Isn't it SEXY!?!?!?!?!?!
Isn't it SEXY!?!?!?!?!?!
So who does watch the Watchmen...?
Posted 16 years agoYeah late to the show, I know.
Just watched the move (godDAMNED that was long, i started at 10:30 or so my time).
That was a horrible movie, and a great movie at the same time. And that is a good thing.
Not horrible becasue of acting, or plot or anything. Just horrible beause it pointed out some nastiness sometimes you do not want to see.
And Horrible that Rorschach died, that I liked (if you haven't seen it by now, too late, I am gonna spoil it for you). And by Dr. Manhattans hand no less...
Yeah waxing poetic and shit.
But I LIKED Rorschach. He DIDN'T compromise. And maybe that why I thought him the only real hero in the entire movie.
But like anyone who is uncompromising, they are killed in the end, either physically, or by the world killing them internally.

1) Post these rules
2) Post 8 true things about yourself
3) At the end you must tag 8 people and post their icons
4) Go to their page and send them a message saying you tagged them
5) NO TAG-BACKS
1:I enjoy the act of teasing and arousing often more then the act of sex itself. I enjoy watching the other person get hot and bothered.
2:Currently suffering from what currently seems to be a bout of depression.
3:I have anger management issues. I cover it up by either being in the corner and quiet, or try to be very social and goofy.
4: I severly envy people who can learn multiple languages, becuase I seem unable to.
5: I still see myself as the glasses, momma-dressed geek inside. Probably why I don't take compliments to how I look very well.
6: I have Hirschsprung's. If you don't know what it is, look it up.
7: I am shy around popular furry artists becuase I don't want to seem to be just another raving fanboy,t hough I finally did have a good talk with :userJace: and found him a very interesting guy. And a kick ass artist ^_^.
8: I constantly have a variety of techno/synth/dance beats running in my head, but NO idea how to get them out of my head, onto a track to actually let others hear. No equipment to. And on the crazy side of that, I am not generally a techno/synth/dance fan to begin with. Maybe Its because i think most of it is crap compared to what I have going through my head ^_^
As for who I tag--first, I don't. Not presumptuous enough. So if you wanna do it, just volunteer.

*pulls hair out*
Posted 16 years agoI swear, life has it out for my BF and me.
We found out Thursday our house is being forclosed on.
Now we are RENTERS, and have been paying our rent the last 5 or so years we have been here. So that means the asshole who owns the house has not been paying the mortgage.
House goes on sale October 20-something (don't have the letter in front of me).
So now Kahuki and I are sort of scrambling to figure out WHAT we are gonna do. We don't exactly ahve enough credit to buy a house (We foudn one we like, but we dont have the credit) and we do not exactly have 2k lying aroudn to do a deposit and first months rent on a house like EVERYONE wants around here.
*grrrrs*
Well at least I guess, iI can look on the bright side. This house is a sh*thole anyways. WE have been wanting to move out. Just on our own terms would have been preferable.

