Had a job interview yesterday that went really well (I feel like every time I've had an interview that it goes really well, really... I've never NOT been offered a job after one. The tough part for me is getting the interview itself. hahaha).
Just got a call to officially offer me a job. Woo! Income!

Edit: Damn, today ALMOST went all day without losing the awesomeness. And then a (luckily very small) chunk of one of my front teeth just... went missing? WTF. All that brushing and taking care and worrying and it just chips while not even eating? Howwwwwwwwwwww...
Good thing I got the job, though, because now I get to go spend a few hundred dollars at a dentist in the morning! :D

Hello again people! Not much to say this time around -- I'm at the coastal area again, sitting out a heatwave right now. The big advantage of being jobless (at least there's one!) reappears! I get to run from heat! Hahaha
I should be back in town again soon, and up to... whatever I'll be up to next.

There aren't a lot of art ideas lingering right now, and no projects lined up, and it's still gonna be kinda hot at home regardless of whether it's TOO hot or not, so I'm not sure what or when my next uploads will be... but I'm hoping it won't be too long! I always feel a little weird when I go too long without working on something to share. A week without an upload sets in weird pressure in m'brain.

ANYWAY! Hopefully everyone's avoiding the heat, too, and getting by well! One of these day's I'll have more to say, too. Hahaha

Hello again everyone!

My usual scheduled update is a bit late this time, but I have reasons! Hahaha
Being jobless for these last couple months, I got a chance to hop on board towards an open-invitation family trip near the Oregon Coast that's done every year. I missed it last year because of the job, but I was definitely excited to go this time! It was going to be a few days, but as I watched the forecast, and the heatwave here went longer and longer, I stayed longer and longer. Saw some fireworks, enjoyed wiiiiiiiiiiide open space, calm vibes, and had a really nice time overall! C:

Sorry for my lack of comments and updates and uploads here recently, too! There's been lots of blahs and lots of heat keeping my drive to draw down a bit. So I guess I was just quiet instead. Derp.

Anyway! Now I'm back, feeling pretty good, and back to looking for work and hoping to do better! Got at least two things planned/in progress so far that I will upload here (and elsewhere), and then onward to other things!

Lastly, it's been brought to my attention that a certain user that caused a LOT of frustration with uncredited art redistribution and using copyrighted character imagery as their own thing (and in their own small circle) has changed their DA username, and made a new FA entirely.

If anyone remembers the trouble with DrTraumaty a while back, they are now using a new username called ArtificialCodex on this site, if anyone else needs to update their block list. Still the only person I've ever blocked, and I know that there are a few other people that sorta had some D: on the side before. I don't know if it's still an issue, but I know it WAS, and I'm just making a public notice so you can keep your space as you like it, if you like. :o

Hopefully that doesn't mean they're out on the assumption that I'm trying to lead some sort of crusade against them again - and not the actuality of it. Another small update!

First of all, thanks @ everyone that hit me up with well-wishes, or surprise gifty things. :O
I never ever ever expect a gift or any sort of trading back for birthday surprising -- I know that I do them because they're fun, but also have missed some before because of timing and life and other nonsense. It's not a rule I follow, so I hope nobody feels like it has to be a thing they do, too!

THAT SAID, I love all the stuff I got - from words to art - and I hope everyone out there has as good of day as people have wished me!
I also fully endorse posting any of those surprises if their creators are up for it. THey're all cool things, and would look good in galleries! But maybe I'm just way biased here. hahaha

Aaaaaaaaaaand hello again, peoples! It's June now, and that means it's time for me to write up a new list of small updates! And avoid AgingDay. :D

Well, to start, I don't have another job yet. I do feel a bit lucky to have been able to stay busy and float by pretty well so far, though, after having some jury duty, other misc. things, and commissions! Sure that all my followers have noticed that this last month. Quarians reappeared! Woo! Hahaha

Between the YCH [FINAL NOW POSTED, by the way: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/23701723/ ], the secret AliDay Project, and a bunch of commissions around it and leading up to the other day's upload, I spent a whole month on OtherPeopleProjects for a change! That... feels rare. Hahaha
And a public thanks to everyone that's commissioned things from me recently - it's been nice timing! :D

Let's see, beyond that... I'm done with my current commission list, so I think that means I'll be picking up some random sketching and pics of my own whims here soon. Maybe practice some more of that stencil-y stuff, because I think it's cool! We'll see what comes next! Maybe another YCH too! Money's good. Or a collab could be fun again. :o

I don't really have updates on things, and haven't gotten much sorted out since my last stuff, but I'm still around! And there's always the silver lining of being done, with a lot of finality, with a thing that made me miserable.

