Dragoneer
Posted a year agoBy now you've probably heard the news that
passed away today.
I had been following his health updates for a while, and it was very scary seeing what he was going through, and how long it was taking for doctors to treat him. We don't know the details yet of what happened, but I can't help but feel this was the result of the costs and delays in the American healthcare system. Even though I was really concerned for his health, it's still surreal to find out he's gone. I'm honestly in shock.
Furaffinity has been absolutely integral to the fandom for nearly 20 years. Like many artists, I got my start here, found my friends here, and even met the love of my life here. I would not be where I am today, making a living from my artwork, talking with my wonderful friends and such a kind community, without this site. It's unfathomable to imagine life without it, and Dragoneer was always there, fighting so hard and making so many sacrifices to keep the site running, whether people were grateful or not.
We all owe a debt to Dragoneer, and Furaffinity is his legacy. I really hope that there are plans to continue funding it and keeping it operational, because I consider it the main furry art and community site, and it's the most dependable and resourceful furry art gallery there is. It absolutely needs to keep going, and I know Dragoneer would want that.
I never met Dragoneer in person, but I felt his presence through this site for all those years. I'll continue to think of him every time I come here. Furaffinity and him were integral to each other, and in turn were integral to the fandom and many thousands of lives. This site, and the community it fostered, have had a ripple effect throughout the world that's far too big to measure. It was largely because of his steadfastness at keeping the site going, and supporting artists that are the lifeblood of the community, that the furry fandom is as big as it is today. He completely changed my life for the better, and I'm certain many others would say the same.
Rest In Peace, 'Neer. You will be missed.

Posted 3 years agoWow, a journal! Haven't made one of these in a while.
is making French translations of my publicly-available comics! The first is My Nightly Tutor, which is a shorter comic. Plans are to do longer comics in the future. I will update this journal with links to the new comics as they go online. If you can read French, check it out!

Olivia Comic Announcement
Posted 6 years agoHey everyone. As some of you may have heard, the Katbox is shutting down as a webhost. What this means is that I will no longer be posting my Olivia series on there.
What will happen to the comic? Well, I'll be moving it to here!
Starting tomorrow, I will start posting double updates of my Olivia comic every Wednesday, going back to Misplaced Virtues. I want to fast-track updates to catch up to where the Katbox posts were at, and then I'll go to a regular posting schedule.
If you don't want to wait, you can always join my patreon and get the whole thing early. The comic is funded by patrons, so every little bit helps.
There's also digital and physical collected editions of the comics, on my LateNightGrind webstore, and Furplanet, respectively.
As for the Olivia Comic domain, I'm looking into making a kind of resource hub with character bios and information in the future. I don't really want to bother trying to maintain a webcomic site again, especially since traffic/interaction there would pale in comparison to FA readership anyway.
Hope you'll enjoy the deluge of orxy smut :P

AC 2019!
Posted 6 years agoKaylii and I are returning for Anthrocon this year! Here's the deets!
Where are you staying?
The Omni
Who will you be rooming with?

What is the best way to find you?
Find me in the Dealer's Den at Table P-13!
What are you selling?
Comics, artbooks, pin, stickers, maybe some mousepads too!
Will you be suiting?
Nope. Not my thing!
How can I find you?
Twitter UnknownKadath is the best way to see updates during the con!
Otherwise, I'll be in the Dealer's Den at table P-13, chugging coffee and selling art and books!
What is your gender?
Male
Can I talk to you?
Please do! During dealer den hours, I'll be at the table, unless I escape to go say hi to people or get sustenance!
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If invited. Please don't be offended if you aren't. I have a lot of friends I only see once a year at this con so we don't always want a big party with us. Plus, often plans change in the blink of an eye and everyone can't be accommodated.
Can I hug you?
Please don't if I don't know you, unless I offer first. I'm also cool with handshakes!
Are you nice?
I'm often told that I'm very friendly and approachable. I love meeting people at conventions!
How long are you going?
Leaving Monday morning.
Can I take your picture?
Please don't! This also goes for my table and merchandise.
See you at AC!

