I've decided to completely and permanently move my activity over to Weasyl. You can find me there with the username "Kai" for my personal account, and "OceanWolf" for my fursuit business account.

Saturday Update!

Bella paws are DONE. Here they are: paws!
Tail and head edits are continuing tonight. Bella, you will need to come up to my workshop to do the last fitting (all I need to adjust is the length of the legs where they meet the paws). We can do this when you want to pick up the suit on Monday.
Essh, I'll need your body, tail, and feet back to finish them up very soon!
Jack, I will move onto your head furring in the meantime if Essh delays dropping off his suit. (Essh, if this does happen, I will switch back onto working on your suit as soon as it arrives. Just wanting to save time.)
Feeling positive about progress =)

This week has been a bit of a challenge when it comes to available time. I haven't been able to get much work in at all =(
Apologies. Working full-time and commuting all over the city takes away a lot of my available time. To compensate for this week's problems, I'll be in my workshop this Sunday/Monday (normally those are the days off).
Bella: paws still coming along. You have claws! Also, I now know how to make awesome plushy claws :3
And since you mentioned it, here's an easy way to access my detailed updates:

This update is pretty boring. Basically I've been doing a bunch of small detail work - stuff that hasn't resulted in any new finished pieces, but is essential to the quality of the costume.
This means, for all practical purposes, I'm still working on Bella's feet and tail. Head edits will be next, followed by Essh edits.
I hope those reading this are finding some time to enjoy this sunny weekend =)

Updates!
--Finished Bella body this week. And I think it would be a good idea for you to try it on soon! Unfortunately, I won't be able to do drop-off and pick-up at your place... would it be possible for you to come by my workshop some time this week? I'll be there on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday all day, and Fri-Sat in the afternoons/evenings. If you can, bring the tail with you. It's time to decide where it goes on the bodysuit.
--Essh is still out. Have fun, but don't forget you have to bring him back so I can finish him XD
--Jack: thanks for keeping me on track with the journal updates! And I'm looking forward to the challenge that your head will present. Still looking at it every day, because it's set up on my main work bench while I sew on the floor.

Some of you may have already noticed, I'm in the beginning stages of cleaning out my gallery here. For anyone who has faved anything in my gallery, you will still be able to find it in the future. I'm not deleting things outright - instead, I'm replacing images with placeholders and leaving a link to the image's new home =)
Weasyl is now my primary art site, and so far I have about half of my submissions from FA uploaded over there. I have been plagued with a slow Internet connection lately, so I've been moving just a few each day.
For the time being, I'm putting everything on my personal account Kai-Wolf, but once I'm settled in there properly I will upload fursuit-specific things to my business account OceanWolf.

Yes, it's true. I'm finally fed up enough to leave FA. It's actually been a long time coming, and I have my reasons, as do many users (especially right now). The full-on sale of Furaffinity to IMVU is, to me, the beginning of the end.
I'd like to announce that from now on, I will no longer be uploading new content to my FurAffinity account, "Kai."
WITH ONE EXCEPTION: I will continue to post journal updates for my current fursuit commissioners. I do not expect you all to want to go to Weasyl to keep in touch with me, and it would be unfair of me to force the issue.
I'm fairly certain that I will eventually delete my uploads to FA as well, and move them all over to Weasyl. Although it is a bit sad to leave my small, but growing, list of watchers behind, I feel confident that the Weasyl community is a better-functioning place for my online art.
I now have two Weasyl accounts. My personal account is Kai-Wolf, and my business account is OceanWolf. Expect a slow start to my galleries and forum activity, because I am a slow person and my current focus is on completing my fursuit commission work.

The "OH GOD IT'S SUNDAY" Saturday journal update!

As you may have guessed from the title, I sailed blissfully through Saturday, thinking "Oh man, I'm getting so much work done :D"
Little did I realise, I'd forgotten to post my journal update. And right after I promised you I would! So, here it is. Better late than never?
It's been one week since VF ended, and I'm thoroughly recovered from that craziness and ready to work. Additionally, I cleaned my workspace! You can see the floor in there again!! Making a handy little patch of floor where I can use the sewing machine.
Sewing machine update: I think I've figured out a truce with my current machine. It no longer jams up, but it still skips stitches now and then. I don't know what's the matter with it, but I figure that it's definitely useable, as long as I inspect every seam I sew for gaps, and go over those spots again. Bella, thank you for lending me your machine while I figured mine out. You can take it back to your place whenever you like, and I'll keep it safely stashed in the meantime.
Fursuits update: I'm currently working on Bella's bodysuit, then I will move on to Bella and Essh's footpaws. More news to come as things are completed. What would you all think of progress pics posted to my Twitter?

