2019: (hopefully) more money, fewer problems
General | Posted 7 years agoI'm hoping 2019 will be more financially stable for me. My accounts kept getting drained last year due to all the work needed on my car and my teeth. I got a debit card recently so I won't have to use my credit card as often. The only car work I need so far this year is to fix a loose rear panel and a tear in the driver's side upholstery.
My condo's water heater kicked the bucket a few days before Christmas. I was able to get a new water heater installed on Christmas Eve.
One of my Christmas gifts this year was a panda bear plush with website information on naming a star through the International Star Registry. Looking up the website, I discovered the Shining Stars company actually went out of business years ago.
I didn't quite reach my weight loss goal for 2018. I wanted to get below 300 pounds. I managed to hover around 305-312 and ended the year at 310. I tried on a pair of 2XL pants to see if they fit. They just do, though they will fit more comfortably when I lose another 15-20 pounds.
My 2019 resolutions are:
1. Get weight below 290 and/or within 2XL range
2. Reduce my total debt by 15-20%
3. Attend Furry Fiesta, DenFur and (maybe) Furlandia
4. Take a Christmas week vacation

Happy (and sad) update, plus DenFur
General | Posted 7 years agoIn addition to delivering food for UberEats, I began working for DoorDash in July. DoorDash has a much wider variety of restaurant clients, and I can deliver in the Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins areas. During one delivery to an apartment complex, I saw one apartment had the movie Bolt playing on a big screen TV. I remembered watching the movie for the first time years ago. Susie Essman was the voice of Mittens the cat. Since Susie Essman is also known for playing Susie Greene on Curb Your Enthusiasm, I kept imagining Mittens calling Bolt a fat fuck.
I ordered the Isle of Dogs DVD/BluRay pack. I don't have a BluRay player yet, but I'll try to save up for one by sometime next year.
On the night of August 5, I had just gotten home from making deliveries when my dad called to say my mom had passed away. She had been diagnosed with ALS 14-15 years ago and was bedridden since 2006 due to respiratory failure. Her funeral on the 18th went well and the weather was great. While I am sad that my mom is gone, I'm also thankful she isn't suffering any more.
This month's FoxTrot meet took place at the new Hamburger Mary's, just down the street from the old Mary's/M-Uptown. The back patio was crowded, though it spread out more inside after 10:00 when the drag queen event had ended. The special pins made for the event had sold out before I could get one. The only thing about Mary's which sucked was it only had street parking. I just barely squeezed into a space near the bar after circling the block a few times.
ON TO DENFUR! I stayed in a room with Sawblade5/Victor Redtail. We both went to Broncos Field at Mile High on Thursday. Victor had me take pictures of him in his hawk fursuit holding a Chiefs banner. That night, we saw the movie The Happytime Murders. On Friday, we went to Coors Field for a Rockies vs. Cardinals game. The Rockies lost 7-5.
Everyone at the hotel got an early wake-up call on Saturday when the fire alarm went off. One of the hotel staff members had accidentally set it off. I suited in the fursuit parade and was actually in the front row for the fursuit photo. At closing ceremonies, the con staff announced 2,086 people attended this year and raised $15,000 for Freedom Service Dogs. I ended the night at the hotel bar with several other furries.
The one complaint many people had about the hotel this year (as well as during RMFC 2016) was the extra-long hallway between the smaller event rooms and the larger main event rooms. Hopefully next year's DenFur can find a hotel with a less-exhausting layout.

I finally found weekday work
General | Posted 7 years agoI don't want to say this is only good or bad news as it's a mix of both. My hours at work were cut roughly in half since parts of my former shifts are now handled by the robots. On one hand, I won't make as much money. On the other hand, I don't have to sit around at work for four extra hours with nothing to do. I will also have more time after work to relax/nap before Saturday night activities like Foxtrot or Steelwoulfe's game night.
I recently applied to work for some of the online food delivery services and was hired by UberEats. I made my first four deliveries this afternoon: three from McDonald's and one from a sushi restaurant. Tomorrow, I plan to focus mainly on downtown since that area is much more active. I figure I could make up for my lost weekend hours by making deliveries 9-10 hours a week.

