The reason why daily deviations are ineffective

Posted 11 years agoSo i've been developing this http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13058325/ and It has reached a point I'd like to get some people to give some feedback about this project, which is a multi-website art client, intended to allow both watching people and managing your galleries. This will not be first-come-first-serve. I'm going to see who is interested in this and pick the people I believe will be able to give the most feedback. That given you increase your chances of getting chosen if you:
- watch a lot of people (without being a watch hoarder >:( );
- are watched by a lot of people;
- post art regularly;
- post journals regularly;
- have active accounts on multiple art sites;
Comment here and link to your art profiles if you are interested

Late new years journal.
Posted 12 years agoI guess I might as well make a retrospect of my past year (also because I don't want to keep the raffle journal on my front page for a long time).
I would say that my past year was both accomplishing and unaccomplishing. Thing is that I didn't manage to do everything I wanted, I hoped that I would have been able to launch a commercial game by the end of the year and start another as well as other projects to stablish myself as an independent developer. I accomplished none of said goals.
However, I think I learned a lot about myself and that I kept having the unconscious thought of "don't try not to be dissappointed". At some point, I don't know why (actually I have a clue why but don't want to talk about it), I snapped and began looking at other people's accomplishments and seeing myself capable of same said accomplishments. The other day I was browsing online stores for art supplies and realized - I was browsing online stores for art supplies - I haven't been this motivated toward art in years, in fact this might be the most motivated towards art I've ever been because back when I last did art regularly I didn't feel capable of doing the amazing drawings and illustrations I wanted to do, something which I do not feel anymore. I have been doodling and practicing 3d modeling a whole bunch and FINALLY trying to get myself to draw directly with a tablet, because trying to get traditional lineart to go well as well as cleaning scanned linearts, is a poin in the ass.
Let's see what the future will hold, hope I can keep it and make this a new art life for me.
Cheers!

{CANCELLED} Favorites cleanup and 0x100 Watchers raffle!
Posted 12 years agoCANCELLED DUE TO THIS ACCOUNT BEING IN THE PROCESS OF BEING PHASED OUT
So I decided my ammount favorites was getting too big and thus I decided to remove everything that's either over 1 year old or that already has over 150 favorites, except only for artwork done for me. These shall be my criteria from now on as well, I intend to use my favorites to help promote artists who deserve more attention.
And:
Here's a raffle - Once I reach 256 watchers, I will pick a number to give a free piece of artwork to. The rules are as follows:
- You must have been watching this account for at least 1 week, and you must be watching this account by the time I close the raffle. You can join if you've been watching for less than a week, but I will only give you a number after you completed a week.
- You should expect a finished picture, but do not expect an amazing quality picture. The final outcome will depend on my availability/disposition at the time of the raffle closing.
- Picture will PG-13. So do not ask for a character that's impossible to draw under this restriction.
- Also, do not ask for inflation, hyper, diaper, extreme muscle or extreme fat. I reserve the right to decline other characters that creep me out as well.
- The ammount of heads+legs+arms+tails+wings+tentacles must not exceed 10. I'm trying to avoid too complex characters
- Do not specify what the character should be doing.
- A new raffle will be posted immediately after this one is closed with a new watcher count target.
Similar raffles are posted to deviantArt,Sofurry and Weasyl so you may participate on the raffles on there as well.
I know I STILL owe trades and kiribans, but I doubt I'll still be owing them by the time of the raffle end. So expect me to clear myself of owed stuff soon, and probably open for commissions shortly afterwards

Have been having to get this off my chest.
Posted 12 years agoI'm a severe sociophobic. To the point I sometimes need to take a deep breath to order a pizza.
I never have the courage to go forward with acquaintances because I constantly fear what I say/do will make them distance from me. Even the act of writing this journal took me a lot of courage to do, because of fear that nobody will care, making me feel even more alone than if I didn't.
I supposed some might suggest trying to get to people on instant messengers but even that is insanely hard for me to do because I fear they'll refuse to give me their IM handles or ignore me if they have it public because they find me annoying/boring/creepy/somebody-they-don't-care. And of course, that I wouldn't know what the fuck to talk about. I think it might have been well over an year since I last had an IM conversation.
In the end I don't have friends because I don't know how to interact with people and I don't know how to interact with people because I don't have friends.

