Need help finding some old games
General | Posted 15 years agoThe first one was a platformer, you play as some guy, jump around and shoot monsters, very straightforward. I think that the first level was in a ruined city, the second was a forest and so on. Pretty much the only other thing about the game I remember was that there was this boss - a huge blue guy with exposed brains whose hands flew off and chased you around the room.
The second game was, as far as I remember, an adventure game with ''The Curse of Monkey Island'' graphics. You played a guy who had some purple animal thing that could turn into stuff as a sidekick, very cartoony. I also remember that you could die in the game, there was this moat with a monster that could kill you pretty early on.
Found this one, it's ''Torin's Passage''.
I feel nostalgic just thinking about those games, although I don't remember much about them. I played both of them when I was 7, so they're at least 13 years old, probably more. I would really appreciate if someone knew what they were!

General | Posted 15 years agoOk, got tagged at
WhiteWingedDemon, and since I'm bored...
Comment and I will:
1. Respond with something random about you.
2. Tell you which color you remind me of.
3. Tell you my first memory of you.
4. Tell you what animal you remind me of.
5. Ask you something I've always wondered about you.
6. Tell you my favorite thing about you.
7. Tell you my least favorite thing about you.
8. Challenge you to post this on your journal.

I actually quite like it here
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, lately I've been surfing DA a bit more than usual and, while I've always used it to browse art, now I started paying some attention to the journals/comments a bit. And I have to say - you will find a lot more awesome artists there than on FA (and by that I don't mean less bad artists, just more good ones), and it's a great place to get some helpful critique. But it all seems so impersonal. Maybe that's just me, but the atmosphere is kinda cold - most friends people have on DA are either someone they know form real life or from some other corner of the internet.
That's what I like about FA - while there are a lot of people that make my eyes hurt from rolling in their sockets, people that really don't deserve to be ''popular'', but still are and some things that almost make me cry while puking my guts out - it's still a great place to find some really nice people!

Need some motivation

Conspiracies
General | Posted 15 years agoSo today, in political economy class two girls held a presentation. Themes were globalization and the world market. So, the first girl comes up, shows us some stuff that we all have in our textbooks, we are all barely paying attention. Then the other girl starts, nothing special again - huge companies, 9/11, Illuminati.... Wait, what? Illuminati?! Suddenly, she starts blaring about secret world domination plots, micro chips, brain washing and mind control... all while being completely serious. And then the first girl joins her (they were doing the presentation together). It was like they were retelling the plot of Deus Ex. The teacher was suppressing laughter so hard that he started to tear up. I don't blame him. Those girls are either completely bonkers or the best deadpan comedians I've ever seen.
It's kinda scary when you think that those people will be on high positions in this country one day; but then again, it doesn't get much worse than it already is.

IT'S STARTING
General | Posted 15 years agoToday, I woke up because a helicopter flew over my house - and it continued to fly over the city for the next couple of hours. On my way to college I notice an increased number of police in the streets, and on my way back I saw a ''drunken'' guy staggering about with his arms outstretched. Some time later I came upon a wall with ''IMMUNE'' written on it. I don't know whether I should keep laughing or start freaking out.
Also, Assassins Creed 2 yeeessss hfddufdsfdsdsdsd!!!!
Oh Ezio, hold me in your strong, murderous arms!

2 questions
General | Posted 15 years ago1. I'm in need of new music. Any suggestions? I like rock, but I'll take anything really.
2. What is the most original ''fursona'' (or a furry character) you've seen on FA? I saw an ebola virus once, but that was obviously a joke - I'm interested in ''serious'' characters this time - something weird that, for some reason, works.
So there. Answer whichever one you like, or if you're feeling particularly adventurous you can answer both.

Some peeps who deserve more love
General | Posted 15 years agoSeveral artist with less than 500 watchers that really ought to have much more...
There's a lot of such people in my watchlist, so if you're not here, it's because I wanted to keep the journal it short, you may be featured in another one.
ricefish - Incredibly cute art, very colorful and, best of all, traditional. It's not even a style I usually like, so you know it's great when I'm drooling over it like an idiot.
kutakuinkinnoin - I fell in love with her art the moment I saw it. It's creepy, cute, abstract and weird - like watching somebody's dream. There should be a monument raised to honor her imagination.
hippybro - A very nice and original cartoony style with beautifully vivid colors. I'm not sure why he/she went under the radar, but hopefully that will change.
ricket - I'm kinda running out of inspiration for writing these so I'll just say that, for some reason, watching this person's art makes me happy. It must be the colors, the facial expressions and the noodly arms.
Well, that's it for now. I'll probably make a few more of these in the future.

Oh god what
General | Posted 15 years agoSome people decorate their houses with furry porn. Who would want to hang furry porn on the walls? Or any porn for that matter? What do you tell your friends? Or your parents? I saw a picture of someone's bedroom with porny murals of Pikachu, I was laughing so hard that my eyes watered.
Some things you can really see only in this fandom.
Also, this isn't a whiny journal, because I was laughing too hard to be whiny.

I want your opinion
General | Posted 15 years agoSo there's this setting/story I'm working, and you've probably already seen a few characters from it.
The problem is - I'm not sure whether I should also include the human race or not. I'd rather not, because they really have no reason to exist there. But if I don't, there's a chance that it will be hard to relate to other characters or, even worse, that all fictional cultures will be shaped by real ones too much. Every time I try to imagine a human character in that universe it seems out of place and reeks of the ''humans are special'' idea (which I always hope to avoid), but when I draw that world's pubs and streets, they just seem too empty without humans...
Also, I'd like to avoid a substitute race, such as people with pointy ears and fangs.
I'm aware that this might be a wrong place to ask the question, and I know it's hard to give suggestions for something you pretty much don't even know of, but I'd like your opinion anyway. Do you think it would be hard to stay interested in a story with no creatures and races from the real world?

