Thank you and rest in peace, Dragoneer
General | Posted a year agoAs many of you know, Dragoneer -the creator of Furaffinity- has passed away unexpectedly.
While I didn't know them personally, I wanted to take a minute to thank them for everything they did for the furry community, as well as what this site means to me.
I found Furaffinity (while searching for fanart of a furry character) and it quickly became much more than just a place to find fanart. My novel-in-progress was just a few chapters in at the time, and here I found many kind and talented artists selling adopts and taking commissions that expanded my cast and my story beyond a humble novel to a planned series of novels. I never dreamed I could have such a passion project to work on and enjoy, and it wouldn't have happened had it not been for the site Dragoneer created.
From the bottom of my heart I thank Dragoneer, and I hope he has found peace in whatever awaits us after this life.

Writing update! 100+ characters adopted???
General | Posted 3 years agoHello again! It's been a while since I did an update on how things are going... š
As for novel #1, I finally finished the big emotional climax of the story. Six months of work for 3 large chapters, with many suggestions from my editor that have made it really spectacular. Next is wrapping up loose ends, the final fight, and cleaning up the mess of a war-torn world. Maybe 5-7 chapters in total. Hopefully draft 1 will be done in under a year...
Here on FA I've adopted over 100 characters šµ in the past ten months... Not everyone has a name, but most of the roles have been figured out. Even though only 6-8 will make it into the very end of novel #1 working with these characters has given me a better view of the overall world they inhabit. Once draft #1 is finished I now have a list of changes that will make it fit better with the sequels! (Tolkien revised later editions of "The Hobbit" after writing LOTR because some things didn't work, like the Bilbo / Gollum ring scene. Wikipedia it.)
Also, I'm thinking about making a second account once the publishing process begins. I'll keep this one for doing favorites and commissioning artists, but the second would be where I post my adopted characters that appear in the novels under my pen name.

Happy New Year!
General | Posted 4 years agoHappy new year!
Despite the worldwide mess that 2021 was, l had a wonderful time here on FA! After joining in February I've found amazing artists and commissioned awesome fanart. But most importantly, I've adopted (and in some cases commissioned) an amazing cast of characters for my novels!
Thank you to all the artists whom I've adopted from and worked with in the past year. I look at your creations and see such personality in them that will breathe life into my tale!
Thanks again, take care, and may 2022 be a good one! šŗšŗšŗ

Adopts and novel FAQ
General | Posted 4 years agoHello there! Iāve been adopting a lot of characters lately and thought Iād put together a quick FAQ to explain what Iām doing with them. If Iāve adopted from you, Iāve probably sent you here to explain things a little better. If you happened across this on your own, I hope you enjoy hearing about my little project!
1) Whatās this novel you keep talking about?
Around the end of 2018 I had a fanfiction idea that I wrote into a short story. After I finished I considered putting it up on a website, but I wasnāt happy with the ending. The characters and plot from the series didnāt work well with my new material -I was trying to shoehorn something in that didnāt belong. After chatting with my best friend (and de-facto editor) I decided to remove the series characters, change the setting, and create my own backstory and plot. In short, I ditched everything from the existing series and started from scratch! :p
As of right now Iām about 85% finished the first draft, with a list of improvements for the second draft. I am not a writer by trade ā I have a ā9 to 5ā job paying the bills and taking up my time. This novel is just a little project to do in my spare time, thus why itās taking so long.
2) And how do adopted furry characters fit into this?
Like I said, the first book is nearly complete, featuring only the characters I came up with. However, the premise leaves abundant room for sequels! I already have 2 sequels planned with outlines started. Without giving away too much plot I can say that we visit a different world after the events of the first novel, and the people of this world are in a unique position to choose their appearance. A world of furries, where unique color patterns and combinations of physical features are the norm! Unhappy as a cat with horns? Why not try being a fox with a blue lightning bolt pattern in your fur for a while?
My world, my rules, so why not fill it with furries? :3
3) I sold you an adopt / I drew a character reference for you, yet I donāt see it posted anywhere⦠Where are they? Donāt you like them? I put a lot of love and hard work into them!
I adore all the characters Iāve adopted! Donāt worry, all characters I adopt will appear in my books. After posting the first few characters Iāve decided to hold off on the rest until the first book is published and I start work on the second, where everyone is going to appear.
4) What about credits for the designers? Character rights?
Iāve made sure to secure the rights for each and every character I adopt/ commission. Every artist will be credited in the novels their character appears in, even if that character doesnāt appear on the cover art. What would be really awesome is if my books are popular enough that I could publish an art book, featuring all the ref sheets for these characters!
Well thatās all I can think of at the moment. Thanks for reading through this! And a special thanks to the artists Iāve purchased characters from! Having reference sheets to look at helps in breathing life and personality into the characters populating the worlds I create! :3
