i have no idea), and then i have to take it to a computer tech to get it installed because i have zero confidence i could do it myself without causing damage.

besides all that, we always need help with rent and groceries, so it's basically like, i can only get this done if i set aside money (that we always need for bills) to fix this thing. i'm kind of worried that i'm never going to get it fixed and i'll just have a perfectly good laptop i can't use because it has a fucked battery/charger/whatever.

so, i'm going to try to earn money with commissions. it's the only thing i can do, really.
by the way, i have a "pay what you can" option for commissions, because i know that everyone is broke right now. just tell me how much you're willing to pay, and i can tell you what that translates to as a commission. if you have $30, i can do you a sketch, and etc.

the one upside to this is that i have plenty of supplies to do traditional art, and i prefer drawing on paper anyway. if it came down to it, i can use my friend's laptop to make edits or draw digitally. if you do request a commission, i'll probably be drawing it on paper anyway (unless you specifically request that you want it drawn digitally, or if i feel it's too complicated/would take too long to draw on paper, so it would just be more convenient to draw it digitally).

also, i forgot to mention that payment plans are available through paypal invoice. i just need a timeframe of when you can send payments.
since ko-fi sends me the money upfront, i prioritize those commissions first. but i still prefer to finish (or mostly finish) the work before getting paid just to ease my own anxiety somewhat.

i can work pretty fast, especially if the queue is empty. like, it should take me a week or less, usually less.
also, i will draw porn commissions, it's just not really what people follow me for, so y'know. but just saying, lol. though, if you did want me to draw porn, i would probably draw it in my more semi-realistic style, rather than cartoony (check my NSFW folder for reference). unless you prefer the cartoony vibe, it's up to you obviously.

last year my mental health was in the toilet and i didn't really get to do as much as i wanted and it sucked.
ever since i joined AF i focused heavily on drawing return attacks and treating it like art trades instead of a game.
this year i do not have the mental energy to even attempt to do return attacks. i am going to participate solely to have fun and will be choosing to draw stuff based on that criteria alone.