Kiriban Information
Posted 14 years agoResults of 100 watchers kiriban:
xolroc gets a colored pic of Rosemary http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5696505/
jarmenj gets an inked pic of Syldria http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5862471/
datapacrat gets a pencil pic of DPR http://www.datapacrat.com/sketches/
Results of 6765 views kiriban:
prawojazdy gets a sketch of Tory http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4561121/
Further kiribans are suspended for the time being
Also, I will be using a different kiriban model from now on:
Kiribans come at fibonacci numbers: if you catch the fibonacci number for pageviews, watches or favorites, you get the prize.
- Watcher count kiriban awards a colored piece
- Favorite count kiriban awards an inked piece
- Pageview kiriban awards a pencil piece
Last fibonacci number for watchers: 89
Last fibonacci number for favorites: 55
Last fibonacci number for pageviews: 4181
Rules:
* To claim the kiriban, send a note saying which number you caught, the correct fibonacci number it corresponds to and a picture of the character you want to be drawn. See above for the last numbers in order to find out the next ones
* You do not need to catch the exact ammount, you just need to be the first to claim the kiriban.
* In the occasion a given number passes by without being claimed and a person catches the following number, that person gets the pending prize as well.
* There is no per-person limit, therefore if you manage to catch multiple numbers at the same time you get all of them.
* If a person forfeits a prize, it will be offered via journal for the first person to claim it (just like this first kiriban was)
* Do not try to cheat. I will skip kiribans or refuse prizes to specific people if I realize people are manipulating numbers or spamming my note inbox or sending kiriban notes prior to the numbers getting reached
* I do this for fun and to give something back to my watchers, so do not act like you're pointing a gun to my head in order to do it or like you paid me large sums of money to do so.
For instance, my current favorite count is 53. The next fibonacci number would be 55 (which will be skipped because it's too close) so, if you saw 57 on the favorite count you would send a note like:
"Kiriban for 55 favorites - [link to character reference]"
If the note said instead "55 pageviews" or "57 favorites", or simply forgot to add the character reference, the note would not count and the winner would be the next with a valid note. Granted, sending a correct note after making a mistake sending invalid information also counts if you manage to send it before someone else does.

Posted 15 years ago10 OCs meme
Posted 15 years agoBecause 5 just aren't enough
These are 10 of my favorite OCs from different artists, in no particular order.
tohofuhai Neko Robo - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2297895/
I say it's a character, so STFU. I like him a lot because he has such a kickass design all around, and the way KoH makes ilustrations as if they were manga chapter covers is pretty cool.
thumbclawz Paleo - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1162694/
Too many male characters in the fandom are made for purposes of pure smut, but Paleo instead is pure badass, specially seeing his specie.
chaosie Chaosie - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2129841/
This is one of the few "commissioner's character" that I actually like. Shi/she has a bunch of features that actually unique intead of girly and clichéd (e.g. Tiny wings), and has a very effective use of monotone
missmab Matilda - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2909477/
In some ways strange, in some ways cute, in several ways fun and friendly. Matilda is easily my fav out of the DMFA series
lunarthesnowleopard Trigger - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1883580/
This is what tank girl should have been
avencri Mayte - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1963072/
It's pretty hard to choose only one among his characters when he has so many awesome ones, but I think I go with mayte, seeing she has a very nice set of habilites (like flooding a temple and turning into a giant serpent) ani still manages to be very cute and silly.
sonitweek Ellimie - http://sonitweek.deviantart.com/art.....coffee-5661559
Another tough choice, seeing she has so many well-thought characters, but I go with Ellimie, seeing she is the femme fatale type without overdeing it, while having an well-thougt story behind her.
vera Vera - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2626646/
Is she sexy? Or creepy? I just never know...
sheba-windstorm Sheba Windstorm - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2202216/
Beautiful, sexy, and has a lot going on other than just being a pirate.
gravewalker Gravey - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3636932
Big is beautiful