Looking for new trotting space again
General | Posted 7 years agoLast week, the Denver Wrangler nightclub announced it would close in late-June. This is the current club where the Foxtrot meet is held. The early-June meet will still happen, but meet organizers are already looking for a new venue for the next time. These are the clubs where Foxtrot has been held so far:
Fox Bar, Fort Collins (July 2011; bar closed due to fire in August)
Aqua Lounge, Denver (October 2011-October 2015; Group grew too big for the bar)
X Bar, Denver (August 2012; special "pre-RMFC" FoxTrot)
Hamburger Mary's/M-Uptown (December 2015-December 2016; closed)
Denver Wrangler (February 2017-June 2018; closing in late-June)
Speaking of bars, I had an AMF drink at a sports bar during Cinco de Mayo. Either that bar's AMFs are weak, or the Foxtrot bars' AMFs are stronger.

Furry Fiesta brief-cap
General | Posted 8 years agoThe tenth edition of Furry Fiesta moved to a new hotel this year. I had a blast as I usually do.
THURSDAY: I left home just after 4 AM and got to the hotel around 7 PM. I stopped for breakfast in Raton, NM, then drove southeast to Dumas, TX to refuel. While searching for restaurants in Amarillo, the name of one really caught my eye: Furrbie's. I had a reuben sandwich and onion rings for lunch there. I refueled again in Wichita Falls, then picked up dinner from a Whataburger drive-thru.
I was feeling tired after registration, so I went up to my hotel room for the night. My roommate, Victor Redtail/Sawblade5, had been downstairs and came back to the room around 10:30 PM.
FRIDAY: After opening ceremonies, I got lunch from SoCal Tacos, one of the food trucks set up outside the hotel for the convention. Lunch was a steak burrito "Cali-style," meaning there's guacamole and French fries inside. I went to Alexander James Adams' performance. I wanted to get into suit Friday night for Matthew Ebel's set at the dance. Unfortunately, I got sad and took it off when I had trouble getting the tail on my belt. Ebel did a different type of show this time: electronic dance music. The audience was seated far away from the stage for some reason. I started to feel depressed during the show as my mind wandered, so I returned to my hotel room.
SATURDAY: I went on the second of two furry-exclusive tours of the Reunion Tower observation deck this morning. I wore my jacket with my fursuit head, hands and tail. The morning was foggy, but I was able to get a decent video of the downtown Dallas view from the tower. During my few past suiting opportunities, I couldn't get the fursuit's foot paws on, so just wore shoes with the rest of my full suit for the fursuit parade. The cold, foggy weather killed my desire to go outside to the food trucks today and tomorrow, so I just had lunch both days in the hotel cafe. Bucktown Tiger arrived at the hotel as I was having dinner. He invited me up to his room to chat, then we went to the Foxes And Peppers concert. After the concert, I bought Pepper's new album "Muh" and a "Foxes and Peppers [FaP] fan" badge.
SUNDAY: The larger ballroom was reserved for another group today, so the closing ceremonies were held in a smaller room. The event was streamed via Twitter for anyone who couldn't get in. I wanted to spend at least an hour in suit at Sunday night's dances. I only lasted about 30 minutes, spending at least half of that time in the headless lounge next door. Without my glasses, it was hard to see in the darkened dance room.
MONDAY: Sawblade and I checked out of the hotel at 10 AM. I had forgotten to ask the hotel clerk for the con's parking discount. I wanted to head home, so I just paid the regular price for parking and headed home. In Wichita Falls and Amarillo, I stopped for meals at Dairy Queen restaurants. The DQs in Texas have a line of state-exclusive items like street tacos; a chicken fried steak finger basket with fries, cream gravy and Texas toast; and a chicken fried steak sandwich called "The Dude." My phone's GPS ignored the more convenient I-27 and U.S.-87 route north out of Amarillo. Instead, I was directed up a couple of smaller roads to the northwest. My cell phone couldn't get a signal during part of this route. However, from previously looking at a map, I knew the road I was on would reconnect with U.S. 87 in Dalhart. This unintended detour and taking shorter rest breaks shaved about 90 minutes off my trip time.
Next year's Furry Fiesta will be held at the end of March. This year's attendance was 3,866. Hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer to make the walk to the food trucks more pleasant. I found footage of my suit in the parade. A few people took photos with me, but I haven't found any of the pictures yet. I hope I'll be in the mood/have more energy to suit more often next year.

