Cars 3 - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoI was never a huge fan of the Cars franchise. The first Cars movie I thought was an decent, yet enjoyable movie. It's those types of movies that you need to rewatch them enough times to get what they are trying to tell. The best parts were the racing parts. The rest, however, was meh. Cars 2 on the other hand, was a huge misstep not only for the franchise, but for Pixar itself. They changed the format from racing in general to a spy movie and only have Mater as the main focus. I can understand they want to go different, but it didn't pay off. It was pretty much the studio heads at Disney that wanted them to make a sequel and only feature Mater because young kids love the character and only need to sell more toys. The Planes movies were pretty much the same thing. As a matter of fact, that's the only reason there was a franchise. Just to sell toys. Next to the princess line-up, Cars is one of the most sellable items in Disney merchandising.
And now we have Cars 3. Another sequel to a Pixar movie that nobody was asking for. But, after the well received criticisms from Finding Dory, maybe Cars 3 could be another surprise.
It's not. It's not bad. Not at all. It's actually quite good. Not on a great level like Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Up, and Inside Out. But, on the same level as the first Cars movie. It went back to what the original was all about. Racing. Which is what Cars 2 was original going to be, but was put aside for a Mater movie. It's pretty much a typical sports movie about an athletes that's been around for several years and now finds himself as the crosshairs of whether or not to retire when a group of next generation athletes come in. And it was told pretty well. I was glued in to wee where the story is going. Course, the kids younger than 8 wasn't exactly paying attention to the flick and rather talk to either each other or to their parents. The adults, though, were trying to pay attention to the movie as well. The kids did paid attention the most during the first and third acts, but the second act. They were bored. The third act, though, was something I didn't see coming. But, it felt like I should considering Hollywood is undergoing their own progressive movement that they've been doing in the last few years. If you seen the movie and watched the third act. You would know what I'm talking about.
Overall, not a great movie, but decent enough to watch. Better than Cars 2 and the Planes movies, but just as decent as Cars 1. If you're a Cars fan, you would still like it no matter what. If you're a Pixar fan, you would think it's decent. Anyone else, make up your own opinions.

The new revised DuckTales theme song
General | Posted 8 years agoThe newly revised theme song is pretty good. Does have the same beat, but I don't think it'll ever be compared the old classic.
What do you guys think of the new revised theme song?
The Mummy (2017) - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoI've never seen the original 1932 film, so I can't really say how the remakes take up to it. I really should see it. Though, I really love 1999's The Mummy. It's a really fun adventure movie with some hints of horror. It's almost like an Indiana Jones movie. Except instead of Indiana Jones, it had Brandon Frasier. I wonder why Brandon Frasier never did more of those kinds of movies. So, I was hoping 2017's The Mummy will entertain me as much as the last one did.
Universal has been trying to bring back their monster universe for many years now. They tried it with I, Frankenstein first. That obviously failed. Then, they tried it again with Dracula Untold and that failed as well. So, will it be third times a charm with The Mummy (2017)?
Yes and no.
It wasn't a terrible movie. I enjoyed it. But, it wasn't great. I think it set up the monster universe pretty well. Granted they put all their eggs in the basket this time, but not as much as others did. I thought it set up pretty well in the end. Course, we have to see how they will try it in their next movie which will be Bride of Frankenstein. Ugh. Anyways, I don't know why so many critics were giving crap on this movie. It wasn't overly terrible and the pacing was pretty good. Though, it does have a few issues and I can understand why they didn't like it. But, I don't this movie deserves the panning. I'm hoping their Dark Universe will do well and I can't wait to see the next one they'll do.
Overall, not a great movie, but an entertaining one. And definitely not terrible.

