Stop-Motion Animation set-up getting closer to reality
Posted 14 years agoI am getting much closer to experimenting in high-quality digital stop-motion animation. I have my camera and a small 24" by 30" stage to work within, lights and shortly shall have the animation software for controlling the camera. The only thing that I currently am lacking are the puppets, and those will be built shortly. Will keep anyone interested posted as things develop.
FC 2011: art update.
Posted 14 years agoYipes! it's been way too long since i have posted anything here! I have a lot of pencil sketches waiting for scanning and cleanup; I need to decide which ones are worth the effort to ink and color. In other news, I finally have a digital SLR camera to tackle stop-motion animation with, so I will be hoping to have something animated and lively to show in the next few months. In the meanwhile , I shall collate and scan the pencil drawings that i do have ready and post them as i complete cleaning them up.
Convention's End
Posted 16 years agoThe end of the convention; exhausted but enthusiastic for the next year. We had 530 fursuits in the fursuit parade! A few dragons more than last year I noticed, some of them quite cute, well made and well performed. We need to have a few more dragons for next year though...
Convention Blahs
Posted 16 years agoFor some weird reason I was feeling... bored. Or something to the effect, wasn't sure why. So I went out to my car and listened to the new soundtrack I picked up at the con, season four of Doctor Who. That seemed to do the trick, specifically listening to specific tracks: #20 - A Dazzling End and track #26, whose title escapes me at the moment. Nicely inspirational and uplifting. Not so blah anymore.
Post-ADP comments
Posted 16 years agoThe Adult Dragon Panel showed me that I really need to put more effort into finishing my artwork; being sandwiched in-between two totally awesome artists whose work reflects there passion for their subjects was a bit scary and humbling; I also do not like public speaking very much I get too quiet and talk too quickly or too little about the art on screen. Oh well; I have commented that I prefer to let the artwork speak for itself, the idea either hits a chord with the audience or it doesn't. Not all of my artwork is going to appeal to everyone, that's the nature of art. I try to make it more of a self-satisfaction thing anyway, this stuff is basically my way of figuring things out. This means that the results are going to be rough, sketchy and crude when they first come out. If people like, that's a side benefit. Not everyone likes the same thing, that's a given. SO, in the end I felt a bit inadequate, but not in a bad way; I just need to through myself into my art with a good deal more passion for it to improve; take risks try things I wouldn't normally try and be more willing to try new techniques. It's a learning process.
At FC 2009 Friday Night Adult Dragon Panel
Posted 16 years agoA little nervous before the Adult Dragon Panel, but not too nervous. Reviewing the art I submitted to Kiteless, I am beginning to wish I had submitted a couple of the pieces that I sent here in the last few days. I will have to delete and reload my scanner software, apparently it developed a fault that is preventing me from scanning art into my iMac. Will fix that after the Con. Will also begin to ink and color various sketches over the next coupla months as I have time. Will probably report after the panel on how it went.
FC Adult Dragon Panel
Posted 16 years agoSent off my submissions for the Adult Dragon Panel at FC this evening; the art is a bit tame for me, but it is mostly new stuff. I need to really focus on finishing art; sketching is all fine and well, but a colored or inked piece is really better looking. In the future I will post some of the storyboards that I have been slowly working on and post some of the stranger characters that I have in my menagerie. Hope to see a few of you folks at Further ConFusion!
New Art being scanned and posted
Posted 16 years agoFinally posting some of the pencil drawings and scribbles that I occupy my free time with and hope one day to eventually finish as colored art. I really need to get back into being more communicative and responsive. This art spurt will probably continue until the day before Further Confusion, and may dredge up some older sketches that I haven't scanned. Most of the stuff I sketch is my own personal explorations of ideas, both mundane and truly weird, so let me know what you think about; I am curious. I really must thank Kiteless for lighting the fire under my seat, so to speak; and watching the Legendz anime and reading the Legendz manga was another inspiration for sharing my own recent art.
Proceeding at a Dragon's pace...
Posted 17 years agoI must be a dragon, I take my sweet time to do anything... distracted by shinies and new tools/toys (sewing machine). Trying to get a costume together, though not for FC 2009; I will have something completed to wear by FC2010. Pictures to be downloaded this week. One of the pieces that I have put up is a costume design I made for Kiteless a while back and he has finally gotten to wear it at MFF. Can't wait to see Virgil the Husky/Dragon in person! It turned out really cute! I should also upload the original artwork I did for Kiteless' other critter, Cirrus. That was the first suit I had ever designed that was fully realized as a costume and I was very blown away. I will post more artwork here in the very near future (the next month) as I clean up drawings and color them or leave them in grey tone or black and white.
FC 2007
Posted 18 years agoJust a brief hello to all watching! Actually had some artwork used in a panel on dragon sex, which was cool. Need to color more sketches and post them here and the VCL. The con has been fun and I have enjoyed meeting a few of the people watching my account here. Will be posting new art in the next week, mostly sketches that I have been meaning to scan and clean up in Photoslop. Hope to have at least five to ten pieces cleaned up enough to be presentable.
Thank you all for the encouragement!
Posted 19 years agoSorry for the slowness at which I add images; I need to sit down and color more of my pencil drawings and get more stuff actually inked. I have a ton of images that I need to scan and get cleaned up; though I don't know how many are actually worth while scanning, so I will start with the most finished looking stuff or the best looking stuff and go from there. Thanks to those who are watching! And a big thank you to those who have said hello through the shouts! I will try to share more of my artwork and see if I can dust off some story concepts that I have sitting around and share those too.
Newbie
Posted 19 years agoI must thank Kiteless Dragon for suggesting that I open an account. I had been meaning to for some time, but his gentle prodding compelled me to make the jump.
