Starter GuideSince the dead bird platform pretty much entirely got infested by Na**s and flatearthers, people leaving the sinking ship left and right mostly to Bluesky, here a little help to get the best experience.

Go through your settings

If you got your own web-address, you can set it as handle under “Account” -> "@Handle"
03.
Under "Languages", pay attention to the bottom option if you use feeds. Uncheck everything to see everything.
04.
Check "Moderation", check the NSFW settings and check "Advanced" below. Adjust Blueskys moderation stuff.
05.
Subscribe to these label services, they will show up under "Advanced" as well.

The “Unverified” lists exclude accounts who have set their own domain as handle, which makes it more believable that this account is being used by a real human and not a bot.

To check if you got listed by someone yourself purposely/by accident, you can check that via:

Better do that every now and then as sometimes bots are being used for ban lists and with that false positives occur.
To Report false positives of labelers and their blocklist use the general report funktion on the profile, you can choose where you want to report to. To report malicious blocklists you can do so on the lists page.

Check everything else in your settings

You can use hashtags in your profile description. If people click them they can find post of you which use these hashtags

Use the addon "Sky Follower Bridge" to maybe find your Twitter people on Bluesky

Click “#Feeds” on the left to find Feeds for QoL features and to find post collections you are interested in.
READ THEIR DESCRIPTIONS! Certain Feeds have requirements for you to be able to participate.
They can be sorted and pinned/unpinned by clicking the cogwheel.
Click the Feeds in “#Feeds” list to get to their main page, read their description or delete them from your list.
Feeds will show up at the top of the “Home” page and right of it.
Feeds are handled and hosted by other people and their servers, so there may be issues occasionally or they might disappear entirely.

Alike feeds now also exist from the Bluesky Team, so you may wanna use theirs instead.
Check their Feed tab
I noticed that any of these Feeds like to miss catching posts, so you want to scroll through Bluesky normal “Following” Feed occasionally.
If you use deck.blue or something alike you can simply use this tab multiple times and simply adjust the settings.

The easiest way to create your own feeds is using Bluesky Feed Creator.

To have a Tweetdeck like experience, deck.blue and skyfeed.app are your friends right now. There may be more in the future.
You need to create a token to use these services. There is a button for this on their pages. Everytime you log in, you need to create a new one, so make sure you stay logged in. After creating a new one, you can delete the old one.
General Advice:- The “Discover” feed is an algorithmic feed which will only show you bad, allegedly popular content and which you have to train yourself by interacting (liking, answering, reposting) with content you like!
Don’t interact with bots/trolls, block them.
- Don’t interact with bots/trolls, block them.
- At best limit your DMs to people you follow.
- Check anyone who follows you and block those who follow a lot of people (there are a few who are real people, so check carefully).
- People you blocked yourself or via a blocklist will be blocked from your feeds and you will also not appear in these peoples starter-packs.
- Scammers: People who offer you art commissions; people who say they accidentally reported you; people (bots) who answer your posts randomly with Go Fund Me and similar stuff.
- Report bad actors.

...but 2024 just had to start with a bad event over there in JP, thanks tectonic movements :/...

