NEW ACCOUNT!
Posted 14 years agoMoving to
So ya, its been awhile since ive posted anything or even done anything with this account. For almost a year now I have been super busy with college and its been almost impossible to post anything. On top of that ive had a major art block for awhile do to me getting constantly better...i think. I admit ive rapidly improved over the 3 years ive been in college to the point where I look back at my old work and I want to burn it haha. But I know a lot of artists go through that though.
But the main reason for the new account is that I want to start posting more of my better work on a new account and I just want to start fresh. On top of that I don't want it mixing with my old stuff >.<. Don't get my wrong, I liked working on the stuff I did for many peeps and im glad they enjoyed the work ive done for them. The other main reason is that I want a character name for my account. People still call me Perkins though and I don't mind that at all.
If anyone eals is wondering, yes...I will be posting a lot more work on my new site or at least ill try too, but most of all I'll be a LOT more active on it. Will I post my old work on there? Maybe, I don't really know yet. But over all, I really do enjoy all the peeps that have been watching me and enjoying my work, and with over 1,000 peeps watching me I really do want to say thank you to everyone!
Oh and I might clear this account sometime in the future. I don't know when or if I might, but just in case save anything you like.

Owning exotic animals in WA
Posted 16 years agoFor awhile now ive been wanting to get a fennec fox or certain other exotic animals as a pet. The big question is, are you allowed to own a fennec fox in the state of WA? ive been looking into it but haven't got much info on it. Does anyone know if you can own one in WA? I know other states cant have them as pets.

Rainfurrest Report! And other IMPORTANT news!
Posted 16 years agoWell...another AWESOME year as always! Best weekend of the year in my opinion, that and when i get drunk on x-mas/Halloween. This was the first year me setting up a dealers table and i have to say, i did a hell of a lot better then i thought i did.
Ironically, i made most of my money off commissions then the shirts. Sold half of them though so im happy. And i met a lot of ppl i knew, both from before and online.
Had a table next to
who were really nice.
was helping me with tax info, which i was clueless about, but got better at it thanks to her!
Everyone i saw?

And everyone eals i cant name off the bat. And for all the other freaking awesome ppl that stop to say hello or commissioned me!
Now i have to get back to commissions, and do a big pic of me
at the dealing table haha XD. If i didn't say hello much i apologies, i was in a rush to get everyone's commissions done T.T
Had a freaking awesome time! With little sleep!
For ppl wondering about my comic/graphic novel. I probably wont be starting it for awhile. Why? Well, first off i need to build the story a bit more and plan/write out everything. I mean, ya don't want to jump into something then realize later "oh shit i wish i could of changed that". And i also need to improve my artistic ability a bit more. I can draw fairly good now but, i want to make it even better. A good comic/novel is based on really good artwork and story.
Some ppl say story is what mainly brings it to life but, in my opinion...if im going to buy a comic, i want it to be filled with great art work mostly. Which is why i buy most comics today. In my opinion a good novel is 50% art and 50% story or a bit more on the art. Others say, if it just mainly has great art in it and not too good of a story, then its just eye candy. And what i mainly try to aim for is, a graphic novel that is for almost any fandom/stereotype. Something everyone's going to like and want to read, not just the furry fandom.
And that my friends...take a LOT of work. Of coarse theirs always going to be ppl who like something and ppl who don't, no matter how good it is.
Other then that, if anyone has any questions what so ever, please don't hesitate to ask!

Criticism and conversation
Posted 16 years agoThis is an interesting subject ive seen from time to time, and i think its an important idea.
Many times through my school career, ive heard different ways on how to give criticism and hold a conversation on it. I think giving criticism is a great thing and it helps improves peoples work from time to time, especially mine. But, at the same time ive also seen that people sometimes get offended when they receive criticism, and vise versa when the criticism is disagreed with.
An interesting fast is, there is nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone on a subject. Ive been taught, an interesting thing called, "Agree to disagree". Meaning, its ok to disagree in a conversation, and to accept the other persons disagreement. But heres a fact... weather your giving criticism or receiving it, you need to state WHY, and sometimes to defend your opinion. This is how you hold a proper conversation. Through my career, my teachers and professors have taught me that if you state a opinion or view, that you need to defend your point and explain why. Otherwise, the conversation at most would be meaningless.
Its more rude to give criticism and walk away, then to state your opinion/feelings on it. Yes... sometimes ppl may not like what they hear and sometimes they will be offended, but again, that's part of conversation and how things are. And we all go through it. believe me folks, i LOVE it when ppl give crit and help me on my work, and when they do i go back and fix it and try to improve on it, but...i will state WHY i did that certain thing and ill probably ask questions and even disagree on some things, but again...this is proper conversation. Now im not saying that you should always disagree but, just don't be offended to say it.
In my opinion, if someone wanted to give me or others criticism and not want to hear something in return then...you defeat the whole propose of the talk, unless your a teacher with 30 other student in the class i guess haha. My point is, don't feel offended if someone disagrees with you, and that its ok. Just state why and share each others view points. And even as i write this journal, i know ppl will disagree or have view points, but that's ok, in fact...i expect you to. As ppl share view points and there knowledge, we can gain a bit of knowledge ourselves from it. Ive also been raised around different cultures and such so, keep in mine folks that others might expect to disagree to hold conversation.
Another interesting thought of mine is, if everyone agreed on everything...how would we have anything to talk about? And for many years, ive had trouble holding conversations myself and understanding others because of my "Asperger disability".
And because of this, ppl from time to time treat me like an idiot. But my point of this journal is, keep an open mind and don't feel offended on criticism and disagreement. We learn from each other when sharing our views and explanations on things.

