So, I did a thing...
General | Posted 9 years agoAfter fighting a creative block in just about every avenue I've enjoyed for the majority of my life, that is painting, writing, sculpting, drawing, I've done just about nothing in months) I was chatting with a friend and something just popped into my head. I post it here just so show off that there are occasionally words that come out (for those of you who are still waiting for me to write something on topic, I am still SO sorry for how useless I've felt in that regard).
A disclaimer on this first though. It's a fairly dark subject, not especially graphic but has it's moments. This is also on a theme that is very rare for me to cover. Death, implied werewolf, fear, it's that sort of thing.
Sometimes my brain and my inspiration works in unusual ways. Anyway, enjoy!
She ran. Her nearly-bare feet stung against the concrete of the pavement, heels discarded long ago in her panicked haste to escape the ominous figure that whispered dark promise to her that night. Memories of strong, densely furred fingers brushing her flesh spurred her flight on ever more urgently until the air of every breath felt leaden and heavy as it burned with the force of her gasps.
She stared ahead, further down the alley as she ran, already bursting out from an alley into the light of the populated street in her mind. She almost laughed in giddy relief at seeing people, so close, only yards away. Her thoughts tumbling about her head at the closing prospect of safety from the inhuman touch that seemed to linger on her arm, she didn't notice the growing of a shadow behind her until it flashed beside her, overbalancing her as she reflexively recoiled and skidded to a bruising stop, face-down.
The shadow growled, a feral laughter underscoring the tone as it approached and appraised the prey-like female all but frozen before it. Looming above her, the creature dropped it's face next to hers, the wolfen shape of it evident even in the meagre light from the distant street. Hot breath washed over her cheek, then as it casually rolled her to her back, her bared throat.
Teeth gleamed white as it grinned, sending one thick and powerful claw to wrap about the side of her head like an ordinary human would grasp an apple. The grin darkened, eyes flashing with hunger and power for an instant, a look that inspired terror and instilled a primal knowledge that she was merely prey to the beast was the last thing she saw. It lunged for her throat with impossible speed and strength, jaw snapping, sending a flare of blazing white-red through her every sense before she faded to darkness.
The creature stood over her body and wiped it's animalistic muzzle with the back of one heavily furred forearm, barely smearing away the clinging crimson stain with the gesture. It spared only a fleeting glance back down at the woman, her neck snapped and her throat torn to a bloody, ragged ruin. With a derisive snort, it set off back into the night; it wasn't always for food that it hunted, sometimes it was just fun to taste their fear.

Writing things.
General | Posted 9 years agoSo, maybe because it's all the rage or perhaps because I got positive support and feedback on a few intense roleplays I conducted a while back, or maybe just because I'm poor and want to whore my writing out for money, but I'm strongly considering writing things on commission. If I'm honest I don't know why I'm writing this journal post out, I suspect I'm secretly hoping someone pops up to tell me I'm being ridiculous and should give up before I start. Consciously I'd like to think that someone will chime in and tell me I really -can- write to a decent standard.
Or I could just be trying to convince myself not to try, in case I fuck it all up. It's probably this.
Ah well. I guess I should just write something and post it, then we'll see what people think about JayKittenSmut.
