Just seen a Guardians preview.
General | Posted 2 years agoAnd they teased some kind of Furry village. Is it there for a minute joke? Plot related? Pandering to a trend? Be interesting to see what they do with that. Though, I thought in their universe, Rocket and couple other former animals were made out of an experiment. Is this the village of the progress of said experiment or are they going past a lot of simply green and blue Humanoids?
[EDIT] Oh, wow. A new Indiana Jones movie. I did not see that coming. Do wonder how much is CG. After all, Mr. Ford seems too old to be doing the stunt work of any sort for it.

Seems that Furry is now a... doll.
General | Posted 3 years agoOh... I knew that Furry culture was a household name when retail just started selling budget mascot heads and such, a couple or so years ago. But alas, the marketing is just going deeper and deeper.
For what did I see when shopping for electronics today? Randomly on the shelves of A1Up's and various toys, there was just a singular grouping of dolls sitting there. Now why would that grab my eye? Brand named Barbie. They were multiple ladies taking off their fursuit heads and otherwise dressed from toe to shoulder in a full-on suit.
Just Google 'barbie furry costume' and see for yourself. (I even tried barbie mascot and that was a lot of cosplay and such. The engine recommended the other search term, instead.) They have a whole line of species, so it seems. One was even a doe... with antlers. Caribou, maybe? I didn't feel like staring too long at the packaging. And here I thought that the seasonal Halloween store partitioning an entire part of a wall was recognition enough.
Now, what I did drop a couple dollars on was some of those machines that would normally be seen solely in Japan. Little figurines out of a plastic egg vender. Just little animals that were standing up. In front of urinals. I guess that I just had to know. And one was a little red panda. (Which I did get one of those.) Classify this under Japan being Japan. As they were (minimally) anatomically correct. Just enough to make a child ask what that little extra bit was to mommy & daddy. One does have to add an ounce of imagination to pronounce those as an M rated objects of art.

A nice distraction has shown up for retro. Atari 50!
General | Posted 3 years agoFor the very old gamers that are still active, there's a new tribute out there called Atari 50. Basically, a compile of over a hundred classics with a very video heavy history lesson. Seems very interesting and does compile games not typically seen in any other collections. Though, a bit on the pricey side at $40.
Anyhow, I finally got to try a Jaguar game that is entitled Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy, since it was included.
And, I got to say, if that game was intended to sell the Jaguar, it failed rather miserably. Barely an equal side scrolling shooter in the veins of the R-Type series. In fact, it's just a step above a tutorial teaching game found in Game Garage. (A DIY tool over on the Switch.) Even it's furry theme feels shoved in, as if to fit the console's feline theme and maybe trying to sponge off of StarFox. Basically, shoot everything that moves, dodge everything that comes at you and upgrade your ship until the first bullet blows you apart. I wouldn't have bought a Jaguar if that game was the one trying to sell it to me. Tempest 2000's vastly superior.

Despite some rough weeks, my luck just struck gold.
General | Posted 3 years agoI'm still coming down off an amazing high from tonight. And I owe it all to faithful Arcadians whom record it for the world to see over on YouTube.
Because of years worth of viewing, I knew what to look for with the local Key Master arcade machine. It was inside a local pizza gallery. They had this prize in there for well over a year or two. I've seen it hanging there, every time I'd get a pizza. And by seeing years of footage on such machines, I knew it had a payout before it became skill based. The arcade was packed full with unknown amounts of plays racked up throughout the day. Maybe the machine even remembers weeks or months of attempts. (I really do not know.) I was just there for a good dinner and some arcading fun. Looked at the machine and I remembered a song that played on the radio earlier. Went something like 'Tonight may be the night. A night to remember.' when I went in to cash out a small value winning lotto ticket. So, I put in the one dollar price. The key went way too low. But, it felt like the machine wasn't cheating. I knew the failure was on me. Second dollar. My eyes were like eagles with the alignment. The button didn't fail. It was at total skill payout. I just about fainted when that tight fitting bit went right through and pulled out the prize...
...A PlayStation 5!!!
To think, the other year, I literally had one of these impossible to get machines on the counter in front of me w/ my name on it and I informed the clerk that there was a mistake...expecting to only see another one in...ten years. (Maybe.) That one was somebody else's impossible to get reservation. And tonight was indeed a night to remember. I even left the layer of dust on the box, ever so thankful that the place had it ready for delivery...instead of some promise to deliver one in the next five to ten years. Because these things have been scalped to death and Sony can't keep up with the world wide shortages. No way I'm going to cave into that easy grand. This machine is a keeper.

This is why you never EVER get sick in America.
General | Posted 4 years agoI was going to post the picture. Alas, I don't quite understand FA's uploads about it. The photo seems legit to the rules. Yet, there's no 'photos' category to place it under.
Anyhow, here's an ASCII...

