Poor Kitty
General | Posted 9 years agoMy 14 year old rescued kitty had to have her eye removed yesterday - got to bring her home today.
She won't let me give her her pain meds at all - no way and the way she jerks when I try, makes me afraid to keep trying in case i do injury.
Her son and her were fighting a lot before and I think he might have injured her in the eye. The vet said the infection could have blocked off and destroyed the eye.
She now has the eye lid stitched closed.
Right now, she is bleeding a bit from her nose - awe.
The vet said this would happen due to draining.
She is the sweetest cat I have ever known.
She will be winking forever now and sweet as ever.
I finally got her meds into her, hidden in some fish cat food - she ate it!!!
Three more days with meds to go.
Hopefully she cooperates for them.
Update:
She seems to be healing nicely and is very affectionate.
For some reason she is scratching the back of her ears.
I put a soft dome of shame on her for a day and a half before she got it off.
I will leave it off for a day to see if she leaves the ears alone.
She is taking her medicine like a pro, hidden in her canned food.
Tonight is the last dose of pain meds - yea.
Update:
Mandy had to go back to the vet - she had an allergy to one of the meds she was on.
Her ears were bare as well as her good eye (which was inflamed).
They gave her a steroid shot which seems to be clearing up the irritation.

Midwest Fur Fest
General | Posted 9 years agoJust graduated from an Administrative course.
My daughter, Caltroplay, attended the graduation with me. Then I dropped her off at her friend's place. They are headed to to Midwest FurFest tomorrow.
You can find her in the Artist Alley.
Do drop by and say hi to her.
And have a great time.
Let me know if you run into her.

I finally finished it!
General | Posted 10 years agoI have been working on this head for about six months inbetween commissions.
I finally finished it.
There were lots and lots of hours put into it.
I have wanted to do one of these for over a year and now I have.
I love it.
I am taking photos of it right now and will post it as soon as I can get them onto the computer.

I believe I almost got scammed
General | Posted 10 years ago"I believe I almost got scammed"
A Wolf character commissioned me to construct a custom Partial Fur Suit for him.
It had concerned me because he had approached me before 3 times in the past two years to commission this costume, but backed out before it came to the payments. Even once I had advised him to wait because he had stated he had financial problems and an incoming baby. He agreed, so I did not expect him to approach me again.
On January 24, 2016 he approached me again for the costume.
Wolf had, now four times, read and agreed to my terms of service.
I explained that there would be a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of the total price. Then there would be a middle payment and the final payment with the shipping costs was due on the completion of the commission
I explained the terms again and he agreed.
When he put the deposit and the first payment into Pay Pal, I thought he was sincere.
Things went smoothly at first, he did contact me a quite a bit more often than the usual commissioner, but I thought it was because it was a new venture and he was excited. But as I got deeper into the project and working on the parts, I had less time to devote to the computer. He seemed to get anxious by this, and I explained that the project would not be instantly completed, including the information about how I was working constantly on the parts I can while waiting for the materials to arrive in the mail. I told him I wouldn’t be answering as many emails because of this, but that I would send photos as I finished things.
Then, a couple of days later, he sent me a harsh email saying he had filed disputes and claims with Pay Pal for the full amount of money he paid. He said he didn’t have time to wait on my email replies because he was very busy.
The fabric had just came in so I sent him photos of the furs and I sent him photos of what I had done so far, and asked him to if he wanted to continue. He said he did, and was back in conversation with me throughout the week, but did not reset the funds, and went silent whenever payment were brought up.
I emailed him telling him if he wanted to go ahead with the costume let me know by, and gave him a deadline.
Then he emailed me, trying to play on my sympathies, stating that he was going ahead with both the claims, for all the payments including the deposit, because he had to pay his mom’s bills because she was ill.
I contacted Pay Pal stating my case and his emails became demanding.
The next day, Pay Pal ruled in my favour.
Now that my funds were no longer on hold, I promptly refunded Wolf his payment but not the non-refundable deposit. This was my obligation.
He was furious and proceeded to Appeal with Pay Pal stating we were not communicating at all.
I replied to Pay Pal and the next day they once again ruled in my favour.
I've managed to win the case, but I wanted to post this as warning to other people. I would also like to post an artist beware, I'm just trying to find out how.
If a steampunk grey and black toonie wolf contacts you, please beware.
To the people requesting a commission – please please please read and ask many questions about the Terms of Service until you fully understand them.

