Heyo, and how's it going?
I've been helping my partner get out of a rough patch, and while they're not completely out of the woods the worst is over. So now I feel comfortable with continuing in resuming progress on Anima Alter!
Now how things will go? That's what I wanna talk about.

I've decided that I won't release new pages until they're finished, but once they are finished the pages will be queued to be released on Comic Fury and FurAffinity on Thursdays at about 11am. When all of the pages are released, the segment will be released in bulk on Newgrounds. This does mean that there will be hiatus periods, so please be patient. Perhaps I'll make little hiatus art pages to tide people over. Like how cartoons and anime have those splash screens in between commercial breaks but for comics.

I believe that this would be the best schedule for me to work on the comic while maintaining a healthy work/life balance (I work all week now and have short bit of time to dedicate to comic work, but I want to do it anyway).

I'm unsure if I should pre-release pages on Ko-Fi. As in - if a page is completed, you can pay/subscribe to my Ko-Fi to see the page early. I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to do so - I don't believe that I have proved myself to be a good enough webcomic creator to pay for - but financially it could benefit me in the long run and help motivate me to work more on my comic. Regardless, this decision is up in the air so until then, you'll have to wait for new pages.

Hopefully, regardless of what happens, people enjoy Anima Alter. It's something that I love working on and love daydreaming about. I hope people can feel the same joy that I do.

Hello, it's jkflay. Didn't think I'd be writing this, but it's important to me that I announce some things.

Work on Anima Alter will be put on hiatus for a while. There are pages scheduled to released in the future, but new pages will not be created. This is for a variety of factors.

I recently got hired for a new job, so now I'm handling two jobs at the same time. Balancing two jobs and college has been a task so I hope you understand.

However, the greatest factor for the hiatus is my partner - Roseheart - losing their power and struggling financially. If you didn't know, I've been dating Roseheart for over a year now and we've been happily together. Our relationship is long-distance due to us living in two different countries - I live in the USA, Roseheart lives in Mexico - and despite the struggles with recent world events and such our love hasn't wavered.
In recent times, Roseheart has struggled to acquire enough money to keep their power/lights on and has had it turned off. Communication's been limited between the both of us, but from what I know their power may be turned back on at some point but no solid date.
I've done my best to support my partner, even giving them some money to help them pay their power bill, but I feel like it's not enough. I've decided to pause on my side projects to focus on supporting Roseheart because I love them. I love my partner, I want to see my lover happy and smiling again, and I will do what I can to help. And if it means I have to put my projects on ice, then so be it.

If you were looking forward to more Anima Alter, I apologize but I have to prioritize what's important.

Hello! I know I've been pretty inactive on arting for a while but it's kinda been on purpose. Let me explain.

For a good while I've been working on Anima Alter, my little pet project after all of these years, and it's finally come together in comic form. It's still in it's early stages, and while I have some pages finished, I'd prefer to have the entire comic complete before I release it. As in create the whole comic and release a page per day, that sort of schedule. So you guys will be waiting for a while for it!

I've also started college and that's incredibly important for me to take care of. Eats away at time, you know.

But the one thing that's kept and will keep me busy.... looking after a friend's puppy.
See a friend of mine will be moving abroad and their family will be away for a long while, leaving their puppy behind. So I'll be looking after the dog which will be a grand task!
I'm not a dog person myself, but I'm willing to do this for my friend. So things for for me will be very busy in September!

Now that's not to say I'm going to go artless this month! Over on Bluesky I'm participating in an NSFW art event called ArtFuck so I'll try to find time to fit something in there. And if I can, I'll post what I've made here.

But that's what September's looking like for me. If you commission me please keep in mind my situation this month and that I won't have alot of time to dedicate solely to art.

Hey, it's been a bit, and I've been busy.

Alot of unsuccessful job searching (all that Summer time, gone... ): ), alot of figuring out how to work out Anima Alter as a comic, and doing some ArtFight stuff (may post some here later, idk).

But recently I've been getting pushed to make more money. I do have a job don't get me wrong, but my family wants me to make money off of my art HARD.
On average the art commissions I get are once in a blue moon. For my family this isn't enough. For them I need to make art commissions almost everyday which just isn't realistic.
Sad to say, nobody cares about what I do, or to be more accurate, nobody WANTS me - especially with AI image generators and sloppers scamming people. And I've known it for a long time, that's why I've made art my hobby and not a major focus or advertised it much (plus I'm bad at selling things).

I'm never gonna be one of the hotshot indie artists, I make garbage art that no one wants to see, that's how it is.

But with how things are in my life now, I have to push my art commissions because... man I gotta do something!

