New Furry Gaming Channel on Youtube
Posted 3 years agoI know it's been a while since I posted anything here, but recently I've been hard at work setting up my brand new Youtube channel called JakeDaFoxie! I record lots of gameplay videos, mostly from VR and Retro games, all with commentary from my foxy avatar! If that sounds like something you would enjoy, please check out my channel. Just click on the link below!
While I don't have too many videos up yet, I am posting new content on a weekly basis, so you can expect to see more from me real soon! I also have big plans for the channel going forward, but I need your help in order to realize them. Every view, like, and subscription helps boots my channels visibility, and gets Youtube to suggest my content to more people who might enjoy it. If you enjoy my videos, and would like to see more, please be sure to like and subscribe. Also, please keep in mind that I am still relatively new at this, but the quality of my videos is only bound to improve with time!

How I Make My Mathematical Animations
Posted 7 years agoI recently uploaded some abstract mathematical animations to Youtube, and shared some of the still frames on FurAffinity and DeviantArt. Since then, I have written a blog post on my website, explaining exactly how I made these animations, and why they are so interesting. If you haven't seen my video yet, you should definitely check it out, and read my blog posts too!

My Personal License 2018
Posted 7 years agoJacob Dawson's Personal License
September 1, 2018
All of my original work, except where otherwise noted, is licensed under the Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 license. Websites like DeviantArt, Vimeo, and Flickr all have the ability to mark content with Creative Commons licenses, or include licensing metadata. In that case, the license associated with the work should be treated as the official license for that work. In cases where no licensing information is given, this license can be assumed.
This license does not extend to work done for me, either as part of a commission, trade, or gift. In that case you must check the actual license applied to the work, or assume no license if none is given. If you are able to gain permission, from all parties involved, to use that work in conjunction with a CC BY-SA license, then you may apply this license to that work. You do not need to ask my permission.
What follows below is my personal interpretation of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license. It is not meant to be a replacement for the actual license, and does not constitute a legally binding agreement. For exact details on the allowed use of the work, please refer to the actual license.
You are free to modify and redistribute my work, including for commercial gain, as long as you both: A) credit me by name ( Jacob Dawson ) for the original work with a link back to my user page, or wherever you originally found the work; and B) license your modifications of the work under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license, or any later version, or comparable license.
You must disclose any modifications made when distributing modified versions of the work. You may not give credit in such a way as to imply support or endorsement, of any product or cause, associated with your use of my work. All credits contained in the original work must either be left unaltered or be included in your crediting of the work.
Basically you are allowed to share and use my work, as long as you give me credit, and are willing to grant others the same opportunity. I place this license on my work in the hopes that others will find it useful, and will be able to use my work in their own creative endeavors. If you have any questions regarding this license, or a particular use of my work, feel free to contact me.
If you use my work in your own project, please let me know. This is purely a request, and you are under no obligation to contact me. I like to know how my work is being used, and if I approve of your work I can share it with others. This helps the community, and helps us both gain more exposure.
Changing My License
Posted 7 years agoJust a heads up that I will be changing my license regarding the use of my work. You will still be able to redistribute my work as long as you give credit, but if you modify or adapt my work you will then have to apply the same license to your adaptations. The new license will take effect on September 1, 2018. Anyone who has downloaded my work prior to this point may continue to use the old license.
I want you to know that I have thought long and hard about this change, and I do not do so light-heartedly. I believe that this new license better reflects my ideals and helps to support the sort of free and open culture I wish to promote. If this causes anyone inconvenience, I do apologize. If anyone wishes to use my work outside the terms of the license, please contact me.