Answer to oft-asked question...
Posted 16 years agoI got asked one to explain how I balance being Christian, yiffy, and bisexual/gay.
The short answer is: It's hard
...
Oh Oh I see, you want the LONG answer. Tough. But will give you a medium one:
I have to balance personal beliefs in God and Christ with the decidedly humanist bent I take the world in, and reconcile them.
I have distilled my view of Christian beliefs down to believing in God and Jesus, that I have been saved, and should try to lead a life of helping others as much as I can.
Just the other night Kahuki and I took someone into our house so they had a place to stay for the night. No payment expected. Just a good deed. Seems simple? Well it is. That's what i feel no Christian is doing anymore. They will try to attach strings to it.
*smirks* It is also probably why we have had people leech off us before, but hey, charity only goes so far.
Christianity shapes the compassion part of my morals.
As for the rest of them? well that is where the humanist bent comes in.
I think after the whole "Jesus on a cross" thing, God is leaving us the hell alone to do as we will. He gave us the out. He doesn't need Miracles or Prophets anymore. Which is why I despise televangelists.
Now notice I say humanist bent, not humanist. Becuase well...I am not really, per se, a humanist. But I take the view to heart when looking at things. I do believe in a higher power. Kinda excludes being a full on Humanist
But back to the rest of my morals.
Primarily: I see nothing wrong with sex. In a country that is so torn between trying to bat down sensuality/sexuality wherever it can and at the same time overselling it, it's amazing to me how often Christians are such the assholes about this.
Sex is not bad. Sex is not some "only for matrimony" thing. Sex CAN be overdone and you get burnt out on it, so sex carefully ^_^ But Two people wanting to have sex? Let them.
Ones 15 and ones 23? Big deal
Ones 13 and ones 18-19? Big whoop. I would have done it at 13 (and was looking for it at that age with older guys).
Ages 5 and ones 30? Umm HOLD THE TRAIN THERE. According to human sexuality studies, an interest in sex with others doesn't really start till the 10-13 age range. Something is amiss there.
See I DO have morals on this. It boils down to this: Everything must be consentual between two parties. And i don't mean "well if I gag her she can't say no" consent. I mean knowing, willing consent In anything that happens. Which could get pretty damned kinky and dangerous, but if they consent to it WILLINGLY, with FULL KNOWLEDGE, then it's two consenting people and the Morality Police butting their puritanistic (as in having puritanical traits) head into it.
the old Testament was about Control in a situation for survival. People were a small group, and in a hard desert environment. Don't be gay, because you can't have offspring. Makes LOGICAL sense. Food laws were the same: Don't eat pig, had parasites.
Nowdays we have overpopulation. Survival? Not so much an issue in that respect.
Food is safer nowadays.
And this is tangenting....dammit. *smacks head*
So yes, I balance them because I don't see a conflict. I know some of you will accuse me of pick-and-choosing Christianity. WELL DUUUUHHH!! Current Christianity is far worse at it than me, at least I admit I choose how to view my faith, instead of trying to lie about inconsistencies.
So there you have it, the Medium Reply. I may get to the long one at some point. It is just very difficult to get personal moral views written down while trying to explain EVERY nuance without it making you look like some wierdo... (oops, too late )

Rocky Mountain Fur Con
Posted 16 years agoFrom across the cluttered desk of the con-chair...
There have been a lot of rumors floating around about the convention. Rumors about debt, about the life and stability of RMFC. This will, I hope address those concerns and give people improved confidence in RMFC.
“The convention is drowning in debt” While it is true the convention is in debt, the situation is not bad and well under control. Thanks to some sizable donations by a few locals furs, the convention has paid off ALL of it's debts but one and made a sizable impact in the conventions one remaining debt.
“I don't want to register cause the convention will take my registration to pay off debts and close up” This is 100% not true, every penny we receive from registrations, dealers, and art show panels is going directly into the convention. NO EXCEPTIONS.
“Why should I attend, the convention might not be around next year” Also not true. We have been in negotiations with the hotel for convention dates in 2010 and 2011 and are confident that we will have these dates signed soon. The convention is going to be around for the future, all of my staff are dedicated to this fact.
While hesitance in these hard economic times is understandable I want to stress to every one that RMFC is here to stay, and we have some great plans for the future of our convention. The only thing we need now is your trust and support. We have some great guests of honor this year, Scribblefox and Terry Smith, and a wonderful events track. We are not going away, but we are going places, and we want you along for a great ride!
Thank you!
Sorin, the Excited RMFC Chairman
chairman[at]rockymountainfurcon.org
P.S.
My door is open to anyone with questions, concerns or comments about the convention. Don't hesitate to write me, I would love to hear from you.
=========================
Let me make this clear for you folks:
RMFC WILL ONLY FAIL IF YOU DO NOT GO. So get yer butts goin and have some fun. we have the BEST con for Fursuiting (we have an entire pedestrian mall to run along).

Apple-heads, explain this to me:
Posted 16 years ago(EDIT) It appears that Apple has come out and said there is no DRM now.
However, there is still the issue with the proprietary controls inline on the earbuds instead of on the device, still accompishes the same thing though: You can't use standard headphones
http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/16/.....fle-headphone/
So they design a new shuffle with no controls on the pod itself, but inline on the headphones (Sony has done the inline controls before, ne MiniDisc).
But then they make it so you can only buy THEIR headphones, so your nice, expensive cans you would use to listen to music you are unable to use.
They could have just make a short cable with control on it, but with a standard jack at the end so that. Nope.
So what prevents them from doing this for ALL the iPod line? (requiring proprietary headphones) and how is this a GOOD thing?