I would really like to get away from Twitter, way too many nazis and flatearthers, it’s disgusting. Sadly many artists only got accounts there. Well, this may change once Twitter introduces the $1 interact-tax worldwide and not only in NZ. Many don’t wanna pay that musky egomaniac.
I got Bluesky and Mastodon as well for a couple months now. Less toxicity around there, I like.
Mastodon is nice to use, but interacting with people on other servers outside your bubble is seriously annoying, you always have to take a detour.
Bluesky is still very in-dev (hence why it’s invite only), but so far the devs seem to be ok. It will become a fedivers like Mastodon later, no idea how well that will work out, may know by the end of the year or so.
If you wanna test Bluesky, I got 3 codes for whoever in the comments wants one.
Right now I’m waiting for whispy.org to go live.
I know the dev is capable of his job, his platform is supposed to get the best features of all according to the list.
I’m just worried about bot control and financing if he doesn’t wanna go the fediverse way. I mean, I don’t mind paying one or three bucks to post there if it benefits the platform and people behind the project haven’t got rotten minds.
2023 regarding FA:
…well, they managed to motivate people to leave with their dumb af behaviour and decisions. Telling people which age their character really got instead of listening to the artist, yikes/10.
And they hardly managed to improve the platform as a whole. Since 2005 you still can not change your nick, not even for money. I WANNA CHANGE MY NICK DAMNIT, how much longer do I have to wait??? -_-
They also didn't put that into their next-to-be-done list of the recent update post, so even more waiting...
Anyway, overall 2023 finally was a good year for me:
- Better financial stability thanks to jobcenters money (as a side effect I have to deal with them now though which isn’t the most pleasant experience, but maybe I keep dealing with the better people).
- While at it, started to take my paperstuff into my own hands since I apparently can't rely too much on others to get that right, even though I suck at that as well since my brain can't work with texts.
- Ultimately, I moved out of my parents house to the person I spend my life with, which gives me the opportunity to finally be able to get my life on a line and get away from the people and town which are part of really bad experiences and who failed to help me.
Well, I’m still kinda missing my old home since I had way more room and I’m not good with changes, but let’s see how things are in a year.
- Interacted less with braindead on social media and kept myself less busy with bad events.
- Made a new easy to wear fursuit of an own character which had been well received by others at Eurofurence 28 which made me really happy. <3
I'm happy Eurofurece moved away from that overall bad location in Berlin (News the recent month showed why don't wanna be in Berlin Neukölln...).
The new location in Hamburg is great! (Just that there isn't a giant hotel attached to the convention is inconvenient for suiters. The one right there isn't as big by far.)
I also visited a psychologist to maybe get an ADHD diagnosis because many of my issues point towards that or at least go home with something else. But she said my brain isn’t really part of that spectrum.
I’m not believing that since her main reasoning, besides saying that my issues aren’t bad enough (???), was that I wouldn’t be physically hyperactive. I don’t think she paid enough attention to biological gender differences there, because it’s known that biological male and female people frequently differ exactly there for various reasons.
Also, even with reading her report someone sees I’m neurodiverse as fuck and may need help to live a normal~ish life.
Well, especially if I find a job I may really need some therapy to get along to not run straight into a massive burnout (which I probably already have in one way or another simply through other stress in life and my general issues).
Gonna give it another try to get a diagnosis once I got the nerves and money to take care of it.
Even when I tell others with an ADHD brain about that they say I got a couple vibrant red flags.
Besides that, I lived the year with the mind of having a Non-Binary gender identity and I feel comfortable with it.
My on this topic uneducated self struggled hard with that topic in their 20s and learned about the variety of identities just 2 ½ years ago or so after I dug through the LGBTQAI.wiki when I was 30+ already. So got this huge issue off the table now which is nice.
Finding the missing connection to my persona and their identity also helped with that a lot.
Regarding my Persona/Fursona, I really wanna upload artworks/ref sheets this year.
Didn’t come around getting that done last year, always been too distracted or struggled with my health thanks to cold temps and/or stress. (Big thanks to my parents who hardly heated the house in Dec. ‘22 which caused my energy level to crash hard for months of which I didn’t really recover through the whole year.) -_-
My personas being may surprise one or two people, but we shall see. :>
Also, my best purchase last year, my dear lovely plush dragoness named Minze. So happy to have her.
I think having her in my new bunk bed every night since I moved helps with dealing with my anxieties (I hope it’s not my brain just keeping it stored in a corner because of the stress of moving, new jobcenter, christmas etc. the recent weeks. x_X).