Furry Fiesta meme thing
General | Posted 8 years agoWhere are you staying?
Hyatt Regency (main hotel)
Day of arrival/Departure?
Thursday night/Monday afternoon
Transportation?
Driving myself
Who will you hang with during the convention?
Hopefully lots of cool people (maybe some uncool ones, too)
How can I find you?
I have a collie fursuit now! If I'm not in suit, as my tired old joke goes, "look for a fat white guy with glasses."
Will you be suiting?
Yes. Hopefully my new EZCooldown vest will allow me to suit for more than 15-20 minutes at a time.
What’s your gender?
Male
Are you taken? Are you looking for a mate?
I'm single. I wouldn't say I'm actively looking, though finding "the right one" would be a definite bonus.
How tall are you?
5' 9"
Can I talk to you?
Absolutely!
Can I touch you?
As long as I can see you. I don't like people sneaking up on me due to anxiety issues.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs are almost always welcome
Can I visit your room?
Only if I know you
Are you nice?
Yes, as often as possible
Will you draw/do badges/do trades?
I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Are you going to any panels/shows/dances/competitions?
I will mostly be going to the music shows and at least one of the dances. It's hard to choose when some of the panels overlap!
Can I give you stuff?
Sure
Do you smoke/do drugs/vape?
Just weed sometimes
Can I buy you a drink?
Absolutely!
Will you be going to parties?
If I know where they are and I'm invited, yes
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Either J. Collie, Jerzei, Shopcollie or my real name should work. Keep in mind I may have trouble seeing/hearing you when I'm in suit as I can't wear my glasses and sometimes can't hear well in noisy suroundings.
What/where will you be eating?
I'll mainly eat in the hotel restaurant(s), though I may occasionally venture outside to someplace nearby
Can I come with you for food/fun?
If I know you
Can I take your picture?
Sure, especially in suit

Christmas tour brief recap and looking ahead to Furry Fiesta
General | Posted 8 years agoThe next time I need to be somewhere early in the morning for a trip/tour, I'll spring for a hotel/motel room for the night before. I had taken red-eye flights between Denver and Los Angeles for my Christmas week vacation, mainly because the tour brochure didn't give specific times for when the tour would depart from/arrive at its destinations (using vague terms like "early morning/evening.")
The bus tour went from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. One of the rest/meal stops was in Barstow at the Barstow Station Mall. I discovered this is where the studios for the "Highway" group of radio stations are located (Highway Vibe, Highway Country and The Drive.) These stations broadcast Top 40, country and rock along I-15 from Barstow to Las Vegas, and I-40 from Barstow to Needles. I stayed at the Stratosphere Hotel, opting to take it easy rather than go sightseeing. The trip back to Los Angeles included a trip to a chocolate factory and cactus garden, followed by lunch/shopping at an outlet mall.
Furry Fiesta's less than a month away! This will be the first time I bring an actual fursuit to a convention, as well as the first convention since I got my APAP machine for sleep apnea. I ordered a smaller, zippered case for my fursuit which will more easily fit into my car, along with a cooling vest, a suit brush and some scent/disinfectant spray. I'll be driving to Dallas and should arrive Thursday night around 6:15-6:30 if the traffic isn't too bad.

Ending 2017 on a high note
General | Posted 8 years agoIt's a bit late to do this for Christmas, but I will give myself an early birthday gift next week and get my car's head gasket fixed.
I couldn't think of many lower-priced gifts for my Christmas list, so I picked out a few kitchen and computer items. I'll spend the morning/early afternoon with my family, then nap at home for a few hours before leaving on my vacation. I had caught a cold last weekend, but it's gone now. Just to be safe, I bought some hygienic face masks to avoid getting sick again on the plane.
A few more "gifts" I got for myself are registrations and hotel reservations for Furry Fiesta and DenFur in 2018.
After a year of having a fursuit, I finally got the suit's body adjusted last month. It fits just fine now, and I wore the full suit to FoxTrot earlier this month! Sadly, I only suited for about 20-25 minutes, and I don't think anyone got any pictures of me in the suit. I did get a few hugs and compliments, though.

Making my "bucket" look nicer
General | Posted 8 years agoI was finally able to have most of the hail divots and larger dents removed from my Subaru. I decided to leave the roof as is since fixing that would have at least doubled the repair bill. I took the car to the Subaru dealership to have two recalled parts replaced: a fuel valve and the passenger-side airbag. The mechanics said the car's head gasket needs to be repaired/replaced. If I'm unable to do that before February, I may rent a car to drive to Dallas for Furry Fiesta (100 days away!)
I've also booked a Christmas vacation. The tour vacation begins on the morning of the 26th, so I'll need to leave home on Christmas afternoon/evening. This will allow me to at least spend Christmas morning with the family. I booked the vacation during the week so I wouldn't have to miss any work days at my weekend job.