Posted 8 years agoTime for the annual Anthrocon journal!
A note about this year: Now that I live on the west coast, it's costly to travel to AC. This will likely be my last year at AC for a while, so I will *not* be taking commissions. I want to have more free time to see people, so I don't want to be stuck in my hotel room working the whole time X3

AC 2015 Meme Thingy!
Posted 10 years agoHello everyone! I will be at Anthrocon 2015! Kaylii and I will be in the dealer's den, tables N-06/N-07. Please stop by! We have comics, commissions and lots of random giraffe trivia to share!
I condensed the meme to just basic stuff:
Q: When will you be arriving and leaving?
A: Thurs Afternoon - Monday Morning
Q: Who will you be rooming with?
A: Kaylii, Ritts, Jinash and Lobito!
Q: Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
A: During dealer den hours, I'll be at the table, unless I escape to go say hi to people or get sustenance!
Q: Will you be drinking and/or getting drunk?
A: Not really a party person! But I'll probably be getting a caffeine high :P
Q: What is your gender?
A: Questionably Giraffe
Q: If I see you, how should I get your attention?
A: Just come up and say hello! Both Kaylii and I have 'German face', so we may look naturally stern, but don't let that dissuade you, we're quite friendly!
Q: Do you own a fursuit?
A: Nope. Not my thing!
Looking forward to seeing everyone! :D

FA Submission Issues + Art Blog
Posted 11 years agoRecently, every time I try to submit an image to FA, the site takes a while to process, and then it crashes. In addition to this, I've noticed (as have others) that there's been a noticeable decline in pageviews and comments since this started happening. It's worrisome to others and myself that we are trying to showcase our art on this site, but it's not getting into people's inboxes because of the site having issues.
This is not a 'leaving FA' journal, but I wanted to remind people that I run an art blog over on tumblr that includes sketches and personal pieces I don't post on FA. You can find the blog here: http://latenightgrindblog.tumblr.com/
Are my pictures not showing up in your inbox? Let me know.

- Upon receiving a slot, I will contact you and we will arrange email communication to discuss your commission, prices, payment, etc.
- If you want to use my characters in the pics, that's fine. But keep in mind they won't do things that are out-of-character for them.
- I will NOT draw: hard vore, scat, watersports, cub, guro, sounding, hyper, or any extreme stuff. Look at my gallery if you want to see what I normally draw. Or just ask! I'll be respectful in my reply :3
- I reserve the right to cancel and refund your commission if I find our working relationship disagreeable. No refunds on completed works.
- Unless you specifically ask these remain private, I reserve the right to post these on my online galleries and/or include in art bundles or collections of my work for sale. If you want the commission to be private, I will require a $25 fee since I cannot post the art online or include in future art collections.

Private Training: Donation Drive for a Move!
Posted 11 years agoKaylii and I are moving to the East Coast later this month, which will be across the country from where we are now. It's going to be pretty expensive, so we're doing a donation drive image series to help cover some of the costs. We did a donation drive last year for Kaylii's wisdom teeth surgery and that was a success, so we are hoping to have similar success with this donation drive.
The first image in the set is being posted today (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13452019/) and will have information about the image set and how to donate. There's also a list of the rewards, which include working resolution and textless images from the drive, digital portfolios and commissions.
We decided to include our most popular ladies for this image set, so Puzzle and Robyn will be featured together in a harem setting, where Robyn is training Puzzle to be part of the harem :P Kaylii is doing the inks and I'm doing the colours. The image set gets naughtier as it goes along.
We hope you'll enjoy the image set, and please consider donating to our moving fund. Any little bit helps and is very appreciated. Thank you!