Yeah! If I can get everybody's stuff done in time, I'm going to have an absolute blast!!

No, I'm not ready to start dealing at cons, but maybe one day!
(3) What does this year’s theme mean to you?
It means I really wish I had enough time to find a puffy red vest and a hoverboard. C'mon people, it's 2015!!!
(4) How are you getting to the hotel?
I live in Vancouver, so probably gonna skytrain or get a ride from my wonderful husband.
(5) What are your con plans?
Well, I'm super excited to reconnect with all my con buddies, and I'm definitely attending a couple of panels (although I never do as many as I think I will)! Definitely going to fursuit, definitely going to dance, probably going to do at least a little bit of drawing. I'll be at the con Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, although I work in the early morning so the soonest I'll arrive each day is probably noon D:

Wolf - specifically, coastal grey wolf, a subspecies of wolf found only on the Pacific coast! I'll talk your ears off about them if you wanna know more :D
(7) Are you talented?
I don't really believe in talent; I think it comes from skill. Anyone can practice enough to get skills :D
(8) Do you fursuit?
Yes! And one day, I'll have a full suit, and maybe it will even be of my actual species this time XD
(9) Do you drink?
Yes, and especially at cons. My preferred drink is rum.

I'm back from El Salvador!

Hello everyone, I landed back in Canada last night, and went to my day job today! I am now back in my workshop and able to contact people once again. However, my phone will not send outgoing calls or messages right now. I ask that you give me a phone call for anything urgent, and contact me via FA or email for the usual stuff.
STATUS:
Buck Rabbit - I'll see you after your convention circuit and have the extra tail ready. Have fun out there!
Bella - I'm resuming work on your bodysuit today. I saw your cake!! Congrats, and thank you for your visit just before the trip, I appreciate it.
Essh - I know you are concerned about the suit deadline. But I'd be a lot more comfortable just setting VF as the deadline for everyone's stuff! Please send me a note or an email and we can discuss? Also, are we still ready to do a room share at VF? I'm still in if you are!
Jack - I received all your texts last night, and read your emails today. If the tail lump is really bad, I will have a look at it, but please be advised your tail is now finished. I've done many revisions for you free of charge, and I just don't have time to keep going back to the same project when I have so many other things to get done. Your tail is made with poly-fill stuffing, which can become unevenly distributed over time (especially with bouncing around and hugging tails, etc). The best thing to do is to attempt to re-distribute the stuffing a little by "massaging" the tail from the outside.
I'll be getting the underskull of your head started in the next few days.

As some of you are aware, there is a previously unexpected event happening in my life that will be taking me away from fursuit making for the last part of this month.
My mother has decided that I am to go with her on a trip she has been planning. She bought me a plane ticket to El Salvador as my christmas present! Therefore, I will be out of the country for the dates of January 20th to February 2nd. I am excited about the trip of course, but also concerned about the fact that it will slow me down even further on your commissions.
In the 9 days leading up to the trip, I will be working as much and as often as I can. I will be aiming to get Bella completed and delivered before I have to leave. I am leaving on the day of the 20th, so the 19th is the last day I can deliver items.
Buck rabbit, Essh, and Jack - I will resume work on your items as soon as I return from the trip. Everyone will have costumes to wear at VF this year.
Thank you for your patience with me, and you are welcome to ask any questions as always!

I am now back in town, having returned tonight from a rather long drive across Allison Pass via the Hope-Princeton highway. It was slow going due to the snow, and we saw more than a couple of vehicles stranded or crashed along the side of the road. I'm relieved we made it safely. I hope everyone reading had a safe and warm holiday as well, and maybe even a chance to relax a little :D

I only just got back, so status is the same as last week.

News
I'm going out of town for my holiday visits with family! I will be gone from the 19th to the 26th. Additionally, I may not be able to accept text messages while I'm away, because my cell network is not always supported in the areas I travel. I will be back on the 27th, and once holiday season is over, I ought to also have more hours free to work on suit stuff :)
Current Status
Is pretty much the same as last update. Bella now has foam carved feet paws, and they are coming along quite nicely. I should be ready to add fur to them in one or two more days of work. Bella body still needs more carving though. Everyone else, same as last week.

Current Status
Is pretty much the same as last update. Bella now has foam carved feet paws, and they are coming along quite nicely. I should be ready to add fur to them in one or two more days of work. Bella body still needs more carving though. Everyone else, same as last week.

