A New Chapter
General | Posted 15 years agoIt really has been an amazing 5+ years, but as they say "All good things come to an end". For those that don't already know, JD and I are no longer together. It was a mutual decision we came to after much discussion and it wasn't a decision we took lightly.
He's an amazing person and deserves to be happy with Skroy. I've given them my blessing and wish them both well in everything. As I've told JD, it's important to me that he's happy, because I still really care about him. If he is happy then I know I can be happy for him too.
Still, this hasn't been the easiest situation to deal with emotionally. I mean, who could ever deal with this in any easy way anyway? But I have hope for the future that things will work out ok.
I've had friends come to me and offer their support and for each of you that have, I am ever so grateful to you for being there. I'm probably gonna need a bit of that in the near future :)
On our last anniversary JD had given me a very special gift. As he stated on his LJ:
My original gift idea was one I'd had for a while, since our first anniversary, actually. I'd had this little 5x7 sketchbook with about 25-ish pages in it, and I'd filled it in with sketches of memories throughout the years. My original intent was to have fully colored pictures on each of the pages, along with notes to tell a story with each picture. Though it was unfinished in my eyes, many encouraged me to give the gift anyway - and as everyone had told me would happen, Jimmy loved the gift when I gave it to him during our celebratory dinner
It was the sweetest gift I had ever gotten and felt like I wanted to make something in return. So during during JD's week long work trip to Chicago, I was at home feverishly working on a video I wanted to put together for him as a birthday present as well as to commemorate all the wonderful memories we've had together before separating. I put together a mix of pictures and video matched to Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You". It was actually my first time really putting together a video like that and I'm really happy how it came out - not to mention the mix of emotions I had putting all that footage together.
It was really a moment we shared when I finally showed him in person. I wanted him to know that I would never forget him or the memories we shared. He'll always have a place in my heart. Love ya, pup <3

So yeah, I've never played a Pokemon game before and have been playing Pokemon Platinum as my intro to the series. It's pretty darn fun, I'll admit. A lot of my main battlers at the moment are near or around level 20, to give you an idea of where I am.
Anyone wanna trade or battle with me? Curious to see how good the online aspect is. Platinum can indeed connect online with Diamond or Pearl as well, if you have those games.
My friend code is 0904 4652 3220
My trainer name is Alex
See you there!

Crazy idea, ain't it? It should be fun ^^ I'm surprised more people haven't taken advantage of it. Though I can understand money issues.

Fursuit Tourney
General | Posted 16 years agoHey all. For those of you who have an LJ and follow it. My character, Bobby Bobcat, is up for voting in the fursuit tourney today.

I don't really take it seriously, but consider it all in good fun. Besides, a little character exposure doesn't hurt either :)

I must be crazy...
General | Posted 16 years agoI've been watching the entire series of the original Full Metal Alchemist anime (the dub) lately and I've really enjoyed it. I know there's a new series out that's closer to the original manga, but I haven't watched those episodes yet.
Now it seems that I've developed a little bit of a thing for Ed >.> He's cute as heck and has this whole bad boy, but with a good heart personality that's just awesome^^
I think this is the first time I've gotten a thing for an animated character that wasn't furry, heh ;)
Oh Ed, you sexy beast you... http://cjblackwing.files.wordpress......ward-elric.jpg

Drawing and stuff
General | Posted 17 years agoSo a little while back I tried to get into drawing. I was using this book to teach myself - Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
http://www.amazon.com/Drawing-right-brain-Betty-Edwards/dp/087477523X/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231822061&sr=8-12
It actually does a good job of teaching someone the basics of drawing. Though this book is focused on drawing stuff that you can see in front of you, rather than creating stuff from your imagination.
I picked up a lot of good tips from it, but I have found that the actual procedure of drawing itself is very difficult for me. Sitting there and putting pencil to paper is just a mental process that I have a lot of difficulty with. I just get stressed out or a headache if I'm trying to work on a drawing for a while. I'm trying to find that "flow" when I draw but results have been very inconsistent as far as that goes.
Though I did successfully draw a few things that I'll be posting to scraps sometime soon. I'll likely try drawing again in the future, but for now I'm trying to get into writing this short dirty story I'm working on... See how well I do with the writing thing instead,

Furry Weekend Atlanta
General | Posted 17 years agoI haven't been to this con in a number of years and I am somewhat tempted to go in 2009. The hotel and surrounding location sound great and I have heard people saying it's a very good con.
Granted it IS a new hotel though. Perhaps MFFs location wasn't as great as FWAs will be, but it was disappointing to hear from most that MFF wasn't as good a con at the new hotel. Especially since that was the first time I ever went. All I heard about beforehand was how amazing MFF was.
It would help to know who's going though. Who of you is going to FWA and would wanna hang out and such?

Bas Rutten and kicking ass

This video is awesome. Forget Mr. T and Chuck Norris. Meet Bas Rutten! The guy that was in GTA 4 funnily enough.
I found this vid after chatting with a co-worker about martial arts. We were talking about Krav Maga specifically, which I may try out.

My Europe Trip and Eurofurence
General | Posted 17 years agoThe trip to Europe, including EF, turned out to be an enjoyable experience :) It was my first time ever across the Atlantic. Our trip took us to Paris, the Netherlands, to EF, then back to the Netherlands again.
In Paris, we got to check out a bunch of the landmarks (and get some pretty pics). Plus we got to do fursuiting near the Eiffel Tower! That was great. One night, we went out to this restaurant called the "Au Chien Qui Fume" (The Smoking Dog). It was all canine themed and the food was excellent. We tried out the foie gras, after chickening out on getting escargot, hehe.
While in Paris, we got to stay with Timduru for a bit. He was an awesome host:) I liked the area of town he was in. Very pretty.
During our stay in the Netherlands, we stayed with Dukefawks who lived in a port town north of Amsterdam. It was interesting seeing just about everyone there riding their bikes everywhere along those narrow streets. We also tried pickled herring, which is a popular dutch treat. It's basically a raw fish you eat. They have fish carts that sell 'em, similar to the way we have hot dog stands here in NYC. I liked it ^^
Of course, we visited Amsterdam for a bit, including a stroll down the Red Light District during the afternoon - what an interesting place, heh. Would be more interesting if there were guys in those windows, but I digress ;) We passed by a place called the Banana Bar there. I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out what they do in that place (!!!)
Also visited a coffee shop. I tried something called "Special Cake" and it's quite interesting. Think chocolate muffin, but more ;) An interesting first experience with that to say the least! Wouldn't mind trying something like that again sometime.
Then we have EF. What an awesome con that was. It was so wonderfully social. Everything is set up so that most of the con is in a central area. It really makes the con better when you can just hang out in a certain area and run into people like that. It's really the location that makes or breaks a con and EF definitely has a prime spot in that right now. The hotel is on a hill that looks over the town - the view is amazing.
It also helps that there's a bar and place for food right there too. The bar was used quite a bit for sure. There was even free German beer at one point - craziness! I really had a good time there. Hopefully, we can make it to the one next year.
Thanks to all the old friends I hung out with and the new ones I met during the trip. You're what helped make it memorable :)