Anyway! Nothing much to say here.
But I do have some time now, and I have some stuff around in pose drafts that I could turn into Turian NSFW YCH stuff. Is there interest in that? Or maybe in collabing one?

I can't make promises, and don't know what to expect of that (A handful of collab things I've started up with people have fallen through after starting/before going public, so I'm feeling a little ??? @ it, too), but I love seeing what better artists can do with my lineart, and I'm definitely open to knowing if there's interest in things from either end of the YCH idea!

I just did the most irresponsible thing I've ever done, and quit my job mid-shift. Just snapped, and couldn't take it anymore, and in the meantime I torched what's been pretty much my only income, my only chance at ever having affordable healthcare (it's a third the price of the next best I've seen, and way better coverage/deductibles), and working for a company that has an ESOP and a bunch of side benefits.
All because I couldn't take another day of the one job I'm stuck on. I could've asked for a chance at another position again. Or put in my two weeks, and waited out a chance to apply for another position.

But no, I had to throw everything away like a FUCKING MORON and slam shut the only good door that's ever been held open for me.

Fuck.

Well, I don't know what to do now. I might not be able to work up art or posting or commenting for a while, everyone. Sorry about that. I'm just a fucking idiot.

Or I might not. I don't know.

It's becoming too clear to me that my life right now is not something I can easily manage or handle, and I don't have any real options but to keep putting up with stuff I wanted to leave behind for over a year now because YAY POVERTY.

So since I can't find a way to distance myself from things, and because the negativity of it is overflowing into everything else in my life and making it near impossible to start things up or not feel crappy, I think I'm just going to take up sleeping my life away for a while.

It's better than this. :/

Hello again, peoples!
Well, I don't have a lot of new stuff since the last entry. I spent the better part of the last two weeks playing loads of Mass Effect: Andromeda between work and sleep. Finished it on... Monday or Tuesday, I can't remember which, but I've been wandering aimlessly with 98-99% completion since. Still having fun! Hahaha

I'll avoid rambling about it here, but I can sum it up with: I love almost everything about it. It's just what I wanted from a Mass Effect game since the first one, and it's now my favorite of the bunch, hands down (even if I still love all the awesome moments and charas in the trilogy). So woo!

Now that I've finished it up, though, I should probably get back to doing some art stuff soon again. I have an Asari design thing I've been holding onto until the game/Art book came out for me to pull some ideas from, so I hope to be able to finish that up and share it soon. Then I would like to draw some stuff for various other charas, have a lot of lingering things I would like to pick at for the fantasy setting Random-Blackout and I have been making, and I've had a commission offer floating around that I've managed to miss a few times now.

With luck, I'll get to half of that! Hahaha

Anyway! Should be able to stir up some stuff now and then, even if I'm still playing the game a bit, and looking forward to seeing people/stuff a bit more, too! Hope everyone has a great month!

And here we are again, this time just at the end of a weekend, and not the beginning of a month!
But I think I'm okay to make an update again, so I'm going to. hahaha

On Tuesday, Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out. :o
I'll be picking it up right after work, and playing the hell out of it (I hope!) for UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF HOURS. In the meantime, I don't expect to start or post any art for a while. :o

We made it to March! MASS EFFECT MONTH! Andromeda hype intensifies! I'ma be so broke and unproductive after it comes out. But I'm looking forward to it. hahaha

Well, what else beyond that...
Oh! So far I have made 20 uploads of art this year! I'm kinda impressed with myself, really. Only a few of those are linearts, not counting WIPs, sketches, or the commission work to the tally, and some of it is offsite-only, BUT STILL! Lots of stuff, and even with the week of struggle and no art at all, I've managed to be more productive than I expected! Woo!

