Life update
Posted 5 years agoSo Jebal hasn't posted in aeons, is he ok?
Yes indeed! Just busy. I am working two jobs right now, full time in hospital and part time in retail pharmacy. Taking precautions to keep safe like mask wearing and staying off of social media for mental health when possible. I'll share a more personal update in the future but right now I'm on a tight schedule! Just know that I am well and doing my part to keep society from collapsing as I can.
Hope everyone else is doing OK in this terrible 2020.

For my friends who play League of Legends and small update
Posted 11 years agoAhri vs. Ahri Charm Scenario (NSFW)
Wishing I had time to play. My work has transferred me again and now I am in a location closer to home, but instead of being out of the house 56 hours a week it is now more like 60-64, and they are not healthy or fun hours at all. Feeling lots of stress that I hope I can cut out soon.
Wrist and connecting arm are much stronger now, but still having pain associated with it. Going back to the doctor next week for hopefully some good news.
Hope everyone else is doing well! Sorry to not have much else interesting to share this time.

Merry Everything!
Posted 12 years agoTo all my friends and loved furs,
Merry everything! Whatever you celebrate, even if it is NOTHING (read in a metal voice).
Hope you have safe and happy times,
Logan / Jebal

T-Minus 1 Day
Posted 12 years agoHappy Turkey Day! (I have to work, so getting it out in advance!)
Arm is doing better. I see the doctor this morning to decide if I need to be assigned physical therapy or not. I used it a lot at work yesterday though and am feeling super sore.

Healing, Fun Times, Return to Work
Posted 12 years agoOne last visit to the doctor gave me an OK to have the splint removed and to just wear a wrist brace most of the time for the next 12 weeks. My journey of healing is in its last step! However, I will have the surgical scar, the metal plate, and the pins in my wrist for the rest of my life.
My return to work is Monday after my lengthy absence. To celebrate the good news, and being able to drive again at last, I am spending my last free weekend doing a lot of awesome things.
-Played in a Magic draft tournament last night; came in 4th out of ~14 participants, and won some excellent cards as prizes
-Going to see Thor: The Dark World today
-Going out to eat with friends
-Playing AD&D tonight
-Relaxing!
My first week back to work will be marked with decided stress; we are in the holiday season now and everything's importance is increased tenfold; and our division president is coming to our store on Thursday. I have missed a lot of work due to my injury and have a lot of catching up to do. Also, I will have to shave this beard I grew, I am sure. Alas! :)
I will miss all this free time I had, but I will not miss being down a hand. I lost about half an inch of muscle mass all the way up my arm; I will have to push it to rebuild it and rehabilitate my wrist.

Good things come to those who walk
Posted 12 years agoMy arm is still healing; the cast was removed a while back and the splint, which may as well be a cast for all the restrictions (but half the weight!) will hopefully come off this Friday after x-rays. Probably a brace and physical therapy after that. There's still a lot of pain though; I hope it is healed enough to advance my treatment to the next stage.
With no driving I have not been out of the house much; but with the nice fall weather today, I decided to take a walk. I ended up going all the way to our local used book store (which is awesome). They were having a sale!
I bought a lot of ancient AD&D rulebooks, adventures, and an ancient piece from 1982: Grimtooth's Traps, Too (it was a sequel, you see). Here's a link to a review of the first Grimtooth's Traps. I never owned a Grimtooth book, but I remember seeing ads for it in Dragon magazine growing up. It was such nostalgic joy to be holding a piece of RPG history that I got close to but never had the chance to touch.
Other cool items included Aurora's Whole Realms Catalog, the Draconomicon, A Planeswalker's Guide to Sigil (I loved Planescape, but it was a rare treat for me), and a few fantasy paperbacks.
It was a great walk.

Posted 12 years agoThe only other bit of news is that about 4 weeks ago I adopted 2 kittens from a local shelter. They are a mostly-orange calico now 6 months old and a silver tabby now 5 months; I named the calico Leona and the tabby Diana, after the sun and moon-themed sisters from League of Legends.
Here's a recent photo of them.