Wonder Woman - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoIf I have to be honest, I was never a huge fan of Wonder Woman. Not because she's a female superhero. Not at all. Just don't know much about her. I guess growing up, I was always more interested in Superman and Batman than Wonder Woman. I do feel bad about that because my peak about her didn't catch up until I saw her in the Justice League cartoon and that's when my interest in her grew. And when I heard there will be a Wonder Woman movie, I was excited. Because it's a superhero I wanted to learn more and hopefully become a fan of hers. Just like I was with Superman and Batman.
And after seeing this movie. You can bet that Wonder Woman just gained a bone fide fan. I really enjoyed this movie. It has everything you need. It has action scenes that were needed, tragic scenes when needed, when it needed to be funny, and when it needed to be heroic. I think Warner Brothers learned from their mistakes and put it in this movie. Granted, this movie is a typical superhero origin story, but it's an origin story done right. Definitely worth seeing again.
Finally, we have a GOOD female superhero movie. There had been other solo female superhero movies before and all been terrible. Electra, which was a spin-off from Daredevil, was a very lazily written movie that didn't capture who she is. Catwoman was a badly directed film with bad acting choices. So, it is refreshing to see a female superhero movie done right. :)
I recommend seeing this movie. If you're a DC fan, superhero fan, or a fan of movies in general. Go see this one. And see it in IMAX if you can afford it. It's worth it. :)

Baywatch - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoI was kind of a fan of the show back in the 90's. Especially when I hit puberty. :P Anyways, the show was very cheesy and it has episodes that didn't make sense or has anything to do with lifeguarding, but the show did has its appeal. And when I heard they're making a movie on it and doing it in style of the Jump Street movies. I wasn't so sure. But, they casted Dwayne The Rock Johnson and this man could do no wrong. He even makes some of the bad movies enjoyable because he's in it.
But, here's a thing. Just because of what made the Jump Street movies successful, doesn't mean it'll transfer well in other movies. Chips was the example of that. And when I heard Chips was terrible, I was getting worries about the Baywatch movie. I didn't see Chips due to hearing on how bad it was, but perhaps I should watch it just to see why it's bad.
Anyways, the Baywatch movie itself, isn't quite so bad. It's not good, but it didn't suck. The first half was pretty good, but when it got to the second half. That's when it all went downhill. It has the same problems most comedy movies have now in days. The jokes drag too long, it's too winky, and some of the scenes were very much overthetop. Really testing the R rating that they put in this movie. Not to mention that the audience doesn't seem to be too into the movie as well. The older members were too busy looking at their phones than the big screen, the 20 somethings were too busy talking to each other, and the teenagers who snuck in were too busy laughing at their own jokes than the jokes from the movie itself. I think that clearly shows why the movie is not good.
Even though I think the 17% on Rotten Tomatoes is a bit farfetched, but I can see why the critics gave it that. It's not a terrible movie, but it's not a good one either. I think this movie will be enjoyable if you had a few beers in you.

Pirates of the Carribbean 5 - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoBefore I talk about the 5th movie of the franchise, I'll talk about what I think of the franchise as a whole. I really like the first three, but the fourth I felt was a huge misstep.
When Disney announced more than a decade ago they're making a pirate movie and it's based on one of their most treasured attractions in their theme parks. I thought it was a good idea. They could play around with it and there's no way they could mess up a pirate movie. Of course, pirate movies were notoriously box office bombs. There was a reason why Hollywood hasn't made so many of them. The last one was Cutthroat Island back in the mid-1990's and even though I actually enjoyed that movie, it was a huge flop. When Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl came out in the summer of 2003, I was just blown away. I went to see it almost five times at that summer. Was utterly surprised on how good it was. When Dead Man's Chest came out a few years later, I wasn't so sure about it. And then I was wrong. I liked it just as much as the first one. Then At World's End came out a year later and I liked it just as much. Thought it was a great way to end a good trilogy. But then there was At Stranger Tides and that's when they took a huge misstep. So, when the fifth was announced, I was also worried, but hoping that it'll be better than the last one.
And Dead Men tell no Tales is......slightly better than the last one. Which isn't saying much. I did enjoyed some of the moments, but I was distracted on some of the continuity errors it has in it. I felt the franchise has lost it's flavor that made the franchise so great in the first place and this one shows it. It's clear Disney doesn't know what else to do with the franchise anymore. It's pretty much the same type of formula that made the first three so successful. But, since they made so much money, Disney thought that's the only way to keep the franchise going. If this one will make enough money during its run and they decide to make a sixth one. I just hope they'll do something different with it.
Overall, if you're a fan of the Pirates franchise, you'll find this ok.

