Halloween - post 244
General | Posted 17 years agoWell Halloween has come and gone. Did you dress up at all? Go to a party? Sit at home and stuff your face with candy? We have a costume contest at work every year. Once again I didn't do any thing... I had planned a great costume but I failed to get all the pieces I needed. I'm not once to get all costumed up, but if I was going to I would want the costume to be perfect with lots of details. You know... make it really worth it. So next year I'll see if I can make it. Maybe I'll document the process of it since I'll have to make some pieces of it.
Anyway... I stayed at home and gave out candy to the little witches and monsters. They're so cute ^_^ It bugs me when the older kids dress up though. Most just put on a Jason mask with a hoodie and go door to door. Maybe next year I'll only do the little ones and not give candy to the older kids. Although... I don't want my house to get egged.
Damn kids.

up late - post 243
General | Posted 17 years agoGuh... am I tired...
Last night I was up until about 1am playing Mega Man ZX Advent for DS. I was trying to finish it. I failed (haven't given up though). It reminded me of past times I've stayed up playing games.
A number of years ago I found a used copy of Batman for NES and played it till 2am trying to beat the Joker. I remember I beat him when I was younger on a two day rental. How I did it before I have no idea because no matter how hard I played I just couldn't do it.
The first time I ever stayed up playing games was way back in public school when I sneaked staying up to play Mega Man 2 on a school night. It was around 3 in the morning when I finished it. Man, I was so happy. I'll never forget it or how tired I was the next day.
Fun times. ^_^
bed now...

snow - post 242
General | Posted 17 years agoIt snowed today! YAY!!!!
I love snow. Always have, always will. I think it's funny when I'm all "yay snow" and others around me complain and say they hate it.
...
Do you know what country you live in? o_O
Nope, snow doesn't bother me one bit. When I shovel it, it's a nice quite time alone, a bit of a workout and a great time to get lost in some thoughts. I love the quite that snow brings to the world. Everything becomes soft and silent. It did snow a bit early this year and it most likely won't stay, but that's okay. See, I am a bit bummed that it snowed because my kids are going to have to get super bundled up to go trick or treating. That sucks.
Oh well, you can't control the weather. My daughter will just have to be a princess going out in a snow storm or something ^_^

forgotten games - post 241
General | Posted 17 years agoHave you ever bought a game and never finished it? How about never even got around to playing it.
I have a stack of games that fit both those categories. Here's my list...
-Unfinished-
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Super Swing Golf
Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart Wii
Katamari Damacy
Shadow of the Colossus
Super Smash Bros Melee
-Unplayed-
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Super Paper Mario Wii
Killer 7
I actually picked up Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door again last week after a year of not playing it. I'm now pretty close to the end of it. I will finish my lists... one day...

toe update - post 240
General | Posted 17 years agoWent and to a clinic today about my toe. Nice lady doctor said that it isn't broken, but I do have micro tears in the tendons. I'm supposed to keep off it as much as possible as it'll probably take about 8 weeks to heal. She gave me a prescription for some anti inflammatory drugs and recommend I get an x-ray done and set me up with some places that will do it. Also, after the x-ray she said I should bandage up the toe with the one next to it and use it as a splint. That will help with the healing process.
That's pretty much it really. I'm glad it's not busted.
I'm also glad that Canada has a decent health care system. ^_^
I'll update again once the x-ray as been done.

busted - post 238
General | Posted 17 years agoMy toe that is...
The other day I was running up the stairs and I didn't lift my foot up high enough and I plowed my left big toe full tilt in to a step. Oh may god... the pain. I fell to the ground and writhed in pain for a few min and then quickly realized that it was extremely painful to put any pressure on my left foot. Waking to the living room from the kitchen was really hard to.
I've spent as much time as I can with my foot up, resting my toe. I can hobble around on it now but it's still quite painful, also, my toe is now very purple and swollen. My wife thinks I've broken my toe and suggested I go to the hospital. Although we where talking to a friend today that said the hospital won't do anything for broken toes. I've yet to look in to this statement. I probably should. Maybe tomorrow I'll go and see what happens. If it's true and I really did break it... it'll be the first bone I've ever broken.
Suck

birhtday! - post 237
General | Posted 17 years agoToday is my daughters 5th birthday. Yay! So today I only worked in the morning so that I could join my family at Boston Pizza for a birthday lunch. Normally I don't care for BP but today I enjoyed it very much. After that we all went pumpkin picking like we do every year at a local farm. The last few birthdays the farms have had corn mazes for people to run though. Both my daughter and I love mazes. I think we got lost for about 40 min. ^_^
Then we went home and ate Boston Pizza lefter overs for supper and had home made strawberry cake for dessert and presents (mostly my little pony stuff). It was a great birthday and we had lots of fun.
Tomorrow is her party with all her friends and it's being held at a local horse ranch so it should be fun. Horse rides and what not. She's very excited.
So yeah... Today was filled with birthday goodness. Yay for being 5! ^_^