The grand finale of my 3D modelling journey! Did I make a masterpiece? Did I get rid of CR7?

No, and no.

Simply put, I'm just bad at 3D modeling, and it's not something I had alot of passion in (frankly it's something my boyfriend does better than me) and even after trying to use a free-use model, I got stopped by modding blockades.

So, I think it's time to throw in the towel and get back to my usual stuff. Back to trying to manifest my Anima Alter story, and back to making KOF Furries (cuz it's fun).

Just a little update on what I've been doing recently.

If it hasn't been obvious from the ton of KOF Furry art I've made this year, I love KOF and Fatal Fury, and I've been excited for the newest game from SNK, Garou: City of the Wolves.

However, it was recently revealed that real life celebrities Cristiano Ronaldo (a famous soccer player, alleged r-pist) and Salvatore Gannachi (a DJ no one has ever heard of) as playable characters.
Not just them as background characters or costumes or even cameos, these two are part of this game's base roster. Unavoidable and jarring inclusions in a game that's been anticipated for about twenty years.

Seeing this game be soured by corporate greed and cheap inclusion for marketing purposes has divided the SNK fanbase, as well as the general fighting game fanbase over these two, with many refusing to engage or buy CotW which I absolutely understand. People don't want to support something that's propping up an alleged sex criminal (and a nobody) that were put in because of higher up meddling.

But for the remaining people that are still going to get CotW but still despise the corporate clowns, what will they do? Many tournaments are debating on banning the two permanently, but could exclude those who main the characters for their unique playstyle. With how KOF XV - the most recent SNK fighting game released - had a prosperous modding scene it's pretty clear that people are going to use mods to replace them with other characters from media such as Sonic or Cinderace and such, but this route may cause copyright or other legal issues for sponsored tournaments or locals.


I'd like to do something that may satisfy both sides: I'd like to provide a free to use mod.

I'm creating original models for characters that will essentially replace Cristiano and Salvatore's appearance in the game. I haven't modelled before, so I'm learning how to do so with this project - if you have any advice on 3D modeling I'd love to hear it.

The characters I'm making for this mod will be anthro alien cats because:
A] I'm a furry, you're (probably) a furry, it's what we do.
B] With how bizarre the movesets for these two look and operate (Cristiano summons elemental soccer balls from nowhere, Salvatore has eye lasers, energy squares, and swims in the air... somehow), I think it fits aliens more than people from real-life.
C] I probably can't change the audio or lines for the characters if they refer to Cristiano or Salvatore by name, so maybe they can have the lore of the alien cats disguising themselves as the bozo brothers and the player is the only one that sees through it. It is a thing that aliens do after all.

I'm doing this not because I like Cristiano and Salvatore (I hope my dislike of them has been obvious), nor for SNK, I'm doing this for the community and my friends who've had this game be ruined because of corporate meddling. I'm doing this to, essentially, erase these two from community fun and tournaments for those who want to enjoy the game, despite and in spite of the controversy because truth be told it looks really fun.
A sort of micro-protest of Cristiano and Salvatore's roster spots by replacing them everywhere from a personal use to online and local tournaments. Of course not everyone's gonna do it, and I don't believe it'll be that well known by the time the mods do come out, but I want to pay back the community and friends that helped me and were betrayed by corporate decisions.

Hey there! It's been a bit, working on college and stuff, with one of the things I've been doing was working on a page on my website, a KOF-Furry AU page.
Basically, a page describing a furry AU of the King of Fighters series, including an art still/render of each character. Initially I intended to include a ton of characters from KOF and a few from other FGS, but I ultimately have to cut it down to just the KOF XV cast due to my site crashing due to to many images it has to load (or my PC/browser is bunk).

Either way, I think it'd be helpful to upload the art and headcanons I have made onto here too, so expect some uploads like that soon.

As always, it won't be a constant flow of daily upload or what not. I upload and create at my own pace, so keep that in mind.

Heya, it's been a bit, but I'd like to yap about what I've been doing and what's been happening.

Project Apple Pie to Anima Alter

Project Apple Pie finally has a name - Anima Alter! And after some trail and error I think I've figured out what my work flow for the project should be:
- Write summary plots
- Write scripts for the plots
- ????
- It's real now
Of course it's not as simple. The project is split into three arcs and as of writing I'm on Plot 17 of Arc 1, so this will take a verrry long time, but I hope people are eager when it does become something. But the form of that something is also a conundrum. I am a 2D digital artist, but the way I've always envisioned Anima Alter being a fighting game. Though after my attempt at that coming up short (coding frustrates me, html's easy so it gets a pass), the other way that I've imagined it being real was a sorta visual novel/cartoon thing. Or a comic if the time

Thing is, I have no clue as to how I'd make it real. Like I said I dislike coding, and I could team up with someone who does like coding but I don't know anyone who does or would want to work on a project. And even if I did, I don't have the funds to pay them for their work. So if I want to make my project real I'll have to buckle down and learn the things I need to. Like how to animate and visual novel stuff.

