Still active? Yes I Am!
General | Posted 11 years agoJust letting everybody know that the group is still technically active. If the page has seemed static that's partly due to a complete lack of anyone sending notes containing links to JoJo fan works on FA the creators wish to share. Remember, you're more than welcome to share your work here and have it hosted for all fans in the group to see. However we will not proactively search for such works of post without consent so it's up to you, fellow JoJo fan, to fill that gallery. So feel free to send notes!
The page is still active
General | Posted 12 years agoJust letting everybody know that despite there not being much in the way of activity, this page is still very much alive. It just got to a point where updates were almost exclusively about the PS3 game to the exclusion of everything else JoJo related happening and that just didn't seem fair.
There are many sites out there covering the various happenings, not the least of which being the upcoming anime based on Stardust Crusaders. Still, it's become apparent this page can't cut it as a news outlet so that will be left to those who get paid for covering this stuff.
For the time being this page will mostly be a dedicated location for JoJo fan-art. Remember, there's no special requirement to be a member of the group. If you're a JoJo fan then go right ahead and put that logo on your page profile, and if you'd like to have some of your art hosted here, just send a note to let us know and we'll share it with everybody.

All-Star Battle Menu Translations and Upcoming DLC
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, JoJo All-Star Battle has finally been released for a couple of days and as such there are a few few videos here worth checking out.
First of all there is already some confirmed DLC characters. Original Kira and Fatty Shigekiyo were known but now there is video footage of them and others: Iggy, Pannacotta Fugo, and a guest appearance by Baoh from another one of Araki's manga.
https://youtu.be/FC6n-6J_anY
Also, since no doubt people will be importing this it's only fair to warn you there are a lot of menu's to navigate. Thankfully, somebody was able to put together a rough menu translation/navigation which will help take a lot of the guesswork out for those of us who are Japanese illiterate.

So who out there has the game? Care to share any opinions or first impressions?

JoJo All-Star Battle: New PV6 Trailer!
General | Posted 12 years agoWe finally get to see more of the announced villains in action! The trailer wasn't posted to Namco Bandai's official YouTube page so unfortunately it can't be seen in 1080p. One that changes we'll alter the embedded video to that of the official upload. In the meantime enjoy seeing all the evil in action as well as the fabulous customizations that appear to be available.

JoJo All-Star Battle: Valentine and Kosaku Kira confirmed!
General | Posted 12 years agoAnother scan reveals two more characters as playable in All Star Battle today. None other than Yoshikage Kira's alter ego, Kosaku Kawajiri, and the President of the United States himself, Funny Valentine!
Funny Valentine and Kosaku Kawajiri Confirmed
Another version of Kira is an interesting choice though the scan suggests this one will use Stray Cat and maybe even Another One Bites the Dust rather than the normal explosions and Sheer Heart Attack the previous demonstrated. Other than that Valentine rounds out every major antagonist making the cut. Get hype! The game is only a month away! Get your pre-orders in while you can!

JoJo All-Star Battle: Two more characters revealed!
General | Posted 12 years agoThe character unveils just keep coming as we near the release of the game. Earlier today is was revealed that two more antagonists join the playable roster: Phantom Blood Dio and Enrico Pucci, the main antagonist of Stone Ocean.
Part 1 Dio Brando and Enrico Pucci
It can be seen in the lower corner that Pucci apparently is going to have access to all three of his stands in some capacity. How that will work remains to be seen as does Dio's method of fighting. It's worth noting that as of this reveal, the only major antagonist yet to be confirmed is Funny Valentine of Part 7.
So, who are you still hoping to see unveiled? Any guesses on how Pucci and Dio will fight or work? Feel free to discuss.

