Food for Thought - post 319
General | Posted 17 years agoThe time has finally come. That Jo comic I was working on is done. Actually it was done a while ago and we've just been delaying the release. So yeah, it's my first ever 8 page (plus a cover page) full colour comic (18+ only... not got little eyes). It's up at The Jab Archives store for only $10. I guess this is also a good time to replug my Candy Girls folio. It's a collection of eight pin up girls all done up to represent different flavors of candy. It's all in colour and each girl comes with a write up of the design process and it's only $10 as well.
If anyone pick any of these up I would love to hear some feed back on it. Thanks and enjoy ^_^

geek hat - post 318
General | Posted 17 years agoTonight I sat down and watched Star Wars Ep III for the first time (yeah... I know...). I watched it with my brother in law and after we sat at talked geek movies. We talked about the whole Star Wars series, the books that followed (I've read a ton, he hasn't read any), what we liked and what we didn't like about Ep III. Then we traveled to other movie topics like the Alien series, the Terminator series (movie and tv) and even though in some RoboCop. It was fun and I honestly haven't done that in a long while.
So for the record... Alien 3 is my favorite of the Alien movies. Terminators 1 and 2 rock, 3 sucks (so I'm told anyway) and I liked Ep III best of the new trilogy. But it still lacks the quaintness of Ep IV, which is the best in my books. ^_^

spelunky - post 317
General | Posted 17 years agoI've been playing this little indie called Spelunky a lot recently. It's pretty simple to grasp, you hunt for treasure in caves, but it's really hard. Really... hard. Your character only get's 4 hit points (and 4 ropes and 4 bombs) and there are lots ways to lose them. Level traps, falling too far, enemies, spikes, HUGE spiders, etc... etc... I've only ever made it to level 5. Even with all this thrown at me, I still love it. Did I mention the levels are randomly generated? Yeah... that's the best part. The game is different every time you play.
Give it a try. I give it 4 out of 5 Joes ^_^

knockoffs - post 316
General | Posted 17 years agoOkay, so this is old news but still funny. I would seem that in China fake/knock off brands run the country. So much so that an entire mall is going to open with nothing but fake brands and stores. Places like Pizza Huh, Buckstar, McDnoalds and Adidos stores will sell nothing but the "best" knockoffs money can buy.
Oh China. You host the world games to gain attention on the world stage and yet when things like this make the news, people just point and laugh.
This links up with a story of when I bought some GBA games off ebay, only to find that I bought some NIntondo games instead. They played fine but I did feel cheated. Anyone else have knockoffs in their house?

balloons - post 315
General | Posted 17 years agoToday I did something I always wanted to try. I made a balloon animal. A dog to be specific. See, a while ago we went to the skating rink and they where making free balloon animals for the kids there. My daughter got one (a dog) and was super happy about it. She took it home and had fun untwisting it until it was just a long balloon again. She forgot about it and it eventually lost all it's air. Well today I found it and untied the end and blow it up again. I then found some online directions on how to make said balloon animal and PRESTO!
Apparently, I was making quite the face as I made the twists. I was really afraid of the balloon popping on me. It's sort of a fear I guess. But it didn't, even after I had to untwist it several times during the process due to not enough air and not twisting the proper sizes.
Balloon dog. Highlight of my day. Now I want to learn to make more. I'll put it on my resume.
Do you know how to make balloon animals?

accidental porn - post 314
General | Posted 17 years agoI found an archive of accidental video game porn today. It's surprising how many of these I've seen and thought the same thing ^_^
The Ring King one is classic. I totally remember seeing that at a friends house and having everyone in the room go... what the hell? o_O
Oh yeah... the site is totally safe for work. It's only your mind that makes it dirty. ^_^

fan made - post 313
General | Posted 17 years agoWho loves Mega Man? I do, but I think this guy loves him more. One MegaPhilX has gone and made a fan version of what Mega Man 10 could look like, or at least look like to him. He's even gone so far and made an opening sequence, stage select and one whole level. I'm assuming this is just a hack of a previous Mega Man title but it's still pretty impressive.
I like making fan pictures, but to be honest, I don't have the pull though to do a project quite like this. I'd be all "YEAH!" in my head but would get board pretty quickly. Anyone out there do any huge fan projects on their favorite game/anime/show or whatever?

DSi date - post 312
General | Posted 17 years agoLooks like the DSi has a (rumored) release date. It should touch down in North America on April 4th at $179. So if you're interested in it... get in line. I'm still on the fence on it really. I guess the deciding fact will be if I have a job or not.
snack swap - post 311
General | Posted 17 years agoYesterday I talked about favorite snacks. Today I let you in on what I love next to my favorite snacks. I love trying snacks that I can't get where I live and I don't mean just here in Canada, snack stuff can be different from one end of a country to the other. I want to try the snacks that people buy in the southern states, over seas and way down under. I think snacks say neat things about a culture. What they like to grab on the go, the types of flavors they prefer and what they think is a fun food to eat. To me, snack foods from around the world are super fascinating.
What I'd really love to do is to set up a snack swap program. A site where you go and trade snacks from your region with other people. It would have to be non perishable foods like chips, crackers, chocolate bars, candies and such. Maybe canned drinks... I'd have to look in to that. Maybe not even limit it to snacks but just fun food products from your neck of the woods. Yeah, this idea would be awesome!
I'd be willing to swap a Big Turk chocolate bar, a small bag of ketchup flavored chips and some Swedish Berries. Any takers? Your swap would have to include snacks I can't get at a store near me.
Yeah... Snack Swap... I like this idea.

