Meme 4 duh Masses
General | Posted 16 years ago*Are you a furry?
I consider myself one, yes.
*If you have a Spouse/SO - Is he/she a furry too?
Not in relationship of any kind at the moment.
*How long have you been in the community?
How long have I felt this way? Since my teens.
*How did you find furry?
Quite by accident, even though I've heard of anti-fur boards on usenet.
*What's your reason for furry (what interested you to get into the community)?
I'm not alone in how I see myself and the world around me.
*What's Furry to you?
1. Knowledge that animals are capable of feeling pain/emotion, and are as individual as humans.
2.Feel a kinship to a different species of lifeform than what I am.
*If someone found out you're a furry and asked you about it how would you respond?
Hopefully the questions are sincere to begin with. I'd tell them how much I know about furrydom and try to dispel a notion or two.
*What are your favorite aspects of our community?
People unafraid to express themselves outside of what mundanes (non-furs) would consider acceptable.
*Do you use any furry terms? (i.e. yiff, paws, murr?)
I'm actually more inclined to use TF (Transformers)(i.e.: "Don't get your transistors in a bunch!") terms than anything like that.
*What do you wish furry was NOT associated with?
(No thanks to CSI) The manor in which everybody is into finding the next "yiff" from one moment to another.
*How strongly do you feel about someone bashing the community as a whole?
Can't do much about those who left for some reason, right? But those who are on the outside who do so out of ignorance are not seeing the whole story: they come across as those tea party types nowadays who spout without reason. Or real spelling! XD
*How strongly do you feel about anyone bashing you yourself for your interest based on the media's aspect of what furry is?
Never had to face it myself, so I dunno.
*We all know furries have alot of sexual aspects in this fandom, What's your opinion on it?
T'ain't my business what others do in that regard, as long as they are responsible for their actions.
PERSONAL
*What is/are your fursona(s)?
For the longest while I've called myself "Jemi Mi'Krelx", basically somebody that is part of a planetary society called the "K'Veht-sav". Nowadays, I just call myself Jim Ghote. Sometimes I seem to channel the spark of my TF original character Gamma Antares, a mech who was rebuilt with caprine features.
*Do you have any fetishes that pertain to the fandom?
If I told you, I would have to kill you! j/k, I'm so boring a fetish would be an upgrade!
*If you could magically morph into your fursona would you?
Sure!
*What other fanbases/groups are you a part of?
Forementioned TF, Trek (old & new), One of the untold many who are fans of the original Lost in Space robot.
*Anthro/Feral, Therian or Kemonomimi (Not a furry, just a human with animal ears and a tail)?
Therian I do believe.
*Are you a fursuiter? If yes, how many do you own? If No, do you ever plan on being a suiter?Nope, no suit of that kind in my closet. I don't think I'll ever afford on anyway.
*How many of your friends are furry?
Online: a few
Real life:? I wouldn't know, I guess there is no quick and dirty way of knowing.
*How many pets do you own, if any?
None as of 1995, two died and one ran off. I'd like to have a kitty, but my room mate doesn't.
*Aside from furry what other interests do you have?
bass playing, home recording, reading, movies (Netflix kicks beau-tocks!), getting out of the apartment once in a while.
*Are you confident enough in yourself to say that you're a fur, no matter what the media says?
What's it to the media? Yep, I'm a fur!
MEETUPS
*Do you attend any cons? If no, would you attend any cons? If yes, which cons have you been to?
Other than a Trek con in the 80's and a B-movie con in the 90's, I haven't been to a fur con yet. I was planning to go to either AC or Morphacon this year, but my heath situation put a total kibosh on that.
*Do you go to local meetups(bowling, public outings...etc)?
I don't know if any happening. Besides, I'd get snubbed for being near 50 (probably).
*Have you ever attended a furry party? If no, would you attend one?
No. I can be such a wallflower, it wouldn't be worth it.
ONLINE
*Have you ever met up with a fur you talked to online?
Nope.
*What furry websites do you attend?
FurAffinity, sometimes FurChan:
http://fchan.us/
some boards on LiveJournal. Too bad the fur-based webcomics are dwindling.
*What non furry websites do you frequent?
Livejournal, Facebook, sometimes a christian site or two. I tend to wander when I do go online.
*Has the fandom done anything for you that you're thankful for? Has it taught you anything or brought you anything you treasure greatly?
Yes that I'm not alone in my furryness, unlike the late 70's when my furry epiphany happened; I didn't know where to go or who to turn to when it happened.