What's Been Going On! (Comics, Commissions, Moving and More)
Posted 11 years agoWhew, been a while since I last made a journal!
First off I wanted to thank everyone for making both my webstore LateNightGrind.com and my recent comic project, Misplaced Virtues, big successes! I'm extremely grateful for your generosity and support, and it's allowed me to continue making comics and art for your enjoyment. Thank you!
After I completed the marathon work schedule on Misplaced Virtues in February, I got majorly burnt out. I've slowly been recovering from it. This is partly why I haven't been doing a lot of commissions. I plan on doing more soon though, probably in the summer. I don't want to give the impression that just because my comics and store are doing well that I won't be opening commissions anymore. I still do some that are part of series for longtime clients, but I want to offer more when I'm feeling fresh and spirited again.
I'm determined to finally get Londoners started this year. Londoners is a free webcomic project that revolves around my cast of characters (Puzzle, Diamond, Nightshade, Patrick, etc.). It will be a kind of comedy/drama slice of life strip, and while I wanted to get it online before Anthrocon, I think I might wait until Fall to debut it. I might also do a Patreon for it, and offer bonus stuff like sketch commissions, streams and more as rewards. I also have an Olivia webcomic project in the works, which is tentatively titled Vermilion, and that will probably debut in 2015 and will be more experimental and dark.
All of this is kinda revolving around a big event later this month, as Kaylii and I are planning on moving to the East Coast this May. It's going to be pretty expensive, so we're thinking of doing a donation drive image series to help fund it. It'll be similar to the donation drive we did last year for Kaylii's wisdom teeth surgery. We'll do rewards like last time, with high res files, comics and commissions as rewards. We'll have more information on that soon, but I think you'll like the theme of the donation drive... let's just say it will feature a crossover of two leading ladies :p
So, lots of stuff going on. Lots of projects, a big move, webcomics, etc... whew! This has definitely been a front-loaded year. Hope you have enjoyed the comics and art so far, and I hope you'll like the donation drive and webcomic projects we have in the works! :3

==================
I'm opening for a limited set of commissions. Here are the styles and prices:
http://www.furaffinity.net/commissions/kadath/
COMMENT BELOW if you want one. I will not look at shouts or notes. I will chose the first five who ask for a commission, and we can sort out details of what you'd like later.
Some notes:
- G-XXX content.
- Immediate payment required upfront. If you can't pay, you will be taken off the list.

[Done!]Happy Belated Halloween! And Comic Survey Results...
Posted 12 years agoHappy (belated) Halloween! I spent the holiday watching the first third of Attack on Titan. I think it's great so far. I love how over the top all the emotions are, especially over sometimes very mundane things. Somebody in that show could knock over a glass of water and have an earth-shattering existential crisis about it.
Anyway, here are the results of the Comic Survey. Thank you so much for your input!
Results:
Puzzle and Diamond Comic 108 Votes
Somebody New 65 Votes
Nightshade and Patrick Comic 62 Votes
Olivia Comic 55 Votes
So obviously (and not surprisingly) Puzzle and Diamond won out by a wide margin. The rest are pretty close to each other. The 'Somebody New' comic is something I've had planned out since...2009? It's been mothballed for a long time, and I was thinking of bringing it out again. I'm further along with it than the Puzzle/Diamond comic, but the latter got more votes/interest.
I may just try to do both comics somewhat concurrently, focusing on finishing one first before finalising the other, but sketching and inking them at the same time. The other comics I'll work on later in 2014.
Thanks again for the input. I hope you'll enjoy the comics :3

Get your character drawn by me in a FREE commission raffle!
Posted 12 years agoRaffle will go until midnight PST, Sunday the 29th. If under 100 entries by then, it will be extended until Wednesday, the 2nd of October (again at Midnight PST).
This is a special raffle for
. He commissioned me for a colour sketch commission at Rainfurrest, and he wants it to be a two character piece of somebody with his character (clean or adult context). He has PAID IN ADVANCE for the second character and wanted to put up a FREE raffle to have that character chosen from entries in this journal.
If you want to enter the raffle, these are the rules for entry:
Post a comment in this journal with the following information:
References of your character
Image rating (clean, mature, adult)
Theme, if any (example: playing videogames)
OPTIONAL: Spread the word about this journal through your own journal, and put your journal link in your comment. This will get you TWO entries for the raffle. (comments in other journals do not count for entries)
Credentials must be met to be eligible.
Waffles' character reference: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11705569/
His character is straight, so if you want the image to be adult, he will only be featured with females. If a clean picture, any gender is fine.
I will not draw extreme stuff like scat, vore, cub, etc...if you've seen my art, you know the drill. If unsure about something, just ask.
Again, this commission has already been paid for. You're getting your character drawn for free if you get chosen. Winner will be randomly chosen using a number generator.
If you have questions about theme, content, etc., pleaase contact Waffles on his FA page:
Good luck!

