Busy busy busy
General | Posted 9 years agoSo I've been pretty quiet recently! Working in any store right now is pretty damn annoying, but I'm in a grocery store, so we've been looooooooooaded up on business leading up to Thanksgiving. Unlike those other stores, we'll actually have a break after the holiday passes. Then busy again next month. Hahaha
...so with all that, I've been doing a bunch of 6-day weeks with tons of hours, and haven't found tons of time to be able to sit down and draw, unfortunately. There are a few ideas around I'd like to chase, though! Hopefully soon I'll be able to start moving and make more things to share.
And on that note, I did just change my work scheduling availability around, to where I should (starting next week) have guaranteed days where I don't work anymore. Because it sucks trying to keep up on everything around work and home and other odd jobs, and be able to draw and not be sore all the time, when you only get 2 days off in a 18 day stretch, and I'm not going to keep that up all through the coldest and wettest time of year, too (working outside)
yyyyyyyyyup. That's about it. I feel for anyone working in any sort of store at this time of year. Hopefully you get through it well enough! And I'll see what I can do about actually drawing some stuff sometime soon. I miss it. HahahaGIMME THAT FREEDOM

And not much changes. Except now it's CrapMonth for people like me that work in stores of any sort. THE HORROR!
Pretty stoked for that Daylight Savings Time, though. It'll be nice to have shifts that have some daylight while I start. For a little, at least.
Anyway! Hopefully everyone's had and will continue to have an okay time with all things! More ups than downs, at the least. I really don't know what to say beyond that right now. I guess this is more of an update for the sake of updating. Hahaha
Well, I've finished my current To-Do list of art, at least! I've got a few loose ideas for collab things to do with the always-awesome
3033 again, and that's sure to be fun when it happens! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... what else.
Oh! Living in Oregon, I had the advantage of having a mail-in ballot, so I got my vote out of the way last week. Now I officially get to ignore annoying waves of stuff trying to politically sway me! I mean, it's always there, but it's nice to feel like I'm past the point where people are going to direct anything at me. Back to all the other things that interrupt my days! :D
Okay, this was a crap journal. But I'm still around! And looking forward to seeing and making and sharing more, as always!
Yupppppppppp... if anyone has random questions or comment, feel free to leave it below! You'd have offered more content here than I! Hahaha

Oh, I wanted to ask something! I'm still reaaaaaally unsure about it, but I'm curious if anyone would ever be interested in a cheap commission option for me to line peoples' sketches for them for a small chunk o' dollars. My lines would have to be the sort of lines people like working with in the first place, of course... but if it's an idea that might be interesting to someone sometime, let me know! I might make it an option someday, just because I love lining. So clean and smoooooooth

General | Posted 9 years agoIt's October! Which means it's time for another random monthly update from me!
Well, it finally feels like the summer is starting to really end over here. That's nice! And less nice, at the same time. On one hand, it's great to get a break from tons of sun and high temps when I work outside like I do, and on the other hand, we're getting reaaaaaaaally close to all the cold and wet days that are a special sort of miserable. That really makes me feel an extra little push to find my way out of my current job ASAP. With luck, I'll find something soon, before I end up spending the whole holiday season bouncing between working outside, being sick from it, and spending all my free time trying to find ways to dry my work clothes again! Hahaha
All that said, though, I'm sorta excited to get some good sunsets and sunrises around again, of all things! Some more cloud coverage lately has really made them stand out in the last few days compared to what it'd been for the last few months. Gotta love some color in the sky!
As far as art goes, I'm glad to still have a few things bouncing around, too! I haven't been able to post all the stuff I've made recently, but I'm still making things! And I'm excited to be able to post more as I keep making it! 3033 and I finished our recent collab project together this last month, too, and that was a lot of fun! Looking forward to doing more with them (Collab commissions?!) in a bit, too!
What else, what else... Hmm...
Well, I'm drawing a blank right now, so I guess this is just going to be another boring entry! Hahaha
I'll throw an update below this in the next day or two if I think of something, but I'll just wrap it up for now!

