Life Update
Posted 10 years agoHey everybody, I just wanted to let you guys know what's been going on since I last had any major activity on here in September.
I started school, as I made clear, and I found as time went on, I didn't really want to be a teacher anymore. So I left the class, and was mostly out of the major.
Okay, cool... but now what?
That was the big question, for $40k a year I can't not know what I want to do. I mean I at least knew I don't want to stay at this school, but I just couldn't leave. I felt trapped, like I was stuck and I had no choice what to do now. For the past two months I've been fighting these negative feelings and trying to maintain a good academic standing and hold a job at the same time. It's impossible, don't try to do it. I've never been the "stiff upper lip" kind of guy, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I've always been about feelings, and my feelings are easily influenced by stress.
Well, as it just so happens, I was diagnosed with a mental illness. I mean, depression is something I think people roll their eyes at, but it's a serious thing. I actually have had a history of this for about 11 years now, though just now I've been really getting the help I thought I needed. Except now I've been tip-toeing towards a line that has suicide on one side, which I am unfortunately familiar with. And that's not how I plan on going out, even if I believe my life doesn't matter right now. Much like the embarrassing characters I have made, I'm a fighter.
Life, uh... finds a way.
So right now the plan is that I am leaving school. Even if I do receive therapy here I am going to be joining a more intensive program. So I'll be at home for the better part of the day, trying to self reflect and work on myself and try to work on music and art when I'm not doing that. Career choices =/= Mental health and self preservation.
I don't know how I'm supposed to feel. I feel relieved that I don't have to suffer in silence anymore, but the expectation that everybody goes to school and finishes in 4 years is somewhat over my head.
But to be clear, I haven't left. I just haven't had time. I hope I can be a little more free now, and somehow find a way to keep at least a little freedom and still find something I want to dedicate my life to.

AMA: Orchid

To help introduce the characters and who they are, I figured that we could do AMA's for the specific characters, as the general AMA didn't really gather any ground.
This week the character of choice is Orchid. The jack of all trades fighter "born" and raised for combat sports. Do you have any questions you'd like to have answered about her? Anything about the brown scaled bruiser that you are just dying to know?
You can ask either myself or her, and the answer will go accordingly. Ask away! This AMA will last the whole weekend too so don't worry if you didn't get to ask within the first 24 hours.

Woah, I really am growing!
Posted 10 years agoI just noticed today that I now have one whole gallery page worth of art. That's insane to me, honestly. The second page is mostly all the old stuff along with the earliest artworks I have done, nothing to cheer about, but I'm glad that stuff has been pushed to the back.
I also had someone unwatch me ;_; Was my breath that bad? Just kidding, I know I don't tailor to too many people's interests.
But all that aside I just wanted to say thanks for helping me grow! I really do appreciate everything you guys do for me, and I want you to know that you've at least had an impact on my life, thanks so much.
I hope you guys continue to support those you like, and keep the good vibes rolling!

I Have Overstepped My Boundaries (RP Partners Read Please!)
Posted 10 years agoArm is feeling better already, but I still have to stretch the muscles occassionally. While I'm free with it, I'm going to be up front with you all.
I'm bored of the Jurassic Ring RP. Each one has to start the same, and with 16 different species of dinosaur, it'll be a while before the action picks up across 3 different RP's. I wanted to do a more story and dialogue driven RP, but naturally my audience is here for the boxing. I need a break from going fight to fight, and that's why I'm going to do this:
For those of you who have RP'd this story with me, I'm offering you the chance to make your character the heroine in a multi-chapter story created by me, involving the same plot. If you've RP'd with me, you know I can at least write a decent story if I am motivated, and I am for this, because I need a little break from roleplaying rumbles. These dinosaurs were created for this, as a matter of fact. I just had to realize that roleplaying is not the same thing as creative writing. Creative writing is a process that requires one person to be able to craft a world with words. Roleplaying is a tool two people use that's (In my experience,) a lot less about writing something good and more about writing something fun, though if you're serious about it it's a tool for making characters too.
So then, the contest, for anyone who has participated in the RP so far (And is NOT in the RP illustration category!), Is a simple one: I need a name for the "unknown" dinosaur, which we all know by now is the Indominus Rex. I haven't thought of any good names for her, so I need the input of you. Whoever I choose gets their OC of choice to be the main character for the story, and, time forbidding, because I now have less than a month before I go back to school (And I have RP's to illustrate,) at least one illustration per chapter. The winner will also get the image of their OC standing over the I. Rex when she's revealed. And for those of you who don't get picked, you'll get a character sheet for any one of your original characters. Just like the dinosaurs.
I'm sorry I've been so indecisive with this, as it takes up your time and you were probably enjoying what I had going on, however when you have to try to create the same story 4, 5, 6 times over and your job is to hold the other person's hand through it, it gets to be not-so-fun, especially when trying to make it unique, which I have only been able to do so once because of there being a backstory within multiple RP's.
I feel guilty, but at the same time I can't keep giving you half assed attempts to just have less "N's" at the top of my page so I can go back to playing games. I'm going to give one full assed attempt, and then I'll be ready to have some fun again. Sound like a deal? :)

