General | Posted 9 years agoI've fallen into probably one of THE worst slumps i've ever had. Usually it's little things like "oh i don't like how i line" or "i don't like the brushes i'm using" or "i wanna change how i draw this" something small like that. But the past week or so has been absolutely dreadful (I know it's mostly in part of being low on spoons as personal shit Gets Worse but u know...)
It feels like..i've completely forgotten how to draw? I've been struggling with fullbodies (what a time after taking sketches lmao) I've been trying to doodle something every day to try and get back into it but, it feels impossible at this point. I was able to do headshots but now even those are becoming a hassle. It feels like my style isn't..mine anymore? If that makes sense ahaha
I don't know what happened. But I was wondering if anyone had like, any tutorials or advice for dealing with something like this? I've been watching art videos in hopes of kick starting myself back into doing something and maybe finding something that'll work for me. I wanted to take some time while I have a little leeway with financial responsibilities to kinda focus on developing my style more (or figuring it out at this point lol) so..commissions might be closed indefinitely this month. General | Posted 9 years agoI changed my TOS up a bit (i did this last week but forgot to mention it LMAO). It's mostly just how it's set up, moved it back to a Weebly page instead of having it on my art blog aahaha. But all the info is still the same as it's been when I first made my TOS years ago LOL.
But i've added a price section on there so it'd be a little easier to have all the info in one place (including my what I will/will not draw list) vs linking people to everything separately or trying to outline everything whenever I open for commissions via journals (or whenever I bring twitter back, via tweets).
So yah!!! Just wanted a heads up that everything is in one place now and hopefully should be easier for people to find what they're looking for! <: I haven't had any major issues with people breaking my terms of service thankfully, y'all are great <33 but just wanted to update everyone on that front! okay so, hah, i've talked about my issues before and unfortunately i'm hoping the first idiot I talked to was right and that in a few days my limit will either be lifted or increased. But now another issue has popped up
My debit card being declined for literally no reason. I have more than enough funds to pay for what I needed (which was a total of $3.46 mind you) and yet, card was declined. Okay. I called, and they basically were just like " ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ we'll look into it". Since their website is horribly outdated and the Resolution Center is useless, I checked the forums to see if there was any recent activity and BOW HOWDY apparently people have been having this issue for years? And a lot of them were like my situation, paying for something less than $10 and having money both in their PP balance as well as their back up balances and yet their cards STILL get declined.
Has anyone else has this issue lately?
According to people in the forums (a lot of these are recent, like 2-3 months ago recent) Paypal is trying to change how people can use their cards with no intent on informing people of these changes, or their changing the algorithm so basically that you NEVER EVER KNOW if your card is gonna work or not.
WHATEVER THE REASON, this is a fucking disaster and puts me in even more of a rough financial spot because now not only do I have to wait for them to deem me able to make and have access to my own damn money, but now I have to worry about them randomly just declining my card for no reason. I hate going out because oh man is my card gonna work? am I gonna be able to even get cash back to have cash set aside in case this happens? Am I gonna have to go to the store and then leave all my shit behind because Paypal can't figure out what they need to do (it ain't rocket science) to be a decent company???? SHRUGs
So yah if peeps have had issues lemme know. Also hey if you use Squarecash or Google Wallet for commissions i'd love to hear some feedback on using those! If paypal refuses to just Try then i'm gonna try switching over to those but it's hard since PP has been a huge part of artists/commissioners lives but I literally cannot afford this bullshit PP is dishing out ;;

General | Posted 9 years agoFirst my internet was out, and then I got sick literally a day later :'^) this is why i've been hella slow with replying and sending things out. I got a few more headshots done yesterday that im gonna be sending out in a moment and then im hoping to get the remaining few at least sketched out.
All this shit couldn't have happened at a worst time x~x; but thankfully i'm feeling loads better than I have the past 2 days. I still have a nasty cough and minor aches, but I've been able to get sleep due to being able to breathe again. So I use whatever energy I can to work on what I have left to owe!!! (which I need to get done because I need grocery money soon so i'm hoping i'm back in shape soon, need to open for some stuff)

General | Posted 9 years agomy internet has been down since yesterday and still is because at&t has really dumb hours for calling customer service so !!!!!! i'm doing everything from my phone right now. I'm still getting commissions done, and i'm so sorry that this had to happen when it did :/ i'm frustrated and annoyed, but im doing my best to both get this fixed, and get commissions done.
I would really prefer to wait until my internet is back up (hopefully tomorrow or over the weekend at the latest) to send out commissions files as it would be more efficient, but if anybody wants me to send them like, a screenshot or something of proof that i'm either working on yours or have yours one, feel free to let me know and i'll try my best to get that sent your way!