Where have I been?
General | Posted 16 years agoGood question.
Right now as of this posting, I'm dealing with colon cancer and the financial fallout that comes when life blind sides someone. It is not a good fallout by any means, as I have a stack of unpaid bills staring me in the face and Medicaid willingness to handle it is unknown to me right now. Right now I'm hoping on getting at least some hours since I have medical releases from both doctors to resume work, but I have to sweat out the waiting.
Creatively, I'm at a bit of a stand still: I have written only one thing for LJ's TFMech_Exchange board, and tried to record some noise, but that is the extentas of this moment. I have decided to gank out the stopbox shelf, and see if any of those effects are still usable since one multi-fx is toast, but the others might still be alright.

Just freaking garbage!
General | Posted 16 years ago Went through more archive tape tonight, about an hour and forty-five minutes worth on one and a half cassettes, and all I can say is that I must have been on something to call that pile of boring, smelly noise music. How dare I!
What I've posted on FA is actually the good stuff, and not indicative of the years-old dross I've heard on average when going through these old recordings.
I can't really blame it on the meager gear I was using at the time: a couple of cheapo department store keyboards (the venerable SK-1 and a Yamaha portasound), a beat Pro-One, some stomp-boxes, a Zoom multi-fx unit, a small DJ mixer and a couple of cassette decks. I can't blame these, these were what I managed to get my mitts on at the time. No, it boils down to me making the sonic equivalent diarrhea, and calling it decent at the time.
This is why I must see this looking back as the means to tell myself that I can do better than this with what I have now, and to make sure such episodes of sonic wankery are very few and far between.
This is what I must take from project tapes of the past, even though they might provide a few diamonds in the rough.

A Little Closer
General | Posted 17 years agoAs I went shopping for B-Day gifts for a couple of near three year old nieces (they're cousins actually,) I made a stop at the Southpark Ray-Dee-Oh Shanty to see if they had some parts to further along the glacier that is the studio build.
Found: a couple of female RCA -> 1/8" mono adapters, and a right angle 1/8" stereo adapter.
The RCAs are for connecting the SK-1 up to the Coreā¢. All I need is to find a suitable wall-wart P/S for it. While connecting it up, I grabbed some of the split-side conduit and threaded the Cheez-O sampler leads that were just hooked up, as well as the MIDI and audio lines coming from the DS-8. Now it looks really tight down there, but I'll probably replace it sometime later with a longer length of conduit of a different color. Not really critical at this point. Next piece of hardware is the percussion controller that is still closeted at this point. I'll be using a snare stand for it; fits like a dream!
The 1/8" right angle? That is for Portabrayne so I can use external speakers without accidentally moshing the cable or the laptop's audio-out jack.

WhaHappened?!
General | Posted 17 years agoRather ironic that Live Journal is now down, probably all the Biden v. Palin debate discussion bringing it down!
And now the hard part...
General | Posted 17 years agoDebugging the glitches!
http://jim-ghote.livejournal.com/ tells of what has to be done yet.
The rack is now in position and some of the hook ups are established.

As this link indicates, I used red plastic conduit to channel all power feeds from all points of power origins to where they are to go. My biggest problem was when it came to three "lump in the middle" power transformers came into the mix. I ended up having to tie them down with velcro strips and mounting plates that I got with the original rack order. If/when I find a better way of securing them, I'll implement it asap. My next off time, I'll move the rack into place and connect the external stuff for the grand re-boot of the whole thing. Then comes fixing glitches that might happen.
Then, the horror that is Throbadelia will continue!!! (insane cackles)[/CENTER]
In other news, I'm now jamming with a couple of muso buddies I've know for a while. I'm right now learning, at least trying to , a few originals that have been written to this point, as well as 3 Doors Down's "Away From the Sun". Since we rehearse in a demo studio, we can record stuff down for posterity. I'll have to see if I'll be able to upload anything up here when we get to that point.

Update on Rack Project
General | Posted 18 years agoI'm starting to make some head way in the rack project, but I'm not giving an ETA on its *first boot* as of yet. In the mean time I just got my hooved-hands on a Tascam USB Audio/MIDI interface that will hopefully be the final link in this madness.
After that, the real insanity will start.
Must find white lab coat...

Drama King Time
General | Posted 18 years agoHey, long time no see.
Serious stuff below...
I'm up to what, chapter 18 of a story where nobody has even offered one bit of anything in terms of critique, encouragement, hints, pointers, or even a "please don't write anymore" or even "more, please".
Not even one.
I have doubts that I'm of even any use (yes, even at the age I'm at!) to anybody for anything.
I guess since I'm no longer in my late 20's~early 30's, I ain't worth shit, and nothing I do, nobody gives a crap about.