Going to be slow for a few days
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, just wanted to let you all know I will hardly be doing any art and hardly typing over the next few days, maybe even a week or two. I somehow got tennis elbow, which means I can't stretch my right arm without causing a ton of pain due to swelling of the tendon. Only real treatments involve ice and ibuprofen, which I'm going to down like my last name was Winehouse. Damn this human body, I can't wait to get my cyborg updates, lol.

One Month progress report!
Posted 10 years agoHey guys, thanks for your feedback on the last journal, I'll be sure to put it to good use in the future.
I'm making this journal because it's been a month and a day since I first uploaded the Orchid reference sheet, which signified my real return to art and my apparent popularity spike on FA because of it, haha. I've had a lot of growth on DevaintArt and here because of it!
I just wanted to thank each and every one of you, even if it's not personally, for your support, feedback, your RP's, trades, commissions, everything. I haven't deleted any comments, watches, or favorites since I started a month ago, and so far I've had 108 comments on my journals and artwork, 165 favorites (Not counting those people that unfaved after, they make me :() 28 new watchers (This is a big one for me, I really appreciate that!) and my inbox has literally hundreds of notes from RP's in it, that's a treasure trove of boxing stories. So far I've made $35 in commissions, and I've done 1 art trade, which is great in my eyes, I make something of value for some people, that makes me happy.
Again, I can't thank you guys enough for loving what I do, and I hope that I can keep doing this for a long time, and I can reach even higher limits.
I have only one favor to ask of you guys, I would love more feedback from you. If you like something, a picture for example, leave a comment, tell me why. If you don't like something, tell me how to make it better for you, it helps me out a ton, and by helping me I help you, haha. Give me some idea of what you want out of me!

A couple questions for you guys...
Posted 10 years agoWhile I'm working on marketing myself as an artist, I wanted to ask you guys a few simple questions to see what my fanbase (Lol I don't have one,) would like.
1.) Do you enjoy my artwork? Why? What would you like to see more of from me? What can I improve within the limitations of my skill to keep you interested?
2.) I want to put a character up for adoption, Chick P., because I don't use her and she was created for one RP. However because I put a fair amount of time into her, I wanted to ask if anybody would be interested in paying for her, something negotiable? Would anybody like me to design an OC for them? I can do that as well for a negotiable price.
3.) How would you feel about male characters? They would most likely be more feminine in nature (Ladyboys sounds so offensive, but it's a perfect description,) They would most likely be gay or bisexual, and not from the same series of characters as the dinosaurs are, as such they would take a while to release.
Please share your thoughts on these, I want input from you guys so I can make myself more accessible to a larger crowd, and therefore rake in more commissions, RP's, trades, collabs, watchers, etc. Please let me know, I want to hear from you guys!

I want to update you on the status of my commissions and RP's.
Starting today I am adding a new type of commission, for $2 I can give you a rough sketch. This means that I will basically make an image that gets drawn before doing the final lineart. It's quick, easy, and for you, cheap. Again, it's through paypal.
Prices will now go as according: $2 for sketches, $4 for line art, and $8 for colored images without a background, $10 with, all through PayPal

Posted 10 years agoHi everybody. I have exciting news! I have been asked if I do commissions a lot recently. And unfortunately I did not at the time. However I am glad to say that I do now!
This will be a learning experience for both myself and you. I will be taking no more than 2 clients for the time being until my workload shortens. Please read below before sending me a note asking for a commission,
Line art will include a black and white image of a lined out sketch, ready to color. It will be made so that if you use a paint bucket tool there will be no spills onto the canvas. These are single characters or simple action only. Backgrounds will cost extra.
Colored Images will look similar to the work I have displayed as of now in my gallery. It will be lined and colored with shading and a background if you so choose. Backgrounds will cost no extra charge unless you wish for complex backgrounds, in which case the price will change depending.
The prices for these will go as follows: $3 for line art, and $8 for colored images, all through PayPal