And I've also just passed 250 watchers here on FA! :O
More than I ever expected to get here, honestly. About ten times more. hahaha
But woo! It's a lot, and it's awesome that so many people like ANYTHING I ever do. I feel like the landmark numbers like this = should do something, but I'm not sure how to even go about that.

Well, filed my taxes. Instead of the $400 range I was expecting to get back, I now owe almost $800 this year. NO idea what changed. Working at the same place as I was the last half of last year, and was set up to get a refund. Ugh. UGH.

Hello again, all the peoples! Survived to February so far! Didn't think it'd feel as rough as the last week and a half was, but WHATEVER. Still around, but it feels like this is going to be a loooooooooooong year. Unless we're all lucky!

...in other little bits of news, I beat my new game. It was fantastic! A++, and can't wait for the next one's US release in Summer. I was really tempted to replay the full series again, but since that next game is a rebuild of the original, I'll wait until after that to consider it. :o

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand with that done, I'm around a little more again. I didn't exactly leave, but I didn't do ANYTHING art-wise for a week.
Right now, I've actually got a few pieces rolling around. Two NSFW linearts, too, but I don't know if I'll post those right now. I think the newest one might be a bit too random to wanna share. Hahaha
Would love to do more landscapey things soon, too. Those are fun practice, and a way to add to a project.

Quick update!

Yakuza Zero got it's localized (and disc-based!) release today! I didn't even have to wait three extra years for this one! Bought it, installed it on my PS4, and I'm pumped to jump deep into the prequel of my favorite series [as a whole]

...anyway, I'll still be around, but if I have fewer uploads in coming weeks, THIS IS WHY! :D



EDIT [01/28/2017] :

Yakuza Zero beaten! Woo!
It was SO GOOD. I think that, if you have knowledge of Y1 and 2 at all, it's the best in the series. All the gameplay and graphics are of course updated, but the plot was SUPER solid throughout. It didn't dip, it didn't disappoint, and it was tied to cool things in all the right places without being facepalmy. Y2 still has some amazing moments, like the entire ending, and an amazing antagonist, but this game was a very very complete package that I didn't expect it to be.

And it really nailed the grittier, more adult-oriented, feeling throughout the story, which is something that faded a little now and then in the PS3 games of the series.
Great game! Stoked for the anniversary remake of the original that's coming out this summer now! :D

First update of the new year! Hopefully everyone's rolling at a better pace so far than most seem to have last year. WE ALL GOT GOOD EXPERIENCE MAKING IT THROUGH CRAP! That'll come in handy, I'm sure! Hahaha

As I mentioned last update, I have my new laptop up and operating now - as I'm sure some people could tell with my uploads in the last week or two! It's good to be able to work on my nonsense again and share it! :D

Still dealing with my job and it's early morning outdoor shifts for crap money. Still need to quit. Hahaha
But I also need the money, too, after having to replace my phone and laptop within a week of each other last month, and a roommate being jobless while the rent got raised. I don't feel like I should take any chances, so as much as I absolutely LOATHE this job, I'm going to keep toughing it out while I look for another, instead of dropping it first to focus on finding a replacement. I'm still hoping that I can find something nicer soon, but I feel like my luck with that already speaks for itself. Hahaha

For some happier bits of life, I've been digging into some fun things again lately, too! Found a new band I really like, and that gave me some new music to buy (had to get it online to get the actual CDs - should be here in about a week, I hope!) and stuff to read up on! Then I started messing around with some old nostalgic games again in some of my free time. All sorts of old PSX games I can emulate on my PSP and mess with while huddled up in the cold, or lazing for the night. Nostalgiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And keeps me a little more busy waiting for Yakuza Zero and Mass Effect Andromeda! So woo!

And beyond all that, of course, I'm still trying to draw more, too! Because it's fun, and I like sharing. I think I may revise commission information and push that/openly open them again. It's fun to have some direction without having to figure out all the things sometimes!