Alien: Covenant - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoI've been a fan of the Alien franchise for a long time. I might even consider I like the Alien movies more than the Predator movies. Alien is a true horror classic and Aliens is what many consider one of the greatest action movies of all time. Alien 3 was a bit of a misstep, but it had an excellent premise. Alien: Resurrection however, almost killed the franchise all together. And then we got the AVP movies. *shrugs* And I was disappointed in Prometheus. It had more questions than answers and the "scientists" in the movie were dumb. So, I was hoping Alien: Covenant would help rekindle the franchise.
And I think it did. In a way. It felt like more the original Alien movie than it's own. It followed the same way the original did, but it has some differences. Although, it finally gave us answers Prometheus tried to do. And hoping that if there'll be another sequel, I would love to see more of what they could do.
Overall, if you're an Alien fan. You would enjoy this movie since it'll remind you of the original.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoI've always been a huge fan of the King Arthur legend. I've had a book on it that I've read a lot as a kid and I'm also fans of First Knight, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Sword in the Stone as well as the Merlin miniseries. I also read the T.H. White's book The Once and Future King as well as The Book of Merlyn during high school. So, you can tell I'm a fan of the King Arthur legend and if there's a movie about it. I'm watching it. So, when I saw the trailers for this movie. I wasn't excited about it, but still intrigued because it's about King Arthur, so why not?
And then I saw the movie. And it's not even good. It's ok with some parts, but overall. Not a good movie. The editing was all over the place. Sometimes I can barely tell what's happening. And it collides with the tone a lot during the whole thing. The effects, though, was pretty good and I do like the score. But, the acting isn't actually good. I don't think any of the actors were having fun during the making.
So, I don't think I would recommend this movie to any of the fans of the King Arthur legend. Maybe to people who would watch it out of boredom.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoI just got a sneak peak of the movie itself today. It was free at a naval air station and was able to get in. It was pretty crowded, but did managed to get a seat.
Now, before I move with the review, here are my thoughts on the first one. The first one has been my #1 favorite Marvel movie for the past few years. I wasn't sure about the movie when I first saw the trailers since I never heard of the characters nor the actual comic books of the Guardians of the Galaxy. So, wasn't sure what to think of it. When I saw it, I was blown away on how much I really enjoyed it. It was almost like Star Wars, only a Marvel version of it. It was a space adventure movie everybody has been wanting for a long time. It was the movie that showed up at the right place at the right time. It filled that void we've been longing for almost over a decade. And when they are going to do a sequel of it. I was ultra excited about it. Can't wait to see what other adventures these misfits would run into.
And then I saw Vol. 2. And it did not disappoint me. I really enjoyed it. It's just a great as the first one. With many funny one liners, great character moments, and great writing as well. I think I should agree with one critic who compared the movies with the two other space franchises. The first one felt more of a Star Wars movie while the other feels more like a Star Trek movie. With going to new worlds and learning about them. And the villain in this movie. Wow. Truly terrifying. I won't spoil it on what happened and who is it, but I will tell you this. To the people who criticize the Marvel movies for having weak or bad villains. They should watch this movie because they would NOT be disappointed. I guarantee it. ;)
I have to nitpick though and it's a very small one. Sometimes I felt like they put in a little too much comedy in the sequel. Even though the first one does have comedy in it, this one felt they put in a lot more in it. Like, someone in the higher ups said, "People loved Guardians Vol. 1 so much because it's funny. So, if we put in more comedy in the sequel, they'll love it even more." Some of the jokes were pretty funny and well placed, but I felt like I was being feared that it might go the Ghostbusters remake rout. Where they'll put the jokes in even the most serious of scenes just to get a few laughs. Glad they didn't go that route for the most part.
Anyways, aside from the comedy angle. This movie was very much enjoyable. It's not better than the first one, but it's just as good. I'm willing to see it for a second time. Or even a third time. It's that much enjoyable. And stay during the end credits. There's five of them. You won't be disappointed in any of them. Promise. ;)

