Which prawn scanner to get?
Posted 10 years agoIf money wasn't a limit, I'd probably get an Epson V850. The runners up would be the V800, the V600, or the V550. Resolution is 6400 x 9600 with all of those.
Canon's 9000F Mark II has a lower optical resolution than Epson's lowest end in the V-series, at 4800 x 4800.
I'm staying as far away from HP's current products as I can get. I'm selling my 8250. It's actually okay with scans, although it is starting to get increasingly incompatible with modern OSes, and is developing interior and exterior flaws with the glass surface. It has something that no modern scanners seem to have at that resolution: 4800 x 4800 scans at 8.5" x 14". It actually can do wider sizes than that, about maybe 9.5". Anyone familiar with scanning art might be aware that drawing paper can go bigger than letter size. 9" x 12" isn't that uncommon.
The common denominator with all of the above printers that I'm reading in reviews is that the bundled drivers and software have compatibility issues and a slow and clunky design (although I'm sure there might be third-party drivers and software available). I've also read that quality assurance is poor, and that most of the printers released are likely to have dust or other flaws in the interior.
The only other solution I can think of would be to photograph the art, which would mean buying a prosumer camera, a bunch of lighting and staging supplies, and at least one macro lens that could capture the art as closely as a flatbed could.
The sooner I pick one, the sooner you get to see the wonderful porn commishes I got at MFF '15.

I'll be at MFF '15
Posted 10 years agoI'm tall, thin, I'm white, 29, and a dude. I have a fauxhawk, brown hair, and will be seen wearing (not all at once) black t-shirts (mostly Valve-related), yellowish-orange shorts (unless it's too cold), a sparkly plaid greenish-blue button-up shirt, a long-sleeved screen printed green shirt with a skyline on it, I'll probably be wearing glasses, a red Bonk! Cola jacket, and a large red coat. I might try to pay someone to make a con badge for me similar to my avatar to make it easier to recognize me. I'm looking for others to ride with me from Louisville, KY to Rosemont, IL on conroomies; you can also email me. My email address is on my profile. I'm not going to be checking my FA account until I get to the hotel.
I can't wait to be around others in the fandom, I'm very excited about it since it's the first full-fledged public appearance I'll be making at a primarily furry convention. I've been to brony cons before. I hope I'll see you there! I really do love this community and most of the people in it. It has changed my life for the better, made be a better person, and been a source of hope and encouragement in hard times. <3 :3
I like physical contact unless it's weird or the toucher is ugly.
Also, I'd like to rub your nips. Everyone's.

Faves purge
Posted 10 years agoLost more than 150, I think. I wish users wouldn't delete submissions. I've thought about downloading everything I've faved--it would take several weeks; I have more than 6000 faves. It wouldn't save the comments unless I saved every webpage complete. I wish I knew who was deleting what; I'm torn between respecting their decision and decision and between art and history preservation.
Favorites management update
Posted 10 years agoRemoved about 140 favorites due to artist deletion or visibility changes. Should make for an easier browsing experience of my favorites at the cost of viewing priceless art lost to the public audience. Always open the image in a separate tab before deleting; some are false positives due to Flash thumbnail display.
Faves cleaning
Posted 12 years agoRemoved about three dozen faves that are no longer on FA. It is bad that users remove their works without re-posting them in other sections of their accounts, and worse still that FA has no system of tracking which ones were removed. I wish I had a quick way of downloading all 3903 faves to keep this from losing access to them permanently, because downloading them all individually would be a slow execution.