Big Update - What's Been Going On With Me
Posted 12 years ago'Where the hell have you been, Kad?!' Well, funny you should ask...
It's been a while since I last did a journal. I've been pretty quiet the past few months, and I have a lot to cover, so I'll just get started!
Health Issues
Since late March, I've been dealing with some issues in my leg. I had some muscle aches and swelling behind my left knee. I went to the doctor and he said it was tendinitis and prescribed me some anti-inflammatory meds. I went through those and a refill pack, and while it got better, the swelling and aches returned, and got worse. I went to a different doc and she said it was possibly a baker's cyst, and scheduled me with a specialist. At this point I couldn't even sit at my chair for more than a few minutes without being in pain, which effectively ground my drawing to a halt. I saw the specialist and she said I had no noticeable issues - no inflammation, cysts, muscle, bone, joint or ligament issues. She did an ultrasound on my leg and found no problems. She wondered if it was a pinched nerve, and prescribed some oral steroids.
I finished those as of yesterday, and despite making me incredibly moody/depressed, I don't know if the meds really did as much. What I think *did* help was a rigid schedule of bedrest, walking, stretching and strengthening exercises, hot baths and using hot and cold compresses. I did some of these before, but now I'm doing them consistently and spending little (if any) time at my desk, and now I've noticed a marked improvement.
I've been told by friends that I may have sciatica, but that usually involves a herniated disc or a lower back nerve having issues - and I have zero problems with my lower back. The real trouble spot is my left pelvic joint, and the thigh, and that's where I've been concentrating the healing procedure at. The more that spot gets stretched or warmed, the better I feel, so I think it's possible I have a pinched nerve in the joint, or the muscles just got super tense. At least, I'm hoping that's it, and it's nothing that requires surgery. At least I'm feeling better, so that's a good sign.
This whole thing was started by the chair I was using at the time. It was an old chair, and the seat was flat. Despite adding a pillow for cushioning, it was still awkward, forcing me to sit in ways that would either make me slouch or put more pressure on my knees. I think this just gradually caused the issues I've been dealing with this year. I got a new chair, too.
So, that's why I've been so distant the past 4 or 5 months. It's been tough for me to sit for more than a few minutes without distracting discomfort/borderline pain. I had to buckle through it to get my Anthrocon books ready in time, but that really made it harder on me. I apologise for not getting back to people's comments or questions sooner.
Anthrocon
I wanted to give a belated thank you to everyone who stopped by the dealer table or otherwise hung out with Kaylii and I at AC 2013! It was a pleasure talking to many of you, and I had a great time, and was able to keep my mind off my leg problems during most of the con. The whole weekend is kind of a blur for me, but it was because we were busy but having a lot of fun. Hope everyone had no issues arriving home safely after the con!
Website
So I launched a website the day the convention started, but... I'm actually shifting my digital comics and such over to a different site. A lot of people are asking about this, but I can't say much at the moment. I'll be doing some promotions for it when it goes live, which should be later this month. Please stay tuned for news!
~~~
So, that's pretty much what's been going on this year for me. It's been pretty rough at times, but I'm hoping things are finally all calming down and I can get back to work as normal. I've got some pretty sweet stuff I'm looking forward to sharing with you, so I hope when things get back on track, I can start showing updates on some of these projects I'm working on. Thanks for reading!
Unnamed Podcast Episode 0!
Posted 12 years ago
and I are starting up a podcast! This first one is gaming focused, specifically about the PS4 announcement. In future installments, we'll discuss film, TV shows, comics and other geeky things. Give it a listen and tell us what you think! We need a name, so if you have ideas for what we can call this show, let us know in the comments below (NO NOTES!) :3Wisdom Teeth Donation Goal Reached!
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone,
We've already reached our donation drive goal! Wow, we're not even halfway through the image set yet! Thank you very much to everyone who donated, spread the word, and showed support. You guys are awesome.
Of course, the image set is not over yet. We'll continue posting the images as quickly as we can. We'll also leave the donation link open for those that want to contribute additional funds, as we only intended to take donations for the surgery itself, but every little bit helps with things like doctor visits, x-rays, etc.
has a more detailed journal about all this, which I suggest checking out:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4318008/
Thanks again for your help!! :D
