Most people who still use Twitter will probably have heard the news that Musk has essentially bought the platform, and for a good number of people on my feed, that means that they are hunting for new places to socialize.

My question is: If you're moving to other places, where exactly are you deciding to head to?

I do have an Itaku profile now (---> https://itaku.ee/profile/jonas-pride <---), since a few peeps mentioned it --seems-- like a good alternative, but I'm curious to know if others are heading to other places, like Mastodon.

I'm not opposed to remaining there, but I do not find myself feeling any confidence with this buy-out (I'm skeptical at best that all the horrible parts of that site will actually -improve- with the new management, considering that Musk seems indifferent to artists in general), and it'll be interesting to see where this all leads, and if becomes another Tumblr situation.

It took me some time, but I'm finally deciding to change my Patreon -- For those who are Patrons, I ask that you go read the most recent update post.

Hopefully there are no hard feelings towards the update. Again, these changes feel necessary at this point, and I want to be able to take a breath so I can get some much needed work done!

I mentioned this in the chat after last night's/this morning's stream, but I wanted reiterate that I am considering doing a -== MONTHLY ==- SketchNIGHTS revival. It'd be once a month, for those who miss them and want to participate in the old sketch commission streams. I did one recently, and thought it might be fun to do again, seeing as how popular it was~ This doesn't mean that any of my current work is--

A ) Done (there's always more to be done.
B ) That I will be stopping any of my other work to accommodate it.

Maybe this wont' pan out, or maybe I'll have to put it back on the shelf again. We'll see! But I wanna do it again <3

Just this month I moved up 1 more year in the "mile marker of life" ... Yes, that was a weird metaphor.


So far, been feeling reasonably good. Trying to stay productive, and such, despite the constant mental fog that is crap focus and other -chemically divergent- things.

Life is still what it is, what with trying to keep the day-job going and making neat things for cool peoples. Dealing with emotional highs and lows. Dunno if I'll ever quit the whole "anthro" thing, since that's a big part of my life. Will probably try to focus less on lewd things though so I can share cool, PG-rated stuff with people who aren't into the adult/nsfw work. But that's always been on my mind.


Hopefully you all have been having a reasonably positive 2021, despite the planet being on fire and life's usual drama. I know it's a bit late to say it, but .. Happy Spanks-Giving! :D

Patreon has been a fine space for trying to do monthly support from those in the community, and I very much appreciate them!

I also know that Patreon isn't quite what everyone likes to use, since they have a very "haphazard" way of updating policy and cracking down on adult content, which has been kinda/sorta my bread and butter up until now.

I get the vibe that most people at least like the art I produce. I know I'm slow to produce work, and really, its kind of all come down to a bit of burn-out, anxiety, and depression in general which I feel holds me back a lot, if not kills my inspiration and energy to focus on it. Couple it with ADHD where my focus careens left and right whenever it feels like it isn't being stimulated by something, and it gets a bit hard to keep on track. That being said, I am still producing it, so I can safely say I haven't given up.

Still, I feel like this question isn't a bad one to ask, maybe just out of curiosity.

If there were one thing about my artwork that you felt I could improve/practice more on, what would it be?

Hopefully this is a little bit engaging for people. I know that it can be hard to take criticism (or compliments, depending on one's self-image, and that's just another problem a lot of people get to deal with), and it can also be hard to give it when it's just easy to say that something is good/bad without qualifying the statement, or feeling like you have the right words or experience.

I think a part of why I'm asking comes from watching "pros" give tips on YouTube for "high-production/quick learning" takes, where you're expected to focus on output, not the enjoyment of art itself. They have some decent advice, but art for me isn't about having a day-job, it's about enjoying the stuff you make. If not the work, then at least the process.

I might take this down later, depending on how my brain decides to judge me for asking silly questions. I don't post journals much anyways, but social media is a fucking joke, too, so here's my small attempt at engagement.

As you may not have noticed on my Twitter, been a bit of a shitty time.

One of my uncles has recently passed away, due to spreading Cancer. They were on gene-targeting therapy to try and remove it safely, and it seemed like he might have been getting better, but with recent texts from my mother, it seems they were unlucky. I wish I could have at least seen them one more time before they passed away, but as the kind of solitary character that I am, and with a work schedule that I have, it was not possible.

At least they aren't suffering anymore

In other news, I've decided to check into Pillowfort thing, and have managed to (luckily) get an account set-up. I dunno if I will use it much, but with the possibility of another NSFW-content purge being aimed at Twitter, well.... might as well prepare for the worst.

If you like prefer I use Pillowfort, seeing as it actively supports NSFW content, I'll be fine posting there instead. I need to update all the other art sites I post at, anyway (they have become woefully out of date with posts, and I'm behind with a lot of stuff as is, though I've managed to catch up on some of the work) so it may be time to consolidate my work to a single source, rather than spreading myself out? We'll see... it could be much the same thing as Mastodon's thing, which I felt was a very poor replacement for the current Social Media giants...

Sorry about the non-communication for the past month. Brain is still cooling off because of ... well ... everything.



I always take good news at arm's length, even if it's unnecessary. No matter what changes, I'll probably still be doing what I'm doing now, but maybe I'll have some energy back. There's a singular painting that I want to finish, and I will be damned if I don't get it done this year. It's been a WIP for forever, and I'm inclined to get past it one way or another.

SketchNIGHTS is still officially on hiatus. Once I feel confident that bringing it off hiatus is a good idea, I will and you will hear about it.

I'm trying to get a bit more organized, so as to get away from the slump that has haunted me the last 4 - 5 years. Been cleaning up and getting things put together some IRL to try and improve whatever I can. It's not much ... but it IS a start.

Been thinking about my Patreon, and wondering how people have felt about it. It's remained limited for a reason, of course. If I have plenty of work in front of me right now, I feel like making further promises there might upset things. I've had one Patron suggest that past months owed could be exchanged for more "advanced" pieces, so I will give that a shot.

I know that my commission queue isn't quite moving quite as fast as I'd like, so most of this organizing and trying to get myself more energized for art is all part of that process. I'm trying to make it work!


Also! Curious as to how well this Pillowfort stuff is going? I'm not feeling like spending $5 on it, myself, if it never quite gets off the ground (it's still in Beta) .. but if it's as good/better than Tumblr, then I'd like to hear about it, and why.