Another furry convention closes their doors (RMFC)
General | Posted 8 years agohttps://www.flayrah.com/6903/rocky-.....irregularities
Welp. Another one bites the dust. This time it's the Rocky Mountain Furry Convention.
That makes it like..what....four in the last three years. What the hell is going on?
At least this one is closing their doors this year. Not sure if they'll come back next year, but from what I read. Doesn't look it.
Now I'm starting to worry. I hadn't been to a convention in 4 years and if I don't go to a convention soon. There might be none left to go to. :/

The Lion King remake cast accouncemtn so far....
General | Posted 8 years agoHere's the scoop so far on The Lion King remake. It's pretty much like the cast announcement they did for Beauty & The Beast remake a couple years ago. Only this time it's a bit ridiculous.
So far this is what the cast is:
Donald Glover as Simba (possibly adult)
James Earl Jones as Mufasa
Beyoncé as Nala (possibly adult)
The first two have been confirmed, but could change. The last one had just came up today and it's not yet totally confirmed. They are still in the talks on that. They still haven't casted the rest just yet. No Zazu, the hyenas, Timon, Pumbaa, or even Scar.
Here are my thoughts on this. First, Disney should stop calling this a "live-action" remake. Just call it a animated remake because let's face it. There's no way it'll be live action unless you can actually get real live animals to do the part and that'll be a PR nightmare. Especially with PETA on their backs the entire time.
Second, I don't think James Earl Jones should reprise the role. I mean sure, his voice is iconic in so many ways. But, it's a remake and having the original voice is going to confuse the newer audience who has never or yet to see the animated classic.
Third, I think casting Beyoncé as Nala is a bad idea. I mean, if she's going to provide the singing voice (if they are going for the musical route), then yes. If she's going to sing Can You Feel the Love Tonight as part of the soundtrack and during the End Credits, sure. But, as the actual voice. No. Why? Because she did a voice over job before and she wasn't good at all. She was the voice of a fairy queen from the Blue Sky animated movie Epic and the entire time her voice came up. It sounded so monotone that it made her character look bad. It was obvious at the time that she was just put there as a way to get butts in seats.
Now, I think this is what the cast should be if they really want people to come on board.
Keep Donald Glover as Simba. I think he'll do fine.
Replace James Earl Jones with Idris Elba as Mufasa. He has done great work as voice overs for many characters for Disney. He was a great Shere Khan in The Jungle Book remake.
Emma Stone as Nala. I think her voice would fit the character very well.
Sacha Baren Cohen as Rafiki. He has done great voice work before and is very animated in real life. He could pull it off.
Key and Peel as Timon and Pumbaa. Both have great comedy chemistry together and can bring the duo to life.
Robert Downy Jr. as Zazu. He can do a snobby British accent. He did it very well in the Sherlock Holmes movies.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Scar. He can do an evil intimidating voice. He was great as Smaug in The Hobbit movies.
Tajira B. Henson as Shenzi. Her Cookie attitude like voice would be perfect for the role.
Seth Rogen as Banzai. His laughter life voice is already hyena like.
Alan Tudlyk as Ed. He voiced a chicken in Moana so why not just provide laughs for Ed.
What do you think of this? What are your opinions? And who do you think the cast should be?
Power Rangers (2017) - review
General | Posted 8 years agoI wasn't exactly a huge fan of the Power Rangers as a kid. I was more of a Ninja Turtles fan anyways. But, I did enjoyed watching it when I was a kid. I was just about the right age when they first showed up. Five people dressed in cool costumes fighting against monsters and giant dinosaur robots fighting against giant monsters. What male kid wouldn't enjoy watching that? Course, I only liked the first two seasons of it. When they started changing actors around and then having other spin off shows, I start to watch them less. I did enjoyed the first movie they did back then. It was cheesy, but fun.
But, after looking back at the episodes. They don't hold up well at all. You can tell the show was cheap and the cheesiness wouldn't last one season if it was released today. Though, it is nice to look back at a time when Power Rangers were once the most popular thing back then.
That being said, the newest movie of them just released today. And after watching this one. It is a nice upgrade. I can tell that this show would've been just like the movie if it had a higher budget. I really enjoyed this movie. There are some pacing issues and it dragged in a couple areas, but overall. It was enjoyable. Especially at the third act when they finally morph and brought out the Zords. It was a huge blast of nostalgia. Back when the Power Rangers were once the coolest things to ever like.
If you were ever a fan of the Power Rangers. You would enjoy it. If you weren't, you would like it as well. Maybe not as much, but just be glad you don't have to know the entire mythos in order to get it.