An Out of Nowhere Message (Affectionate)

Today on "Things I didn't expect to happen", an Agender with doe/doe pronouns fat/weight gain furry artist messages me on FurAffinity after finding a YouTube comment I made on the Ken Penders Netlore video and them presumably deep-diving into my online history to explain the ablest "beating the Autism odds" and bigoted shame my family has inflicted me with, ultimately closing with motivation and to keep finding hope and happiness in spite of my family's ways.
I didn't expect that to happen at all.

Joking aside, I received a PM from EaseMalDeg and the message was very sweet. I felt like I need to thank doe since it came to me while I've been very downer because of a variety of reasons. Some Clean-Up

Might been a downer for some, but I feel like some aspects of my FA are super outdated and I'd like to clean it up. That means I'll be deleting some old stuff and making things more organized. I hope you understand.

Fan Comic Project Cancellation

If you read this post's title, you're probably wondering why I would cancel the project. It's been something that I've been passionate about - even if I don't show it - and I've been working on it whenever I can - the latest completed draft page was page 40!

Simply put, I don't live in an environment that lets me focus on my project without worry.
That probably doesn't make sense at first, but let me explain with a story:



Back in the day I was a really big fan of Mega Man Legends - I still am btw - and it was then I developed my first everr ship: Denise Marmalade X Tron Bonne. The interactions between the two are adorable, and I feel that under different circumstances the girls could've developed feelings for each other.

So I started writing a fanfiction about it. This was my first ever fiction writing project and I enjoyed every second of it.

That is until a certain family member found out about it. From then on they kept pushing me to take the fic -as is, unfinished, with the copyrighted characters and all - publish it on Kindle and profit big time. I refused because that's a lawsuit and a half and so I kept writing, but my family member NEVER LEFT ME ALONE ABOUT IT.

They kept saying I was wasting my time and talent on something that'll likely be stolen by some schmoe for billions, when I could be making the billions myself, and a whole bunch of other demoralizing stuff.

In the end, I stopped writing because of them and my drive to do so has never come back.

And I always fear the same will happen to my comic.

While my family member hasn't found out about it, that's because I work late at night on it specifically so they don't find out. Doesn't leave me with alot of energy or focus to get much done, and it's having an affect on my health. I feel much more tired and I'm waking up too late. And waking up too late feeds into my family member berating me on how I'm lazy and not a capable person. That, plus a number of of things they go on about me makes me feel incredibly depressed and the general worsening of my mental health. The peak of which being yesterday where it came ahead and I had the worse bout of ideation since December '22.

In short, I'm not in the best place - location, health, and mental -wise - to work on this project, so for the sake of myself I am cancelling the due date and expectation.

I'm sorry if you were anticipating or wanting to see this project, but I can't work on this in my current environment. I might work on this comic in my off time. Who knows? Maybe there'll be a day where it's fully truly complete and everyone can read it. But for now, don't expect it any time soon.

Going Forward

So, with the fan comic being cancelled, what now?

Well, I'm still going to do casual art stuff like I always do but with the environment I'm in, my work is constantly being pushed in anyway possible. I have a job and my family isn't in a financial crisis, but at every turn I'm always being questioned on if my art's made some type of profit. I don't want to be useless and worthless so I'm forced to do something to actively monetize my work.

I've decided to make a Ko-Fi where you can commission and donate money to me if you want. I wouldn't have made one if not for the pressure to make money off of nearly everything I do, so here we are.

But while I plan to cancel this comic, I don't want to stop making comics period.
It was so much fun to make! It's inspired me to make my own original comic myself based on my own original characters (Audrey and them fyi).
I've learned alot from my time with the fan comic, and I want to put it to good use. I'm not gonna put a due date on it because that just spells disaster, so you'll see it when I want to show it.

In regards to my promise of completing my KOF Comic.


Now this isn't a cancellation. I've made progress on Page 5 and it's nearly done and would've been done by now.

But recently I was given work by two individuals. One that has paid me $50 to create a complex and detailed piece, the other about to pay me for two art pieces.



I can't deny art commissions due to my living situation/pressure to make profits by others. And with these commissions, I won't be able to complete my project in a two month time span.



That's why I am electing to extend my deadline to the end of June, giving myself 4 months to complete my comic.