I got an ask on my art blog talking about someone using my name and icon on discord and they're spamming people with emoticons, friend requests and such and I wanna let people know:

The only account on the internet that goes by âjayboppityâ or some variant of it are my this account, and my art blog (listen in my profile)
If you added this account or they added you, just immediately block and remove them. They arenât me and if theyâre sending gross, hateful or even just reposting my work and pretending to be me, it isnât me lmao (i rarely share my art, even personal stuff via messengers ) It has to be either someone who knows me, or of me so they have to be around here or tumblr bc I don't have my twitters up anymore.

A good way to know if itâs me or a fraud is this:
- I DO NOT just give out my username to people and add just anybody. Iâm really reserved, emotionally/mentally exhausted and donât socialize much outside of my usual group anymore. If someone with that name is running around spamming friend requests at you or someone you know, it's not me
- In addition, I donât publicly announce my usernames for personal messengers. I ALWAYS require people to note/message me privately for that info, or I'll note them privately (and only when I explicitly ask for it)
- ALSO I NEVER ADD PEOPLE WITHOUT ASKING. I hate when people do it to me, and I donât like doing that to other people. If youâre getting friend requests on sites and messengers from someone claiming to be me, itâs not me.
I DONâT USE THE NAME JAYBOPPITY/JBOPPITY ON PERSONAL MESSENGERS. (aside from skype but that's been my account name since 2010 and im hardly there anymore anyways) Iâm not fond of the username anymore and donât like using it for personal things and only have it as my FA (since i canât change my username here) and my tumblr art blog (jboppity). THATâS IT. I donât like attaching these names to any personal messengers because it's not something I connect with anymore. Hasn't been for years.
- If the account is sending terrible things, hateful things/messages/images, IT IS NOT ME. I do not send image, memes, links to tweets/text posts that are advocating racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or anti lgtbqa or minority ideals. Or making fun of these groups. This is an automatic red flag and the account should be blocked/banned/reported immediately

If you added this account or they added you, just immediately block and remove them. They arenât me and if theyâre sending gross, hateful or even just reposting my work and pretending to be me, it isnât me lmao (i rarely share my art, even personal stuff via messengers ) It has to be either someone who knows me, or of me so they have to be around here or tumblr bc I don't have my twitters up anymore.

A good way to know if itâs me or a fraud is this:
- I DO NOT just give out my username to people and add just anybody. Iâm really reserved, emotionally/mentally exhausted and donât socialize much outside of my usual group anymore. If someone with that name is running around spamming friend requests at you or someone you know, it's not me
- In addition, I donât publicly announce my usernames for personal messengers. I ALWAYS require people to note/message me privately for that info, or I'll note them privately (and only when I explicitly ask for it)
- ALSO I NEVER ADD PEOPLE WITHOUT ASKING. I hate when people do it to me, and I donât like doing that to other people. If youâre getting friend requests on sites and messengers from someone claiming to be me, itâs not me.
I DONâT USE THE NAME JAYBOPPITY/JBOPPITY ON PERSONAL MESSENGERS. (aside from skype but that's been my account name since 2010 and im hardly there anymore anyways) Iâm not fond of the username anymore and donât like using it for personal things and only have it as my FA (since i canât change my username here) and my tumblr art blog (jboppity). THATâS IT. I donât like attaching these names to any personal messengers because it's not something I connect with anymore. Hasn't been for years.
- If the account is sending terrible things, hateful things/messages/images, IT IS NOT ME. I do not send image, memes, links to tweets/text posts that are advocating racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or anti lgtbqa or minority ideals. Or making fun of these groups. This is an automatic red flag and the account should be blocked/banned/reported immediately
-Throwing this in there too I DONâT USE INSTAGRAM FOR ART AND MY TWITTERS ARE DEACTIVATED AND I DONâT HAVE AN ART TWITTER. If you see my art posted anywhere else, please let me know and also report them if you can.
SO YEAH. Just figured i'd give people a heads up here too. I don't have a big internet presence outside of FA and my art blog on tumblr, so it's someone from here or there that has nothing better to do with their time lol. Just ignore them and feel free to note me if you see anyone pretending to be me or stealing/reposting my art.
I always let people know if i'm moving accounts, so if you don't see anything either here, twitter (which is deactivated right now anyways) or my art tumblr (listed in my profile), then the new account claiming to be a "i moved this is my new account" is not me. Thanks peeps!!!