My First Gigasecond
Posted 8 years agoAfter I post this message, I will be over one Gigasecond old! That is, 10^9 seconds from my time of birth, or about 31.69 years. As I approach this milestone, I like to look back on everything that has transpired in my first Gigasecond. All the historical events I witnessed, all the technological advancement, all of my personal achievements, and everything I have learned; going from a helpless newborn to a (mostly) functioning adult. When I consider all I have seen and done, in what seems like a relatively short amount of time, it is overwhelming! Often I feel like I'm running out of time. I still have so many thing I want to do and experience! But looking back on what I have already seen gives me hope for the future. I cannot help but wonder what I will achieve in my next Gigasecond. Assuming I am lucky enough to make it that far.
Will Be Gone Until Next Year
Posted 8 years agoHello everyone! I just wanted to inform you that I will be leaving for the USA in a few days, to spend Christmas with my family. I doubt I will have a lot of time to go online, so I won't be responding to any comments, faves, or other messages for a while. So don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you, and I will get to you sometime in the new year.
For those curious, its going to be a big family Christmas. Both my brother and my two sisters each have families of their own, and we live far apart, so it's very rare to get all of us together like this. We've rented this big house down in Florida, so we can celebrate Christmas together on the beach. It's going to be a lot of people all in one place, but I am very excited! This will likely be the biggest Christmas we have ever had! I may post some photos once I get back, as long as they are not too personal.
See you all next year!

Revamping My Tumblr Blog
Posted 8 years agoHey Everyone! I just spent the past few days revamping my tumblr blog, with a whole new them, better tagging system, and new features added. You can check it out in the link below! So far, I haven't gotten nearly as big a following on Tumblr as I have on FurAffinity or DeviantArt, despite posting identical content. I would like to start using my tumblr blog as an actual micro-blog where I write about myself and the things I'm interested in. I'm also posting things there that would be inappropriate for DA or FA, like screen shots, as well things that I can't post, like short videos and animations. You can still see the latter on my Youtube channel though. Ultimately I want to attract more people to my blog by offering a unique experience. But what do you think? Are you interested in my blog at all? What would you like to see me post there? Let me know in the comments.

Posting My Old Drawings
Posted 8 years agoI've decided to post some of my old drawings online, mostly because I want to preserve them, and partly to see if anyone actually likes them. I've never been much of a traditional artist. Most of my current work revolves around photography or computer generated art. I know my sketches cannot compare to the rest of the art that's out there, and most of them are only of sentimental value to me. Still, maybe someone out there would like them, and I see no harm in sharing them. Maybe my old drawings were never as bad as I thought. I doubt I will ever be a traditional artist, its just not my thing. Still, if people like my drawings, I might be encouraged to dabble in it once again. Let me know what you think.
A Brief Survey Of Root Finding Methods
Posted 8 years agoSo, now that I have all my stuff moved over to my new Weebly website, I'm back into bloging again! This time I wrote a survey of various root finding algorithms, including the same algorithms I used to generate some of the fractals I've posted. I go into detail regarding the various kinds of root finding algorithms, and when you would want to use which. I also provide test results, derived from the implementation of these algorithms in my Math library. You can check out the code for yourself in my GitHub repository.

Moving My Website
Posted 8 years agoHello All! I'm trying to let everyone know that my old website is moving to a new web address ( http://www.jakesden.com/ ). For those of you interested, you won't be able to find my website at the old address anymore, and the old website will be closed for good on September 17th, 2017. My new website is where you can find my blog, as well as the official downloads page for all the games I will publish, so I highly recommend checking it out! I'm sorry if this feels like Spam, but I didn't want any of my potential followers to be caught off guard by the sudden change. Personally, I think my new web address is more memorable, and will hopefully direct more traffic towards my site.

Copyleft VS Permissive Licenses
Posted 9 years agoHey guys, I wrote another blog about open-source licenses and why I chose to use the one that I did. If you use free art assets in your work, of if you plan to make your work free for others, you should check it out!

I have always been a proponent of the free exchange of ideas and information, supporting organizations like Creative Commons and the Open Source Initiative whenever possible. However, what most people don't know is that there are two distinct types of free content on the internet. The distinction between these two types is a crucial and ongoing argument over what it means exactly for content to be 'free'.

Understanding Branch Cuts
Posted 9 years agoOne thing that my math teachers always said: "You can't take the logarithm of a negative number". Well it turns out that you can, but the answer is complex, in every sense of the word.