First of all, I promise I have some actual SFW planned soon. Lots of NSFW among all my recent uploads wasn't something I planned... but it kinda happened anyway! And even when I'm kinda indifferent about it, I'm also wanting to do some fun pics from the "Everything Else" category, and have a few drafts started up for that! :o
I also feel like I'm finding a bit better of rhythm for art now, though, since my arm got better and work settled down. That's nice! Now I just want to get more things going while I look for a new job (rainy holiday season will be here soon, and I'm ready to get away from what I'm doing)
Secondly, there's at least one more NSFW thing on it's way in the immediate future anyway, for people that aren't sick of it yet! The YCH Collab that 3033 and myself have been working on is still there! Lots of weirdness around work schedules have slowed it down, but it's still moving forward and looking pretty awesome! I'm looking forward to sharing that one, too! I really really enjoy working with 3033; despite weird timing things, it's been a lot of fun to mess with details and piece stuff together with someone else - especially when they're so talented!
Blar. I guess I didn't have much to say. I just feel out of touch a little lately, too. It's been weird trying to keep all the connections... connected? WHATEVER!
Anyway! Still here, still have art coming, still have ideas, still hype to work with 3033, still reading and checking uploads! Hope everyone else is surviving and finding things to smile at, too!

One of their personal pages (which I won't post publicly, but I can link privately) is currently displaying at least two images from 3033 and EssenceOfRapture that I know they aren't using with permission, and are posted without credit. Just a heads-up!

General | Posted 9 years agoAnd hello again, all followers, friends, acquaintances, and passing users! I guess we made it to September now, so it's time for another boring monthly update! :D
Firstly I am SO GLAD AUGUST IS OVER! I had a hell of a month. A really bad one, to be honest. I tore a bicep muscle, and between getting that treated and having to go through alllllllllll the new fun loops at work as a result of the workman's comp, I was left with no free time, one arm I could use for anything, and lots of worry and annoyance bottled up. And even as my arm has now gotten better, I spent a good chunk of the last few weeks feeling wildly depressed for very little reason... but anyway! Things seem to be on the upswing again! I have both arms back, I have a bit more free time, I can draw again, etc.! GOODNESS AHEAD!
So I'm excited to draw more! Especially because there are plans to do some collaborating with one of my favorite artists and friends, 3033 !
Look forward to that! I am! :D
...and on a less-cool note, I've had it brought to my attention that a certain user around the internet has been displaying/posting other artists' Mass Effect works or pictures of peoples' characters without permissions or copyrights or sourcing or anything.
In the process of trying to talk to them about removing other peoples' works until they got permission to use it, I instead now find myself blocked and the conversation removed entirely. The stuff they had displayed on DeviantArt is also gone, on the upside, but things on their personal webpage are still there.
So I just want to make other Mass Effect artists and commissioners to be aware of an internet user named Drtraumaty, and to know that they may be using images you've drawn or had drawn for you, without credit, on sites around the internet. Without permissions or credit.
...and I'm not posting this here to drag them through the mud - but to make their username visible to the community, so you can check to see if your own stuff is being used, since their breaking copyrights in this way is forcing us to be proactive against them, as they've turned down the opportunity to be civil or use common sense in their use.

And on the subject, we're both curious about how people might prefer it to be done. Right now the options we have are to:
>Lock genders as M and F, and auction each spot openly.
>No restrictions, each spot auctioned openly.
>Lock one spot to be a certain character, and auction the other spot (locked spot would be 'unlocked' to the winner if the bid was over a certain amount)
We're both not sure how this may go over with people, so if anyone interested has any preference to what THEY would be more willing to check out, please leave us a comment! The more we know, the better we can make it! :D

Blarg Update!
General | Posted 9 years agoSo on the third (a day after my last journal) I tore the muscle in my left bicep a bit at work. Luckily I have worker's comp helping get through that, and it was the muscle, and not the tendon... so it'll be better in a couple weeks instead of months + possible surgery..
..but still kinda sucky! Had a follow-up appointment to the initial one already, and it's started healing, but I still have weight restrictions and treatments to do and stuff. As a downside to that, work has set me on lighter duty. It's easy enough, but using one arm all day is wearing it out, too. Right arm's a bit sore, my reoccuring index finger pain is back, wrist is getting sore, and it might be a bit after I heal up before I take on a bigger drawing again because of it.
So yup... thing happened! No fun, but it could've been MUCH worse. Sorry if I don't come up with much new stuff to share for a bit, but I'm still around and looking at all the cool things other people make!

General | Posted 9 years agoHello again, internet! I haven't had much to say for a bit, apparently. Been working more than I want. As I'm sure we all do. Hahaha
Beyond that, I haven't been up to too much! Been trying to continue my Picture A Day habit (not drawings), and laying off drawing a little bit after more finger/arm strains from my job. And the few things I have worked on haven't exactly been Public-friendly, so if you're not watching NSFW, you probably haven't seen much from me (sorry)! But I'm still here! Hopefully with more productivity in the future, too!
On the upside, even though this week is super busy for me, I'm working in a different department for the rest of it. Hopefully that means I'll avoid more hand strain, and be able to REALLY draw again soon! Woo!
And on top of that, another position is opening sometime this week that I've been waiting MONTHS for. With any luck, I'll get that job, and switch away from the annoying straining thing, and towards something better! And for more money! :D
So I hope everyone stopping by to read this is doing okay, too! Summer survival continues!
I look forward to seeing and sharing lots of art with/from everyone soon, too!

