oi hate my job
Posted 9 years agoand thus life is awful.
I've never wanted to be fired from a job. I've never been fired from a job. But I'll happily accept it from this one. The only reason I don't quit is cuz I got student loans to pay and minimum wage sucks compared to 15/hr. But 15/hr means being berated and abused and demoralized and told to change my personality on the flip of a switch and put up with the utter boredom, confusion, and other bullshit associated with the job. half the time i don't know how to do the job - and if you ask, people snap at you or go 'idk either' - and the other half it's boring as all hell because you're inputing the same bullshit over and over again.
it doesn't help that the ergonomics of the desk are so horrid i'm in pain every single day in the back and neck and arm. fucking rad. i'm sure i'm permanently damaging that without noticing.
i don't want to learn more cuz this was supposed to be a temporary position and now its becoming a ~"career job"~ and that's fucking terrifying to me. it's cubicle paperwork shitty boss hell straight out of every sitcom you've ever seen and i rather be dead than live that life tbh.

Blood tests back
Posted 9 years agokeeping you peeps updated cuz people seemed concerned.
got em back and they're all negative/normal range. (no malaria, mono, thyroid problems)
which is
good
but doesn't explain what's going on
after a bad fever yesterday, the INTENSITY of the aches and weakness has gone down, which is GOOD, but I don't trust it, becuse last week something similar happened for a day or so, and I even was able to run, and the next day it was back to shit.
I woke up with fever this morning and laid there for 5 hours uncomfortable and trying to get it down. I was gonna try and go into work cuz money and promptly passed out. Woke up at 10 and then was up for like 2 hours and pased out until two hours ago so lmao, I'mbatting a thousand.
SO MYSTERIOUS ILLNESS CONTINUES \.o./

Sick Update
Posted 9 years agoSo everyone finally bullied me into going to urgent care even tho my insurance doesn't activate until 5 days from now, but they all got sick of watching me slog around like a dying lump sooo
I went, gonna end up with a $200 bill (@_@) and shocking no one they said "nothing is wrong" on physical examination and just did bloodwork but didn't seem confident that it would result in anything. They did a malaria/mono/etc test, just to rule out it being from ~AFRICA~ but I won't get the results until like 2 days from now.
I'm really not feeling any better. Arguably I'm feeling worse, since I'm breaking a fever every night and struggle to walk up stairs without feeling exhausted by the time I get up (I normally have no problem with this. I run pretty much daily so idk). I argue with myself every morning to calling out of work because even tho it's a sit down job, I slog through the whole day aching and weak and tired.
SOOO...we'll see...????

Mysteriously sick ?
Posted 9 years agoFor a week now I've been so weak and tender and achy coupled with a strange and painful lump found in my pelvis. Now I have pains throughout my lower abdominal area and stabbing pains in the left area. Now I'm bleeding.
BUT GUESS WHAT. I'M AMERICAN SO I HAVE NO INSURANCE YAYAYAYA
My insurance cancelled on me (Thanks Obama!) and so now I"m waiting for new insurance to kick in starting the 1st of the month. I'd go to the doctor, but...you know...then I'd be in debt up to my eyeballs. So I have to wait. But honestly I'm so tired and in pain every day I take ibuprofen just to function, which is totally not normal for me at all. I sleep a lot and it's not helping with the overall malaise and aches. It's like I have a bad cold with all the aches and weakness involved, but no fever/sniffles/etc???
It's honestly kinda awful. I'm basically non-functioning. I was able to go the museum one day and had a good day, but the next day I tried to go out and was so bone tired and achy that I just went home and slept forever. And TMI, I haven't been able to go to the bathroom really. I'm eating the same. I tend to eat pretty well (no processed foods, very little added sugar, vegetables + fruit + lean proteins) so it's not like I changed my diet. But I've been super backed up and when I do go I either have to PEE RIGHT FUCKING NOW and the cup almost runneth over or I'm struggling and putting in a lot of effort just to 'go'. IDK MAN.
IDK WHAT'S GOING ON. MAYBE I'M DYING. \.o./