Beauty & The Beast (2017) - review
General | Posted 8 years agoBefore I get the review itself, I'll talk about what I think of the animated original. The animated version is one of my most favorite Disney animated films of all time and one of my personal favorite animated films of all time. There's a reason it's regarded as a classic. It's got great songs, a great score, memorable characters, and a tale as old as time. :) I remember seeing it for the first time when it came out in theaters. I was around 8 when it came out. I immediately fell in love with it. I remember when they use to show it during classes. The entire class would sing along with the songs. It still holds up to this day and is the first ever animated film ever to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.
When I first heard they are doing a live action remake of the film. I thought, eh why not. I can actually see it work as a live action movie. And ever since I saw The Jungle Book remake, I had total faith that the Beauty & The Beast remake would do quite as well if not better.
After just seeing it today after spending an hour or more tying to find a non-sold out theater. No kidding. Here are my thoughts.
It's pretty good. Not as great as The Jungle Book, but good. I enjoyed it. They added more stuff in there as to be expected, but throughout it's a beat by beat remake. With songs and all. They added a couple more songs in it. I was hoping they add a couple from the Broadway Musical, but oh well. Some of it worked, but the added extra did explained more what the animated version left off. If I have to say it, I say both are pretty much equal as far as quality in the films. The characters are great, except with a few exceptions. Emma did a fantastic job as Belle. All the others did their very best with the characters they played. And the singing is quite good. The visual effects were excellent as that's to be expected, too.
Now, for the controversial part. LeFou being gay. I felt that's really not needed in any form. I mean, if they cut out LeFou being gay it wouldn't change a thing in the entire movie. Though, it didn't really bother me at all throughout the movie. It didn't detract the entire story at all, which I am very grateful for it.
If I have to choose which is the better movie. I have to give it some more thought because both are equally great in their own way. The animated classic still holds a special place in my heart, but I think I'll grow to like the live action version just as much.
If you love the original animated classic, you'll like the live action remake just as much. ;)

2 the Ranting Gryphon vs. Anthrocon
General | Posted 8 years agoHere we go again. Another furry drama all over twitter.
This is what I've read, heard, and learned so far. About a day ago, Anthrocon told 2 that he won't be having his stand-up show this year as scheduled. They haven't given a reason why. Some speculate that it was probably because he defended a guy's right of free speech which happens to be a Nazi-sympathizer and also said some things that happened during the Inauguration. This is his statement:
When the news broke out from 2 himself. Once again, furries went up in arms about this. A lot of them were saying that they won't go to Anthrocon because of that. And some say that they should go and protest and even disrupt the convention. This is getting ridiculous even by furry standards. Just because he won't have his show this year, doesn't mean Anthrocon would suck. There are plenty of things to do while there. Like Pittsburg itself, Kage's Story Hour, the dance competitions, Dealer's Den, Artist Alley, the fursuit parade, and meeting the Guests of Honor. I hadn't been to Anthrocon since 2012, but I do know that I didn't come there just for 2's stand up. I come there to see the fursuits, fursuit around, hang with friends, meet new friends, buy stuff at the Dealer's Den, and what Pittsburg has to offer.
This whole thing is ridiculous. But, I can't really have an opinion on this. Anthrocon has of yet made a statement about this. So, I think we all should just cool our heads and don't give an opinion until we hear something from them.