Getting (partially) fursuited up
General | Posted 8 years agoI partially suited last night at the FoxTrot meet. The fursuit's case just barely fit in my car's back seat; I had to move the driver's seat forward and force the case in a bit. The case is 20 inches wide, so I will look for a case that's only 16-18 inches. I found a couple, including one with a zippered lid for travelling.
I didn't see as many friends at the meet since some of them are in Reno at BLFC. I had a cheeseburger, a couple of rum-and-cokes and a few glasses of water before putting on the suit's head, hand paws and tail. There were no chairs in the headless lounge, so I skipped putting on the foot paws. My belt broke during the meet, but it was able to hold my tail for the 20-25 minutes I was in suit. It was slightly dark in the club and difficult to see without my glasses. I got a few hugs and at least one person took my picture. After getting out of suit, I realized I had forgotten to put on a fresh layer of deodorant before the meet. Also, the burger made me a bit farty for a while. I'll do a better job of pre-meet bathing from now on.

Back from the east coast!
General | Posted 8 years agoMy new driver's license arrived while I was on vacation. I had the post office hold my mail during that time. I got a temporary driver's license two weeks before the vacation, but I also brought my expired license and my U.S. passport to ensure I had a valid ID. My new license was waiting for me in my mailbox when I got home on Monday night.
I stayed in Arlington, Virginia with a singles cruise group. The activities I took part in included a dinner cruise on the Potomac, visiting the Capitol building and going to a few restaurants/bars in the Arlington/DC area. I didn't sign up in time to do the White House tour, and I missed a bus tour around Arlington Cemetery due to not knowing when/where to meet. Before the vacation, I downloaded the "D.C. Metro" app onto my cell phone so I'd know which subway or bus to take and when they'd leave/arrive.
The airline I used had given me two free passes to the airline's club lounges, so I used them on the trip home at the D.C. and Chicago airports. I'd love to be able to use the lounges more on future flights, though I don't travel often enough to justify paying for a year's admittance.
Another cruise reunion is scheduled for July in Denver. That will be much easier and cheaper for me to attend.
I thought I had lost weight during the trip with all the walking I did. Sadly, I gained 11 pounds. The seat belts on all of my flights actually fit without needing an extension belt. Either I have less body fat or the planes have longer seat belts.
Another surprise waiting for me Monday night was a box on my porch containing the director's chair I had forgotten to pick up at RMFC 2016.

Ohhhh, Dreamwidther!
General | Posted 8 years agoI moved my LiveJournal posts over to a new account on Dreamwidth. The new journal is at https://jcollie719.dreamwidth.org/
Since FA doesn't have a Dreamwidth profile link option yet, the link is under the "My Website" link next to the picture of the world map on my profile's contact info.
I might need to buy a new digital camera if I can't find a specific part for my current one. The tab holding the camera's battery in place broke about a month ago. Now the camera only works when it's in its charging dock. HP no longer supports the camera (a Photosmart R817,) so buying a new one might be better. I still have the waterproof camera I bought for my Grenada cruise as a backup.
A group is now working on DenFur, a 2018 replacement con for Rocky Mountain Fur Con. Leaders of other cons are mentoring the group to get things started. I'm sad about the loss of RMFC as I've been attending since 2010, but I look forward to a new and (hopefully) better-run convention.
Last month, I realized my driver's license had expired in January. I renewed the license online and am waiting for the new one to be mailed. I'm hoping it arrives before April 26 since I booked a vacation to Arlington, Virginia from April 27-May 1.

Warming up on a cold night
General | Posted 8 years agoToday's weather makes me wish I could have gone to Furry Fiesta this year. It started raining and snowing overnight. The snow is melting a little, but a Friday meeting I usually attend was cancelled this week. Tonight I'll be seeing my co-workers' band, The Psychedelegates, at a downtown restaurant called Southside Johnny's. The restaurant is closing in a couple of days.
Trotting at a new bar
General | Posted 9 years agoThe FoxTrot meet is now at the Denver Wrangler bar. The former location of M Uptown (formerly Hamburger Mary's) closed in late-December. I was unable to attend the December FoxTrot. The Wrangler has a cafe offering things like pizza, burgers and nachos. The area set aside for the headless lounge was a bit small (the organizers will make it larger next time,) but the bar is at least as roomy as M Uptown was. It's actually in the building where the Howl-O-Ween party was held for a few years (formerly the ExDo Annex and the Eden nightclub.)
I'll be going to a bowling meet on Saturday. Since my fursuit's maker is hosting the meet, I'll ask if she can adjust the body suit sometime next week.

