Posted 15 years agoI just got back from my wonderful vacation ;_; and I miss my bed at home already. But alas. Wonderful things happened on my two week break. I spent the first week sewing, the second week at the dentist's, and went to the renaissance festival two weekends in a row. The first day was really fun, and we dressed up and everything, but the second day was frigid and raining. But we stood in it anyway to see Tartanic, because we're troopers.
Now I'm back here at my small dorm room, hating the schedule makers of my school. We usually get a day off during the week (aka no class). but they decided to split our psychology into two 2 1\2 hour classes! So I have class....every day!

SO, I've been suicidally busy lately, too much homework for too many classes, and I gotta finish before Friday because me and muh boo are going for the weekend for one of my family reunions. It's gonna be great. But that means I won't be able to work on anything for school this weekend, so I have to get it done noooowwwwwwww.
Totally flaking on my sculpture. Was doing an octopus, which looks awesome so far. But for time and sanity sake, Imma throw a snail together right quick and turn it in for a grade.
Weird how, right now, when I have the most work to do, I want to draw SUPER BAD.

We started ventilating hair tonight in class, which is essentially latch hooking on a minuscule level. Hard to get the hang of, but when you do, it's super easy and relaxing. Tonight was my first night ever doing it, ever learning, even.
My teacher was very happy in telling us that a girl in our semester from the other class managed to do 7 rows! In the two inch square midterm we started tonight. He was amazed she'd worked so fast.
By the time I left class, I had just started on my 13th row. My goal had actually been to double what she managed to do, so close! But I am super hyped right about now because I think I finally found my niche in the special effects industry. I really did enjoy doing that so much.
Oh, and a fun fact of the day?
In the last Star Wars movie, they had six Wookie suits, and all were hand ventilated. 14 people were employed to make the suits for a pay of $85 dollars an hour. It took them nine months to complete the suits (not straight, lol). But I'm pretty sure you all catch my drift. In this industry, hair ventilating is considered to be a dying art.

Posted 15 years agovacation is over, officially. well, officially last Wednesday. I had a lot of fun, sleeping and hanging out with my dear. I also had a kick-ass 20th birthday last Monday, my friends and roomies threw me a very fun party, loved it. I was able to buy a lot of material and lace and stuff, so I will be set for things to do for a while as well~
I also went to the eye doctor and dished out a painful amount of money for a pair of new, pretty, glasses. Dark purple, silver zebra accent, transition lenses. Amazing. Doc said I am three steps near-sighted in both eyes, wonderful, right? But I love that I can finally see again, and drive at night!
Anyway, as stated above, classes started up again last Wednesday, this semester I have Sculpture 2, Mold Making, Art Appreciation, Hair and Beards, and Airbrushing with Dorian Cleavenger if anyone knows who he is. That was one fucking fun class. And on the bright side, I only have one morning class this semester! On the not so bright side, that one morning class is Art Appreciation. Most boring class ever, I might add. I think the professor was putting -himself- to sleep, along with the rest of us. Fortunately, the way he has it set up, the class sounds super easy.
Umm, depressingly, I had to drive back to Detroit this weekend to take my darling to the airport, all too soon. But I also took some friends with me so they could see my home, which was fun. Oh! Ohoh, funny story about that XD Um:
We were walking through Detroit and had to stop and wait to cross a street. Of course, not everyone waits for the walking man light, but we like to be safe. Well, this group of people came across the street towards us, we were minding our own business (I know I was exhausted from driving all that way). So, as we stood there, a large black lady in the group who just crossed the street out of no where goes to us "Harry Potter is just a movie, okay! Just a movie!" Then she kept walking.
We were like, "......o.O????"
lolwut now? I have absolutely no fucking idea how she attributed anything were were wearing to Harry Potter, seriously. Paula was dressed all cute, my mom looked like my mom, Rachel looked cute and valley-girl-ish, and Guillaume looked like...well, a computer nerd. I was wearing a green dress. Honestly, we were all quite confused as to what she meant. Weak jab, lady. Very weak.
Was it our glasses? Me, mom, and Guillaume all wear glasses. But if that's what she meant, she's better have gone around saying that to every person she met. People have eye problems, lady. Glasses have been around waaaaayyyyy longer than Harry Potter :/
Ahhh, I also brought my baby (cat) home with me, yeay~ He meowed a lot in the car, and was trembling when I finally took him out of his carrier, poor thing. But he's all lovey dovey on me again, so I'm happy. I just cleaned my room up from the mess me and my love had made, it's depressing. I do like my bigger room I moved into though. Everything finally fits pretty comfortably.
I will also be drawing again soon, I promise<3 Now I actually have time -sigh- between classes. Lol, only for about 2-3 weeks though. XD But I will pump some stuff out. For now, I think I'm going to continue listening to One Republic, eat an orange scone and sew ~

Posted 15 years agothat I've been so non-existent. I've just been really super busy, and really super stressed. I finished my first semester! Completely. But I'm not out of the playing field yet, gotta move into a different apartment tomorrow. Monday, I can go home Monday, and sleep for a week, which sounds awesome.
Um, found out I was one of two people who made an A in my special effects class, which made me happy. I also made an A in Anatomy and Anthropology.
I'd be more excited if I didn't feel so dead.
Um, was gonna finish some pictures this weekend, but my tablet's all packed away, so, alas, no. But maybe next week, after I go home, if I'm not, yanno, sleeping.

Posted 15 years agoAlright so, I live in a dorm, and where my room is located, I can hear everyone who holds a conversation in both the living room and kitchen because I am situated between the two. My roomie who live across from me has her fiance living with her as well, and they make dinner every night.
It's always a huge affair with them, they make making dinner sound like the most important topic in the world. Especially her fiance.
But what cracks me up the most, is that the guy doesn't actually cook, but talks about how much he watches cooking shows, and how they do it, and what his girlfriend's doing wrong and that she should do it like them. And then there is his all-time favorite thing to bring up.
His mom.
His mom makes everything heavenly and mouth-watering, and from complete scratch! At least, that's how he makes it sound. Constantly, I hear, "well, mom does it like this-" or "My mom make the best-blahblah-and she does the whole deal, she makes the sauce, the -whatever- -whatever- no one's can top it."
To his fiance, while she's cooking for him.
But the greatest thing I've ever heard come out of her mouth one night was:
him-"Maybe you should turn it over before that, babe, it might burn. Oh, it's gonna burn, use this sauce, but massage it in lightly and turn it over gently-"
her-"Is that how yer mom does it?" -sarcastic-
him- -missing what she said- "huh?"

Best Day Ever?

Today, I had my Cosmetology final, which included turning my model into a celebrity, then a race change. I'll post pictures later when I'm not feeling so lazy, but I am incredibly proud of myself.
Not only did I not get super nervous and have a conniption, but I got a high-five, handshake, HUG (fyi I love hugs), and a "big fat fucking A" from my teacher. It was awesome.