I saw the planets this morning in the east sky today
General | Posted 10 years agoI saw the planets this morning in the east sky today.
Venus, Jupiter and Mars are supposed to be visible in a row in the morning eastern sky today and tomorrow. Also, maybe Mercury may be visible on the horizon.
I saw Venus and Jupiter.
I haven’t seen Mars yet but I will look again closer to sunrise.
I don’t think I will be able to see mercury because I can’t see the actual horizon (better on the water they say).
They are all supposed to be in a row.
Mars is supposed to be in the middle of the other two.
If you missed it, you are supposed to be able to see them tomorrow before sunrise also.
A few weeks ago, I saw the total eclipse of the red moon.
That required a lot of patience because of the sporadic cloud cover.
When there was only one quarter visible, I went in because the clouds were thick.
I watched on-line to see when the total eclipse was supposed to happen and went back out at that time.
The clouds in that area had cleared and the eclipse was clearly visible.
The moon seemed to look more 3-D when the glow was coming from behind.
It resembled a large red ping pong ball suspended way up high.
I don’t know what it is about viewing the odd special event in the sky like a solar or lunar eclipse, but it makes me excited like a kid.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t ever want to go out there, but I just really enjoy getting the chance to see them from here.
Nope, could only see the two.

Just finished a full suit
General | Posted 10 years agoI just finished a full suit.
It was delayed because of the repair needed after the flooded basement but I worked on it between doing the basement.
I am happy to see it finished and can hardly wait to see how his new owner will react when he sees it.
I will post a photo tomorrow.

What a Mess!
General | Posted 10 years agoLast Monday night at 3:00am my daughter came running upstairs screaming for me to help her get her computer out of the basement – the basement was flooding. On my way down, I looked out of the window to see what looked like the underside of a waterfall coming from the eaves troughs – so much rain they couldn’t handle it. The water was covering the road and up the lawn. Downstairs, the water was up just above my ankles. We got the computer upstairs as well as the game systems but a lot of other stuff was in the water/sewage. Things were floating around in this foggy water with what looked like soot in it. Yes, it was bubbling out of the toilet and the shower as well as the drain in the floor. My daughter more or less lives down there so she was totally put out including her cats.
My daughter’s friends have been incredible in helping us clean and letting her stay with them. We have most of the cleaning finished and a great amount of our belongings are out on the deck covered with several tarps. Other items that need to be washed or wiped off are out on the lawn. There is a pile of large things at the curb and a bunch of large garbage bags full in the drive way - all garbage. We have to figure out how to get rid of that. A great deal of bleach and disinfectant has been used on everything that has come in contact with the water.
As you guessed, we do not have insurance any more. Many of people on our street were flooded and now have crews in all of their laneways every day. I think all of them are at the construction stage now.
We still have a bit more cleaning to do and then the drywall removal.
After everything is clean and very dry, we can redo the dry wall and put it back together.
Oh oh, did I tell you it is raining today and is supposed to tomorrow also? Even if it doesn’t get into the house or onto the stuff on the deck – there is the humidity factor.
What a mess!

Fate
General | Posted 10 years agoIt's a good thing the Dragon's ride to the con this weekend fell through.
She had a serious Gall Bladder attack Sat. night.
She is set to get it sugically removed on Apr 16 and she didn't want to do "the wait" in emergency last night, so she rolled around and cried and screamed a lot for over an hour until the medication she took finally kicked in. Everything was left up to her as to what she wanted to do.
She finally got the pain to ease and fell asleep. She seems to be ok today except for some tenderness.
Hopefully that doesn't happen again before the scheduled surgery.

