Commission updates (also 100k faves!)
General | Posted 4 years agoHey all, thanks so much for 100k faves on my FA gallery!! Also wanted to give an update on where my commissions are at!
Obvs I slowed down a ton in 2020, and I've been slowly getting my stride back this year, thanks in part to getting my bills covered by adopts instead of adding to my commission queue (I keep all my currently unsold adopts in this folder btw!)
I've been updating my main Trello to reflect the order I intend to work on things in. I've been bumping commissions up into a list of things to focus on first based on who has contacted me about them, since some commissioners have been content to just let me go at whatever pace works, so I've been trying to tackle things from people who were hoping for things sooner first. I got a bit TOO optimistic for things I could handle in the month of May, but still got a lot more done than I have in a while, so I've got a more realistic list planned out for June, and made a separate Trello just for June to help me focus: https://trello.com/b/s7c7vKzw/jimbohusky-june And once I've cleared out stuff that people reached out to me about, I'll continue working on things in chronological order.
But yeah, just wanted to share a status update! Thank you all for the love on my recent art posts, and continued support as I keep working through my backlog! either join or support your local protestors
figured i should make that clear here too in case anybody's got a problem with it. been really active on twitter since my city (Richmond) is among those with really intense protests and i've been doing charity streams to support my local bail fund in case my friends who are out protesting get arrested, and to my local mutual aid org (https://www.instagram.com/mad_rva/) since the bail fund has been overwhelmed with support. we actually raised $420.69 just last night! https://twitter.com/jimbohusky/stat.....537430530?s=20
if there are protests or riots in your city, look for charities accepting donations for bail funds for protestors or people arrested for giving humanitarian aid to protestors (like in this list here https://twitter.com/IMANISHANTE/sta.....64681080983559 ) or mutual aid groups for people in need whose jobs have been affected or incomes taken away by family members being arrested (or by covid-19, that's still a thing)
and also if you don't have local protests you can send support to black ppl who have already been suffering before these protests gave law enforcement an excuse to last out more violently than ever, like in this list https://twitter.com/RyukosGokuUni/s.....39563613908992
I'm going to be uploading stuff i'm behind on here so that I can reduce my tweets more to boosting other people's commission info and resources to help protestors, so if you're here from twitter feel free to say hi!
6/3 edit - Jesus, I didn't think to check back on this for dipshit comments because it's common sense to give a shit about other people. I don't give a rat's ass how many cops you irrationally worship, the only "good cop" is one who quits, and I don't give a flying fuck if you're a repeat commissioner, I will block your bootlicking ass if you open your ignorant mouth to cast any doubt on this movement. There is no time or place for debating human rights. You can message me elsewhere if you got blocked and realize you were wrong and want to apologize.
But otherwise, thank you for the messages of solidarity, and feel free to reach out to me if you're trying to do something to help the movement and could use a boost. I hope these resources are useful to people who haven't commented but needed to know what's at stake.

Quarantine + art update
General | Posted 5 years agoHey folks, just wanted to give an update to everybody waiting on art from me... I'm still working, just slowed down by mental health limits. My partner and I are both doing fine in quarantine all things considered, just gotta take more steps to deal with social isolation, prioritizing mental health stuff and whatnot (I've got anxiety, they've got depression, neither of us have medication or therapy, we do what we can;;;) Tbh I was already struggling a fair amount before the coronavirus really hit here, and if anything it's forced me to take my mental health a lot more seriously to the best of my ability outside of actual professional help (which I was relying on Bernie winning the presidency to help me get access to, time will tell what becomes of that...) But my efforts over the last few weeks have been paying off and I've been having more good days than bad. We're financially doing all right too since we've both already been working from home for nearly a year now, and especially thanks to my Patreon supporters I've been able to go longer without taking on any new work and just focusing on due commissions. (I'm actually doing a poll on patreon for what art with an OC i should do at the end of April!)
So yeah, overall I'm just working slowly but doing okay, and I'm gonna keep working as hard as I can! I've got a lot of things in my queue that are almost done and I'm just looking for more of those good days where I accomplish a lot to crank out a bunch of finished pieces, but I'm making sure to get at least a few sketches done each day and a step or two on the next commission in my queue.
Feel free to reach out to me if you're wanting an update on your commission too, or curious about whether I'm open for new things if you're okay with a long wait time.