Who has Djibouti? I has Djibouti.
Posted 9 years agoHaha, get it. Booty.
Anyway, I just got back from Djibouti, as in the small desert country in Africa on Tuesday. I was there as a part of my work, because I was foolish enough to volunteer as tribute for the cause. We are aiding US Citizens and rightful US citizens (Consular Records of Birth Abroads, 'problem cases' etc) as well as spouses of US Citizens escape the Yemeni Civil War. If you don't know about it, it's fine, the western media refuses to report on it for a number of complex reasons, but it boils down to a lot of people displaced because their houses and cities are literally gone, and much of the population that we work with has been waiting it out in the desert refugee camps of Djibouti or Djibouti City.
So I was an overworked paralegal for about a solid week, working good 15 hour days or more while 50+ people "waited patiently" (*LAUGHS BITTERLY*) for the lawyer or me, or our wayward translator.
It was.
An adventure.
There was a malaria scare, a detainment in Dubai in which I got into "police trouble" (which I kinda wear as a badge of pride now), a $900USD jackpot I won, an abandonment at a hotel, street car races in taxis, a collective food poisoning, and the general shit you'd expect from going to a third world country.
AKA
ADVENTURE WAS HAD.
But now I'm back and can be consistent with art again.

Life Update [Sorta??]
Posted 10 years agoI'm moving tomorrow [again] back to the States. I'm awaiting a response from an animation studio. They'll probably say no, but who knows, because a good friend of mine put in a good word for me (but that's happened before and nothing came of it).
I've decided that if nothing comes of it, I'm gonna focus solely on animal/creature animation and bang away until I get into a viz effects studio. It took me this long to figure out that's the type of animation I really care about, instead of scattering my attention to a half dozen types of character animation, too. I think it is/was my cause of losing motivation so quickly. I cared the most and worked the fastest on creature/animal animation, whereas I dragged my feet on character animation stuff.
For now I'm living in a friends house and gonna go back to my paralegal job for now as I either wait for a decision from that studio or to just work on creature animation junk. The job at least pays well and apparently I'm good at it, because my boss likes me there and begged for me to come back, but it's just not my kinda work, though it feels nice to feel like I'm helping people. Dunno. So...we'll see what happens, but at least I have a roof over my head and food.

2015 sucked, 2016 will suck more
Posted 10 years agoJobless and soon to be homeless. I'm really batting a thousand over here. I can't get a job in my field or in a shitty retail place even with a resume that stretches from when I was 16 years old.
I'm just tired. Limited uploads for foreseeable future since my housing situation is deteriorating quickly.
So.
Yeah
"Happy" New Year, I guess.

If you could vote 5 on this guy, I'd appreciate it forever. I'd win $500 USD and paying a US loan with Canadian funds is "fun" to say the least (go have a ball looking at the conversion rate if you want to cringe a little for my poor soul).
ALSO HE GETS MADE INTO A PLUSH.
HOW COOL IS A CHAMELEON PLUSH?
PRETTY DAMN COOL, IF YOU ASK ME.
So go VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

Posted 10 years agoDogs are great.
Who doesn't want a dog? I want a big fluffy one. Like a Newfoundland, Saint Bernard, or a Golden Retriever. GIMME ALL THE FLUFFY. I don't think a dogs a dog unless you can wrastle it so BRING ON THE BIG DOG.
Or a German Shepherd
this random journal was brought to you by getting rid of the other depressing journal
Also I got a job working as a paralegal for now. Still waiting on my visa but someone from Arc productions contacted me about working I think so??

