It's Been 84 Years... (Important, Please Read!!)

ANYWAYS, onto the point of the journal: I'm moving! Not in real life (again) but on FA, for the first time in seven years. I've been here since 2006, and moved to Jawbone in 2010, and now, in 2017, I'm moving again, this time to BlackFoxGuts.
I've been taking this name around the internet for the past few months on a couple different places, so it's not just a snap decision, like Jawbone was.
I took this name because I jumped between fursonas and characters that I didn't want a screen name that was attached to any of them, so I picked a word that had nothing to do with anything... and that's exactly what I got. I don't care about it, and I've never felt like it was me? People associate it with me because it's who I've always been to anyone that knows me, but I strongly dislike being called Jawbone. Strangers and customers and watchers alike don't know any better, so I've never raised much of a fuss about it, but... I always immediately have the reaction to correct them. It's not me.
Jessi has been around for a year, she's the most comfortable I've ever been with a fursona, and I don't see her going anywhere. She's my face in the fandom, and I'm absolutely okay with that, so I don't mind finally having a screen name that connects to a character.
Because of this, people have asked whether they should continue to call me Toby (my personal name) or Jessi (my 'sona's name), and honestly, I don't mind either way! Whichever you'd like is fine with me.
Another reason I have is that this account is tied to old partners, old memories, and old notes that I can't dig back far enough to get to, all of which cause me stress. Obviously, a lot of good has come from here, too. Good friends, positive growth, and a lot of acknowledgement as an artist, but all of that came to me, not the account.
This account will be staying the way it is. Nothing will be taken down, nothing will be removed.
I don't know what this account will become from here out, whether it will become a commission account, or simply a place to showcase and document my growth as an artist.
Uh... I think that's about it.
I'll probably keep cross posting here and on that account, at least for a little bit, until people get the idea that I'm moving over.

Posted 8 years agoI got my new tablet, which freed up a lot of time, and I've gotten some practice in with it, so I think it's time... Commissions are open again.
I have a trade to get done first, so turnaround time will vary and I can't give a very good estimate, but... Hey, y'all have seen my turnaround time before.

Short Hiatus

I'm gonna be taking a short break from everything. From twitter and telegram and discord and FA. I keep pushing myself to be there for everyone and do my best, and it's finally showing.
I'm always tired, I'm always sad, I always feel really empty.. and I think if I take some time just for me and my "real" life, I can get back on my feet a little.
so, it might be a few days, or it might be longer. We'll see.

Because I Keep Being Asked!~
Posted 8 years agoI don't mind being asked, I just feel bad giving so many people individual no's.. so I figured I'd go ahead and make a journal explaining my current stance/situation/whatever on commissions, trades, collaborations, and requests, here goes:
Commissions: Commissions are currently closed. They have been for a fair bit now, and will be until??? February? Something like that. I rarely get any time to do digital art currently. I'm always out of the house and don't have access to a portable computer, but boyfriend is helping me save up for an iPad Pro and an apple pencil so that I'll be able to work on things outside of the house. They will open again, I promise! Just... not for a while. ;w;
Trades: Trades are generally only offered to my closest friends and tend to be suggested in shouting matches where we both want art from each other and accidentally suggest a trade lmao. If anything, this is the only one that might occasionally be offered to mutuals (both twitter and here), but even then, I'd be hella picky.. so they're safe to list as a NO.
Collaborations: Collabs are another thing that are offered to close friends. I've only offered them to three, in fact. They're not something I enjoy doing on a large scale unless I know the person, so... ye. These are pretty much closed.
Requests: You can ask if you want I guess, but there's a slim to none chance it'll get drawn. This is true for friends and strangers alike. I suck at remembering the things people tell me to draw, or I'm not interested in. Most if not all of the things you see me draw for free for other people were gifts that I decided all on my own to draw, and was never pushed or asked into drawing them.
SO THERE WE GO I hope that clears up everything!

Posted 9 years agoI'm sure some of you have noticed that my posting here has become rarer and rarer and sometimes it'll be weeks before you all see anything from me, and I apologize for that.
I don't have a lot of time to myself, and what I do get, I don't necessarily spend drawing, or drawing anything worth posting.
I do, however, doodle a lot, even when I'm out of the house. These doodles are traditional and don't get put up here, but they do get posted to twitter more often than not.

Posted 9 years agoI think I got this figured out: it's easier for me to sketch on paper (not to mention I have more time and access to that medium) and then line and color digitally.
I know my current commissions are colored sketches, but because of my current limitations, I think they'll have to be handled like that and will be bumped up to lines and flat colors (without an increase in price, of course).
My current queue is five drawings long, and all will be bumped up without charge. I appreciate your ongoing patience with me, and these will be done asap. <3

Posted 9 years agoI did not mean for commissions to take this long, I really didn't, and I know I keep making journals explaining why and when and how I'm gonna get them done, but this is getting insane, and I'm tired.
Lemme explain why:
There are 168 hours in a week. 120 in a "work week". I spend anywhere from eight to twelve of those every day of the work week out doing things to help my mom, so 40-60 hours, every week, gone. I sleep from about 2 to whenever my mom needs me up. (Usually 9-10) When I get the chance to sleep in, like on weekends, I do. I sleep in until 1 or 2.
So on a normal week, I get about 8 hours of sleep, which is another 40 hours a week. I get a couple hours with my partner every night. (From about 12-2) Ten hours.
In the hours I get to spare, I'm sleeping.
Sometimes, when my mom is feeling particularly generous, she'll give me a day off. A single day a week to do whatever I want, and I'm usually asleep, or, if I can motivate myself to do it, drawing for myself, because I do not have time to draw for myself.
What about weekends, you say? Boyfriend is home on weekends, and we can actually do things, and spend time together when things aren't closed. We can be a normal couple and our options aren't limited to walmart for once.
It also doesn't help that even on weekends, we have a desktop computer, in the "central" room in the house, sitting in the corner, with the screen facing the room, and I don't really like people watching over my shoulder, so I get too uncomfy to draw, but I can't justify making him leave the room for such long spans of time as it would take me to finish a commission.
If I had a laptop, it would be easier to not be confined to a corner, and not feel like I'm being watched, and still be able to spend time with Ross, but that's nowhere in the budget anytime soon, so... i dunno what to do, other than to ask your continued patience while I try to figure out how to manage... this.

Posted 9 years agoFinally got set up with a neurologist again. Not sure how much it's gonna cost, but because the insurance we applied for hasn't been accepted or denied quite yet, it's gonna need to be paid out of pocket.
I figured I'd go ahead and help out a bit.
I'll be opening for a number of sketch commissions. If you've asked for one before that I've cancelled, you will be guaranteed a slot if you comment, and otherwise, it's first come, first serve, up to ten.
These will be sketches, or colored sketches. The former being 15$, the latter being 20$, and extra characters costing half the piece. (So a two piece sketch would be 22 and colored it would be 30$.)

Fucked up a little and drawing is taking a break
Posted 9 years agoLong story short, I was making food that required hot oil, and a good amount splattered out and got my right arm.
Drawing requires I put a fair amount of pressure on that arm, and that's just.. Not something I'm up for atm.

Been feeling super detached from the fandom

I just don't feel like I have a face to present to the fandom anymore? I don't really have a fursona and that's a really weird feeling to me? The easter bun is a mascot if anything, and I never feel a real connection with any sona's I try to make.