For basically a high tech x-ray. And the doctor wants another one done in a couple weeks. And my favorite part is when I'll have to call up the billing department to split up the bill and they act like every American basically has a billion dollars in the bank and paying seven grand in one lump should be mere chump change.
Sounds like Park Place with one house. Now if any real ER work is done, that's Boardwalk with a Hotel.

Movies getting desperate?
General | Posted 4 years agoI know that as of these past couple years, the movies are in a bad place. But, I just saw a trailer about a family that winds up on a beach. And the fear factor going on is...they are aging a whole year for every half hour. Sorry. Sounds desperate. This plot...if that's all it's got...isn't worthy of a Twilight Zone filler episode.
A thing's happening that I never thought I'd see.
General | Posted 4 years agoGranted, it is something that I have loosely theorized might happen under the right circumstances.
Anyhow, I was heading over to pick up the Outrun machine and as I drove by all these franchise places, so many of them were posting signs about how they were all currently hiring. And listing at what the wages were to be. Some on signs as big as their literal company logos.
It seems that for whatever reason is currently in play, unemployment is paying better then all these common wage jobs are. And some of those common jobs are listing at around $20 an hour, mind you. Unemployment's beating that amount. So, every lazy bum out there is vastly preferring to go for the bigger pay day and do nothing over actually getting...or worse yet...keeping a real job.
There's good reason why some people need that unemployment fund to keep them from falling into the homeless situation. But...this free money shouldn't be KO'ing the work force, in the process. There's reasons that people have always needed to do their part for the whole of the community. And if people are preferring to get rich the lazy way over doing their part, the system could just fall apart. Imagine going to the grocers to buy the weekly pantry stocks, only to find barren shelves. Or going out to dine and finding barely one chef on duty. Wanting to buy something with that free cash...only to see it sold out, as the truck drivers all quit. This almost feels like a bad science fiction plot to help push the automation of the whole system. Not that automation hasn't always been a threat in taking over the traditional jobs, as it is. But, to give competition to the former work force and force employers to seek out alternatives. We could wind up in a spiraling situation that drops the value of the whole nation, maybe the whole world, in record time. This band aid approach of revitalizing the economy feels like a very dangerous game to play.
Maybe this super bonus unemployment deal is just weeks away from vanishing, much like the fad of buying TP by the forest load. But, I can't help but theorize what the deuce is truly going on here.

Turned on the Net Flix, yesterday...
General | Posted 4 years ago...and it had a new show to promote. High budget production. Evolving plot line. Live action. And extremely furry.
Sweet Tooth. About a slightly future world where yet another disease has ravaged the world. Humanity is dying. (As badly as Captain Trip's did in Steven King's The Stand.) However, this disease has another goal. To mutate Humanity into a diverse, animal planet. And we're led on this adventure by a deer.
I'm now on Episode seven and didn't even realize how easily I had marathoned Season one. It's written in my kind of plotting style, too. And I've rewound a few time with the sub-text on to see the show is self aware about being Furry. Like this one moment that was eating screen time. Some Human survivors were playing charades. And they are going for a classic movie. Guesses easily wrangle down to 'fur'. And someone just blurts out something like, "Know what furries are?" (Or similar) We got a family with the last name fox...and has photos of foxes on the walls. An entire tribe of kids whom are so Lost Boys. Many, nudge-nudge references going on.
Anyhow, a must watch of 2021. And, hopefully many years down the road.
I also appreciate how it's engineered to dodge Rule 34. All hybrids are 10 years or younger. Yet this show is very much not a kids show. (Man, the classic tunes, alone...)

So an amazing, freaking Disney level thing happened, toda...
General | Posted 4 years agoSo, I was over at the personal arcade, working on yet another project. When I hear some kind of movement among the small storage zone. At first, thought I had bumped something. But, the sound of rustling continued and I backed off a bit. After all, the area has rodents...and things. Seconds pass and my attention is now glued in to the source. Out pops this little bird. No idea how it got in there. And good thing I stopped by. Less it potentially being trapped for a solid week. Well, it flutters about before trying for the only open door...which I have mosquito netting over. It grasps that for a few seconds before trying something else. Meanwhile, I'm just standing there, watching.
Then, that's when it happened. I just had a feeling of what to do, even if it made more sense at that moment. I calmly kept my gaze away from it a bit and held out one hand. Palm up. Nice and gentle. And it flew right to me. I was easily able to part the netting, walk outside, wait for it to leave as it perched upon my shoulder. I kind of figured it would make for the open skies any second. Yet, I figure it was around a minute and a half on a gentle walk towards a tree before it flew off. I may understand that if you don't keep a strong, constant stare at wildlife and don't act threatening, you might be surprised at what happens. But it was as if I projected my will to help towards that wild creature that maybe grasped the notion that it couldn't get out of there by itself.
And, that's the kind of Furry that I am at heart. I don't want to harm anything if I don't have to. Creepy insects like spiders and mosquitos AND constantly invasive mice, excluded. (May have felt bad laying glue traps. But I sure felt good in running it up a tree for a new life, some miles away.)