For you drinkers out there...
Posted 16 years agoOk, bitchy otter time!
Furp is dead. I never knew him, by the sound of it, we shared humor styles and he sounds like one of those rare, true "hero" types.
If you don't know who he is, well look at Kage's journal, @'s, or any major furry in the fandom. Ten to one, they knew him well. Me? I'm not a major fandom person, just a minor, opinionated,(currently very angry) tech otter with wings.
BUT....Oh boy.... he died by a drunk driver. Run over on his Motorbike.
Listen, you dimwitted, thrice-imbred, brainess fuckwads out there, and listen well. If you contemplate, think, decide to, or even HINT in your brain you are going to try to drive even the tiniest bit intoxicated? Please, JUST KILL YOURSELF NOW!! Thats right, take whatever death implement of choice you want, be it a bat, shotgun, cyanide, pistol, The Almighty Thor™ shoved sideways up your ASS (courtesy of ZooFur.com) or hell, come my way, I'll do it for you, free of charge. You can take the .45 express straight into the great beyond. Becuase I would happily go to jail knowing I saved people lives by booting your pathetic ass OUT of the gene pool with much prejudice
It's better your loser ass dies than someone like Furp, or hell ANYONE other than you. Becuase you can't use the god given sense to go "Oh wait, I can barely walk, the world is spinning while i stand still, maybe I should call a cab" you cost people their lives!
That Marine that killed him (oh yeah, did I mention it was a drunk MARINE) should be dishonorably discharged, and becuase just throwing the book at him isn't enough, have the book launched at him with whatever secret, high speed mega-cannon rail gun the military is working on straight into his SKULL!!!. Maybe, just MAYBE then he will get the clue!
As you all know, I am a pretty live and let live kind of guy. Seriously, I think after a max of 3 or 4 years, a persons criminal record should not be brought up unless its job related SPECIFICALLY (as in, if you robbed a bank, no bank job for you, THAT kind of specific). This sword of Damacles effect we have over people is just NOT kosher.
But killing unwilling people through ignorance and malice? Oh That's the big exception.
Ranting otter OUT.

FC2009 addendum
Posted 16 years agoOh yeah, and Selkit Diller is weird, but in a good way ^_^. He's definitely a little arrogant, but not near as much as rumors would like you to believe. And we had fun eating out with him and his wife/gf (I honestly didn't ask if they were married or not). Her brother though (the one who drove us) got on my nerves a little, but some do.

Posted 16 years agoWell....
I had a BLAST!!!!
Seriously I did. And it was very very weird running into artists that I had watched for years and finally meeting them.
and
Jace is actually a really neat guy. And I bought his art...prolly spent more than I should have LOL.
Only minor downsides:
ollie wasn't there. Asked Jace about it, and he says he never gets a table. And when he comes he doesn't often socialise
And somewhere along the line, I never did find
MrK-9. I had wanted to meet him
Oh well.
And my mate
Kahuki had a birthday the 23rd, during the con. This trip was kind of his BD present ^_^.
probably more to come, but in an actual pretty snappy mood

Linux issues(edited)
Posted 17 years agoI am running across some really strange Linux issues as of late with my EeePC.
Ok first off, it is the UbuntuEEE distro (netbook remix ofUbuntu with drivers specifically for the EeePC and a snappy interface)
The minor problem I have is i cant find a "bump" setting for the touchpad (a bump guard, like you can find in Windows, that allows it to realise you are not actually meaning to touch it, and prevents accidental selection and such, which has happened several times this post by me seeming to just BREATHE on it)
the bigger one, and most goddamned frustrating though, is it randomly decides it will not mount any USB based volumes.
Let me explain:
I have a USB stick, a SD card reader built in, and a mSD card reader built into my 3gModem (which was a pain in the ass to set up, BTW, compared to windows).
The built in SD reader? Works every time. Flawlessly.
The other ones, which interface through the USB ports. half the time give me the message "you are not authorised to mount this device".
EVEN WHEN I LOG INTO ROOT. I mean how much more authorised do you get than Root?
Half the time, the mSD works fine. I can't get a USB stick to work with my netbook anymore.
The frustrations are starting to make me want to load XP on this netbook and say the hell with it.
And suggestions/Help?