I Now Have A Tumblr Blog
Posted 9 years agoSo I started this Tumblr blog a while back, just to see what it was all about. I rather liked the experience, so I think I will keep it. Since Tumblr's whole premise is "post anything and everything", it's possible that you may see some stuff there that you won't see on here. Thus, it may be worthwhile following me on Tumblr, if you are interested.

Should I Post To InkBunny?
Posted 9 years agoI've been wondering for a while weather or not I should start posting stuff to InkBunny again, when I am already posting to DeviantArt, FurAffinity, and SoFurry. I want my work to reach the largest audience possible, but at the same time I worry about spreading myself too thin. It's easier to engage with my viewers if my work isn't so spread out.
Adding InkBunny would give a second home for my fetish stories, which I am either unable or unwilling to post on FA, though I doubt I could use it for much else. As they are a strict furry-only site, I can't post any of my panoramas or fractals. And because they only allow photography for 'things you've made' I can't post my animal photos either. Thus I would mostly be limited to posting stories and artwork I commission.
But what do you guys think? Should I use InkBunny? Would you follow me on InkBunny if I did? If you've used InkBunny, what was your experience? Please let me know in the comments below. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

My Website Is Now Live!
Posted 9 years agoJust wanted to let you guys know I now have my own personal website ( https://www.jacobs-den.org/ ) being hosted by SquareSpace. I plan to use this site as the definitive home for all my games and future projects, as well as serve as a hub for all my on-line activity. So go check it out!
Why I Don't Post Fetish Stories On FA
Posted 9 years agoThis message is primarily for those who used to watch me as zackeryfox, though future visitors may also find it interesting. I have decided not to post any of my extreme-fetish related stories on FurAffinity, for the following reasons:
FurAffinity dose not allow adult art featuring cubs. Because I sometimes use cubs in my adult stories, and I do not wish to censor myself, I can't post those stories here. And because I prefer to keep such stories all in one place, I won't be posting any here.
FurAffinity, to the best of my knowledge, lacks the ability to block certain tags. If someone dose not like my work, there only choice is to block my entire account. Because I post more than fetish stuff here, this means I miss out on potential watchers.
FurAffinity lacks an “Extreme” content rating, instead ending at “Adult”. I prefer to be able to separate my more extreme works from the rest of the regular adult content.
It is my goal to use FurAffinity to promote my furry video games and other projects. To that end, I believe that it is in my best interest to keep the content on this account at a tasteful level, though I may post some adult art from time to time, if I feel it is appropriate.

My License
Posted 9 years agoNOTICE: This is an old version of my license, and is no longer valid. Anyone who downloaded content prior to September 1, 2018 may continue to use and distribute said content under this license. This exemption does not extend to any content downloaded after September 1, 2018.

All of my work, unless otherwise specified, falls under the following license:
You are free to modify and redistribute my work (not including work done for me) as long as you give me credit. It is not necessary to ask my permission. Credit need not be given in-line, but should be easily found. Credit should mention my name (Jacob Dawson) and link back to wherever the work was original found. Works published under the pseudonym Zackery James should be credited in that name.
It is easy to identify work that has been done for me. If I give credit to someone else in the work itself or the description of the work, then it is done for me. In that case you need the permission of that other person in-order to modify or redistribute the work in addition to complying with this license.
You may NOT give credit in such a way as to imply that I endorse your use of my work, or that I support your product or message. You may use my work for commercial, religious, pornographic, or any other intent as long as you follow this rule and all other rules outlined in this license.
If you post fan-art of any of my characters, it must be clearly marked as such. Failure to do so could be considered a form of endorsement, and thus be in violation of the license. Commissions and trades are not considered fan-art, as I am giving you explicit permission to create them.
It is not necessary to inform me of your use of my work, although it is appreciated. If you let me know when you are using my work, I may favorite your use of my work as well as watch or subscribe to your account.
My license falls under the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC-BY). You can read more about this license, including the full legal text here.
I wish I did not have to explicitly state this, but in a world filled with lawsuits and intellectual property it is unfortunately necessary. I hope this will allow you to use and share my work without hesitation. However, if you do have any questions feel free to comment or send me a private message.