This one is going to be a very special one
General | Posted 10 years agoI am working on a new partial. It is a realistic lion. I have the resin head finished. I just have to add the details to it – tomorrow. Today, I have been working on the mane. Last Halloween, I purchased some wigs at a great price (different colours). Yesterday, I researched how to make a wig. Today, I have been cutting the strips of fur off of the wigs. Also, with the longer hair, I have been making more strips of hair at the correct length. That is very tricky. When I get all of the strips finished, I will sew them onto the back of the head. I am researching how to take some of the shine off the hair and I know from cleaning and combing my daughter’s doll hair that I will be able to get the right texture. When I am finished, I will airbrush a bit to blend them. I think it will turn out great.
I have a dog started also and will work on it in-between this one when I need a break from the tedious stuff. I think it will be a German Sheppard.
I am going to posting my Boxer and the Beige and White dog back on Fur Buy tomorrow.
I am still trying to earn money to pay those taxes. Hopefully, I will reach my goal.

Determined
General | Posted 11 years agoHi,
So no one made a bid on either of my dogs on the auction but I am not going to give up. I need to earn the money to pay my taxes that are in arrears.
I am making two realistic animals. One is a lion – which I have wanted to make for months. I have had the materials for a while and I am just finishing up the mold. I really want it to be special. The other is a dog. I am not sure what kind of realistic dog and am looking for suggestions on what kind.
I was thinking of enhancing the Beige & White Dog by trying the removable eye brows. What do you think?
I also need some suggestions on how to enhance the Boxer.
I have posted the two of them on Tumbler but can’t see any attention coming from there.
Where else can I post them?
I really appreciate any and all suggestions.

I Have a Bigger Challenge
General | Posted 11 years agoI really don’t know how to do it.
Here it is.
I have to earn $2400 dollars by making and selling partials before the end of March.
I am a single mother on Welfare (am going through a career change). I have 5 more years of mortgage on our house, but I am in arrears on my city property taxes. If I don’t pay $2400 in back taxes by the end of March, they will put a lean on my house. Then after a few months, the bank will foreclose on my house. This is a small house but it is my daughter and my dream house. We bought it all by ourselves with no help from our family. It is small enough to last me till I am very old.
I have two partials up for auction on Fur Buy that I am trying to sell for $600.00 each.
I was thinking if I could sell them and get a couple of commission partials, I could get enough to get out of trouble.
I would really appreciate if you could have a look at the partials I have up for auction. Or you could commission me to make you a partial. Or you could tell everyone you know to have a look.
I would really appreciate any help you could give me.
Please leave comments to tell me what you think I can do.
Thank you so much for your attention.

The Beige & White Doggie can be seen at

And The Steam Punk Boxer can be seen at

What have I been Doing?
General | Posted 11 years agoI realized I haven’t done a journal for a while. I have been working part-time in an office and I recently started a trainee bookkeeping job – yah. I had all of the theory training and I needed experience. (career change) This place offered 2 months training with the possibility to get hired on. I am doing so may hours and it is in an accountant’s office. What are the chances of getting in there? Well I did, and I love it.
I have also been working on “The Challenge”. I am almost ready to post a Dragon commission. I am just finishing the final feathers. It was the challenge. The commissioner wanted a dragon with vision only through the mouth with the option of opening the mouth further - done. She wanted 6 pink slit eyes - done. She wanted pink transparent teeth with oversized fangs – done. I just have to finish the head wings and attach the row of scales down the forehead and it will be finished.
The next project I am going to try is a lion head with the mane. I have all of the supplies and can’t wait to get at it. I am trying to decide whether to make it realistic or tooney. What do you think?
I also have two more partials up for auction on Fur Buy.

Update
The Dragon Head is Finished - except for the tongue. I have one made but I am waiting for confirmation on the colour.
It looks wonderful.
I had to rip out and redo the wings because the base ended up being too thick. It is just right now.
Just going to have a bite and then take photos and then post them.
Can hardly wait.

Reposting to Auction Soon
General | Posted 11 years agoI will be reposting The Black Cat, The Beige & White Dog &
The Boxer to Fur Buy Auctions.
They were all up for auction before but weren't sold.
I am embelishing the two dogs and I think they will be a big hit.
I am aiming for the pictures and postings to be ready by the end of the weekend.
I hope everyone loves them.