News:
I have assigned a new structure to my work week. From now on, I will be doing fursuit work on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Sundays and Mondays are now officially closed off to fursuit work, as the shop's main building is closed on those days and it is a hassle to arrange entry. (Note: Please confirm with me ahead of time if you are wanting to visit the shop. I can't guarantee I will be able to meet with you every time, because meetings take up a lot of time for me, and also because the store owner does not want excessive visitors in here.)
These journal entries will now be posted every Saturday, since that is the last day before my "weekend" and it will be a week-in-review for you all.
And onto the current status:
Bella: I am still working on your digi leg padding, and making the body pattern. Everything is going smoothly so far, but apologies for the delay. The past week has been bad for me, but that is over now and I'm able again to focus on work. Bella head is being worked on in these areas: neck, back of head closure, airbrushing black and pink, possibly new eyes, new nose! I will also have to re-align your jaw, but that will be last and it MAY involve more fittings. But I'm not sure about that part yet. Bella feet and body are next!
Essh: The new plastic eyes experiment seems to be going well. I'll have to say in my next update whether they worked out 100% though. Essh head is being worked on in these areas: nostrils, neck, back of head closure. I think I will also need to adjust your jaw, it looked like it wasn't properly lined up at Howl. Essh feet and tail are next in line after Bella fullsuit.
Jack: Your tail is looking very zig zaggy, which is a good thing. Because the zigzags take such a long time to sew, I'm alternating between Bella's foam carve and your sewing. I expect it will take quite some time yet to finish the tail, since I am having to remove tinsel from each new bit of dark grey fur I add to the zigzag!
Buck Rabbit: I'll likely be setting aside a chunk of time just after New Years to add the new zippers/snaps/fitting changes to Buck's body. Let's coordinate that and I'll toss in a new tail too :)

Rescued a baby crow today!
General | Posted 12 years agoThis morning, I went into the back yard and saw something rustling around inside my landlord's open bag of horticultural sand. Seeing that the rustling continued when I got closer, I figured a rat or a squirrel had somehow gotten into the bag and couldn't escape. I took a closer look and saw that it was actually a crow, just sitting inside the bag, on top of the sand! It was trapped, pecking at the plastic walls and acting distressed.
I went inside and got some gloves, my camera, and Vincent. Then we went outside and helped the little guy out of the bag. I reached in with gloves on, expecting it to bite or poke me with its beak. But it just let me grab it, even though it squawked and struggled a bit. I put it on the ground next to the bag, and stood back. We could see it was just a little crow, with a short tail and a high-pitched voice! It stumbled away from us a short distance, then began to regain its composure. It hopped up onto a wall, then jumped over onto the backyard fire pit, looking at us. It made some caws, calling to its family. We stayed with it for a few minutes, hoping mum and dad crow would come help it. Vincent retrieved some bread and tried to toss a few bits at the baby, but it didn't understand.
After a few more minutes, we heard adult crows cawing, and the baby responded! Soon, a big crow swooped down and landed in a nearby tree. Another one joined it, and they moved to a power line hanging over our yard. The two of them cawed in quick succession, causing the baby to make many cries and ask for food. But the adults just kept cawing, until finally the baby fluttered up onto the trellis, nearer to them. Once we had backed away a bit more, the baby received some food from one of the parents.
Remember, if you find a baby bird, its parents are probably around and keeping an eye on it!! Never try to capture one unless you're 100 percent sure it's been abandoned. Our story had a happy ending, so we're lucky... we don't have to take in a hungry baby crow! We wonder if that crow will remember us?

> I'm pretty alright with hugs. Even surprise hugs! But no surprise hugs when I'm in fursuit, it's kind of scary.

> I will probably be drawing stuff in the main hangout room whenever I'm not interested in the panels going on at the time. Or I'll be wearing my coyote suit, especially while dancing. Other than that, I have short dark hair, and I'll probably be wearing something fairly normal and carrying a backpack.

> Yes. In fact, please do! It gets weird when everyone just hangs out with their own little groups.

Whoa, sudden influx of new watchers!
General | Posted 12 years agoHello to all of you! And thanks for watching my work <3 I don't know where you all come from, but it sure is nice to see there are people around! It motivates me when I know people care.
New uploads are coming soon, I promise! But not until I do a bunch more cutting, brushing, sewing, trimming, and gluing. WHEW! There's fake fur in all my food, too.