Isolation Sketch Comms!
General | Posted 6 years agoHey all, I'm currently self-isolating due to the coronavirus and my rental office isn't cutting us any breaks, so I'm opening for $35-per-slot sketch commissions!

I'm taking payment up front for them, and starting on doing 2-3 sketches a day drawn in order of payment once the 20th hits - finishing up the last of my 2019 commissions until the 20th, then going to try to take at least a little of a break with Animal Crossing from the 20th to the 25th, and I like to think a few sketches a day will help me from getting too stir-crazy since not leaving the house until at least the end of April, if not later.

Commission queue update!
General | Posted 6 years agoHey all, now that FA is back up I figured I should post a general update on comms!
First off, I'm really grateful for how patient my commissioners have been with me over the last few months as I've slowed down a lot - the holidays were a series of crises for me that would take too long to describe, but basically I spent a lot of the winter pretty depressed and struggling to work. I'm sorry to those who have been waiting for some communication from me as well, it's been tough to reconcile feeling ashamed of my lack of productivity with my usual businesslike nature.
I've managed to at least keep going if not slowly, and I've actually been doing much better lately and sped up accordingly - I'm going to make it a point to get all YCH sketches updated and all approved sketches inked this weekend, so if you want something changed, feel free to reach out to me now and I'll take it into a account while I work on yours! I'll also be flexible with people who've been waiting a while who may want changes but don't see this journal, I just figured I'd save myself some time by putting out a PSA for ppl waiting on commissions and just blast off with projects in need of updates while I'm feeling 100%.
Thanks again for all the feedback on my gallery and support over the last few months, I'm eager to get caught up all the way and start fresh with shorter turnaround times on my art!!

Vietnam trip Nov. 20th - Dec. 2nd!

So just a heads up that if you contact me during that time, I'm not sure if I'll be able to respond until I'm back. I'll check for messages if I can, I'm just not sure what the costs are going to shake out to be for data rates on our phones, and I may need to be pretty sparing with checking for messages. I'd already been relying on commissions and YCH's to pay my bills for a couple months, but after getting called in a few inconvenient times to cover shifts there, I finally went ahead and gave them my 2 weeks notice.

General | Posted 7 years agoI didn't really notice until I got my new schedule, but my job has been gradually cutting down my hours and I've been gradually ramping up the number of commissions I take to the point that I only have 5 hours a week for the next few weeks at my dayjob... so it's time I make it official that I'm a full-time artist now, and commissions and Patreon support pays my bills, and i'm gonna be talking those up more to make sure I keep putting food on the table!

General | Posted 7 years agoHey guys, I think I'm comfortable with uploading stuff here again. I was pleased to see FA crack down on hate speech and hate group imagery and kick out alt-furries, but wanted to bide my time for a bit and see what they'd do about pedophilia and sneaky ways of depicting underage characters... and now that I've seen some more popular artists get suspended for that, I'm feeling pretty good about their staff taking ethical issues like those more seriously.
I may take a little while to catch my gallery up with what I've been doing on Twitter, but my art has become a much more viable form of income for me and I've been a lot more productive over the last couple months!

General | Posted 7 years agoI've deleted all my art from here and will be uploading again over time on Tumblr, with just my commission info listed on Weebly - I'll make a summary post about the issue on Tumblr soon, and I've been talking about it on my Twitter lately as well. Feel free to contact me at any of those sites or any links from my profile info, I'm not slowing up on my art at all - more prolific than ever, in fact!
I won't go into detail why in this post because I'm afraid my account will be suspended or banned by current mods if I do, and I hope to come back here once they resolve the issue and those mods no longer have any influence at FA. I encourage everyone reading this to educate themselves on the issue at hand - it shouldn't be hard to figure out what I'm referring to.
Thank you all for all the support you've given me - I've loved my time on this site, and I hope it's not over forever.