What is up with these weird dreams?
General | Posted 4 years agoWhat is up with these wild dreams? Anyhow, this one was a real blood pressure pusher, for sure. I was most definitely seeing through the eyes of someone else. Older male. Asian. Had a pocket full of change that was intended for donation. I felt the intention for some thankfulness from his past was on his mind. He's walking through a subterranean area that is large and well lit. While no windows to see out of, it definitely feels like it's towards the evening. Nearing the donation box, several younger males walk out from the distance. Though they haven't said a thing, they are posturing like they are gathering up the courage for something to go down and start to casually split up and surround him, while maintaining a distance. He doesn't dare show any money, being very aware of their less then innocent presence and starts to walk in an open direction, going to an open door and stepping through. Inside, some kind of make shift hospital is happening. Donated beds and outdated equipment is about with volunteers aiding a hand full of patients. It just looks like profitless operation and feels as if the man expected this to be here. Perhaps, the reason for his coming to donate, even. He walks around, as if making time for the outside threesome to go their way. Though, as if through a sixth sense, he can feel uneasiness from those around him. He glances back at the door. The three will not enter. But will not leave. He knows that he can't expect help in here. Only intimidation by being around others. Eyewitnesses, if nothing more. He makes his way to another open door that contains some sort of small office suite, hoping for a phone to summons police. Or at least a brave ally. Only to find a few more men that are very much hustling a couple people in their chairs. He walks out before this crowd notices and walks back into the ER style area that is set up in this concrete based place. The threesome are now a whole lot more and they've begun to pour in. Their courage is now very firm and they begin to yell about, scaring the innocents and volunteers. His blood boiling, he darts towards the closest punk and starts yelling back. Then, they all start reaching for some hidden guns. The second he sees the closest threat doing this, he jumps the guy and secures the weapon while pushing the other man down. It's a shotgun. Sawed off barrel. The next closest threat whips his pistol out and aims it at the guy whose eyes I am seeing through. My guy bravely aims the shotgun back and shoots first, taking most of the hand of the threat off in the process. The sound of the shot is deafening in this place. Except the following sound of other guns, hitting the floor is quite clear. He looks around and none of the innocents are daring to back him up. He should have left the place to seek help. Instead, he starts yelling at the crowd to get out of here and they seem unsure of what to do. He turns around as one of the thugs from the office shows up at the door and he is forced to fire the shotgun again for more show of force as this guy is definitely going to shoot over being shocked. Dropping the guy in the doorway, he dashes back into the office in blind hope of finding that phone. Instead, he finds the boss of this ambush. He knows he has, too. Bravely aiming the barrel end of that shotgun into the guy's face, he demands of the boss to end all this as everyone else just stares in shock. Instead, the boss goes into this little sobbing deal. “Quit? Leave here? Forever? No more? Money?” Bla, bla, bla. As my guy is heaving with harsh breathes and anger, waiting for a no terms surrender or a blood bath. And the dream fades away with that sixth sense knowing that he just gave all his concentration to one guy with his back turned on many armed question marks. The boss was definitely stalling. And there was no sensation that the innocent were going to do anything brave. Which left this ill feeling that with his back turned, he was going to get cold cocked at any second. But, dang...what a start up to the morning.
Thanks for reading. Just wanted to share this rather Steven Seagull of a weird sequence dream.

As my furry side slowly wanes...
General | Posted 4 years agoOver these past few years, I can definitely sense my connection to the fandom slowly slipping away. Hermit ways are gaining strength. And the mundanes are definitely pulling me back into their world. One strive towards that fact is how nostalgia is replacing what I was once striving for. Been scratching money to the luxury fund for many months and I've gone and created a private little slice of nostalgic heaven in that which once was. At least, I haven't been bursting open the nest egg over it.
Just thought I'd share something that means a bit to me, these days. https://youtu.be/ugcxdcwM2wo