Immigration
Posted 17 years agoOk my Point of View on immigration is:
1 learn the language of the country, defacto or otherwise, no matter what country you hail from. We offer English for America, learn it (yes we do, BTW, because a good friend of mine here,
osiris moved here from Russian parts and managed to learn it. ESL classes)
2: Quit talking about how great your country is that you just left to move here. Accept that some of your cultural practices have to stay behind. America (in this case) is a melting pot, meaning some things go to the wayside (a soup with every ingredient in the world would taste horrible and be inedible). Does not mean you have to abandon your heritage completely, and anyone who tells you that should take a bullet up the ass sideways (don't ask how you do that...I have no clue)
3: both of these boil down to respecting the people and the country you moved to. don't expect them to learn your language to communicate with you. That is thoughtless and rude. These rules are fairly universal, not America specific.
now that out of the way, before you start posting comments of "racist"or something like that (I have gotten them)
I think you are taking what I say a little serious though. My opinion on immigration is partially from growing up in southern New Mexico, where there is a lot of immigrants, illegal and legal. And as someone trying to learn spanish in HS (and failing) and then having a whole bunch of people speaking a language I do not understand around me in, my OWN damned country makes ME feel like the immigrant and outsider. That and a good majority of signs having the spanish part in bigger font than the English on it. That gets to be frustrating after a while, and as I said, I take it from a respect point of view, which people miss entirely. It is respectful to learn the language (defacto or otherwise) of the country you are moving to and disrespectful to claim the country you just moved from is better than the one you just moved to. If it is better, WHY DID YOU MOVE!?!(yes, thats the Viva Mexico crowd, you ruin it for the quiet people who may have love for aspects of their old country, but don't go around putting mexican flag stickers on everything) I would have a lot less problems with illegal immigrants, actually, if they did. As long as I can communicate with them, and not get a crapload of bravado and boasting in my face, I really do not have much issue with any sort of immigrant.
But of course, people consider me unreasonable in that respect.

What god thinks...
Posted 17 years agoa good friend of mine,
osiris turned me onto this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX-q66lpGQM
God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm equipment
God thinks the Jews killed his son and must be punished
God thinks the white man is Satan
God, they know what God thinks
God thinks we should all convert to Judaism
God thinks we must all be Christians and
God thinks we should all embrace Islam
God thinks the only true religion is Hinduism
And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're a waste of flesh
God prefers an Atheist
God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
and using His name for your own protection
God thinks the sun revolves around the Earth
God thinks there was something very wrong with Copernicus
God thinks abortion is murder and
God thinks everything that science gave us is wrong
God thinks women deserve it
God thinks AIDS is a form of punishment
I hate people who blame the Devil for their own shortcomings and
I hate people who thank God when things go right
And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you're an idiot
God prefers a heretic
God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw the stone
and using His name for your own agenda
God is a liberal
God is a democrat
God wants you to vote republican
never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god
and says it's absolute truth
its lies and it smells like death
its all in a day's work taking money from the poor
Why do you think that God would need your dirty money
if he want to start a holy war?
self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
and using His name for your own protection
God thinks puppies need to die and
God thinks babies need to drown
'cause God is neither good nor bad
God is you and me
God is Everything
I really do love this song, becuase it is just a good show of what is wrong with modern religion