Drinking with dogs and trying out my fursuit
General | Posted 9 years agoI went to a couple of get-togethers on Saturday after work. The first was with a local Happy Hour Meetup group at the Wyndham Mining Exchange. This was the hotel where Donald Trump had gotten himself stuck in an elevator. The bar offered 2-for-1 appetizers, so I had popcorn chicken and green chili cheese fries along with two local beers. Later that night, I attended a friend's birthday party at a bar on the west side called Cerberus Brewing Company. This bar has both a patio and a large yard where patrons with dogs can hang out. I had a few rum-and-cokes and a dessert of "puppy chow" (rice cereal coated with peanut butter, chocolate and powdered sugar.) After the party, I bought a couple of souvenirs from the bar: a collar/bottle opener and a plastic bowl.
I tried on the body of my new fursuit Sunday night. I'm glad the maker said she could adjust the crotch if needed, because it's definitely needed. The suit's legs wound up still being baggy while the upper body was an inch or two short. Lowering the crotch a few inches should solve that problem. I tried on the head, hands and feet, and those fit just fine. I could still wear the head and tail to this Saturday's bowling meet.

Fuzzy bowling and fuzzy math
General | Posted 9 years agoThe furry bowling meet in Denver was held at the same alley (Celebrity Lanes in Centennial,) but it was in a more private "party room" with four lanes this time. Some furries brought cakes and cupcakes to celebrate a couple of birthdays. For dinner, I ordered a barbecue bacon cheeseburger and two "Whiskey Orchards" (Crown Royal, Peach Schnapps, Angry Orchard cider and Grenadine.) The lane I was on had a faulty score-keeping system. The bowlers would sometimes be credited with more pins than they actually knocked down, or given strikes when they only knocked down 7-9 pins. My scores were 156 for a complete game, and 121 for a seven-frame game. The group's photo shoot interrupted the bowling, and most of the bowlers opted to leave after the shoot. Even though my score was partially "enhanced" by faulty equipment, I got a Guardians of the Galaxy mug with a dancing Groot figure as a prize for the highest score.
The next bowling meet I will attend is on October 29th in Colorado Springs.

Sleeping much better
General | Posted 9 years agoI got an APAP machine (also called an Auto-CPAP) from my doctor last week to help with my sleep apnea. I used it for about 6 hours the first night but had trouble falling asleep with the mask on. Since then, I've gotten used to the mask and have gotten a much better quality sleep each night.
After a few delays, I finally got a new hood and windshield for my car. I rented another car while mine was in the shop. The rental (a Chevrolet Cruze) had a problem with its transmission, meaning I couldn't go above 30 MPH most of the time. I brought this to the attention of the rental company when I returned the Cruze, and the clerk said "Oh, yeah. They do that sometimes." (Then why the hell do you rent them?) Anyway, my dad recommended an auto body shop where I could get the remaining dents in my car fixed.

Car troubles distracting me from my money troubles
General | Posted 9 years agoMy car got pretty banged up by a hail storm a few weeks before RMFC. The entire body is dented and the windshield has several large cracks. My insurance company estimated the repair costs at around $4,400, but a mechanic said it would cost more than twice that. I opted to just have the hood and windshield replaced for $1,260.
I was told the insurance company would likely consider my car to be totaled since more than two-thirds of the body was damaged. That seems extreme for some easily-repairable hail damage. If they want to see what a totaled car really looks like, here's my last car after I was in a major accident in 2005:

Last week, I noticed one of my headlights was burned out. I brought it into the shop, where they found one of my brake lights was also out. Luckily replacing them only cost $55.
If/when I can save enough money, I'd love to move into a house/townhome with a garage. That and owning my own radio and/or TV station are my biggest goals.