As far as subject matter is concerned: If it violates the rules of DevianArt, so that I cannot host the image in my gallery, I will not accept it. I will not draw excessive violence, or underage characters. I will draw anthromorph (Furry) characters, and, naturally, I will draw bare breasts, but nothing more.
Understand that I can and will deny a commission if it does not meet my requirements or if I cannot make it the way you want. Nothing against you personally, but if I can't do it I simply can't do it. This list is subject to change.
Making The Commission
If you would like to commission me, please send me a note detailing what you would like done.
I will send you a rough sketch upon it's first completion, and then we may work back and forth to see what works best for you. I will let you see how it is progressing unless I am unable to contact you. I'm working for you, so please let me know what you want and how you want it. Changing our mind with regards to details during the sketch phase is fine, but we will have to agree on the sketch before I finish the lines, after that point I won't make any changes regarding the line art. I won't expect pay until after the sketch is agreed upon.
Other Things
Time is a necessary component to making the artwork right. I am currently unemployed and on summer break, so I have plenty of it, but if it takes time to make your artwork then please understand that. For example I will be gone all next week, so please don't expect me to have your artwork instantly ready for you.
Please, please, please, please if you have references, do share them so that I can understand how you want your artwork done and can make it to better suit you.

Because I'm practicing my art skills this summer, I decided that I would take on a new project. For it I will be illustrating boxing role-plays. Basically we will RP, and I will illustrate it. Your choices are currently Orchid the Velociraptor and Galli the Gallimimus. Both are featured in my gallery.
I have a few rules as well: I will draw explicitly sexual, but not violent, images (With the exception of one user), I will do topless boxing too. I will only do boxing, and I will only do FvF or MvF. Unless you have a specific choice of venue I will be using my outdoor venue I have created on Deviantart. The images will be hosted on my DA (And for here FA) profiles, but you may share them if you want AND I'll throw in a bonus "Profile Pic" of your character.
You can either comment directly on this journal or send me a note for privacy, just give me OC details and your choice of topless or non topless, and you can choose day/night/evening for the venue. I have a Deviantart chatroom made specifically for this, so if you have a DA profile please note me over there so I may add you to the list.

Because I'm practicing my art skills this summer, I decided that I would take on a new project. For it I will be illustrating boxing role-plays. Basically we will RP, and I will illustrate it. I have a few rules as well: I will draw explicitly sexual, but not violent, images (With the exception of one user), I will do topless boxing too. I will only do boxing, and I will only do FvF or MvF. Unless you have a specific choice of venue I will be using my outdoor venue I have created on Deviantart. The images will be hosted on my DA (And for here FA) profiles, but you may share them if you want AND I'll throw in a bonus "Profile Pic" of your character.
You can either comment directly on this journal or send me a note for privacy, just give me OC details and your choice of topless or non topless, and you can choose day/night/evening for the venue. I have a Deviantart chatroom made specifically for this, so if you have a DA profile please note me over there so I may add you to the list.

Posted 11 years agoNow, ya boy here is not an active artist on this site, simply because I don't draw furry, I draw human. However, boxing is boxing, and wrestling is wrestling, doesn't matter if it's chicken, cow, human, kangaroo, whatever, as long as there's a female participant, I'm down for it, you dig?
So, if y'all are interested, I will most definitely start doing more uploads, furry or not, and I'll submit any artwork I do from now on here as well as Deviant art, however, my Deviantart page will stay for smoothskins: http://5aq.deviantart.com/
But I would like to get more involved in the community in a not weird way, and this is the golden opportunity, are we interested?

When lions, tiger, and bears didn't make the cut, they realized the animal best suited for fighting no longer existed, and so they went digging. By unlocking the Velociraptor genome, and filling in the blanks with cassowary and crocodile DNA, they made their ultimate fighter. However what she has in natural ability, she doesn't have in skill, being very new to boxing after the company went under and shut down the labs, effectively making her homeless before she started fighting in minor circuits. After a fight one day she received a recommendation to join the NSFW, confident she could make an impact, here she is.
Fighting/Tournament Experiences: Currently holds a 3-2-1 record against other FA fighters, besides that she has had three other fights, not counted on her record but were all victories.