A few people noticed already, but I never really officially said anything about it...
It just bothered me that two crappy pictures I'd made were some of my more popular ones, despite looking like turds. General | Posted 9 years agoTHREE JOURNALS IN TWO WEEKS?!
Yeah, I have a few updates. I'll be quick this time, and just get right to them!
1- The 8th was my birthday, and thanks to everyone that wished me a happy birthday despite me not expecting anyone to know! Hahaha
2- UGH I spent the last five days almost entirely in bed (minus some reluctant shifts at work because my managers wouldn't let me leave) and sick. Headcolds suck. Finally getting better, but not quite there yet.
...just in time for work again tomorrow. Woo?!
3- Beat Dark Souls 3 with 9 total deaths. Of note: one death was from using a gesture on accident in the first hours that moved me off of a ledge and killed me. Except for that, I feel pretty powerful. Hahaha
4- THE IMPORTANT ONE!

Yeah, I have a few updates. I'll be quick this time, and just get right to them!
1- The 8th was my birthday, and thanks to everyone that wished me a happy birthday despite me not expecting anyone to know! Hahaha
2- UGH I spent the last five days almost entirely in bed (minus some reluctant shifts at work because my managers wouldn't let me leave) and sick. Headcolds suck. Finally getting better, but not quite there yet.
...just in time for work again tomorrow. Woo?!
3- Beat Dark Souls 3 with 9 total deaths. Of note: one death was from using a gesture on accident in the first hours that moved me off of a ledge and killed me. Except for that, I feel pretty powerful. Hahaha

1- It's the weekend for me! Woo! Glad I'm not stuck working outside in the absurdly hot weather for this one. I'm going to be cooked just being at home!
2- Still romping my way through Dark Souls 3. From everything I know, I believe I have two bosses left. The final boss, and a final optional boss that's supposed to be tougher. Feeling confident though - I've managed to get this far in the game on just five total deaths. :O
3- MOST IMPORTANT! My sister had her first kid on the first. She was going to the hospital right around when I wrote the last journal, and had her new son (Ryan) later that day. So I'm an uncle now. With that thought drifting past, I think doing that coloring book idea sounds a lot cooler now. It wouldn't be hard to make a few of those, with just a bunch of different things in it. Plus I think it would be a neat thing to be able to give a kid someday, even if I don't see him much from my State-Away.

I've been a bit quiet lately. Partially because of heat making it really hard to draw at home, being tired a lot and trying to sleep more around work (which is really really getting to that point where I'm more than happy to leave as soon as I find ANY other job offer), and then this last weekend I went out and bought myself a Playstation 4. As an early birthday gift or something. hahaha
So yeah! Been quiet. Might be a bit less productive for a while through the heat waves, unfortunately. It's a lot easier on the computer and me to draw at temperatures where I'm not sweating like a GrossThing! Not having A/C in your house as you're heading into crazily hot days = pretty awful. Can't keep it cooler than outside at all.
But I'm still around, as always! And looking forward to the things I'll see, conversations to be had, and my own works when I get a chance to make them happen!
Hopefully everyone here is having a good lead-up to summer!

General | Posted 9 years agoWe're going to move past that last journal a bit, with some good news; jaw is not broken. Just severely strained it right at the joint, and kinda knocked my 'bite' off a little bit, but not a lot at all. Good news anyway, though! Survivable stuff! At the end of it all, I should only end up out a small chunk of tooth from all that.
Also: IT'S SO FREAKING HOT HERE THIS WEEK. Annoyance all over! I need a hovering fan that follows me everywhere. Hahaha
Hmm... what else? Well, I have drawn another pic, but it's not here on FA since it doesn't really fit this site at all. Took a rare break from the Mass-Effect related art, and went back to my first fandom; Metal Gear Solid. :O
I drew up a big full piece of lineart, with a background included, and have it sitting ready to stick on DA. Woo! Not quite up to coloring it at the moment, for whatever reason... wonder if any other artists I know might be interested in a passerby-collab, and finishing it up? :O