random - post 236
General | Posted 17 years agoSo I've posted the first commission out of the long list that I have to do. It's of my random squirrel girl. She doesn't have a name, mostly I just call her random. ^_^ It was a great piece to do and I really loved the way it came out. It got me thinking more about this character and how she's grabbed the attention of some people. Enough for others to request more of her.
I never really intended for her to be anything more then a quick big boob pic. Although I find that even I've day dreamed more about other things that she does in her spare time. Not even sexy things ether. Just stuff, fun stuff that normal people do. I think she's probably the most interesting character I've done up in a long time.
It's a nice feeling when a character just develops it's self rather then semi forcing ideas. They feel so much more complete. I'm really enjoying my random squirrel girl. ^_^

innards - post 235
General | Posted 17 years agoEver wonder Godzilla's insides looked like? How does he produce that fire breath? Well wonder no further as these vintage scans show just that. It breaks down Godzilla and how he (she?) works on an anatomical level. But wait, there's more! Not only Godzilla but other Japanese movie monsters have been broken down as to how they're built.
What's really cool about this is that it totally takes me back to when I was young. I loved (and still love) looking at illustrated cut away diagrams. When ever I came across one I would stare at it for hours and study the workings of what ever it was, car engine, muscle structure, building skeleton, it didn't matter. So when I saw this, I was 7 years old again. Ahhh... what a great feeling ^_^

shaving - post 234
General | Posted 17 years agoGuy (and gals too I suppose when shaving legs and such) how often do you need to shave? I can go about 4 days before I need to shave again because I look like a hobo. From what I've gathered from friends, that's a long time and some have even said they only wish they could go that long with out shaving. I knew a guy in college that need to shave every damn day and by the time the day was over, you'd think he never shaved at all. He hated it. It crazy to think that if you followed him all day you would be able to watch his beard grow.
I guess it's good that I only have to shave every 4 to 5 days because I couldn't grow a beard if I tried.... and I have tried. I end up just growing some sad, pathetic sparse facial hair. I thought once that maybe if I let it go for a really long while it'll be fuller. No dice. It just got itchy and annoying and trying to shave it off was pure hell. So I don't try any more. We used to have beard growing competitions in college too. One month was what you had to get as good a beard as you could get. I never bothered because I knew it would have been pointless.
So how about you? Can you go for days with out a blade to your face or do you need to shave by mid morning?

spank it - post 233
General | Posted 17 years agoSo the DS has games where you can touch witch's boobs, learn English with sexy anime chicks, shoot milk on to a strawberry a cute anime chick is holding and raise a cute loli bear girl. What else is there?
How about bum spanking some dog-girl? Yup... you read that right. A new DS game called KimokawaE has you working with some cute animal girls from the underworld so they can live properly on earth. Example? Okay, well in once case you must discipline a dog girl because she like to pee on poles. Naughty, naughty dog girl. I've read there is even a bathing mini game to get them use to baths. HOT!
So yeah... quite possibly the strangest DS game yet. Oh, and what's the point/story behind the game?
Who cares. ^_^
More screen shots here.

dog training - post 232
General | Posted 17 years agoSo wanna know what I did this weekend? My wife and I packed up our Beagle Bernard and took a trip to Toronto to be a part of a dog training event. The 2 hour class was taught by Brad Pattison host of the show At The End Of My Leash, a show where Brad helps those with problem dogs. He's a great teacher and knows what he's doing. He has 20 years experience in training, teaching, studying dogs, wolves and coyotes. He's a non treat trainer and not only looks down on the trainers that use treats to get results, isn't afraid to tell you. In fact that's the guy in a nut shell. He's very up front about... well... everything, and I find that very respectful.
So the class went super well. We learned about keeping the dogs attention, about making sure the dog understands that the people are in charge, and most important, just learning how teach and be consistent with our dog. We already do all the tips that he shows on the show and Bernard is doing extremely well. He still has issues but now he doesn't pull on his lead where before he would literally be pulling us all over the flip'n place and nothing could get him under control. He would bark at other dogs no stop and pull like crazy and now he doesn't pull although he still makes little noises huffing noises, he doesn't bark. He also sits at the snap of our fingers.
It's very rewarding to have dog that listens and respects you. Our relationship with Bernard will only get better from here on out. My wife and I can't speak highly enough about Brad and his show. If you have a dog and need to get some training in, seriously use this guys techniques. They work, but you have to put the time in to it (like anything) and it won't happen over night, but you will get results very quickly.
He totally get's my two thumbs up.