All Star Battle: Bruno, Narancia and Diavolo revealed
General | Posted 12 years agoSupposedly it was confirmed earlier on that three Vento Aureo characters have been confirmed as platable by CyberConnect2 today. They are as follows.
-Bruno Buccellati
-Narancia Ghirga
-Diavolo
This info come courtesy of Siliconera. It simply says Jump confirms the inclusion of these characters which is rather vague. They neglect to mention whether this was confirmed in one of the various Jump magazines or if this information was released by Shueisha in some other fashion. There have yet to be any scans or photos to confirm the inclusion of these characters so it's advised to remain slightly skeptical until there's solid proof of confirmation.
We'll keep you appraised as more information comes out.
-EDIT-
And here is a scan confirming the inclusion of these characters.
Bruno, Narancia and Diavolo confirmed.
It's also worth noting that it appears a new stage has been revealed. It looks to be just outside the train where the Grateful Dead/Beach Boy fight took place.
So, who do you hope to see added next? Perhaps more characters from Stone Ocean or Steel Ball Run. Perhaps a better question would be how the hell King Crimson is going to work in-game.

All Star Battle: Rohan and Kars revealed
General | Posted 12 years agoMore characters are confirmed this week as Araki's self insert, Rohan, and Battle Tendency antagonist, Kars were unveiled in magazine scans.
Rohan Kishibe
Kars
Just to refresh everybody's memories, here is the roster as it stands. It currently has a total of 26 characters.
Phantom Blood
-Jonthan Joestar
-Will A. Zeppeli
Battle Tendency
-Joseph Joestar
-Caesar Zeppeli
-Wham
-ACDC
-Kars
Stardust Crusaders
-Jotaro Kujo
-Noriaki Kakyoin
-Mohammed Abdul
-Jean Pierre Polnareff
-Hol Horse
-Dio Brando
Diamond is Unbreakable
-Josuke Higashikata
-Okuyasu Nijimura
-Koichi Hirose
-Rohan Kishibe
-Akira Otoishi
-Yoshikage Kira
Vento Aureo
-Giornio Giovanna
-Guido Mista
Stone Ocean
-Jolyne Kujo
-Hermes Costello
Steel Ball Run
-Gyro Zeppeli
-Johnny Joestar
JOJOLION
-Josuke Higashikata (Gappy)
In this writer's opinion the large volume of characters from parts 2 through 4 is unsurprising for various reasons. Part 2 recently finished its anime run, Part 3 is easily the most popular arc and Part 4 is quite popular as well. As it stands though the lack of Part 5 characters is surprising considering in Japan that arc is nearly as popular as Part 3. It's probably a safe bet next time characters are revealed, assuming there are more, that at least one will be from Vento Aureo. There are some obvious absentees.
What are your thoughts? Who are you still hoping to see?

Nothing especially noteworthy was unveiled at the anime festival sadly, though hopefully these scans are a preface to another preview trailer. That's been the trend thus far.

Still Taking Submissions
General | Posted 12 years agoJust a little reminder journal that this group is always taking submissions of JoJo fan work so if you have some you'd like to have featured here feel free to send a note and share.
A few other odds and ends to address:
-The Anime series has ended some time ago. Apologies for not posting updated journals but they weren't spurring much discussion so it was stopped.
-Remember to keep your eyes on Namco Bandai's youtube page this weekend. Cyberconnect2 is holing an event this weekend at an anime festival and will supposedly having a playable build of JoJo All-Star Battle there. With any luck we'll be able to see the most recently revealed characters in action and maybe even have a few more unveiled.
-Excellent news for action figure enthusiasts. As some noticed, Medicos, the manufacturers of the excellent Super Action Statue line of JoJo figures, have announced restocks of formerly discontinued figures of Part 2 characters. We are extremely happy to announce they are expanding that and are releasing restocks of several Part 3 characters as well! The schedule appears to be as follows.
June 2013: Caesar Zeppeli and Kars
July 2013: Young Joseph Joestar
August 2013: Jotaro Kujo (2nd Version)
September 2013: Noriaki Kakyoin
October 2013: Hierophant Green and The World (1st Version)
November 2013: Magician's Red and Dio Brando (1st Version)
December 2013: J.P. Polnareff and Guido Mista with Sex Pistols
It cannot be stressed enough just how great an opportunity this is. Many of these figures have been discontinued for years and now on the second-hand market can command prices nearing if not exceeding $100. If you have even the slightest urge to start collecting JoJo figures this would be the time to start.
This also potentially indicates something else. The restocks of Joseph, Caesar and Kars are no doubt in reaction to the positive reception of the recent anime series. With any luck these Part 3 restocks are an indicator there are plans to start a new anime adaption near the end of the year. One can certainly hope so anyway.