RMFC: Short (but sweet) due to work
General | Posted 9 years agoI had a good time at RMFC despite missing roughly one-third of the con. I couldn't find anyone to fill in for me at work that weekend. I wound up driving to Colorado Springs around 4 AM, then back to RMFC around 3 PM. I made it to the opening ceremonies, Guest Of Honor dinner and the cocktail party. I caught the tail end of the Town Hall on Sunday and wanted to stay for closing ceremonies, but it was too hot for me on the con floor. I missed some of the evening events since I needed to go to sleep around 8 or 9 PM Friday and Saturday. I registered for RMFC 2017 on Sunday. I should be able to attend that in its entirety.
Working vacation: RMFC
General | Posted 9 years agoAfter looking at the schedule for RMFC and getting news about my weekend job, I won't be missing as much of the con as I originally thought. I received word this week that I would be moved to the morning/early afternoon shift for both Saturdays and Sundays. All but one or two of the RMFC events I want to attend are in the afternoon and evening. I could work my weekend shifts, then grab lunch and get back to RMFC around 3-3:30 PM Saturday and Sunday.
More advantages to having an early shift both days:
1. Getting a good night's sleep should be easier since my bedtimes won't be so staggered. I previously woke up around 10:30 AM Saturdays and 4 AM Sundays.
2. I'll be able to arrive at the FoxTrot meet in Denver when it starts instead of a couple hours later.
3. I can take a short nap after work then attend more Saturday night events. Some of the groups I'm in moved the bulk of their meetups to Saturdays.

RMFC plans uncertain + meme
General | Posted 9 years agoMy plans for RMFC this year may be slightly affected by my current job. An employee resigned last week, and I'm filling in for part of her shifts on Saturdays and Sundays. Another employee plans to leave in August, and my own job may or may not be there for much longer after that. While I'd like to just take off for the entire RMFC weekend, I will likely work at least part of my shifts then.

General | Posted 9 years agoFor some reason, I haven't been receiving Facebook private messages from the woman making my fursuit. The last message I got from her was from last December. She replied to one of my regular posts to say she had been trying to send me updated pictures of the suit. I gave her my e-mail address and am hoping that works.
I'll be taking a cruise to Grenada and the Grenadines two weeks from now. Yesterday, I bought a few pairs of shorts and some of the toiletries I'll need. I still need to get button batteries for my travel alarm clock.

Too bummed to trot :(
General | Posted 9 years agoI was able to get a good night's sleep Friday night/Saturday morning, and I wasn't too tired when my Saturday night shift ended. Unfortunately, I was caught in a bad traffic jam while driving to Denver after work. Bridge work near Larkspur caused me to be stuck in traffic for over 40 minutes. By the time the traffic cleared, I didn't feel like going to FoxTrot and just drove home to get more sleep.
Before work, I set up an "auto-pilot" stream on my home laptop of furry videos on Ustream to watch during down times at work. Unfortunately, one of the videos had some sort of glitch. I reformatted that video and the problem went away. Also, I'll try using iVlog next time since Ustream airs ads every 15-20 minutes.

Fewer pounds and more bowling
General | Posted 9 years agoI had to revise my short-term weight loss goals, but I'm doing well. I suspected my scale's batteries were low when the scale showed me losing 12 pounds in 3 days. I put in new batteries and re-calibrated the scale. I'm still on track to weigh 290 or less by my July vacation. I've been drinking more juices in place of sodas, and I bought a pitcher to filter water.
I've done more bowling this month than in the past year and a half. A singles group I joined was going to have a miniature golf meet, but a snowstorm changed that to a bowling meet. A monthly bowling meet south of Denver happened last Friday, and I'll be going to Sprocket and Grizdog's bowling meet this Saturday.

Getting ready for my next vacation
General | Posted 9 years agoI'll be going on a singles cruise at the beginning of July. I haven't been on a cruise since I was laid off from my weekday job in 2008. Unlike past cruises, this one will be on a smaller sailing vessel instead of a large cruise ship (the S/V Mandalay) and will sail around Grenada and the Grenadines. I set up a weight loss plan which would put me at or below 290 pounds by July; so far, the plan has been successful. I'm still looking around my messy condo for my waterproof camera case. If I don't find it, I browsed online for underwater cameras.
I went to a bowling meet in Denver recently. For the most part, I managed to avoid hooking the ball to the left. I think using a slightly-heavier ball (14-15 pounds?) helped keep my arm from going wild. My scores were 111, 126 and 133, a big improvement over past bowling meets. One of the Denver furs I know who regularly goes to FoxTrot showed up, though he didn't bowl. It took just under an hour to drive to the bowling alley since it is in Greenwood Village, on the south end of the Denver area. Driving home took longer this time since a heavy snow storm started while I was bowling.
I woke up with a small cold last Wednesday, but I managed to knock it out by Thursday night. There is some light snow expected this weekend. I hope that's the last of the snow until Fall.