...I don't have lots to say, really. Just wanna chat! Hahaha
So I have a few doodles and ideas around, and am looking forward to finding some more cool things and time to draw them, but nothing's really got that "YES DO THIS!" feel so far, so progress is slow. Also work and work-hurt have been slowing me down a bit, too.
On that note, too, I kinda wrecked myself at work today. I was trying to stop something from hitting someone, and caught my foot while I was reaching, and kinda fell and ate it. Chin first, hard, on a concrete floor. Got that white flash, sharp pain in my ears, smashed my knee, and picked a bunch of chipped tooth out of my mouth. And then I had a bunch of blood all over my chin from a new gash it gave me there. I'm worried I may have slightly broken my jaw...
So that's probably not good! I haven't seen a doctor or dentist, though. I don't have one here since I last moved back, and no insurance or money for that, so all I can really do right now is hope that it's not too bad.
My life sucks.
NEXT DAY EDIT: Jaw isn't broken - just severely strained it. Lucky, really! I could've broken it, or hit the side of my head and had a concussion, or broke my wrists with the fall, or bit through my tongue, or all sorts of bad things. A jaw that hurts badly for a while, a chipped tooth, and some bruises = pretty good in comparison to any of that. I'm reaaaaaaally glad the jaw thing wasn't as bad as it could've been.

[April 13th, 2016] + OC Stuff!
General | Posted 9 years agoWooooooooooooo it's been a while now!
So first I'ma go through a few random updates;
1- It looks like my job is finally getting a little less annoying. Two newer people to replace some of the ones that had left, and I've been working a lot more regular shifts and hours lately. Which I approve of!
2- Two weeks ago I hurt my back at work... which has made sitting at the desk to draw a literal pain. And then last week I strained my finger I at work, which didn't help either. So after all the being-busy at work, I had a good chunk of time where I couldn't draw just because it was painful, too. BUT the back seems to be better/almost better now! One problem down! Yay!
3- I kinda like the idea of taking some commissions again with space opening up... maybe. Or I still have that possible YCH-pose-thing around. And some other posework I could open up if I decided to. Just cycling past that feeling of "that sounds fun!" I guess. Hahaha
Alright, now it's time for

1: Neila's Asexual. She's pretty much never had any interest in that, with anyone, ever. :O
2: She's also a bit of a stunted biotic. She still HAS biotic ability, but only barely. Enough to glow a bit, and maybe knock something over. Still nothing like anything you see in the games, definitely.
3: Her 'father' was a Salarian that she doesn't remember, due to their passing so early on in her life. Another Asari was the one to raise her growing up alongside her mother.
4: Both her mother and her mother's bondmate died within a couple years of each other, around Neila's 100th birthday. She went out towards her Mercenary lifestyle not long after that.
5: When the Reaper War started, she was on Lusia for work. She got trapped there, and ended up surviving with a small group of other people (mostly normal citizens) moving around the outside of towns until things finally, eventually, cleared up.
6: (continuing 5, really) Many of the people she was surviving with ended up near the same area on Lusia after the war. She joined them in rebuilding the area as best they could, and found herself a new home and life there, figuring it was a better start than trying to go back to what she'd done before.
7: She likes to exercise, and try new ways out to see what's the most fun to her. Recently she acquired and has come to enjoy using a human bicycle.
8: Her nickname for a few years (with a certain group of people, mostly) of her Mercenary work was "Heartless"

1: He turned 30 during the Reaper War. Once it ended, and he was able to leave the military, he did.
2: In the military, he spent most of his time as a fighter pilot, but started as a rank-and-file soldier before sort of accidentally finding a passion for flying. He actually found that interest in the way the pilots themselves behaved, and not a natural interest in flying. That was later!
3: Both of his best friends died in service during the Reaper War.
4: His entire immediate family survived the war, and continues to live spread out a bit on various Turian worlds. He lives on the Citadel, and doesn't see them as much as I'm sure the parents and sister would hope. Or maybe still too much. Hahaha
5: He's as pansexual as can be. Omnisexual. Sennsexual. Hahaha
6: He likes music with lots of raw energy to it. Including human metal.
7: He works out a lot. Partially to burn energy, and mostly just to help get peoples' interest a little more easily.
8: He likes to cook - and cooks Levo food occasionally! ...which is something he's been practicing for years to help impress non-Dextro people. Starting to see a pattern? Hahaha

General | Posted 10 years agoI've been pretty quiet lately, and really haven't had a lot of time to art in recent weeks (flooded schedule since my workplace hasn't hired replacements for two transfers out yet), but I'm still here!
I have a WIP going that needs a background reworked/redone entirely, and a finished pic I've had for a couple weeks that I'll post very soon, and then ideas in the head! Looking forward to more time to try and make more happen. Especially after how strangely productive I was LAST month, this one feels super slow for me.
BUT ANYWAY! Still around! Working towards being around more, too! And can guarantee at least one good upload between now and April, despite the busy work schedules!

