End of Uni Term, Furlandia, Twitter, and upcoming fursuit!
General | Posted 9 years agoIt's been been a long while since the previous update, so here it goes!
----
Drifted: 3D Animated Short Preview
----
For the past half-year, I've been working on an 3D animated short. Most of it is now complete, and all that remains now is final polishing touches. It will feature a story idea and characters that Ruolina and I have developed over the past years. The animation should be fully polished and released during this summer.
You can see a small sneak peak of my upcoming animation here (Be sure to click on full view): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23687014/
----
End of Uni Spring Term 2017
----
With the 3D animation nearly done (And already showcased for the final class presentation), this marks the end of my first term at Purdue University. I have a better sense of my personal direction in my major, in which I'm probably going to continue to learn more on digital animation from both a technical and artistic viewpoint.
I've also been chilling with Purdue_Furs whenever I got time. It's really sad that right when I got to get to know some people better, they have already graduated. I've only wished I've met you all sooner, but I'm still grateful to have been a part of the community.

Furlandia and Midwest Furfest Plans
----
On the way to visit my family, I happened to be able to catch Furlandia. It was my first ever true furry-con experience despite my short visit (only was there for 4 hours on Sunday), but I enjoyed my time here! I was a bit culture-shocked at first with all of the fursuits running around. After I overcome my shyness though, I got to socialize and really know other furries in the fandom. Many artists I met has given me plenty of advice for me and my future pieces, as well as mentioning how I could vendor in the future too.
I will also most likely be able to attend Midwest Furfest 2017 from Dec 1-3. Furlandia was a great first-con experience for me, and I'm personally looking forward to MFF and it's massive crowd of furs.
----
Upcoming Fursuit!
----
It's pretty much confirmed now that I have a commission fursuit partial in the works! Xeshaire Creations ( http://www.xeshaire.com/ ) is making my shark-sona Jusfei ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23619871/ ). I really stoked to see how my char turns out in the end! Xeshaire has done a good jump with dragons and sergals before, so I'm confident that she'll do a good job here too.
----
Twitter
----
I have a Twitter account, where I showcase various art/furry related things. You can find me at https://twitter.com/CJusfei
Now I'm going to sit back, relax, and get some artwork out before I have to return to Purdue in a couple weeks to help out with a research project.

Update on my current status / art slowdown
General | Posted 9 years agoWell I haven't really made an official post of myself here, so I probably should at this point...
Hey! To those who didn't know me yet, I just started towards a Masters in Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University just several weeks ago. I've always wanted to shift from pure software engineering into a field that's more about creative usage of technology, so this program is a really good fit for me! As of a result, I simple won't have time to make as many drawings, and certainly not the paintery styles that I used to do a lot in the past. Since I've never really focused on a quick-style, it will be a challenge for me to transition towards less-detailed but stylized pieces. I'm still experimenting a lot, but this has also lead to a lot of art blocks as well. Because I'm back at uni, I do not plan to open commissions anytime soon until I feel like I have sufficient time.
One big project I'm currently working on is going to be a short 3D-animated film. Since I'm working on my film independantly and I have full creative control, it's going to feature a brief story that Ruolina and I had planned out for a while. As a result, the short will feature a couple of our OC's! From someone who has had barely any official experience in modeling and animating, the process is a big challenge to me. I'll post any worthy updates time to time here, but all of the details will be organized at http://chengjustin7.wixsite.com/cgt341 for sure.
I'm also involved with Purdue's PAAC ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/purduefurs ), because I'm surprised that there's an actual official furry meet on my campus. It's neat to finally be able to participate in a place where I actually do share a common ground with other students (because it honestly felt like I had nothing in common with anyone I met in my undergraduate years lol).
So far the start of 2017 has been a lot of work, but I'm actually excited about what I can achieve rather than my undergraduate years which honestly felt like a drag.
