Haha, I couldn't help but reference my last journal title. Hey ya'll! Kai here with a life update. Not sure if anyone that follows me is even active anymore, but oh well. This is as much for me as you guys ha

I still write about video games! The site I worked for from June '14 to July '15 folded unfortunately though, so I no longer write for them. Instead I'm now writing for GameZone (www.gamezone.com/users/april-marie). I'm doing pretty much exactly the same thing there, just a different company. I write news, reviews, and soon I'll hopefully have a few opinion/ editorial pieces up.

The site I used to work for (TechnologyTell's Gaming Channel/ GamerTell) sent me to E3 this past June with a bunch of my other coworkers. So that was an AMAZING experience. I never dreamed I'd get to attend E3 within my first year in this business. I'm hoping against hope that I'll be able to attend again next year.

In other, almost unrelated news, I made contact with someone at E3 that has led to another job. Now I also write for DreadCentral. It's a site revolving around horror in all it's forms, but my focus is specifically on anime at the moment (http://www.dreadcentral.com/author/april-marie/).

For now I'm hoping to take a little much deserved break from freelance writing to work a little on Kojo's story <3

Goodness, I haven't been able to be near as active on FA as I would dearly like to :(

My life is currently consumed by video games and writing haha. I'm working as a freelance writer for Technology Tell's Gaming Channel, and have been since June 2014 :) www.technologytell.com/gaming/author/april-marie for any interested! Thanks to GT I will actually be attending E3 this year too!! :D So that's my crazy news to share with everyone, I'm a furry, and I'm going incognito to E3 lol

On the furry side of things, poor Kai has been confined to the closet for the most part. I hardly have the time to keep up with my (Hopefully) blooming career, so attending furry events has become incredibly hard to pull off.

I am still in talks with one of my favorite builders to potentially have Kojo made into a full suit, but for now she WILL be attending Minneapolis Comic Con again this year in "human" form :) So if you're going to be there be sure to stop me for a photo! :D

EDIT: Totally forgot to mention that I DO plan to continue Kojo's history/ back story. It's almost constantly on my mind, I just need to find the time to devote to it. So please keep looking forward to that :)

Soo. KOJO'S HISTORY!

I said that I would post a little more about her story before I start actually posting it. Well. Here goes.

Kojo is inspired by two very distinct things. Fallout: New Vegas and Linkin Park's album A Thousand Suns.
Hence why Kojo lives in a post-apocalyptic desert world.
And explains why there will be random song lyrics or themes thrown into the story. This will all make plenty of sense when you look at the chapter titles lol


This is extremely unique and most likely only going to be posted here on FA. The chapters are all based around the inspiration I glean from each song on a Thousand Suns, the themes in Fallout, and Kojo's personality. SO! It should make for an interesting read, or at least I hope so! D:



Please, please post on the submissions if you can, because I LOVE FEEDBACK!! Comments and critiques on my writing style are also appreciated but be warned that these are essentially first drafts. I have a habit of sharing first drafts more than any others since it's my true feelings and emotions coming out :)

I'm looking to cast the secondary main character in Kojo's history. I'm a little stumped on species though. The story takes place in a desert style post-apocalyptic wasteland so I'm looking for a desert mammal to play the part.


I'm stumped between a kit fox, gray fox or bobcat for this character. A little about him is that he's very very handsome, muscular in a lean way, but still cunning. I like one of the two foxes for the cunning part but I favor the bobcat for the muscular side.

What do you all think?

So I just spent the better part of my night hunting down the file that contained the beginning of my outline for Kojo's history. Once I finally realized where it was Dx I was able to pick up where I left off just fine :)


Fast forward two hours and my outline is complete!!! :DD



It feels AMAZGASM to get back into writing. It has always come so fluidly for me and I was trying to just do a quick, no take backs outline of the story so that I would be able to have all my ducks in a row when it comes to actually plopping down and writing out the story.


SO! Down to what this means to all of you! lol


Kojo's story will be going into serious production mode here now. It is a very experimental and strange way of writing a history/ back story, but I am very excited for it and even more excited to share it with you all. You'll find out very quickly that it is deeply inspired by two very direct references. I will post a sort of informative journal just before I post the first chapter of the history when it's complete.


There will be fifteen chapters most likely and some will be longer than others. This will be on purpose, and will all make sense in the end :)

Ermahgerd. I had a total freakout moment this morning at work when I looked at weather.com to check the weather. You know how they always have those stupid articles that have nothing to do with the weather? Well I'm glad for them this time because I found the PERFECT location for a Kojo photoshoot.