General | Posted 9 years agoMMMMMKAY so i called again after more concerns and once again, got a completely different answer from a different person. So how I do commissions is gonna change until PP deems me fit to accept my own money without putting holds on it, sticks leggy up
Right now, i'm gonna be going back and contacting people who've commissioned me recently (not including the busts i took yesterday until I get them done) and ask for people who've attached a billing address to mark it as received on their end, since apparently that can help me get access to my held money quicker. From what i've been told, I have to have 90 days of good sales with no complications in order for them to (maybe) give me access to all the funds they're withholding from my balance. I'm assuming all those orders I have "yet to ship out" don't make my account look good lmao. So hopefully customers understand and can help me out on their end with this ;;
I also hope peeps can help me with future commission transactions to help either get this limit increased sooner or lifted entirely. It's all essentially just marking the item as received/shipped on your end so Paypal doesn't think I'm running off with anyone's money and making a bad name for them (even tho they do a good enough job of this themselves l o l)
IT'S JUST...frustrating...apparently after 3 or so months I won't have to worry about this (so they say) since it's all because i'm listed in the system as a new customer, but I literally....LITERALLY.. cannot afford them to keep 100+ dollars from me for 21 days when I need money for food throughout the week. 3 months isn't long to a corporate company but for someone with financial issues (like a lot of other people) 3 months is a TERRIBLY LONG TIME. 6 months is fucking worse.
SO YEAH SORRY THIS GOT VENTY AGAIN but I just want people to know what's up, return customers and new ones alike. There is very little I can do now except go back and get some of these "unshipped" transactions taken care of to clean up my account activity some and just keep this method up until I can either increase it or remove this limit entirely ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ that being said, work on commissions is gonna be the same. The money gets sent to my account and all so I work right when I get it and send it out when I get it done so the only extra step is the commissioner marking it as received when they get their commission and lemme know if they're happy with it~! I'm still looking into options like squarecash and such since it looks pretty easy and it doesn't seem like people need to have a SquareCash account to use it ??? (im still reading heavily into it to make sure) BUT WE'LL SEE I GUESS

Anyways, Paypal now has it so that I have a limit of how much money I can earn, and any extra is held for 21 days before it's available for me to use. And I understand why they're doing it and all, but it's still kinda annoying that I have to wait 6 months before I can even ATTEMPT to request an increase so I don't have to worry about funds being held and then i'm screwed until the next month.
As I said, I understand what they're trying to do, but what pisses me off the most is the fact I called twice and had to deal with two different people each time, and every single one of them has told me something that contradicts the other. It's like nobody is on the same page over there lmao. SOOOOOO this just messes me up because now I have to be super vigilant with how much money i'm making. Which sucks because this means that I can't even prepare for emergencies because hEY I CAN'T ONLY USE X AMOUNT PER MONTH BETTER USE IT WISELY LOL. Until March apparently then I can request an increase which still doesn't guarantee me anything :x So i have to kind of restructure my whole work ethic to match this WHICH IS REALLY HARD and i'm freaking out and it's probably not as bad as i'm making it out to be but....rip..

It's linked on my profile for easy access and it's updated in real time whenever I get work done on a commission and I also use it to post updated on delays or anything that might hider progress on the queue! <: (though if it's anything serious I usually email customers individually so they're kept in the know)
Also I just wanted to thank everyone for their patience when working with me. Some days are better than others and I've been having a huge issue with getting work done due to personal issues lately. It's frustrating after having such a wonderful week with art to suddenly feel like I can't do a damn thing, but i'm trying my best to chip away at everything as much as I can. My current set up is in such a way that I can't really take a break from things and I consistently have to open for things in order to help decently around the house, so I try to get as much progress done before opening for more things.
I know i'm not very social anymore and verbally expressing my gratitude is sometimes rough but I really do appreciate all of yah who've commissioned me either just once or multiple times. It means a lot to me and I'm so happy to have understanding people willing to wait and work with me and my issues (in a way?) to ensure that I'm doing a good job!! I keep trying my absolute best for you guys and i can only hope to get better and better!
BUT YEAH TL;DR commission progress is slowing down but i'm hoping that this art block and personal issue funk i'm in lifts soon so that I can speed things up a bit!! Remember to check the queue periodically and if you have any concerns about your commission status feel free to email me (preferably) or not me and i'll get back to you asap!