surgery - post 309
General | Posted 17 years agoHave you ever had to go under the knife? I know someone that is going to have to go have surgery and it got me thinking... I've never had to get cut. Well... I had to have my large toenail removed when I was about 13 because I had an ingrown toenail that just kept getting worse and worse. I also had to be put out to have teeth removed when I got braces, but that's it. Nothing major... so far.
Has anyone out there had to have surgery before? Any stories to go along with the experience?

moving - post 308
General | Posted 17 years agoSo yes, my brother in law and family have moved in and yes... they know I draw smutty things, so no worries there.
One thing I forgot about when you move is that 1. it sucks and 2. you discover how much crap you actually own. Things you thought you got rid of but didn't, things you know you should get rid of but don't and things you won't get rid of but aren't sure why. I remember when we moved last and just being in awe of how much we actually owned. I a bit of a pack rat too, so that didn't help.
So how about you? Do you own boxes of stuff that still haven't been unpacked since your last move or you to keep things light? Or do you dread the though of moving because you know that hauling all your crap around wouldn't be a nightmare. ^_^

more family - post 307
General | Posted 17 years agoShort one tonight... Just helped my brother in law and family move in to my home in order to help us and them during the crappy economic times.
Good part is, I now have some one to play video games with.
Yay! ^_^
Good night.

jobless - post 306
General | Posted 17 years agoToady I packed up all my crap from work and left the studio. Suck... All the portfolio's I've put out haven't resulted in any work for myself. It would seem that no one is looking for artists right now. We had a meeting the other day and where told that the way things look and with the pitches that are out there they'll be able to start bringing people back in mid Feb. I sure hope so because right now things look pretty grim. Worst of all is that if we where still in Montreal I'd be able to find a new studio with no problems.
Suck...
I wish porn could pay my bills. On a semi related note... remember that Jo comic I was working on. If it where done who would be interested in buying a copy of it?

waffles - post 305
General | Posted 17 years agoIf you've been following along, I like to cook a bit... chocolate orange cookies (did any one try the recipe I posted?), homemade bread, orange pancakes... air popped popcorn and dutch oliebollen. But now I have a new treat to make. Waffles! Homemade waffles. My Dad and step mom bought us a waffle iron for Christmas after we ranted and raved on how good their waffle iron is, and boy do we love ours just as much.
It took a few tries to get them to come out just right but after that... oh baby. Nice toasty waffles fresh from the iron with a dollop of fresh whip cream, strawberries, blueberries, bananas and mandarin oranges can't be beat. Seriously, it's probably the best way to start the day. Maybe throw some bacon and/or sausages on the side with some eggs and OJ and you got a breakfast of champions. I'm sure it's what the gods eat every morning.
Man, now I want some waffles. ^_^ Do you have a favorite breakfast?

wii fit - post 304
General | Posted 17 years agoI think I mentioned in a previous post that my brother in law and family got Wii fit for Christmas. They've been staying with us for a while (and will be moving in too due to bad economic times) so I've gotten a pretty good chance to try it out. My verdict? It's pretty damn fun. ^_^
People say it gimmicky and others say that you really don't loose weight by doing the games but I say who cares? The little games are as fun as heck to play and the yoga and strength training exercises give you a good feeling of accomplishment when you play them. I actually did find that I was losing weight after a few days of play. So just like any real fitness training if you put in the time, you'll see results. It's not super intense, but it is fun to play. As for what I think about the balance board, I love games that make me play differently then I normally do. It sort of kicks you down a notch from where your skills normally are and you have to learn how to play games again... sort of.
So yeah, Wii Fit totally gets my thumbs up. b ^_^ d I'd recommend it to anyone.

R18! - post 303
General | Posted 17 years agoI don't read manga, but if I did it would be this one. It's called R18! and it's about a girl that goes to work at her new job... making adult video games. ^_^ Yeah baby...
- Video Game theme?.. CHECK
- Hot anime chicks?.. CHECK
- Naughty scenes in abundance?.. CHECK
I'm going to have to do a search and maybe do a download of it if it's out yet. Now I really wish I hadn't fallen off the wagon with my Japanese lessons. Poo...
Here's a little bit more of it over at Akiba Blog, nothing naughty though. Dang >_<

depressed - post 302
General | Posted 17 years agoThis is my last week of work and it doesn't look like things will be getting better. In fact, it would seem that my studio is jerking me around slightly. I've done some fake screen shots for a pitch or two with the hopes that we get one of those project. They're not big ones but if we get them (and we actually have one I'm told) they won't be keeping me on. They need a bigger project to get signed before that can happen. So I feel a bit cheated about doing fakes for projects that will help bring the studio more work when I'm just going to be let go at the end of the week anyway.
Oh, and I get no severance pay because they told me I was going to be let go one month ago. That's how they roll. I even signed the contract that said that was okay. I feel pretty stupid... and scared. No one is hiring right now.
I'll have to start giving blow jobs in the back of a van at this rate...
sigh...

