Hey everyone.

First off, Happy 2013 - I hope the new year has been treating you well!

Things have been busy on this end and unfortunately not on music. I'm on track for getting my degree at the end of this calendar year and that's kept me incredibly busy. Work is going well - they're pretty happy with me and it looks like I'll have a job with them once I'm out of school.

feartree helped me get an Oxygen 49 keyboard and I plan on buying FL Studio as soon as the semester is over. I'm ready to start making my own music instead of just mixing other folks' creations. No idea where that'll take me, but I want to give it a try. :)

Looking at the last journal I wrote, two Pawcasts have been released since then. If you didn't know, you can subscribe to the podcast on iTunes so you don't have to wait for me to write about it and share the links here - just search "Kainu Pawcast" and you'll find it.

Episode 54 is a lot more chill than 53, but I think I prefer it between the two. BT's new tune "Skylarking" is spot on - I'm hopeful that it's huge positive reception suggests that as a direction trance will slowly slide into. I like where we are right now.

This episode went through a lot of evolution over the summer and ended up becoming two episodes. Its evil twin will be coming up in the near future, as well as some guestmixes from fellow trance DJ furs.

The same culprits are still responsible for my silence - school and work. I'm almost done with school - so close to graduation. One more year to go.

With the Pawcast, I've been working on "the next episode" since Summer started in my free time. It diverged into two episodes, I think I have about 10 iterations of what it could've been. Expect to see those soon.

With live sets at conventions, I'm not happy with my digital djing setup. I want to move to a CDJ setup but that will take some time to get rolling. So in the mean time, I'll just focus on graduating, the pawcast and music production.

The semester is almost over. Senior project is almost over. I was sick for just about all of October between a cold and bronchitis -- I can only assume, my doctor's office wasn't much help. I moved from NW Atlanta to Downtown this past weekend. I've had a serious case of music block - I think it was caused by stress. But things are getting better now, and I'm feeling worlds better now that the spark in trance/EDM has come back for me.

-- has been fairly crazy over the past few months. I got an internship over the summer that was 40 hours a week and now I'm in the home stretch of my Computer Science degree. Senior Project + internship has occupied most of my waking hours for the past month and I haven't had time to sit down and record another episode. I had a great idea for an End of Summer/Labor Day episode that may still see the light of day but the time's passed and there's a lot more new music out. :)

As far as cons and djing goes, I haven't had much time to plan for them. I'm not sure when my next live gig will be but I think it'll be either in Atlanta or Charlotte, probably not at a convention. I've been saving up for a fursuit so I may be forgoing some cons - just depends on how things go.

Hopefully y'all have been well. :) I miss making music.

Derp. Real life has really gotten ahold of me recently. School's over but I have a full-time job now. It's a bit difficult to balance everything but I had a lot of inspiration today for finishing Pawcast 45, so here is the end result. :)

So school is finally over for the semester. :) I'm not dead. I had to stop the podcast to devote all of my time toward school. It's looking like Pawcast is going to slow down or stop over the next couple of months. It might turn into a monthly podcast, if anything. There's probably not going to be a Pawcast episode this week: My plan was to broadcast my set(s) at FWA, but I botched my recording settings on my computer and didn't realize it until I got home on Monday. (At least I'm hoping it was only the recording settings that messed up and that the global output wasn't as bad as the recording sounded.)

Anyway, I'm super busy with school and work this week so I'm not sure if I'll be able to sit down for a few hours and get an episode together. College sucks. But I'm almost done. Spring Break just started but I had a death in the family so the past few days have been supporting family and recovering from school. I also fell into a pretty difficult music slump over the past few days and I've only just now started crawling out of that. It's a terrible thing to listen to music that I loved and just feel completely distant from it all.

As far as Pawcast itself goes, I have no idea if I'm on the right track or not. I've not heard any feedback as of late. I'd love to hear what I'm doing bad so I can fix it and what I'm doing right so I can do more of it. There's about 90~ downloads on average of each episode so either I'm definitely doing something right or folks just have iTunes set to grab the episode and it sits unopened on their hard drive. (That happens to me a LOT with podcasts I'm subscribed to.)

Just got back from Furry Fiesta. I had a blast with a ton of friends that I only typically see at conventions (and I met plenty of new ones!)

I finished the (late) Pawcast 38 on my flight to Texas but the WiFi at the hotel wasn't free and I'm cheap, so I'm just now uploading it.

To those I played for late Saturday night: I am so sorry I didn't have any 70's disco. Oversight of the year right there, considering the con was Disco Infurno. Next time I'll be more prepared! *shakes fist* Also, that set did not get recorded, so Pawcast 39 will be a regular whatever-new-music-I-find episode.

Pawcast 38 however is a collection of different mixes of tunes I've already played on the show. If any repeats snuck in, I blame Delta's charging for WiFi (and my being cheap to not pay to check my own site to see if I've already played some stuff out.)

Hey everyone,

This weekend I posted about Sporty and what was going on with him ( http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2092079/ .) Just read on FNN that his condition got worse yesterday so he's in North Carolina getting the surgery done now. I had a commenter bring this up, and I figure it should be shared. Yes, hospitals are required to give treatment regardless of the patient's ability to pay BUT that's only if it's an emergency case, where the treatment is to stabilize the patient. The surgery that the money was being raised for was to prevent an emergency situation from happening. I heavily assume that since his condition started to slide that the hospital in North Carolina went on to do the surgery before he had all the money raised.

To the folks who have been skeptical about this whole thing, I have been too to an extent. There's a little spot in the back of my head that thinks it could all be an act. There was a girl at my high school who faked having cancer so she could raise money to pay for drum corps. However I have met Sporty twice in person before, and he really did seem to be a bit weaker than any person should be. I really hope the surgery is a success.