just fuck me right up [venting]
Posted 10 years agoI'm so incredibly angry that I was prevented from going to graduation/convocation because my mom wanted to sabotage the entire event. I tell myself it doesn't matter because it's not like I was a good student or a student of note, but I think I'm just angry that I can't even have control of my life's decisions because I'm constantly trying to bar her from hijacking things and I can't because no one wants to take my feelings into account.
Because fuck what Nate thinks or needs or wants, right? Yeah, fuck it!
It's not like my degree will be put to use. My wrists ache all the time, my back and shoulders ache all the time and I never had that until this year. It feels like it will never go away and I'll never be able to go back to working on anything. I can't afford actual healthcare (literally no money for it) and my insurance covers jack shit. I don't want my grandma paying for it because she's already supporting me with letting me stay in her house.
It's not like I could hold down a full time animation job. The last time I tried that in an internship it was hell on earth. I was so miserable I didn't eat, sleep, anything. I was on pills to stay alive and function and not throw myself off a roof. They said they woulda fired me if I wasn't an intern and in the same breath said I was going to "go far" if I 'got over' whatever it was I was going through.
That experience has coloured my view of jobs since and I'm horrified of getting a career job and immediately being unable to keep up the pace and quality (my last problem at my shitty internship). I don't even know if I want a job where I destroy my wrists and back all day long. For what? I don't even enjoy anything I do anymore. I'm aware that's depression, but haha wheres the money to fix or treat that? No where~
I have an immense lack of self esteem and the more i look back the more i realize it literally goes all the way back into kindergarten age. I've had it 5ever. I was born with it I guess and can't get rid ofi t. I do okay ignoring it for a while and plowing on and then I bomb hard. You can't bomb hard in a career. Bombing hard means you're fired and in this industry, that doesn't look good on you.
So I guess I'm doomed to begging on my hands and knees for menial labor retail jobs and paying off my student loan debt. All I want to do is pay it off and nothing else. I have no other goals or aspirations. I've been so depressed for so long I don't even know if I'm genuinely happy sometimes or if I'm just gotten real good at trying to ignore being sad and beating myself up all the time.
Idk.
Fuck it.

Yiynova MSP19U Tablet for Sale~
Posted 10 years agohttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Yiynova-MSP.....item2c9ba206fc
^^^
The asking price on Amazon is $550 and this comes with a VGA adapter worth $30, so I'm cutting a deal. I'm changing tablet types because of my wrist not liking the lean of Cintiq-like tablets anymore. Feel free to bid, or contact me for a direct sale. I'm about ready to throw myself off a cliff with how much eBay and Paypal double dips into anything resembling a profit these days, ffff.
It's a good lil tablet for not paying $1.5k for a Wacom. I think the only downside is it gives off a slight buzz, but that's no big deal-io. I've drawn all the birds you've seen, for the most part, on this tablet and used it for animation. It's pretty cool.
Thanks for looking~

$25 Custom Handdrawn Animated Icons
Posted 10 years agoMy icon is just a lil example of what you'd get. :D
$25 for 24-30 frame animation in icon and 500x500 form (.swf). Run cycles, expression changes, etc are ideal for a 1 second icon loop. I will happily do longer scenes in the conventional movie format (1280x720). They'd be priced at $25 a sec, which is well below industry standard, and will lack colour unless an additional $5 per second is added to the base per sec price.
Additional examples can be seen here:

How to Train Your Dragon 2 Review (No Spoilers)
Posted 11 years agoHumans are a creature of story.
We always have been.
We have found that our earliest ancestors painted what they seen on cave walls, made lines and waves to highlight movement and sound. Knowledge keepers wove what they knew through stories, to teach children, and sometimes, more importantly, remind adults of what those before us learned from their time on earth.
From tricksters to gods, to spirits and creatures, everything was meant to be a vehicle for knowledge. Whether it was written down or held orally as sacred wisdom, each lesson found its way into a spiritual conscience.
When movies were invented, it was just another way to show people things we liked, things we found interesting, things we thought were important. Some of the earliest pieces of footage are simply of people working, going to school, or coming home from their jobs. Some is of people dancing, laughing, or kissing.
Films since then has been used for good, to promote morality and change, and bad, to propagate some of the worst ideals man has thought up against his fellow man. Along the way, film became advertisement, art, entertainment, education, and so much more. Animation was a further vehicle to continue this trend.
Sometimes the original purpose of story was lost, found again, and lost once more.
Times change, so do our stories.
Dreamworks has come together with its team of some of the most talented animators, programmers, modellers, riggers, texture artists, and much more, to bring us the essence of story.
We are not merely watching a story, we are living it, as we share with characters some of the same things we experience in life. Its rare to connect fundamentally with so many characters, and rarer still for those characters to be found in a world created to be immersed in, with a world similar enough to ours to live through it.
To remind us that we are creatures, like all other creatures, and our stories are so similar, and yet so different, that an energy can be felt through the same story through so many people who hear it.
Movies are our generation’s stories, our lullaby before bed, our generation’s late night campfires. And though they cannot replace those avenues of story and never will, Dreamworks has come close.
And that’s real magic.
