Blah blah Happy Holidays, Christmas, Jesus, New Years
General | Posted 14 years agoSrsly have a good one. I know I will. If you're not, that's your problem, don't rub it off on me. >:| Christmas has become so informal at this point. Does it even have to be a holiday associated with Christianity?
Gonna see how quickly I can finish up my lovey dovey drawing of my
and I. He knows it's a Christmas gift.. but.. I gotta get it done! He gets to be the last one to have the old Jazz before I push over into my new Design. He will be in my arms soon enough!
Then me pinned to the floor.... squirming.. mmmm....
mmm
ohggod. <3 I love this guy.
That wasn't very christmassy... then again.. <3 don't care.
My college career is over for now and my 20 credit semester wasn't too terrible ( A, A, A-, A-, B ). I'm waiting on my diploma and refund of the financial aid they forgot to apply to this semester. Website redesign is in order to display my new grown fondness of HCI. I'm Currently snooping around for jobs which can promote my design and marketing strategies experience. Don't want to end up like... drawing dicks on furries for a living. :|
Go get drunk and celebrate Jesus for promoting American consumerism!

Those 15 Sketches.
General | Posted 14 years agoDon't worry. :U I'll be getting to them.
I stopped due to college and the super-annoying-life-sucking 20 credits I'm taking this semester. After this semester I'm done with school, and looking to get back to work as a designer for a Large Food & Beverage company. This semester has been pretty amazing though, the depth and reach of the topics I'm learning about is really going to enhance my design process and methodology.
List of Remaining Sketches:
If I'm feeling particularly generous or liking how its coming out I'll turn it into somethin more.

If I haven't watched you, sorry, I'm being more discreet with who I watch at this point. I don't care how well you draw penis on doggies; it's not gonna make me watch you. My inbox is filled with artwork that doesn't even appeal to my tastes as it is. :V If you're a friend, then of course. <3
OH OH!
I was testing 13x19 paper with my Canon Pro 9000 Mark II Printer... woah muh god. http://yfrog.com/z/h7ncdhxj It printed

Comparison meme? Nope. If you're adventurous, my mug is on twitter.

General | Posted 14 years agoYou want to forget, you want to not give a damn, but sometimes you just can't. You stay awake at night, looking blindly up to the ceiling. Then you close your eyes, but it plays out in your head. Something so important, influential, integral to your life cannot be forgotten. You feel like an idiot.
This is just how it’s supposed to be. It's time to be looking to the future. ~<3

Stop Being Terrible
General | Posted 14 years agoSeriously, shut the fuck up. If you don't like paypal, oh noes, find another service. It's their service, play by their rules. Instead of QQing about it you should all be discrete. Don't put "Two dogs fucking eachother" in the transaction description. Don't post anything about FA. "Artwork Commission" won't raise any flags. They can do whatever the heck they want and at their own discretion, so the best you can do is not fucking spill the beans over what you just commissioned/purchased.
Yes I'm aware of that e-mail message circulating, this doesn't mean you should be overly specific in your transaction details.

General | Posted 14 years agoPatience [opinion]
General | Posted 14 years agoThis is a journal that is highly critical of the current social climate within the furry fandom.
I've observed a few things about this fandom over the course of my tenure here. The priorities of the fandom seem to be set on creation and consumption. This draws heavily from the ideology of American culture of consumerism. What's missing from this fandom is the idea of saving and investment in the future. At times, this fandom drives me absolutely insane.
I've single-handedly watched people go through turmoil trying to maintain a lifestyle which is absolutely unsustainable. We're not all blessed liking what we do for a living. In some instances you have to do work now to supply and realize your dreams later. This idea seems lost in the fandom. Dismissing this argument means your lazy, unfit for society, and life. The world does not conform around you, don't expect it to. This ideology will result in your demise, thus, take caution.
I've seen journal after journal about being unable to afford "X, Y and Z". Before you go and commission or donate to someone, you have to consider your predicament and your situation. Will commissioning someone make it more unlikely to go to a con or get your computer replaced if it dies? Even worse: prevent the bills from being paid? These things need to be considered before you click that donate link. In some instances you should be mindful of yourself before being mindful of others. Generosity is good, but being cautious and aware of your own situation should take priority.
Multifaceted (n) - many-sided: having many aspects, abilities.
This is something we should live by. We should strive to learn and do as many things as we possibly can. Why? This creates importance and value. If you can do many things you're a more valuable person. If you're an artist, you should also be a designer. The two fields are close: art is creative and design is both creative and objective. Design is art but not all art is design.
Here's my scenario: I'm an industrial designer and graphic designer. This grants me multiple abilities. I can develop and solve problems through ideation, iteration and innovation. Conversely as a designer, I'm also granted the ability to be a product developer, marketer and project manager. HCI and Interface Designer are also applicable. I also have very good technical skills with CAD, Computers and some Programming. What does this allow me to do? I can now fit in several facets of careers, and I can maintain that career through my wide and varied skillset.
If you prescribe to the idea that being an artist will yield you money, you are mistaken. This profession is nothing like that of an engineering or information technology. Going to school for art does not change this fact. Art is a novelty, not a necessity. This is the idea that distinguishes designer from artist. The objective and problem solving nature of design allows for a more functional place in the greater part of society. If you're in art, you're doing it solely for passion, so don't complain when society won't allow for it through social Darwinism.
My philosophy has always been to save and create your own economic security. Once that security has been obtained, feel free to give and use money as you see fit while maintaining security.
Conclusion: Save money in anticipation of future problems. Resist the urge to spend unless needed. Commission people and donate when your not strapped for cash. Invest in your future and try to develop your skillset. Multifaceted = Good.
Patience is Rewarded