All Star Battle: Koichi and Akira revealed
General | Posted 12 years agoSome interesting news as Diamond is Unbreakable gets some love in the upcoming JoJo game. Protagonist Koichi Hirose and minor villain Akira Otoishi have been revealed in a magazine scan.
Koichi and Akira confirmed in magazine.
After the most recent official trailer there was a lot of speculation as to how many more characters were expected to be revealed. Opinions have been optimistic as well as conservative. While Caesar and Koichi were relatively safe bets, ACDC and Akira are arguably more unexpected. What were your roaster expectations before and have they changed at all with these two most recent reveals? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
Also worth noting is that it's been confirmed CyberConnect2 will be hosting another event at Machi Asobi anime festival during the first weekend of May. They will supposedly have a playable demo available for attendees. If we're fortunate perhaps Namco Bandai will also release another PV showing off these most recent rosters additions and hopefully revealing some band new ones which seem curiously absent at this time.
In the meantime, celebrate by headbanging while Akira belts out a face melter!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Abridged Begins Anew!
General | Posted 12 years agoAnd there was much rejoicing!
https://youtu.be/yspCTWg4LMU
Antfish's original Abridged was actually a surprisingly good way to get people interested in JoJo. People remember him for animating Hiimdaisy's Persona comics and wanted to check out what else he did. Either way his editing is phenomenal and these are entertaining to watch even for non-fans.
Be sure to subscribe if you like his work.

JOJOVELLER Website is Live
General | Posted 12 years agoJOJOVELLER, for those who haven't heard about it yet, is the next art book being put out for our lovely series of choice. There was a countdown page for quite some time however it wasn't linked to here because countdowns have a rather dubious reputation. Glad to see this one actually delivered. The official website for the JOJOVELLER art book is now live!
http://jojoveller.com/
Click the arrow at the bottom to get to the juicy bits. Now from this page there are important bits of information if one interested in this book.
-Its release date is September 19th.
-This is a made-to-order limited edition artbook. They appear to only be making enough to fill pre-orders.
-Pre-orders for the limited edition only seem to open from today (March 19th) to May 7th.
-It's priced at 20,000 yen.
-This bundle includes 3 books and 2 blu-ray videos all in a limited lacquered box.
-There will be a standard edition tentatively scheduled for release some time next spring that will include the books but lack the blu-rays and box. It's currently estimated to cost 8,500 yen.
From this moderator's point of view JoJo merchandise is limited enough as is. Making something actually "Limited" makes this something to seriously consider pre-ordering if you have interest. Six months is after all plenty of time to stock up 20,000 yen worth of funding. To close here are some of the teaser vids released the day the site opened.