fish - post 231
General | Posted 17 years agoThe other day one of my daughters fish passed away. We knew it was going to happen as he's been hanging around the bottom of the tank for a while now and not swimming much. Then not swimming at all. We told my daughter that Piggy Fish (that's what his/her name was... because he/she usually ate most of the food) was looking kind of sick and that he might die soon. She under stood but hoped that he/she would get better.
The day the fish passed was a hard one, she's never had to deal with the passing of anything. We later talked about death, that it's okay to die, it's okay to be sad and that every body passes someday. I bought a book a year ago or so called One More Wednesday that deals with death. It's about a little bunny boy that goes to see his Granny every Wednesday. They bake cookies and play games but then one day the bunny boy can't go to his Granny's anymore. We get to read about his questions about death and it helps make the situation a bit softer.
She asked what was going to happen to Piggy now. We told her that I was going to bury him by the gathering of trees in the front of our house. She asked if she could be there and if all her stuffed friends could be there too. I said sure. I made a small box for Piggy Fish and we decorated with stickers and drawings. She was very happy with it ^_^ We buried Piggy between two trees in our front yard and mark his/her spot with a large pink rock. She wrote Piggy Fish on it with a marker. ^_^
My daughter is doing better now. She asked if we could get another fish to keep the Scaredy Fish (that's the name of the other one) company. So now we have Big Ed the fish. She still talks about Piggy Fish and misses him but I believe this was a very healthy experience for her. It's good for her to understand these things now in her own little 5 year old way.
Yeah... that was a sad day. But if I was able to get over me losing my Pheobe Beagle, then she'll be just fine ^_^
Note: I'll be gone for the weekend so no posts until Monday ^_^

white or dark - post 230
General | Posted 17 years agoHey... I forgot to ask this question in my turkey day post. Are you a white meat or dark meat person... that is if you eat meat. I prefer dark meat. It tastes much better in my opinion and I'm the only one in the house that likes it so I get all of it Muhahahaha! Not that I don't like white meat but so many times I've had dry as a bone white meat that I'm almost fed up even trying it. Although my wife made a great white meat this year.
The secret...
Cook your bird upside down. Seriously. That way the breast meat stays in the juice at the bottom. You bird will look super ugly when you take it out finally but the meat will be so much better.
Trust me ^_^

vote - post 229
General | Posted 17 years agoSo today I voted in the Canadian election.
Looking at the US election vs the Canadian one it's crazy to see the differences. The biggest is that the Canadian elections will never be as sensational as the US ones. Our elections can be called at the drop of a hat and parties only have 36 days to campaign. There's no big count down years ahead of time. No huge build up to the final election. It's just straight and simple, go put your "X" on a card and drop it in a box.
How did I vote? Well, I find it hard to make a decision because you're voting on the parties ideals and what they hope to have changed, but chances are those changes will never come about (unless it's a majority government... boo!). But if you don't vote, then you can't say anything about what the government does. You decided not to have an opinion so when the government decides to make absurd laws, you can't say anything because you opted not to have a voice. At least you could put your vote in to another lesser party to take votes away from who you don't want to get in.
Anyway. Yeah, I rocked the vote. It's a good thing to do. It'll help to shape the country.
Looks like we're going to have another Conservative Minority government.

turkey day - post 228
General | Posted 17 years agoOkay, so yesterday was officially our Thanksgiving but I'm talking about it now. Why? Well, I always love turkey on turkey day but it's the days after when you have days and days of cold turkey sandwiches, turkey leftovers, turkey soup, mashed potato and stuffing sandwiches... and on... and on. I really don't mind all the leftovers. I still love turkey days later until it's all gone. I wish pie would last longer though. ^_^
So what all did we have? My wife made a turkey (duh!), mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, gravy, and an apple crisp for dessert. Oh yeah. I especially have to commend my wife's stuffing as it came out perfect. Stuffing sucks when it's too dry and is gross when it's too wet. Over salted stuffing isn't any better and that stove top crap can stay on the shelf. Nope, my wife makes a perfect stuffing. To bad you guys can't try some. You'll just have to take my word on it.
I can't wait for lunch tomorrow. Delicious.

splinter - post 227
General | Posted 17 years agoSo today my daughter got a splinter in her hand. It's not a horrid splinter but it is in kinda deep and so it should come out before it's infected. So there I am in the bathroom trying to get it out in the least possible way and there she is literally screaming at the top of her lungs like I'm sawing off her fingers... and I'm not even touching the splinter. I couldn't help but laugh. It's bad... I know.
Now I'm not laughing at her. I'm laughing at 1) the absurdity of the situation and 2) because I remember one time when I was a kid and I got a splinter and I told my Mom... and man, it was the last time i ever did. My Mom got tweezers out and a needle and I flipped out too, just like my daughter did to me. After that, if I ever got a splinter, I never told Mom. I just worked it out on my own. It hurt hardly ever if I did it myself.
I didn't get my daughters splinter out. This was at bath time and told her that I would try and get it out tomorrow. I'll give her the option of having me do it or let her do it.
Man, it's so funny to be on the flip side of these situations sometimes. ^_^