Hey Steve,
General | Posted 14 years agoThanks. I might not have been a fan of yours, but I can admire your drive to change the world. In some sense that's rubbed off on many of us. All of us should strive to be a part of the world in a bigger way. Ask yourself: why not change the world?
Say what you want about Apple. I'm not exactly enthusiastic about Apple's business, but that stands for the modern corporation as a whole. Let's take a look at what exactly Steve has done here. He's re-defined the interaction and the experience and how we think about technology. As an Industrial Designer, I appreciate this. No where else can we find such attention to detail, and intricate mindset where "less is more." He's responsible for pushing the envelope of design, engineering and in essence responsible for our modern technological state we're in today.
What if Steve wasn't there? What would our computer world be like today? It's worth wondering how the course of technologies, computers and gadgets would have been different if under another mind; if IBM got its way. Love em' or not, we owe this man something.
Thanks for making a difference in the world.

Personalizing your Experience: FA

This isn't against MLP. I do not care for it. I've finally brought this out of the woodwork since I think it's time to take control of how you want this site to look. I've always disliked banners which don't fit the aesthetic of the website. But that's up to you to control. Fortunately we have ways to enhance or personalize our browsing experience through extensions and addons. In many cases you can override the color scheme and overall look of the site.
"FOR PEOPLE WITH A SENSE OF ADVENTURE ONLY
I have uploaded my set of scripts I've been personally using for making FA a bit more usable:
To use these userscripts, you need one of the following:
a) Google Chrome
b) Firefox with the Greasmonkey extension installed ( find Greasemonkey here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fi...../greasemonkey/ )

Misc fixes : images wider then your browser will be scaled down, one-line "broken" comments won't scroll off the page, and usericons are 100px square
http://krhainos.tk/nofalogo-d.user.js (dark theme users)
http://krhainos.tk/nofalogo-l.user.js (light theme users)
For those that don't like new banner images. Sorry about the "flicker" problem where you see the original image for a split second -- not sure there's much I can do that as userscripts are rendered AFTER pages are fully downloaded. "

My design co-op at the largest food and beverage corporation is coming to a close. As such I will be ridiculously busy. I will be starting my final semester in September.

Joel Burns, It does get better. Draft.
General | Posted 14 years agoCNN Aired a Special about "Sissy-Boys Therapy," and after watching this special, I left feeling angry and depressed that this was allowed to happen.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art.....s-suicide.html
I stumbled upon[again] Joel Burn's Speech to the City Council in Fort Worth City, TX.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax96cghOnY4
I was thinking of writing him.
Joel Burns,
It does get better.
After being upset so much by the recent CNN story about “Sissy-Boy” Therapy, I decided to look up your speech to the City Council. After watching, I felt compelled to write you. I have a story to share; a story about me that I feel encompasses the fear of being different, and a fear that prevented me from being myself.
Years ago, I was bullied and picked on in middle school. I was called terms that only confused me and created self-doubt. But being so young, our mind is impressionable, moldable, easily warped. Words words words… those words pushed me into a corner. I inferred that I was different, and not in a particularly good way. I avoided certain people and places; adjusted my world to fit in their own. I ended up putting on a façade. I guess you could say that I’m one to internalize and endure feelings and emotions, but you can only keep the façade going for so long. One thing that can be said: no one should ever have to question their existence on this planet.
There were two faces that I used to represent myself: My external face, cheerful and chipper presentation to the world, and my personal internal conflicting face, which would never be shown. In High School I started to develop gradations of these layers, selectively divulging personal information about myself. Then I discovered the internet. I felt that I could hide behind the big anonymous world that the Internet was [and still is to some degree]. I could talk with people who were like me. I discovered that I was indeed not alone. I feel as this kept me going.
I’m now 22. It took a while, with much contemplation and agony, but I did finally come out. I was motivated by two guy friends of mine. I watched them grow independently and then together. They now have a civil union, live together in a house in the Atlanta Suburbs. I wanted a piece of that life. There was no reason to be alone because I couldn’t muster up the courage to tell my parents. These friends urged me many times before to come out. I knew that my parents would accept and love me no matter what choice I made, or who I’d be with. I told them finally, March of this year, that I am indeed gay. They embraced me with open arms, and told me that they’d love me no matter what.
The immense weight that has lifted off my shoulders is indescribable. With certainty, I can say that my life can finally start. You were right, Joel, it does get better.