T-shirts and commisions
Posted 16 years agoI am working on some T-shirt designs at the moment for the rainfurrest con. If anyone has any good ideas/ suggestions then please throw them out to me. Im just trying to find something that will grab ppls attention. And if anyone can give me a really good suggestion/idea and its successful, then i will do them a free commission, and they will get a free copy of the shirt too!
And if anyone wants a normal commission, im doing them for a lower price then usual.

The truth about art.
Posted 16 years agoI don't usually talk on the internet much but, perhaps it will make me feel better if i get this off my chest.
As many artists we strive to make a name for ourselves. In my own opinion and to what Ive seen and learned, an artist career path is a long and difficult one. Many artists such as myself and millions of others want to get our work out there and want to do something big with our stuff. Weather its being famous, being popular professional that everyone recognizes, or being wealthy, or whatever comes to hit your mind. But despite of all that, the path to get to archive our dreams, is a long and hard road.
Ive learned for awhile now that if you want to gain such a skill, that it all comes with lots of practice, patience, and really hard work. Now many of us strive to find our own style and what we want to do with that style and such. Now one of the hardiest things in this career that Ive come to live with is, finding your own style. And Ive also learned that this takes many years to archive for us artists. As to what Ive learned and seen that artists don't usually archive this along with being a professional or how every ya want to put it, until they get to there 30s or 40s, 80-90% of the time.
Now some of this may not be true but im just saying to what Ive learned and seen so far from the great artists Ive studied. I was told by a few of them, that the best way to go is to just practice drawing for a good 15 years or such, by studying and trying different styles and drawing realistic stuff. And what Ive been doing for awhile now is exactly that. But of coarse im young and i have lots of practice ahead of me.
As for myself? Every night/day i practice. Now only until a year or 2 ago did i really pull my head out of the water and begin to take a look around me. But despite of how much i practice i still feel down a lot. Because just when Ive felt that Ive gotten better at drawing, weather its anatomy or i got down a certain pose and i feel great about it, then ya look at the other artists, and ya get that envy feeling again. Now im sure as progressing artists, ALL of us has felt this before. And when we get better we look back at our art and feel 2 things...how much weave progress and, how much that drawing sucked...or at least most of us. I mean Ive been working on a comic for awhile, but every time i get a good idea or get better at drawing...i feel that it looks to much like a certain style of someones or its just not drawn good enough to be published. But the very big thing Ive known for awhile now is that, its OKAY to mess up! Thats how we learn. I still get depressed at times because of how crappy i think of my work and such. But that just me in my progressing mood.
But despite everything Ive said, as artists, all we can do is keep practicing and to try our best. And the big thing to remember is... No matter how great or crappy of an artist we think we are, theirs always someone out there that will like it and someone who wont. In the end it all comes down to a matter of an opinion.

Posted 16 years agoIve probably done/asked this in the past. For everyone thats watching me im just wondering, what is your biggest fear you have? Wether its a fear in dieing the worst way or something your just aphobic to.
For example: Mine is VERY deep water, like in the deep ocean and such. That or haveing my dream job torn away from me.
And just a reminder, Commission slots are still open for anyone that wants a pic.

Animation/toon boom studios!
Posted 17 years agoWell guess what ppl? I just got my new animation program "toon boom studios"! Im so exited to test it out but....I dont even know how to work it yet so, its going to be a little while before i can start a REAL animation. I might get flash later on too. But the reasion whey i dont really like flash too much is beacuse its not as good quality cartooning as some of thies other programs.
I want to make animations like treasure planet and stuff like that. But of caorse all this takes time and practice.
So, if anyone know of tutorials or a bit of helpful info on this program jsut let me know.
So your all going to have to wait on yiff animations and stuff lol...just kidden, im not sure if ill do adult animations. Just R and under perhaps.