crap game gift - post 226
General | Posted 17 years agoI saw this question over on Kotaku and I thought it was great and wanted to post it here. ^_^
What's the worst game gift (or game related gift) you've ever got?
I've made it a habit to make sure that if someone is planning on getting me a game gift they have names of quality games. So often people that don't play games have no clue on what to buy and so they just go with the box art... bad, bad, bad. My step brother suffered this fate every birthday and Christmas with his GameBoy until I broke down and bought him Ninja Gaiden for GB.
As for me. The worst would have to be Dick Tracey for NES that my Mom bought me. Although it was a used game so at least she wasn't paying full price for it and I learned to love it. Oh, I also got Qix got GameBoy too one Christmas. Not really bad, but not great either. Gals Panic has it way over Qix I tell ya ^_^

cave story - post 225
General | Posted 17 years agoHave you heard? I'm sure you have since the news is about a week old but... Cave Story (Doukutsu Monogatari) is coming to WiiWare. If you don't know what Cave Story is, it's and indie game made by one guy that calls himself PIXEL. It took him 5 years to make and easily is the best indie game out there. No kidding. It seriously puts a lot of developed for money buy big studio games to shame in terms of charm and story. It's a really epic game too and, I would have to say, my favorite indie game.
The game is out there for free right now so anyone can try it. That means PIXEL will have to work in some new stuff for those that download the game. But best of all, this will bring to Cave Story a whole new set of players that might not have heard of the game. Just thinking that makes me happy.
Cave Story is a great game. It's a game that deserves to be played. Finally, four years after it's release, it's getting the attention that it deserves.
Go download it here if you haven't played it before.

modeling - post 224
General | Posted 17 years agoSometimes I think to myself... self, I should try and sculpt something sometime. I did some back in animation class. Just a skull and some muscle structure stuff. Nothing special. But I often wonder how I'd do if I tried to actually sculpt something, like maybe one of my pictures. That would be cool! I sometimes have my eye on my Gwen in the park pose to try out but that might be too much to start. Maybe something simple like the Cheets pose or maybe Ping.
I'm not exactly sure how to start such a project. I know in class we had to make a skeletal pose with tinfoil and then build the sculpy off of that. But I've seen others start with a wire frame too. I guess I'd have to look in to it more.
So what brought all this on? Well, I saw this clip of some one making a custom AirMan toy from a Gundam toy. It's not something I would do but it looks so cool that it brought back my desire to try some modeling. Someday when my project list isn't so heavey I think I'll give it a try.
Somthing to look forward to. ^_^

SYTYCDC - post 223
General | Posted 17 years agoI honestly can't think of anything to post about tonight... so I asked my wife for an idea. She told me to post about So You Think You Can Dance Canada. The series of SYTYCD is her favorite show and she's super excited about being able to vote for the dancers. She sitting here beside me very giddy about the whole thing.
So yeah... So You Think You Can Dance Canada is shaping up to be just as good as the American counterpart and not some watered down version.
And the costumes the ladies are wearing are hot too. ^_^

locked out - post 222
General | Posted 17 years agoLooks like the DSi will have regional lock out. Boo! One of the things that made the DS so great was that you knew you could import games and they would play with no worries. It was an awesome free for all orgy of games from every corner of the earth all on your DS. Everyone was welcome and no one was turned away. I know I love it. But those days will be over with the DSi. Yup, now everyone has to go home any play only with in their own yards. Suck.
Why is Nintendo doing this? Because of the new extended WiFi functions of the DSi they're locking it out so they can tailor the WiFi download abilities for each content. Just like they've done with the Wii. It makes sense why they're doing it, but I still don't like it and makes me kind of not want want one. Now I really have to think about this. I'm sure that with the SD slot someone will make a hack program that will allow you to play other region games. Just look at the PSP and all the hacks it has.
Hmmm... how about you? Still interested in a DSi?

motorbike vs rollerman - post 221
General | Posted 17 years agoOkay I saw this clip this morning and I thought... COOL! I can't imagine that suit being all that light or easy to control but the guy makes it look pretty easy. Testing the limits of the suit though must have been rough.
watch here
So who wins? You'll have to watch and find out. ^_^

high point low point - post 220
General | Posted 17 years agoWhat was your high point this past weekend?
One of mine was on Sunday when I spread some bread crumbs on our front lawn so my son (19 months old) and I could watch the squirrels and birds eat and play from our front window. He had lots of fun gasping and pointing at all the critters. It was so cute ^_^
Low point was when my apricot bread failed to rise. Not sure what I did to screw it up but it came out half the size it should. Oh well, it still tastes fine and the kids like it ^_^