JoJo Anime: Episode 20 Discussion
General | Posted 13 years agoReference-A-Go-Go: Quarter Circle Forward + ORA!
General | Posted 13 years agoWelcome to the first installment of "Reference-A-Go-Go, what we hope will be a periodic ongoing series of articles for fun. As was mentioned in the Group profile page, many franchises in all forms of media have made reference to JoJo in some manner or another and in this series we hope to share some of these little tributes and "wink nudge" moments.
Tonight we start with fighting games. JoJo is no stranger to fighters what with Capcom having made a 2D game based on Part 3, but JoJo's influence is much farther reaching than that. There are many installments here but we'll try to offer visual examples when possible, linked in bold. Some references are quite blatant. Others are a bit more suppositional but we won't list them unless we feel there's a strong enough possibility of it being a reference.
Let's begin!
Street Fighter Series
-Guile is likely based on Rudolf von Stroheim. They share similar hairstyles as well as a military background and blatant patriotism. Ironically Guile is American whereas Stroheim is a German Nazi.
-Rose is based on Lisa Lisa. Their appearances are remarkably similar and both fight using a scarf, animated by their respective power.
-Juri is based on Jolyne Kujo. The hair is the most obvious indicator. Another is Juri's outfit has a spider motif that was also present in many of Jolyne's outfits.
Other Capcom Fighters
-Santana from Cyberbots bears a very strong resemblance to Mohammed Adbul. He also of course shares the name of the first Pillar Man in Part 2.
-In Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, Omega Red's Ending mirrors a conversation in Part 1. Will Zeppeli asks Dio how many lives he's takes to which Dio retorts by asking if Will remembers every piece of bread he's eaten.
SNK
-Common knowledge really but Benimaru from King of Fighters is based on Polnareff. SNK staff have flat out stated this and to this day refer to Benimaru as Polnareff.
-Dio from World Heroes References a couple things in JoJo. Physically he can do ridiculous things with his body and bears similarities to the Pillar men, especially Kars. Obviously Dio Brando is his namesake and he even shares the habit of shouting "Muda" in combat.
Sega
-Bahn from Fighting Vipers is obviously based on Jotaro Kujo
Guilty Gear
-Robo-Ky has an Overdrive where he punches the opponent rapidly while text bubbles appear around his with the Japanese word "Dame". In the right context "Dame" can mean "useless/futile/pointless" just the as "Muda". Yup. A roundabout Dio reference.
-Zappa's outfit bears a slightly more than passing resemblance to Dio Brando's. In their respective fighting games their walk animations are nearly identical. Zappa's idle standing animation is basically a comical, perpetual WRYYYYY pose. Finally, Zappa is posessed by ghosts that are summoned and hover around him in combat, conceptually similar to Stands though in the case of Zappa used more for comic effect.
Blazblue
-Hazama seems to have some nods to Dio. He fights with knives and is prone to doing the WRYYYYY pose during some of his moves.
-Relius Clover's use of Ignis in combat is very similar to Stands both conceptually and in actual in game implementation when compared to the 2D JoJo fighter made by Capcom. She comes and goes at his whim and hovers just behind him when idle.
-The new character Amane Nishiki fights using his shawl, another potential reference to Lisa Lisa.
Skullgirls
-Peacock has a super move where she drops a random large object on the opponent. It's a random item whatever it is. Apparently an extremely rare drop is a full blown Road Roller. Audio was added to that video by the way. Obviously a reference to the now infamous Za Waruudo/Road Roller Da meme.
-Valentine has a super move where she throws scalpels the same Dio throws knives.
-Not strictly in-game related but there was definitely a JoJo fan at Reverge Labs when Skullgirls was in production.
That's a whole lot of references just for one genre in one medium! Ever so we wouldn't be surprised if there were more that weren't listed here. If you can think of any others, mention them in the comments below!

Promote JoJo Furs, Win a Prize
General | Posted 13 years agoThe last few months have been a very busy and exciting time for JoJo fans and that was part of the inspiration of starting this group. We're always trying to reach out and help garner interest in this magnificent series. In order to help get that enthusiasm around we're going to have a little contest to try and get the word out and promote this group.
The rules are simple. All you have to do is write a journal about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and name drop this group at the end. The journal can be about anything JoJo related. Share some experiences. Perhaps why you like the series or how you got into it, reviews of products, games or the new anime that's still being released. If you've only just gotten into the fandom or haven't even read any of it yet, talk about why you're intrigued by this series. Anybody can enter and we're doing it that way to encourage people who have never seen JoJo to check it out.
After you make the journal, simply comment on this journal with a link to your posting and you'll be entered in a random name drawing to win the English localization of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Volume 1 released by Viz.
A simple little prize giveaway for something that doesn't take much effort at all. We'll end the contest March 1st. In the meantime we look forward to hearing what you have to say!