Kong: Skull Island - movie review
General | Posted 8 years agoIf you like Godzilla (2014), you would like this movie.
This movie is fantastic. As far as giant monster movies go. It does need work on the characters and the writing, but if you just want to see giant monsters fight. Then see this movie.
And stay for the end of the credits. Your mind will be blown. ;)

Logan - movie review
General | Posted 9 years agoI've never been a big fan of the X-Men movies in the last decade and a half. Not that they are bad. I do enjoy them. It's just that I want the movies to be more like the comics. But, that's they way the studio heads wanted.
But here comes this movie. Logan. And my god I really enjoyed this movie. This is the Wolverine movie I wanted to see. It should've been rated R in the first place. Wolverine deserves this kind of movie. It was the most dark and grounded superhero movie I had ever seen. I would love to see this movie again.
If you're an X-Men fan or a Wolverine fan. This movie is for you.

RainFurrest closing their doors for good
General | Posted 9 years agohttps://www.rainfurrest.org/2017/
Yep. It's official. Another furry convention forever closing their doors. I haven't been to it, but heard some good things about it. Wanted to go there one day.
Don't know why they decided to end it, but from what I heard. It's because in the recent two years, many of the bondage, babyfur, and other fetish people decided to crash the convention and make it seem like it's nothing more than a fetish convention. And that's probably why the hotel wouldn't want to resigned them again and no other hotel in the area wanted them as well.
Too bad really. I think that's the same thing happened to one furry convention in California. Called Convergence or something other. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anyways, still plenty of other conventions to go to. I hadn't been to one in the last four years. I really need to find a way to get back in the groove.

A look at the DuckTales reboot
General | Posted 9 years agoDoesn't look too bad. Not sure on McDuck's voice. Alan Young will always be the voice of Scrooge McDuck, but the tone and the animation does look pretty good. And also not sure on the nephews voices either, but once I see a few episodes. I might get accustomed to it. What do you guys think?
Bill Paxton died today at the age of 61
General | Posted 9 years agoYep. Just read about it today through my news feed on Facebook. Another movie icon of my generation has passed away.
I loved him in all the movies he was in. Twister was my favorite disaster movie of all time. Loved him in the small role he had in Aliens. Funny in Weird Science. And memorable in Titanic and Apollo 13. He was in five of my most favorite movies of all time.
May he always be remembered.

Rock Dog - movie review
General | Posted 9 years agoRock Dog is the latest animated movie that features anthropomorphic animals. Made by small studios from the oriental region. It's about a young dog name Bodi who wants to become a musician rather than be a guard dog to protect the village full of sheep. Hijinks ensued as young Bodi travels to the city to become a rock musician. While tying to get himself a band and being taught by the feline rock legend Angus Scattergood. Meanwhile, wolves try to find a way to get to the sheep village.
Pretty straight forward. The story is not that great. It's passable for an animated family movie, but there's not much else there. Got some good music, but not that memorable. Except for the one during the ending. The characters are pretty forgettable except for one or two, but not much else there either.
The animation however is pretty good for a studio's first animated movie. It's pretty colorful in some of the scenes and I did like the beginning when they did hand-drawn, but when they change it to CGI. That's when it becomes just average. The designs weren't phenomenal, but I've seen worse. The voice acting was pretty good. They got talented actors that fit each one. The one I'm having trouble with is Luke Wilson as Bodi. Wasn't sure if he's suppose to be a teenager or a young grown adult. It's hard to put it.
Overall, a mediocre animated movie that will make kids happy for 90 minutes, but the adults will just shrug it off. Won't become a classic down the road. Better off to see it as either an early matinee or when it comes available for rental via RedBox or digital.