This is the perfect post apocalyptic desert location to host a Kojo photoshoot!!! Any Egypt furs out there willing to sherpa a tiny Coydog around? lmao

I'm so so so STOKED! that I found a gun on eBay for Kojo <3 <3

While I had originally imagined her as a Colt .45 girl, the gun I found is actually a .44 Colt Dragoon, and call me a fan! lol


Here is a photo of it (not the one I bought, but the same exact model). It's a non-firing Spanish reproduction (which suits my needs just fine). The engravings are a lot crisper and more raised on the one I'm getting however it is missing a piece that is shown in this photo. BUT! on the plus side, the one I'm getting includes a holster and belt which would probably be worth at LEAST $50 on its own.

Feeling very lucky about my purchase and can't wait to take photos of my humanoid Kojo cosplay while wearing the gun and holster! :DD


I will be wearing Kojo with this gun and holster at Comic Con in May! :D If you happen to be going be sure to find me! Not sure which day I'm going to wear it yet however (since I have two other costumes I will be doing at this convention, Harley Quinn and Alice from the 1st Resident Evil).

So I'm hoping to use my 2015 tax return as a huge down payment on a fullsuit for Kojo. If my return is anything like this year, which I expect it will be, it should be a nice chunk of change to use :)

Kojo's tail is already done so what I mean by full suit is everything but the tail. And for those "in the know", I am hoping against hope to have the same person who did her tail do her suit.


Kojo should be a relatively skin tight suit with interesting digitigrade feet since she is meant to be my body type, slender and thin (whereas Kai is the total opposite, tall and muscular XD).


I am sooo excited for this you don't even understand lol



Sometime between now and then I'm hoping to get Kojo's reference done in a Much better style than my poor ass attempt xD Especially since I realized recently that my ref sheet leaves out a crucial element to Kojo's design.

Anyone know of someone who does semi-realistic reference sheets at a decent price? And who can include outfits as well as the basic fur design?

I've gotta say, since college when I used to go to Old Chicago weekly with my buddies, I've been a big Beer Snob. Lately I seem to be becoming more of a wine snob .w. LOOOOOVVES my merlots c':

So now it seems when I'm offered a beer it almost takes a physical effort to enjoy it.

Have any of you ever had this problem? Where something you love to eat or drink seems to become a chore?

Hello all!!!

It has been far too long since I've last written to you all!!! I've gained a few watchers through my hiatus which I am very thankful for and would like to say Thank You once again :)



While I've been absent, much has happened in my life. I've gone through a few jobs, all by my own choice, and all continually better. I've landed myself as the caretaker/ groundskeeper/ leasing agent/ assistant manager at my apartment complex. I wear many hats ;)
While it's not exactly a "dream job", it's perfect for me at the moment, I get to work in the same building I live, which saves money on gas, and I also get a pretty decent discount on rent.



One great, great, GREAT! thing that I have to share is that I have finally adopted a new fuzzy friend! :D Mr. Bojangles is the newest member of my family and he is the sweetest cat I have ever met. I cried long and hard driving him home, asking my Maxie Boy if it was ok that I had found a new friend. I believe that he would be happy for me, and that he would have loved Mr. Bo too :)

I'll upload a picture or two of him, he's an amazing cat and I love his story. He was a stray for most of his life, someone finally saved him but then couldn't keep him for whatever reason. His next owner couldn't keep him because her current cat didn't like him. And now he's mine. When he came to me he had a bad ear infection and what looked like an old bite wound on his neck, which was also infected. I got him to the vet and have been taking care of him since, his fur is already growing back on his neck so that's a very good sign. I'm looking forward to good news on Thursday when I take him to the vet and hope to get him all healed up so he can just enjoy being an indoor cat from now on :)

Hey everyone! Or I should probably say everyone that still watches me ^^;

I obviously did a major poof xD

Since my last update journal, I am still looking for full-time work, I'm still working 30-ish hours a week at the same job I've had since high school, and I am still dating the same wonderful guy <3

However, big news is that I'm moving out of my parent's house in April :)
My boyfriend and I found a place together that we will be leasing starting April 12th. We will most likely not be living there until the weekend of April 27th though since he still has school in the town we live in now through the first week of May.


I currently live in a "metro" of central Minnesota called St. Cloud. I have lived in St. Cloud/ Sauk Rapids my whole life and it was a great place to grow up and blossom, but I've been ready to move on for a while.

I still haven't given up my dream of working in the film world but where I live currently there is little to no opportunity to grow into a career in that field. In Minnesota a filmmaker's best chance lies in Duluth or the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/ St. Paul). I already freeze my tail off in St. Cloud so moving further north was OUT of the question xD

So I will be moving to a suburb of the Twin Cities with my boyfriend the end of May. I'm hoping it will be the beginning of a new chapter in my life, a chapter of learning, growing and independence. Being in my own place will give me the chance to start working on things that I have currently left behind. And being near the Cities will allow me to possibly start interning or volunteering with some production companies.