JoJo Anime: Episode 18 & 19 Discussion
General | Posted 13 years agoSorry for the week hiatus everyone but here is a discussion journal for the two most recent episodes.
Episode 18 can be viewed here.
Episode 19 can be viewed here.
We're nearing the end of Battle Tendency. It's a safe guess that the last episode will be 26 or thereabouts. The real question now is if it will continue on to Stardust Crusaders. Hopefully this image is indicative the answer is yes. If JoJo fans are fortunate, Blu-ray sales will be strong enough to encourage a budget increase, especially since Stands enter the picture.
On a different note there was some interesting information about All-Star Battle at Namco Bandai's press event. There was apparently a new trailer which we can assume will be uploaded sometime this week on the company's official youtube channel. We'll keep you updated.

JoJo All-Star Battle: Major Update!!!
General | Posted 13 years agoA new scan has just been released revealing some exciting and shocking new info regarding the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle.
New All-Star Battle Scan
Now with this scan there is a slew of information revealed. Various sites were checked for translations of the text and this is what can be discerned.
-Obviously Part 8's Josuke Higashikata with Soft & Wet has been revealed as playable. An interesting reveal considering "Gappy" has yet to show much of his battle prowess.
-The game's official box art has been shown.
-There is now a more concrete release date of August 29 of this year.
-In addition to the standard edition there will also be a limited edition at an unknown cost. The limited edition will include a statue of Jotaro and Star Platinum, a soundtrack CD and an illustration by Hirohiko Araki.
-People who pre-order the game or purchase a first print copy will get a real memo book fashioned to look like Hayato Kawajiri under the effects of Heaven's Door. They'll also receive a DLC voucher for Yoshikage Kira. This seems to confirm Kira as being playable also.
Now that last bit of info regarding Kira is concerning and can possibly complicate things for importers. The text seems to literally say "Kira Yoshikage download code" which is remarkably vague. The optimistic view is that this may be a code for an alternate costume. The other possibility is that Kira has been relegated to being a DLC character as incentive for people to adopt early which is certainly a possibility the way the current gaming industry operates. If the latter turns out to be the case this also raises questions about the potential roster. If arguably the second most popular villain in the series is DLC, what does that mean for other series antagonists?
Thankfully Namco Bandai Games is holding a press event this Saturday to show the game. Hopefully at this event some clarity will be brought to this Kira DLC enigma and with any luck we'll get a new trailer and more exciting reveals.
Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted as more is learned.

Merch Alert: New JoJo Action Figures!
General | Posted 13 years agoFirst and foremost we're happy to say the barrage of SAS recolors looks like it may finally be slowing down starting in spring with a new sculpt release. Spice Girl has been scheduled for release in April and is up for pre-order at various sites.
Super Action Statue: Spice Girl
It even comes with its own miniature Notorious B.I.G, how adorable! Oddly enough Trish doesn't sound like she'll be released until July at the earliest. May and June see the releases of Part 8 Josuke and Soft & Wet respectively, which brings us to the next bit of news.
Wonder Festival 2013 took place over this last weekend and with it we got to see some new figures from Medicos' Super Action Statue line as well as Di Molto Bene's Statue Legend series. Here are some snapshots.

Josuke with Soft & Wet
Statue Legend
Lisa Lisa
Prosciutto and Grateful Dead
Risotto Nero
Also, while not figure related, everybody should remember that the next major JoJo art book, JOJOVELLER has a tentative release of Spring 2013. No specific date or price has been confirmed yet though it's a safe assumption importing it will be expensive. JOJO A-GO! GO! cost about $120 to import and it's a fair bet this book will cost as much if not more. It appears to be larger.

New JBA: All-Star Battle Screenshots
With any luck this means we'll be getting another trailer soon. The pattern thus far has been trailers coming out shortly after Famitsu posts images.
Also, a reminder to everybody that we are always accepting submissions for fan art. Activity on the page is someone slow and some new art submissions could help greatly as well as show the talents of JoJo fans out there. All due credit is given. We simply show the art in the hopes we can get fans to connect.