Things that make me laugh while browsing porn on FA
General | Posted 15 years ago1. Over the top expressions and gallons of body fluids. It's like characters have semen instead of... well, everything. But all porn's kinda like that, so I'll let it go. Bonus points if it's the most untasteful thing you've ever seen, but somebody comments how ''cute and pretty'' it is.
2. Comments saying ''Murrr I wish I was him/her'' at pictures of obviously terrified characters being painfully dissolved, torn apart or having alien eggs laid in their butt.
3. Porn stories! There should be a challenge where you have to read everything in a serious voice without laughing. Seriously, it's like Pratchett, but with less deadpan humor and more dog dicks and mistakes.
Of course, those are just my pet peeves, and it doesn't apply to all the stuff out there. Occasionally there's something I find appealing, but mostly it's just gross and/or boring.

I'm done
General | Posted 16 years agoWon't be posting cartoony stuff for a while. I believe that most people are watching me for stuff I did before, so there.... I'll be doing some more ''serious'' stuff now. Probably finish the sin series, while we're at it...
What FA needs...
General | Posted 16 years ago...is more imperfect characters. And I don't mean geeky, ''silly'' or ''violent because it's hilarious.'' I mean some real flaws.
And yes, I know this is a place where people make improved versions of themselves, so there, I'm not talking about fursonas. Just ordinary characters.

Some furries need to grow up D:
General | Posted 16 years agoYeah, yeah, I know it's been said a gazillion times, but all people that make bitchy rants in their journals need to go over this theme if they want to keep a high opinion of themselves.
So there, I'll keep this short - how the hell do furries want to be taken seriously if they keep acting like pre-school children? If you want to leave a good impression on someone, you don't start screaming and accusing people of labeling you, only to start acting like the most horrible stereotype of what you've been labeled as.
Just get over it, who gives a fuck what people think about you on the internet; and you are just giving the whole uh... community a bad name. Keep your kinks for yourself, or don't - but don't try to push them up everybody's face and expect them to accept you and then get angry when they don't. Yes, people are jerks, but you don't have to be one, too.
There, now I got this out of my system.

A question
General | Posted 16 years agoWhy do some people here have, like, millions of artists they watch? This is not one of the ''ooh it makes me angry'' journals, I'm really just curious. Do you actually browse through hundreds of submissions every day or just randomly click on the ones that look interesting in the thumbnail? I mean, I'm watching about 150 people, and even I sometimes have a tough time remembering some of them.
Favorite artists on FA
General | Posted 16 years agoSo, it turns out there are more amazing artists on FA than I expected, and I'll need someone else's help to catch 'em all. So tell me - who are your favorite artists here? Bonus points if they aren't very popular!
Some thoughts on Mass Effect 2
General | Posted 16 years agoSome spoiler-ish stuff ahead.
First of all, I'd like to state that it is an awesome game, even better than the first one, and if you haven't played it, you should. But there are some things that made me go ''what'', so I'll make ashort geek-rant.
So. Dumbing down the RPG elements. I was hoping that they wouldn't do that. At first I was really disappointed with the lack of inventory, but I figured that no inventory is better than a horrible inventory (just remember the first game), so I guess that it isn't really such a problem. They could have included more powers/abilities, though, but whatever. I didn't really feel like anything was missing in that area later on.
Then there's the ''a much darker sequel'' thing. Yeah, I have nothing against the ''mature work'' thing. But Bioware already proved with Dragon Age that when they say more mature they mean more blood, sex and angst. They did make it work, however, in both games - and by making it work I mean that it doesn't really feel out of place. But it doesn't really give it any depth, either.
And speaking of sex, the romance sidequests. Oh lord, the romance sidequest. It looks like Bioware got their inspiration from a bad porn movie or a teenage flick. "I always like to savor the last shot before popping the heat sink." Really, Garrus? Still, maybe it was supposed to be awkward. It made me chuckle, at least, but more in that emberrassed kind of way. I'm not even sure if all romances are like this, though.
And the last thing, which is the only real grudge I hold, is the main plot. There are altogether about 3 big reveals, and none of them is really something to make your jaw drop. No sudden twists that change your entire perspective. The most important one in my eyes, the one where you find out about the geth factions when talking with Legion, is treated like a sidequest and you actually don't even have to find out about it. I mean, you know that the Collectors are the enemy for the whole game and that's it. You play for about 30 hours only to find out where Reaper babies come from. What. The first game had this problem, too. I don't know how they manage to make abosolutely everything in the game epic except for the main storyline. It's usually the other way around. But whatever, maybe the third game will surprise me.

Sorry for the lack of activity
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm soooo unmotivated, I don't even have will to pick up a pencil. So I'm making a short break. Maybe a week or two. I've went longer times without posting.
PS. I know it's old, but I want someone to make a real Knights of Cydonia movie.
P P S. Why is Fender making an o-face?

On the other hand, I'm playing Earthbound and it fucking kicks ass.

I saw Avatar
General | Posted 16 years agoI don't really get what's the big fuss. I mean, sure, it's pretty, but it's like a cliche soup. Characters are flat and it's obvious that the whole plot exists only to deliver a ''humans should respect nature more'' moral. It was more or less fun, but I suspect that the movie owns much of its success to over-the-top advertising (''James Cameron will change the way you look at movies forever.'' Really now?).
Merry Christmas
General | Posted 16 years agoOr is it murry Christmas? Hur hur hur.
Anyway, even if you don't celebrate it, I hope you spend the holidays in a cosy home with your friends and family.
