I am proud of myself, so proud I remembered to make a journal about this here. :)

That's right. I said I was refocusing my efforts and for months I've been writing not one, not two, not three, but four stories in the same universe. This is perhaps my oldest continuous universe that I still touch and haven't redesigned entirely, but I am slowly undoing some previous progress. It's not exactly fun to undo stuff you've done a few months ago, but peeling away at stuff a decade old? Yeah. Yeah, I like doing that, because it's all new and fresh and fun. I'm enjoying writing again.

Sorry for my kobold people who wanted more adventures with the very unconventional and unexpected spouse. I do really want to do that again at some point and at the very least do all of you—you who are my strongest soldiers—the justice you deserve. There will be shortstack lizards in another story within this universe, though. For the immediate future you'll have to be satisfied with tall and thin lizards if you can stomach spaceships and gunfights.

Thanks again for sticking with me all this time. We're just over ninety (90!) thousand words into it now. A little slower than that manic pace you remember, but I assure you I am not slacking off.

I've decided to put all my fantasy work on hold and focus on science fiction. I know I've been talking a lot about An Unlikely Bride and the sequel, but I've been reading it and I don't like it. I've been pulled in so many directions and when I do write it often becomes some frustrated and incoherent scream of creativity into the crippling void left by a lot of procrastination. Naturally the resulting work is below the standards that I've set for myself. I'm not going to scrap what I've done so far and I certainly have the intent to finish what I've started, but I had a stroke of creativity six years ago and not a lot to show for it since then. As much as I'd like to say that I can write just about anything and do this, that, and the other thing, I'm going to be honest and admit that I'm just not up to it. Writing An Unlikely Bride was a chore back then and editing it is an even bigger one now. Instead of struggling with something I don't have much interest in I'm going to work on the universe that has been close to me for over a decade and one that I genuinely feel good about improving. I'll revisit Anoria someday and I hope you'll be around to join me.

So a lot of things have happened recently that I won't go into here, but I have started writing again with the usual ten-thousand words being put down over the course of the day. However, there is a catch, I have to have a day where I can do that and my arthritis has to be cooperative.

If you're wandering the internet looking for my old story I haven't finished editing it yet and creatively I'm not sure I'm able to go through and fix the whole thing. As of right now I am considering writing it again from scratch. For those of you who are old readers or just kobold enthusiasts, feel free to post this journal in the appropriate thread on /trash/ since I don't do the imageboard thing anymore. (assuming such a thread exists) I've made a note, I have a constellation of physical notes now, to post a major update here so I'll try to do that if all the progress I hope to make goes relatively well.

Yes, I am aware of the problem and I thank those of you who reached out. I was going to rehost it as-is, but since the plan always (well mostly always) was to edit it and release it again I'm not going to bother to put it up until that's done.