The Lego Batman Movie - review
General | Posted 9 years agoDon't see why they made a Lego Batman movie instead of just Lego Movie 2, but I guess the Batman character did stole the show from the first movie. So, makes sense. Anyways, this movie was a lot of fun. It's pretty much a parody of the Batman character along with themes and tropes. And it has a lot of references towards Batman throughout the years. And I mean a ton of references. So much, can't keep track of them all. I might have to watch it again in order to see them all. Though, the themes kept hitting me on the head a lot. Guess they need to for the little kids to get it.
Overall, it's a very enjoyable movie. Kids will love it and the adults will get a kick out of the many references in it.

My top 10 favorite and disappointing movies of 2016
General | Posted 9 years agoIt's no secret that I love to watch movies and I've seen a lot of them this year. Though, not as much as I use to due to pricing and schedules. Not to mention availability of certain movies. But, I say this has been a mixed year for movies. But, I've seen many good ones and glad I didn't see any bad ones, but I've seen plenty of disappointing ones. So, instead of doing two separate lists, I'm putting both in one journal. So, here's my lists.
Top 10 Favorite Movies of 2016:
10. Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them: A spin-off movie of the classic Harry Potter franchise. A side story that has many people thinking of whether or not this movie will stand on it's own or even be good. And this movie was good. The story has some pacing issues, but it was very much enjoyable. The designs of the beasts were magnificent and it expands the wizarding world a lot more than the Harry Potter movies have ever done.
9. Suicide Squad: This movie has gotten a lot of divided opinions on this movie. Some hated it, some liked it. And I liked it. It does have a lot of problems sure, but I had a blast watching this movie. It's nice to see fun Will Smith in a blockbuster movie instead of him trying to get an Oscar. And I like all of the characters except for a couple, but I would love to see them again in future DC movies.
8. Star Trek: Beyond: This is a Star Trek movie that felt more of a Star Trek movie than most did. Like it's a two hour long episode of a Star Trek series. And that's a good thing. Surprised this didn't get as much numbers in the box office as its predecessors did, but I still hope they'll make a fourth one soon.
7. The Magnificent Seven: I had recently watched the original and after comparing the two. I had more fun with the remake than the original. I had a lot of fun watching this flick. I want to see more westerns like this.
6. The Jungle Book: I wasn't too sure on this one when I heard they were doing a live action remake of the cartoon. Then I saw it and was blown away. This rekindled my faith in live action remakes and I hope they'll continue this lucky trend in their next one.
5. Deepwater Horizon: Probably the best disaster movie I've seen since Unstoppable or even The Day After Tomorrow. This movie makes you understand on why the BP Gulf Oil Spill happened not too long ago and makes you appreciate the types of workers who risk their lives for the substance.
4. Finding Dory: This was a year filled with unnecessary sequels. And Finding Dory was one of them. There was no reason for a sequel to Finding Nemo and felt like Pixar was becoming like DreamWorks. But then I saw it and immediately feel in love with it. It had all the feels and touches the subjects on disabilities pretty well. Not very preachy about it and very subtle, too.
3. Rogue One: I wasn't too keen on spin-off movies for Star Wars. That's what the expanded universe was for. But then I saw it and I just very much enjoyed it. Especially the third act. It was the best sci-fi battle scene I've seen since Return of the Jedi.
2. Captain America: Civil War: Best Marvel movie to date. A lot of people said it was Deadpool that saved the superhero genre. I say it was Civil War that saved Marvel and help keep the franchise alive. It could've been a disaster with all the characters in one movie, but they pulled it off. And that airport scene, Beautiful.
1. Zootopia: I'm sure many people will say it's biased because I'm a furry, but that's not true. I can't think of a single movie I've seen all year that's better than this one. I hadn't seen many others that got more praises, but this movie is my most favorite. Not only does it have a good story and great animation, but relatable characters and themes that are just as deep as any other features. This is my most favorite of the year.
Top 10 Most Disappointing Movies of 2016 (These movies I don't hate, but more disappointed in them. Like I can tell they can be good, but was wasted by either story or directing.)
10. Money Monster: This movie could easily satire on the media, social media, and today's victims of economic failures, but is overly saturated by cheap editing tricks that made it not enjoyable.
9. X-Men: Apocalypse: I had high hopes for this movie to be good because it features one of my most favorite comic book villains of all time, Apocalypse. But, it's filled with poor choices in directing and filled with actors who just don't give a damn.
8. Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice: This movie could've made it or break it with the DC Cinematic Universe, but what it did was missed opportunity. Now, I didn't hate this movie. I enjoyed many of it's parts, but the one thing they did in this movie earned it's spot on this list. I really wish they didn't, but we'll have to wait and see.
7. The BFG: This movie would've been the most magical movie of the summer, but instead it was meh. It was magical by many means, but the story wasn't just very exciting enough. Now I know why not many people have heard of this book.
6. TMNT: Out of the Shadows: When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Case and point: This movie. I think this was out fault because we begged the producers to use the original cartoon as their basis for their newly rebooted movies. Sad thing is, it's much like the cartoon. There were some enjoyable parts, but overall. It's just sad to watch.
5. The Angry Birds: If there was a movie that's obviously a cash grab. It's this one. Only five years too late.
4. Free State of Jones: A movie that could've been an Oscar contender, but ended up being a bore-fest. This movie was terribly boring and it looked like it'll be action packed. But, there's barely any action in it at all. This should've been handled by The History Channel instead.
3. Ratchet & Clank: If there was a movie I was hoping it would end the curse of bad video game movies, it would be this one. Nope. It was unfunny, unfocused, and just made me play the games less.
2. Alice Through the Looking Glass: If there is one evidence to prove why Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was a bad movie. This one would be the one that proves it once and for all.
1. Ghostbusters (2016): I know I might catch a lot of flak for this, but I don't care. Truthfully, I had high hopes for this one to be actually good. Or at least entertaining. And there were a few scenes that were, but most of it was cringe. The comedy was all over the place. In fact, it has too much comedy. Slapstick, sarcastic humor, poop jokes, gross out humor, the works. It felt more of a cartoon than a live action movie. I don't hate this movie because I can tell it can be good, but just disappointed on how they just waist it by throwing tons of humor and 'memberberries.
So, which movies was your favorite or mostly disappointed by it? Comment below.