Posted 16 years agoSuperhero logic!
Posted 16 years ago- No matter how flimsy a superhero's disguise is, no one EVER finds out their true identity.
- The obvious choice when you get superpowers is to waste your safety and time in an endless fight against crime. There's never a useful way to use superpowers that doesn't include fighting other dudes with superpowers.
- Accidents involving massive doses of radioactivity doesn't kill people. It gives them superpowers.
- Every alien has superpowers.
- People with superpowers do not need combat training to be superheroes. Having superpowers automatically gives you all the skills you need.
- Superheroes without super-resistance can be thrown several meters into the ground or a wall without breaking any bones.
- If you know acrobatics and can use melee weapons, you can be a superhero.
- It's perfectly reasonable to charge towards foes using automatic guns with sword or even unarmed, even if you do not possess special means of avoiding/healing damage from gunfire.
- If the hero can withstand gunfire without harm, 99% of the shots will hit him. It the hero cannot withstand sustained gunfire, 0,01% of the shots will hit him.
- Killing the bad guy is wrong, despite how obvious it is that they won't stop commiting crimes.
- Maximum security prisons always have an easy way for the prisoners to escape.
- Bright colored spandex uniforms are clearly superior to camo-textured kevlar in every aspect.
- Unstable molecules, despite what scientists say, can easily adapt to the wearer's needs and are not prone to exploding nor ejecting harmful ammounts or radioactivity.
- Millionaires have access to technologies more advanced than the NASA or anyone else.
- There's always convenient objects that can be used as improvised weapons when the hero has no chance otherwise.
- "Dead" superheroes and supervillains are always revived a while after they "die"

Dress style meme
Posted 16 years agoHere's my feeble attempt at starting a meme.
Tell how much you'd like to wear a certain item, and how much a person wearing it (of whatever your sexual orientation is) would turn you on
on you:
OO: Would wear it anytime!
O: I like it, and wear/would wear it at times
-: I'm not into it, but wouldn't have a problem wearing it
X: I wouldn't normally like to wear but could make exceptions
XX: I would NEVER wear it unless there were absolutely no other choice!
on others:
OO: Just the sight of it triggers me fantasies!
O: I think that's attractive

Tell how much you'd like to wear a certain item, and how much a person wearing it (of whatever your sexual orientation is) would turn you on
on you:
OO: Would wear it anytime!
O: I like it, and wear/would wear it at times
-: I'm not into it, but wouldn't have a problem wearing it
X: I wouldn't normally like to wear but could make exceptions
XX: I would NEVER wear it unless there were absolutely no other choice!
on others:
OO: Just the sight of it triggers me fantasies!
O: I think that's attractive
-: Not bad, but doesn't turn me on
X: I don't like it, but I can ignore that
XX: I don't want to be near anyone wearing that!

Watermarks...
Posted 17 years ago[PORTUGUÊS]

This something that intrigues me... Why is there people who are happy in denying their fans the option to see clean art, without obstrusive watermarks?
Yes, there's people who use other's art as avatars, forum signatures, or even repost as their own art. So what, is my penis going to fall off if that happens?
I can understand when the artist want to sell copies of the artwork, but if the artist is not making any money out of it, nor does the thief, I see no reason to overreact.
The idea of "thievery is not advertising" I think it's only partially true. If a dude prints or puts an artwork as wallpaper on the PC, or use it as avatar in some forum, woudn't there be chances os someone wanting to know where it came from? If someone takes your art and start claiming as his own, isn't it likely someone will find out and tell who is the real author?
One more thing: the idea of preventing illegitimate commercial use through watermarks is utter bullshit.
Starting from redundancy - unless you are stupid enough to submit publicly drawing with enough resolution to print in A4 size at 300DPI, internet-posted art is by itself improper for commercial use - you can't print decently anything much larger than a button from it.
Second, the saying watermarks are inviolable is an urban legend. Some dude with basic photoshop knowledge can remove an watermark ferily easily. You need to rape your drawings completely through watermarks to make it effective enough.
Third, in several cases the artworks are manually traced, nullifying any copy-protection effort.
I'm satisfied with just signing my art without obstructing it, I already know an watermark will make more of an insinuation that everyone who looks at my art will want to steal it rather than providing any sort of effective protection...

1- I'll answer with something random about you.
2- I'll dare you to try something
3- I'll say a color I associate with you.
4- I'll tell you something I like about you.
5- I'll tell you something I always remember about you / a first memory about you.
6- I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7- I'll ask you something I always wanted to ask you.
8- If I do this for you, you must put this in your journal.