Happy New Year, New Laptop's rockin' so far, Job's still stuck to me, Found new music, Gaming Nostalgically a bit, May open commissions enthusiastically!

Blar. Well, new laptop is up and running! That's the good news this time around. Got my art program, tablet drivers, antivirus, etc. All the stuff I need to be around and be able to draw when I have time again. Lost a paycheck to it, but at least I'm still able to do all those Jesterthings I enjoy.

...beyond that, otherstuff in life is really really dragging me down. I think I'm going to quit my job on Monday. Between them scheduling me to work on days I had set off (unless they got my permission, which they're not asking me for) and making my cancel OTHER work that pays better and has better conditions, the conditions themselves (outside in winter mornings gets old fast), the fact that I went three of five days this week where I missed one or all of my breaks that day, and then all the other random fun things (jamming my fingers more than once per day, other people never finishing work right, so I'm started off crippled each day and have to go twice as hard to break even, other workers BREAKING equipment because they don't use the waterproofing stuff, and customers like the one today, that are willing to spit on me for no apparent reason)... I just think I'm done.

I'm terrified about not being able to find a replacement job quickly, and I hate to spend any of the money I've been saving to get the hell outta here someday, because I know it'll go fast. But I'm tired of hurting my hands, of always being exhausted because I have sleeping issues paired with morning shifts, of working harder than almost anyone in the entire business for the lowest wage I can get, and of dealing with people that I never see a bright side of. It's so so draining.

I've vented. We'll see if I actually quit or not. I'm a wuss.
But I might. And if I do, I hope that results in me bitching less, and drawing more! :D

Woke up today to find that someone let a cat into my room, and it peed on my laptop while I was asleep.

Through the case, keyboard, inside, and out the bottom. It was on. When I opened it, it crackled, and everything stopped.

...so there goes all my stuff! Tools, programs, WIPs... Crap.

Anyway! Until further notice, I am stuck on my phone. I have a while account here still, but it won't syncbit with my main one, so I used it for a minimalist account while at work. If people wanna chat now, you can find it with the same username -- just look for a scribkajak.

One spend paycheck later, I now have a computer again.
I still lost most of my stuff, and WIP/layered/full size versions of all my current and recent art. But at least I can pop in and out again a little!

UPDATE 2:
Laptop is running, but I'm down to really low speed internet for the rest of the month, and on a new OS... so I don't have my updated program, my tablet drivers, my brushes, etc... even setting up my Antivirus has been a 38+ hour process so far. It may be a few days before I can manage to get things rolling again and resume drawing/creating. It's sucky, but I don't know what else to do about it.

In the meantime, while I'm doing all this downloading on already limited speeds, I can't browse as well as I'd like. So I'll still be around skype, and can lurk a few of the non-demanding sites like this! So hopefully I'll still see some people around!

First: about two weeks ago I just passed my ten-year mark on DA. :o
Posted more about it there, but that was a big part of what ever got me doing more than scratches on my homework back then. Eventually. Hahaha

Next: Got my work schedule changed last week! Now I have some more guaranteed time away from work each week, which means I can take more commissions again (hopefully!), and find more time to relax and have fun with all sorts of things. Woo! I'm excited.

Lastly: So many random Asari linearts popping up lately! Yeah... It's a random combination of things making that appear. I don't know that anyone cares about lineworks instead of fully colored works, but I looooooooooove lining, and not as much coloring, so sometimes I just end up throwing those out. I'll try to color some and do some fully-finished pictures soon, though!

EDIT-Lastly 2: TURIANSSSSSSSSSSSSS. And wow. Everything about this game looks pretty awesome to me. Love the look of the exploration, and the gameplay looks fast and responsive and fun, and full of lots of cool things to do on the side. Awesomeness. I'll spare everyone the same rambles I'm posting everywhere and just leave it at: I'm happy with a lot that I saw yesterday. Much more than just the Turians even. I've seen enough to be okay with the plot not being amazing to still be pretty certain that I'm going to have a loooot of fun. All my favorite wonderous little parts of ME1 look back in full force, and I'm ready for more. Give me that escape into cooler stuff, game! Hahaha