Christianity is being attacked....
Posted 17 years agoIt has come to my attention that Christians have been systematically bashed, discriminated against, and persecuted in a relentless display of bigotry!
Here, according to Christian News Wire, are the top 10 (actually 11) instances of Christian Persecution in 2008 (and editorial commentary):
* Jack Black in "Prop 8 the Musical" Christians are mocked and the Bible's teachings are distorted (The bible doesn't REALLY proscribe shrimp. Oh wait, it does. And how dare they point out inconsistent interpretation of scriptures!)
* Bill Maher Attacks the Pope Maher points out that when a cult abuses a hundred kids, it' gets raided, but when the Catholic church abuses thousands, it doesn't. (I'll side with Maher on this one.)
* ESPN anchor says "Fuck Jesus" Anchor Dana Jacobson said "Fuck Notre Dame." "Fuck Touchdown Jesus." "Fuck Jesus." (It wasn't on air, it was at a private roast, ESPN suspended her, and later she apologized on the air, even though no video or audio recordings of the incident exist. Apparent celebrity Mel Gibson is allowed to be publicly pro-Christian, but another celebrity is not allowed to be privately un-Christian.)
* University Professor Desecrates Communion Biology professor Paul Myers desecrated the host by not swallowing it immediately. (Paul Myers is best known for his blog Pharyngula and is a noted skeptic. Instead of swallowing the cracker, he held it in his mouth to take back to his seat to show a friend, and was physically accosted by the minister who tried to force him to give it back. The article also forgets to mention that he has received death threats. Personally I find this insulting, as I have not gotten nearly the same amount of attention for my own desecration of not one but dozens of bits of the body of Christ.)
* Religulous the Movie Bill Maher savagely attacked Christianity. (The movie "did not cover any new intellectual ground" (I didn't know there was any) and merely "raised the old attacks." Never mind that it was about religion in general and covered a LOT of different religions, this was clearly a case of CHRISTIAN persecution. I'm sure both people who saw the film were offended.)
* Chaplains Fired for Praying to Jesus The state of Virginia and a federal court has stopped Christians from being able to pray to Jesus. (Naturally they make it sound like you can't pray AT ALL anymore. Oh, except they left out one detail: it regarded "formal" prayers preceding official state functions, requiring that they be non-denominational in nature. In this case I guess "persecution" includes "not being allowed to force Christianity on everyone.")
* Colorado Law Criminalizes the Bible Governor Bill Ritter signed into law SB200, making publishing the Bible illegal! (Oh, well. Not REALLY... SB200 merely expanded anti-discrimination laws to cover sexual orientation and gender identity. The next step will surely be the confiscation of bibles and the shuttering of churches. *nod*)
* Barack Obama Defames Christianity Barack Obama is not a Christian even though he claims to be. (According to the press release, they have determined that Obama's stance on various issues measured by "any biblical and historic Christian standard" clearly indicate that he is not a TRUE Christian.)
* Radical Homosexuals Assault Prop 8 Marriage Supporters in California Stories flooded in of Christians being verbally and physically assaulted, churches vandalized, and clergymen's lives threatened. (No references are cited. The first page of Google hits for 'prop 8 violence' includes: 4 references to violence on supporters of prop 8, all posted to Christian websites or self-reporting of incidents, but none with any clear indication of veracity.... 3 references to general rancor on both sides... 2 references to violence on opponents of prop 8, similarly unverifiable... and 1 reference to people complaining about the measure passing on blogs.)
* Senators Abuse Power US Senator Grassley has maliciously requested the financial records of several evangelical organizations. (... investigating whether they're using their tax-exempt status to illegally promote specific political candidates and issues.)
This shocking and unjust abuse of Christians must stop! Only when the bigotry and intolerance ends will Christians be able to resume their righteous cause of telling everybody else how to live and silencing any dissent against our One True Lord, Jesus Christ.

Hell. Never again am I buying a Diskeeper product. I thought their product was good, but I refused to support a company that tries to push a cult (especially a phony, money-only cult like this one) onto it's employees.
I urge you to boycott them. Hell, I am urging you to pirate it ^_^. (dont razz me for being irresponsible or something like that)
I am glad that they are suing, and hope they succeed.

1) What was your FIRST video game console?
An atari 2600 6 switch model
2) Name a few games you played on said console.
Pitfall, Pac-Man, Combat, Atlantis, ET (yes i had that detestible game)
3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?

6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
He'd better wash his hands. Noone gets the otters controllers oily
7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG? I will allow a second and third fave if you insist.
Final Fantasy VIII

Fractals are not art According to Damaratus
Posted 17 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/journal/553684/
My friend :Osiris:, who I consider a good fractal artist, has been told the following by :Damaratus:
Fractals are considered to be generated artwork because the only thing you really need to create them is a program to generate fractals. Moving sliders around to create an affect does not really equate to original works. Another person could take the same program and set things to the same settings and end up with the exact same image.
The site is really for original works, something that cannot be carbon copied and duplicated.
If your friend feels that there is something that sets his works apart, or a reason he feels that factals deserve a place on the site, he can certainly raise the question in a note to an administrator, or in the forums. While we're not out to exclude people from the site, there is a line that we've been trying to keep when it comes to what passes as artwork on the site. The only way for this to change is for there to be a good argument as to how fractals is something beyond simply a generated image from a piece of software.

I am saying MESSAGE DRAGONEER AND DAMARATUS. This is bullshit. Fractals are art. This is not the furriest art, but none the less it is art. and to say it is just "moving sliders" is crap.

Family of Wal Mart Worker sues Wal Mart.
Posted 17 years agoOk you have probably read this article (or a similar one about the same incident):
http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local.....art_after.html
"Even officers who arrived to perform CPR on the trampled worker were stepped on by wild-eyed shoppers streaming inside, a cop at the scene said."
This is the worst of humanity in a lot of ways, in a micro-form: Greed.
And unfortunately, his family is starting to suffer from it too:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/03.....mart.lawsuits/
Come on, if you read articles, they had barriers, third party security, they took a whole HOST of precautions (barriers for pete's sakes) to try to prevent it. The asshat people actually DAMAGED the door getting in.
Yes they lost their family member, but it WAS NOT WAL MARTS FAULT. Good lord.