So despite my work and free time being a weird awkward mess for like this entire last month, I actually managed to get a lot of pics done in the cracks. Not a lot of like... super great pics, or anything... but still!
Now we're on to March already (going through the year quickly!), and back to some more busy times at work for a week or two. Looking forward to some warmer, dryer weather, though! And not to Daylight Saving's messing up my sleeping schedule! ahdfsiglhasdf!
...ANYWAY! I have a couple picture ideas planned that I'm going to try and get to as soon as I can, and then I'm thinking about trying for some commissions again. Not quite sure how it'll go, but it could be fun!
I wish I had more to talk about, but I feel a bit numb to a lot of my life lately, and don't even really know what to say about anything. So I hope everyone is doing well! And that you can all keep managing to create and enjoy some awesome art! Looking forward to seeing and sharing more, and chatting with all the peoples when I can! :D

I need to gather up some time and get to the things I keep having to push aside, though; the coloring book linearts, a collab idea, etc.

I didn't do that much myself. Worked right around the holidays, and spent the days off just kinda having days off.

I've also had a couple collabs finished now! Both artists I worked with are so much better with colorwork than I am; the finished images came out looking GORGEOUS in both cases, and I'm stoked to have been a part of it.

OR I could make both charas volunteered so that I could open up the options even more.
Decisions, decisions! Of course, there have been LOTS of YCH pics and NSFW works recently, too, so I don't really wanna flood things, or pull bids away from people.

I was also considering doing it similarly to how I did that Senn/Heno pic a while back (NSFW: ), where I could let people volunteer their charas, since it's going to be an actual finished piece, and not a sketch. Then I could pick the option that sounds best when the time to draw it comes.
OR I could make both charas volunteered so that I could open up the options even more.
Decisions, decisions! Of course, there have been LOTS of YCH pics and NSFW works recently, too, so I don't really wanna flood things, or pull bids away from people.

...so yeah. Made it past December! Looking forward to longer days, and hopefully some warmth soon. Won't happen, but I can hope! Hahaha

General | Posted 10 years agoWell, I'm a bit late to update! I actually have a couple things to post this time, though! That's a nice change!
...except the not-nice parts, like spending the whole last week or so in bed and terribly sick. That part sucked. Missed a bunch of work, and I'm going to be stretched reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally thin on cash this month. Don't think I'll be able to buy Christmas gifts this year - and if I do, it'll be pretty last-minute. So that part sucks!
AND I couldn't even draw really on all those days off work! Thwarted! Need a tiny table or something I can set at the end of the bed so I can lay down and use the tablet at the same time. Hahaha
Also yeah... not a lot to upload. Only one real WIP started so far. There will be pics in time, but I'm still kinda sick, and it's really hard to sit at the desk and try to make stuff happen when I just have this massive urge to go lie down and be warm and rest right now. But sooooooooooooooon!
...so I'm thinking of making a coloring book sometime.
Not like... coloring one, but making one. I love making linework, and as much as I love color, I don't like to color. Creating something like this seems like a cool idea that works with that!
And I could make a little album of it, or a collection in stash for people to download and share for free! Then digital artists could use the linework on the computer, or people could print it out and give it to kids or something. I like the idea! I don't know exactly what I'd draw yet, but the idea's there, and I would love to try it!

General | Posted 10 years agoStill here, FA! Even though I never really leave - I just get quieter. Which is weird, since stuff actually happened for me in this last month...
Like I mentioned last update, I was actually hired recently (just repeating for my monthly update)! Been at the new job for just over two weeks now. Great company, bad job, but it's a paycheck again! Really nice to not have to worry about basic things in life as much. Stuff like "Can I eat?" Hahaha
Hoping to find another position/job there sooner rather than later, but at the very least I can get by well enough! Good things!
...and the yeah. Being able to stop stressing about bills and money and work has helped me enjoy my free time more! Played some games a bit, drawn some more (random things, too!), and enjoyed more fun conversation with awesome people online!
Aaaaaaaaand kinda almost wanted to give up colored/coloring pictures a few times this last week, too. Art struggles. But won't! Just because I'm slow and bad at and don't usually like doing colorwork doesn't mean it wouldn't be awesome to be better with! Gotta beat that artist-brain!
Yup. STUFF! Anyway, still around! As always. Digging through and doodling up art still! It's nice to wander a bit when the rain's hitting the roof on a quiet day...