iBoobs - post 301
General | Posted 17 years agoI've done a sexah post about the iPhone before, but it wasn't as cool as this one.
This is a little app where when you shake the iPhone you get virtual jiggly boobs. It not super great physics as they look a bit rubbery as they bounce around, but the idea is pretty cool. I'm sure it would keep many a guy (and some gals) staring at their iPhone for any length of time.
I am sad to say that Apple did denied this app of iBoobs. Not sure if that means you can NEVER get it but I guess it's not an official app from the Apple store. I say that Mr. Jobs need to lighten up a bit... they're just boobs. ^_^

party the night away - post 300
General | Posted 17 years agoHey! I forgot to ask what people did for New Years.
My Brother in Law and his wife and kids are down visiting us and they just got Wii Fit. It might sound kind of lame but see we're not big party people so hanging out and playing games was really fun. We didn't even watch any of the new Years shows on the TV which, I always think, are really lame.
Then we saw midnight and went to bed.
So did you go to any crazy parties and get drunk off your ass? Or did you do more low key stuff to ring in the new year?

drum tastic - post 299
General | Posted 17 years agoI don't know anything about drums or music, in fact I'm pretty much not musically talented at all in any way... but I know what I like.
This guy, I like.
Although I'm pretty much a sucker for anyone that can play video game music ^_^
This guy has more clips too so check them out. He's super damn good.
Oh, and thanks for all the awesome comments and responses to the Roxanne pic. I waned to up the spoo quality in my work and I feel that I've reached that next level... gee that sounds strange. Thanks again ^_^

It's all new again - post 298
General | Posted 17 years agoSo with the new year now here did anyone make any resolutions?
I normally don't because I think it's silly. I mean, why do I need to wait until the new year to make adjustments to my life. I'm quite capable of doing that at any time.
With that being said... I am going to start doing push ups and crunches again. The year before last I decided to do push ups and crunches for a whole year in an attempt to get a little better form. I'm not over weight, I only weigh 165 lbs, but I'd like to be a little more cut. Not much... just a bit. I made it June and was able to do 50 push ups and 50 crunches, and was getting nice shape on my stomach. But we moved and I put it all aside, so now I'm going to try again. I started last night and was able to do 20 of each. Not bad and I think a good start again. I'll let you know my progress but I'm not posting before and after pics.

sexy end of year post - post 297
General | Posted 17 years agoOkay, so I was going to post this yesterday but Tentacle Grape won out, so I think the last post of this year should bring together the things that I really like.
Video games, Japan and sexy/naughty stuff.
Which is why I'm bringing you of yet another sexy DS game. It's called Hatchi Koi and it's a dating game where you'll have the chance to woo one of 7 girls of various types (scroll down). The sporty girl, the shy mousy girl, the tough girl, the girl with big hooters and looks a little cracked out, the chubby girl... wait... what? Yes, the chubby girl. It's one of few games I've seen where you can gain the attraction of an over weight lass. I don't know about you but I personally like girls with a bit of meat on them, so to speak. Skinny chicks are fine, but I so dig my ladies to be a little bit big, which is why I find I'm draw to the chubby girl in this game ^_^
Anyway, as you progress though the game you get to talk to the ladies and play such mini games as putting lotion on their back at the beach and um... well, that's really all they're showing currently. But who cares! I'm totally sold ^_^
The game comes out sometime next spring in Japan. Damn it! We so need these games out over here! >_<
Have a Happy New Year everyone. ^_^

So how did everyone fair during the holidays? Did ya eat a whack ton of turkey? Did ya visit family? Did ya get yer stocking stuffed? Did ya get stuck in your vehicle for 3 FREAKN hours only 30 min after you started your trip because of an accident on a major hwy which was then COMPLETELY BLOCKED OFF and was detoured through some back wood towns and roads that you've never seen in your life and never want to see again with 2 children that are BOARD OUR OF THEIR SKULLS because the trip that should have taken only 3 hours total ended up to be 9 HOURS by the time you got to where you where going thanks to traffic and bad weather?
No?
I did.
Yeah... awesome... Oh, I also had to drop over a grand on my van for new breaks and tires because everything was sitting at 90% - 95% on the wear and tear meter BEFORE I even started.
Needeless to say the beginning wasn't so hot. The rest of the season was fine. Family was pleasent and friendly. My kids got waaayyy to many gifts from relatives that they never see (or know)... again. We got a lot of cash presents from family that knows about the potential job loss for myself in the new year.... Ummmm... I think that's it really.
Sigh...
Any crazy adventures from you people out there in the tubes?