Quiet times and busted wing
Posted 12 years agoSorry for my quiet non-presence on F*A of late; I got out of habit of visiting the site while it was on lockdown for awhile, and got caught up in other things.
No excuse though, since I've been home for 3 weeks with not much at all to do. I fell off of a freezer at work while mounting the ladder down, breaking my wrist and both bones in my forearm. I had surgery 2 weeks ago to install a metal plate in my arm to help the healing process and haven't gone anywhere but doctor appointments since. Fortunately I was extraordinarily lucky to have only snapped my wrist and not broken my neck or sustained any other major injuries.
Presently in a blue cast running from bicep to knuckles, scheduled off work for all of October, and on lots of painkillers and bedrest. Wish me fast heals!

Work Transfer
Posted 12 years agoAhh, my first day off in over a week. Must relax!
I was transferred by my company to a new job site in Ripley, WV. My commute has jumped from 2 minutes at worst to 45 minutes each way. @_@ I thought I didn't have free time before, but now I'm hard pressed to find much time for anything. Sleep has always been the first thing for me to cut back on to get in time to enjoy life, but one can only cut back on it so long.
The upside is that this location has a lot more positives going for it. I find my days much less stressful. I actually can leave the building to take a lunch more often than not, whereas before I was cramming something sub-par into my craw while working simultaneously, or just not eating at all, for an entire span of my regular 10-hour shift. Now I don't have a constant laundry list of problems to address from the moment I walk in to the moment I leave. There are issues, but they are being handled by a team, rather than just me and maybe one other person. Also, due to the distance I am getting a raise to compensate for gas. In that way, I can view it as a promotion.
Vacation coming up the week after next. Plans include not making plans; just letting some spontaneity into my day.

Posted 12 years agoJust wanted to share a happy moment. Found and bought several old AD&D 1st and 2nd edition manuals on ebay. All from one guy, so combined shipping and low prices on great quality used material = happy dance.

Tired
Posted 12 years agoI'm an idiot; I let myself be suckered into working on the night of my day off before my shift and ended up working 19 hours straight. Two 15 minute breaks and a lot accomplished in that time, but my boss didn't give me one "thank you." Going in again now on my other day off; I hope I can get away this time.
Art and artistry
Posted 12 years agoI've enjoyed a lot of great art lately, here and elsewhere. This is a great thing. I occasionally think to share, but mostly I just hoard the image to myself like a dragon might covet shiny things, and like a dragon, I am never contented. There must always be more.
The web show Strip Search actually inspired me to try to remind myself that I was once engaged in talented pursuit of the arts. If I can get the time, I would like to pursue them again, just for fun if nothing else. I also have a rather large painting project approaching that I will definitely sink time into.
Lastly, our small town's local theatre troupe is going against local tastes to perform Avenue Q this month and next. I absolutely must attend.

A little rambling
Posted 12 years agoSo the realization just hit me that there is a space here for me to prattle inanely. Only took me five years.
Life's going alright. Work just keeps eating up all of my time, which isn't bad in itself except that no one in my workplace likes our company anymore, which sucks the fun out of it and not in a good way. Puts me in mind of my original career dreams.
Speaking of time, the year is flying by. I can't believe June is just around the corner. Hitting my 33rd birthday in August. Still young and vibrant, hehe.
My home has some work to be done on it, and maybe I'll actually get to do it someday. I like to have company over when everyone's willing and the time is to be had. If I could find a good job that gave me weekends and holidays off, I'd jump on it, but I am beginning to think those jobs are the invention of myth. Till then, I will persevere as long as I am able!
Time to be distracted by cute things for a little while, then bed. Good night!

5- tell you something I always remember about you / a first memory about you.
6- tell you what animal you remind me of.
7- ask you something I always wanted to ask you.
8- If I do this for you, you must put this in your journal. <--- even if it's just for one person's benefit. XD