This will be the only extension I will give myself for this project.



To motivate myself, I'm giving myself a reward and consequence.

If I succeed, I will buy myself a Ledian plushie.

If I fail, I will create a piece of NSFW art for Newgrounds and FurAffinity.



Hopefully I get my project done and that all of you enjoy the comic when it gets completed.

Hi! How's it been since... Idk, two minutes ago?

It's been fun doing art everywhere! From commissions to sketches to just full on pieces, I love all of the art I've been doing for others and myself! Plus the people and fandoms I've found and friends I've made in the process, it's been a wonderful time being an artist online.



But now, it's time for me to focus on something big: The March and April project! AKA finishing my KOF AU comic.



If you recall from other accounts of mine - Twitter and Tumblr - I was in the process of making a KOF AU comic, and even completed a prequel sketch comic to proof that I can create a comic on my own. And from there I moved onto make the first proper comic. But life and artist ADHD and such distracted me so much that I've made zero progress on the thing. The last page I released was the fourth one, and the fifth is a wip.



I don't want to leave this uncomplete, so I'm dedicating March and April 2023 to finishing the comic.

I do have commissions and personal art to take care of, but once those are done, I'll be 100% dedicated to completing this project. You may not see me post alot of art during this time, so I hope you understand why.

I think I'll still be open to commissions during these months since I do need to make some cash in the meantime.



I hope that I'll be able to meet this goal for myself, and that when the comic's complete everyone enjoys it.

So, a bit of a big update for this account of mine!

Since most of the stuff I've made art-wise isn't furry and FurAffinity is for furry art, I've been hesitant to put any of my KOF art up here. But I think that now would be a good time to make a change here.
So I'll be working on posting some of my best KOF art pieces here. And for those who love lesbian ships, boy you have something to look forward too!

Speaking of KOF art, the sketch comic! The comic I made for a little AU of mine that I'm working (slowly) on a sequel for! I wanted to post it as is as a replacement for the DeviantArt posts, and I even made a folder for it. However, I feel like if I did, it'd be massively disappointing for you all and not be a good reflection of my art skills. So I'd like to work on remastering the sketch comic before I go forward with the sequel comic. I hope you all understand.

And last up, NSFW art... oh no.
It's something I've been hesitant to both do and talk about, primarily because I don't believe I'm in a place where I can create this type of work safely and that I wouldn't do a good job at all.
But recently I've allowed myself to take NSFW commissions with an extra $20 fee. And while no one has taken the chance, it's still there. Probably because no one knows about me or cares about what I do.
Anyway, I've finally bit the bullet and made NSFW art of Leona X Ángel. It'll likely be the only one I'll do of my own free will, because I like doing SFW more, so if you want me to draw more NSFW you're gonna have to pay up!

So... Twitter huh? It's kinda going through a little bit of an apocalypse and people are making they're way to other websites.
I myself used Twitter alot because it was easy to use and everyone was there. But now since it's breaking down I'm gonna have to diversify my presence.

Obviously I've been here with my furry art, and I still intend on making furry art, mostly of my fursona or whatever furry species I wanna draw.

Currently I'm working on a KOF fan comic at the moment, and I do make alot of KOF art in general. The most not-furry FG out there.
I have posted the establishing 17 page sketch comic on DA, and right now I'm working on the 4th page of the sequel comic.
Since there's a human tag here on FA, I think it's a safe bet to post the comics here, as well as my other KOF art pieces. No harm in posting, I guess. They'll have their own folders and such for easy reading.

Now... the big thing... NSFW art. A subject that I've been thinking about.
A while ago I decided to make a Twitter poll asking if people wanted to see me make NSFW art, and for some reason it was an overwhelming yes.
Originally, I had planned on making a second Twitter account to host any NSFW art I make, but since Twitter's going down the drain I've been thinking about what to do about my plan.
My idea now is to host any NSFW art here on FurAffinity, since that type of art is allowed here and sort it into a specific folder for that type of stuff so people who don't wanna see that stuff don't have too.

All in all, I'll still be making art and thing's will be a little different posting-wise. Don't be surprised if all you see from me is nothing but KOF stuff for awhile.

Hi! It's JKflay, or JK for short.

I've been on Twitter and DA for a while and I figured that I should upload all of my furry art in a fitting place.
I want to make art and potentially a story for the Feliaetaries and Caniaetiens (and two more furry species that I'll show off later) but I'm very busy/struggle with focusing on stuff.

In the meantime, I'm thinking that I could make some Feliaetaries/Caniaetiens designs for people to buy, maybe.

I'd like to hear what other people think. What I could do with my two/four species.