I see the spam bots are getting...broad.
General | Posted 5 years agoSpam bots? Pushing their filth here in FA? Geez. The internet is horrid. And, to think, I was half joking the other night when I said that we'd all be doomed if that A.I. Dungeon program was ever placed into service for bot spamming. At least this one was ultra dumb and easy to spot for the rubbish bin.
Slight plans for the future of this account.
General | Posted 5 years agoProgress on commissioning has always been a slow deal. However, I have plenty of ideas that I'd like to see brought into the visual stage. And I know that they aren't worth paying a hundred each to do so. Here's my thinking. Now that I'm getting into this powerful engine known as Dreams, I was thinking of creating such 'low priority' scenes inside that CG environment, instead.
Now, to figure out just how to get the images out of there. Thought I could USB port it. Not looking promising. Can Twitch it out. But...ugh. All the clarity just vanishes into this washed out visual. Perhaps via Twitter. If only this error wasn't happening on that. And I don't think aiming a camera at the raw screen is any better. Maybe if I intercept the HDMI via a capture card?
Some answer must exist. For now, just thought that I would mention my potential plans. And...yes. For the scenes that I think are worthy of real quality, I still do plan on doing commissions.
EDIT: I spoke too soon. Just looked up a tutorial and tried plugging in my sacrificial memory stick to the PC. The test picture saved perfectly...despite my initial misunderstanding. So, I shall upload the first practice image...the scene of the crime where Teela's kits are placed into jeopardy inside an alien sushi-type bar. Which is a place where alien beings can enjoy living, squirming food items.

An amusing thing happened in that 'Dreams' engine...
General | Posted 5 years agoThere's this new 'game' of sorts that came out for the PlayStation 4 called Dreams. In essence, it lets the world create 3D video games that can be shared with other users of this game. And I've spend a few hours on the tutorials and a couple games...so far. Just thought that I would share this amusing little thing that happened as I was learning how to build a world. So, I searched a few items and characters out and copied them into my test realm. A really well done dinosaur and an anthro fox. Then, went into play mode. Not sure how to do any AI, as of yet. However, I took control of the dino and had him or her roam about. (Amazing visuals.) And, a peculiar thing happened. That fox came running over and followed. All the while, staring upwards...right at the dino's butt as I roamed the character about. Haven't a clue why. But, it was downright hilarious.
This Dreams engine could be a lot of fun to figure out, for sure.
This Dreams engine could be a lot of fun to figure out, for sure.
I just woke up from the most random of random dreams, ever.
General | Posted 6 years agoI'm sure that we're all familiar with how dreams tend to go. This one...did not tend to do that. In fact, it was more like a TV skit. Two ladies are walking down a path in some garden. One has this plan to surprise her friend, however. See, her friend has this addiction to beer. Quite a strong one. And this garden is really apart of a whole program to step people down from the addiction, one step at a time. So, the first woman springs this surprise program on her friend as they approach this stream. Mind you, it's all clearly a staged scene, so this stream is more like standing water. A very small boat is on said stream and both ladies enter it as a man quickly approaches to hand the first lady this serving prop with a tall can of liquor and the serving dish has this cage-like bunch of spikes that surround the can. Both ladies take this boat ride up the stream as the first lady pushes the boat along the way. They both were expecting this staged river to go a bit further as it only goes around a couple bends to wind up several feet away from the starting point along the same path. The first lady says a few lines as her friend takes the serving tray. Then plays along for a short bit before mentioning something about how the lines were flubbed. The first gal replies that her character was suppose to be the one whom was getting off the addiction. So...they go and spring the real gag of the skit and start playing the whole scene out in reverse. Backtracking over their lines, they row back down the staged stream, hand the tray off to the guy, walk backwards back along the trail to reach the beginning bit about arriving to said set.
Trust me. I've simplified all that. But, it was a rather well constructed dream skit and it's all fading. I can't remember any of the more vivid details, already. I don't think it holds any secret meanings. But what a weird, random dream to wake up to.

What do you mean 'leave the road', miss GPS?
General | Posted 6 years agoSo...the other week, I was out on a country drive with the GPS running as the back seat. Set it to go to a rest stop. Now, this road was parallel to the freeway. Yet, I ponder why at a point when there is a left turn that could go to an on-ramp, it recommended to take a slight right, instead. I shrug and take it's advice. After all, it has the maps. It knows where to go.
Maybe not.
Going about three-plus miles down this road, I suddenly hear this command to 'Leave the road'. Just eyeballing the area, there was no dirt path around. In fact, to reach the rest area would have required tunneling under the freeway, itself.
And that only reconfirms my fear in letting technology be the driver in these new self driving cars. What if 'it' was hard wired into this GPS software and interpreted this odd 'Leave the road' command. I tend to think it would have driven right into a ditch...rather mindlessly.
Opinions?

General | Posted 7 years agoHmm...a G rated movie that would be Mature by FA standards??
General | Posted 7 years agoThe reviewer has unEarthed something from the graveyard of Disney's film vault, all right. More of an acquired film then an outright production. Still, it borders on so many categories that it would work well as a midnight showing at some convention's movie viewing room. Have the birds and the bees been so kinky?
FA+