I am still very much a furry at heart <3 And being near the Twin Cities will give me the opportunity to join more events with the Minnesota Furs group, and my furry friends who live near there, which makes me very happy :)


It's crunch time for me, I have to find a full time job before I move, or else I will be stuck commuting over an hour to work my part time job that is barely above minimum wage. Any luck that you can spare I would greatly appreciate you sending my way! :)
Once I find a job and I'm living in my new place I will be able to use the time that I was previously using to look for jobs on projects, so hopefully I'll be able to post things again soon :)
I'll definitely have some photos and/ or videos of Kai settling in to her new home ^^

Might as well spice up my journal with a YouTube video~! XD I've been listening to N-Dubz a lot lately and Dappy from N-Dubz is working on a solo project. This is the first song he released solo, and the message it carries is important to me right now.

It's important to live your life with no regrets. There are things that happen in everyone's life that they will regret, so don't regret the small things <3



So! I hope everyone is doing well, enjoying their summer so far. I'm sorry to take a break from right when I finally got it started, but I'm having issues with the women's shoes that I was going to use. They will not work for my projects so I need to take a second look at where I will get these from.


I'm spending a lot of time at work, working 30+ hours a week right now, which I really appreciate because its the most I have ever gotten at my job in all my five years there. However, it makes it difficult to do all the projects that I had planned, as well as impedes my search for a full-time job.

This is no excuse though and I am working to look for full-time employment. I'm a little intimidated to apply for jobs that I don't think I'm qualified for, but I need to get over that, and quick XD

My parents are really being wonderfully supportive of my goals to move into my own place soon, and I'm hoping to get to that point soon.



I am in a relationship again. I'm sure some people maybe caught that ^^;
He's an amazing guy and I have No Regrets for dating him so soon after my last relationship. I really do not have faith in myself in being able to sustain a long time relationship, but I am taking the present as it comes and enjoying my time.

We've been officially dating since June 4th, when he danced with me on rose petals in his candle-lit apartment <3

Please continue to watch and support me, hopefully I will be uploading some more recent suit pictures soon <3

Take care of yourselves and spend as much of your time doing what you love as you can <3 And even if you have to do things that you don't want to do, always know that that isn't your whole life. If you work a crappy job, go do something that you've always wanted to do while you're not working.

Life is what you make of it and you don't want to reach the end of your time on this earth with a pile full of regrets.

So things have been a bit crazy as I'm sure you can tell from what my last journal entry was about.


What I haven't mentioned is that I graduated from college. My final GPA was 3.59 so I graduated with mid-level honors.
I applied and had an interview for a paid internship which would be making videos for my local city's county website.
I'm on day five of a seven day work week which will end in about thirty-four total hours of work, which is good because I will not be at work next Monday-Friday due to a family vacation in Wisconsin.


I'm currently enjoying my life! I am hoping to get a positive answer on this internship so that I can move into a small apartment of my own and gain some life experiences in that respect. I'm spending a lot of time with my friends, which I had been missing due to just sitting around at home before. I'm helping edit a student film that was filmed at my college this past year, and I'm making time for a lot of the things I've been wanting to do.
I've taken up rollerblading again and I want to do that pretty regularly, and I'm going to be working on some projects that I've been in-progress with for a while.


One big announcement that I wanted to make is that hopefully very soon you will all be seeing some writing from me!! I haven't been able to do any kind of casual writing in a long while and I've been meaning to start work on an interesting project.

It will be the backstory/ history for my second character Kojo. The interesting part of it though is that Kojo lives in a "Fallout-esque" world, so her history has a lot of Fallout references.
Also, Kojo was deeply inspired by the Linkin Park album "A Thousand Suns" so the history will feature that album a lot. I think of that album and the lyrics from that album as Kojo's history, so you will all see what that means soon ;3

I will put the history up in chapters but will not start uploading until I have a few chapters written so that I can update pretty regularly. I hope you all look forward to it! ^^

I did finish 's shoes as of last Sunday and he received them on Monday since we live in the same city ^^

I'm still not taking any quotes and commissions for my shoes because of how busy I am right now. However, watch if you're interested in being kept updated on that project :3


I'm crazy busy right now, but May will be just as busy. There's yearly things like Mother's Day and my sister's birthday. But there's also the MNFurs spring picnic that I would like to go to, falls on my sister's birthday so we'll see about that =3=



Also, the last week of May I will be away on a vacation with my family to Wisconsin.

'Course after that it will be dead XDD I'll be working my part-time retail job still and working on Kon_Shoes.
But I will also be looking for full-time employment and hopefully working on film projects with the university film community.