About NFT art, their platforms and their problems

As there is currently going some turmoil through artist communities regarding some stuff called Cryptoart/NFT art, I want to throw a couple words of mine into that topic.
First explaining really short what this stuff actually is all about and what the actual problems are.
I hope I understood the basics correct, I'm kinda sure I did (Feel free to correct me on something). I can not explain the complete details of that as it's kinda hard to understand for me as I also just learned about it.
So, what is NFT/Crytoart, what does it do?
- People upload art to a NFT (Non Fungible Token) art trade platform.
- It gets associated with a thing called NFT, which is a unique identifier for that piece and is basically equal to a certificate to a real life painting. Also equal to a text file you got with a digital piece of art you bought or anything that proofs $artist made it, $buyer owns it/a legit copy.
- To participate in this stuff (sell/buy/bid in auctions) people need a crypto currency. It's mostly Ethereum when it comes to NFT stuff right now.
- A system called blockchain is in charge of all these actions, assuring everything works properly and can't be altered in any way
- This system does not prevent art from being stolen or abused. It does not mean you own any copyright. It does not mean you own a unique copy of something. It basically doesn't differ from any other art sale. All you get is a token (certificate) associated with a digital artwork that you can call yours. You can also sell it again.
And which problems does this system have?
- In fact, art thievery and sale get boosted to a new all time hight as bots crawl through peoples galleries and sell their work. Even screenshots of tweets or any media content in them are being thrown onto the NFT platforms.
- Many NFT and probably all big cryto currency platforms like Ethereum or Bitcoing rely onto the Proof-of-Work prortocol to ensure everything recorded on their blockchain is as it should be.
- PoW requires a ridiculous amount of processing power and with it energy, causing an even highter CO2 pollution. Hence why there are mining farms worldwide, good graphic cards are unavailable and whatnot. They are needed for this whole system to work.
- Using PoW relying platform, the process of creating NFTs and minting your art this way, getting bids in auctions, having sales and any other action is causing environmental damage.
- On some estimates, a single crypto tranaction may eat as much energy as an average US household does in a single day. Creating 6 NFTs more than some people manage to use in a year.
- Regarding Ethereum relying platforms, people who upload stuff need to pay a gas fee which directly goes the Ethereum miners.
- On a positive note, Ethereum plans to replace Proof-of-Work with Proof-of-Stake which is energy efficient to a level of making mining farms obsolete. It's technically more difficult than PoW and still in its early stages. Eventually other Crypto platforms may follows once its proven being just as good. There also are already some less known networks existing relying on PoS.
My opinion?
The fact that it makes art thievery worse than it already is, is reason enough to not support it.
I don't know how well these platforms are moderated and if DMCA strikes are somehow possible. Even if, they may care as little as ebay and Amazon do which are already a pain in the ass. Or as devArt, to name another dumb example when it comes to handling art thievery at its worst.
Also people can just steal stuff again, just as it's already happening. Just that everything becomes even easier since it's all about digital files on huge platforms. Means setting up a bot could be the only thing some people do. How well that works do we see when looking at all these scalpers.
And yeah, that this crypto bs mostly is a waste of energy and hardware riight now, is another reason why I can't support it. It may change, but not soon. If hardware becomes afforabale again? Who knows. Greed is limitless.
At the end, a warning:
I mentioned already that even Twitter content gets stolen and sold. People do that by commenting with a Text that contains Botname and something like 0x0123456789ABCDEF and probably also Blah.eth.
You should instantly block this person and that bot. Apparently these bots may have pages where you can undo that grab, but I have no idea how well that works. At best, ban these bots and people before they can even grab your stuff.

This system of grabbing stuff on peoples request and adding it into a NFT platform can basically work on any page. Be it FA, devArt, Inkbunny, etc. Just the way it's made work is different.

If people would stop using their journals & arts for livestream announcements/advertisements, that'd be great.... -_-"
That's nothing but spam. And when I see it in my inboxes, the stream is already over for hours and these are just undeleted leftovers of the owner.
Since we still can't block journal notifications etc. or have something extra for livestream notifications (also blockable) because... putting Google Analytics and equal shit on FA is a more important thing to do it's even more annoying.
Srsly, there is Twitter, FB etc. for that. And Picarto, Twitch etc. have mail and mobile notifications anyway. -.-
There you have my rant. It's annyoing me for months now.
And please don't tell me I would whine, everyone should know that journals exist for updates, important announcements or just something someone wants to tell other people. But not for livestream spam on a daily base from dozen of people.