Priness Leia has passed away today
General | Posted 9 years agoJust received the news from a lot of sources and I still couldn't believe it. Carrie Fisher, who's best known as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies, has passed away.
This is just sad. The year is going to be over in the next few days and we still kept getting bad news. I wonder what are they going to do now for Episode 8 and 9 now.
May she rest in peace and may the Force be always with her. :(

Sing - movie review
General | Posted 9 years agoThis movie had me got all mixed feelings on this. It's nice to see more movies that features only animals, but it feels like it's rushed by Illumination to be put out based on the popularity and success of Zootopia. But, I still have some reserve optimism that it won't be as bad as many think it would be.
And after I saw it. It's not bad. I enjoyed it for what it is, but I don't think it'll be a classic in a sense. Once again, Illumination has of yet create an animated movie that'll be consider a classic. They can make hits and blockbusters sure, but classics. Far from it.
The basis of this movie is pretty basic and has been told before. An owner of a local theater has fallen on hard times after it's successful run in the past. In order to save itself, the owner, a koala named Buster Moon, decided to hold a local singing competition. The rest of the story follows on six other characters who would become the main contestants of the contest. A shy elephant, a reluctant young gangster gorilla, a 18-year old porcupine punk rocker, an overworked pig mother, a wise-cracking mouse street performer, and a very showy and confident male pig.
The pacing is a bit off at times and there's little focus on which story to stick with, but each character is drawn out a lot more than any ensemble movie. And each of the character who can sing is voiced by actors and actresses who can actually sing. Who knew Scarlet Johansson and Reese Witherspoon can sing? And each did a well enough job on each character they were given. The story, however, falls flat with the poor pacing and the lack of focus.
I give it a passable grade on this. It's watchable and each character is great, but overall. A rental at best. Don't see it in 3D. Not much there.
