The Kaitty Club
Posted 6 years agoHi! Do you really like my art? Did you know you can support me at https://kaitty.club ??
Why? Well, because you can see my artwork earlier than anyone else! Usually I have a backlog of 10-30 pics, plus you can see WIPs, sketches and such that I won't post anywhere else.
Please be assured that it's an optional thing to support me. While this is my main form of financially supporting myself, I am posting all finished artworks eventually so that everyone can see my art. I just want to make art!

Posted 9 years agogoing to Anthrocon!!
Posted 9 years agoI just bought my tickets so HOORAY! First anthrocon! Every year I said I'd go and cancelled. I'm HELLA EXCITED!! And maybe I'll get into the art show, I entered but missed the deadline. If so, FIRST ART SHOW TOO *SCREAMS*
How was MFF?
Posted 10 years agoMFF was the best con I've ever been to! I got to meet lots of people and FANS! like whoa I have fans???
It's really weird and hasn't quite sunk in X3 I didn't get enough time to walk around the con and meet
everyone I wanted to, sadly! I know I missed out meeting Kilometers and a lot of artists, I didn't browse
the dealers den or artists alley nearly as much as I wanted.
So on Friday night, I went to the awesome pokemon symphony, then flew overnight to the con!
I got almost no sleep! Slept a few hours Saturday morning, felt super exhausted most of the day.
I didn't hit any panels at allllll though I really would've liked to, I just didn't have much time between
meeting people! I was also pretty exhausted on Saturday from my flight. Next time, I'll come on
Thursday or Friday and maybe enter the art show.....
I got to meet some people like Curly, AlphaZeron, Geno, and I'm sure many more, on Saturday,
my memory is really fuzzy, and I'm terrible with names.. then I slept like 12 hours and that got me
caught up on my sleep.
Then, Sunday, I sat down at a table and invited a bunch of people who wanted to meet me to come say hi,
and it was like one after another adorable furries getting all bouncey about meeting me ;w; It was
quite honoring! Seeing people's excitement just really made me so happy! I love you guys.
Spent some time with my friends playing some card games in the board game room as the con winded down
Sunday night. I don't drink or party, so it was a nice chill time with Dessy, Sappo and AlphaZeron. Dessy
said I was the cutest person!! which made my night ;u;
I was also wearing a new cosplay-ish outfit, decked out in Monster Hunter gear, I had a felyne parka, hoodie,
little pawpad gloves, a giant weapon and a shield, and I also carried around my Kaitty plushie that
jeanlee made
for me, EVERYONE loved the plushie! HEEE! I can't wait to go to anime cons and such wearing the
outfit! I just need some kind of felyne mask or something!
Got to hang out a lot with Sappo, Eaglebird, Praprika, Dessy, Shippo, Kaycee, Curly, Crackers, Sparks, Hulex,
SketchyWolf, OceanOtter, jeez.. so many! And I know I'm missing a few, I'm sorry if I've forgotten you, I met
sooo many people.. and my memory is bad even if I'm just meeting a single person ;A; I'm mainly pulling names
off of my twitter! X3;;
I managed to surprise some of my roommates with some badges based on stickers I've made...
Got lots of hugs, something I was a little shy with at first, but as the con went on,
I wanted to hug everyone. I'm still too shy to interact with fursuiters, something I'm gonna work on next time!
Crackers plopped his fursuit head on me, also!
And gosh, seems like everyone wants to commission me, the demand is way higher than I can supply, I'm sorry!
I'm really really lucky to have so many people who love my art and support it and me, I thank you all so much.
>>Where's all your art? Why aren't you posting?
I'm still drawing every day - my goal is at least one sketch a day and I've been meeting that for 143 days in a row
so far. I haven't been uploading as much, mainly because want to keep all my galleries up to date simultaneously and
uploading to 4 of them at once is kind of exhausting. That being said, page 13 of the Riolu/Lucario comic will be posted
before 2016! Happy Holidays~!

How To Lick Door Knobs
Posted 10 years agoHow To Lick Door Knobs
Licking Door Knobs is a fun and cheap hobby to keep yourself busy and to taste a variety of metals, plastics and cleaners without going through the commitment of buying them yourself.
It's best to start by lowering down to your knees, unless you are a smaller person and are already at the correct height. Be sure to not use your lower back to sit or stand as you can harm your back by practicing this hobby.
Public Door Knobs are not the most hygienic kinds of Door Knobs to lick, however, with a bit of smart strategy, you can keep yourself safe.
Firstly, most people are right-handed and grab the Door Knob with their right hand. Using your hand, grasp the Door Knob in the most comfortable and natural position. Look at your hand as you're grabbing the Door Knob. These points are the Danger Zone for licking the Door Knob. If you avoid licking these areas, you'll encounter less germs!
Using this strategy will be key to not catching contagious illnesses. Another strategy that might be useful to use would be carrying around antibacterial wipes with you. Note that these are not free, so every Door Knob you lick will now cost you money. Be sure to do budget accordingly so you can afford to lick Door Knobs.
Be considerate about licking Door Knobs, check behind you for people wishing to use the Door Knob for regular use. Offering to open and hold the door open for them is both considerate and more sanitary as they do not need to touch the Door Knob if you are doing it for them!
WARNINGS:
Do not spend excessive amounts of money on disinfectant wipes. Signs that you are spending too much money on this habit are: Loss of income, Hunger due to not being able to afford groceries, Pockets filled to the brim with Disinfectant wipes.
Do not lick the Danger Zone as mentioned in Part 1.
If you have a compromised immune system or other health problem, ask your doctor about licking Door Knobs before beginning your journey.

Megaplex notes!
Posted 10 years agoMEGAPLEX 2015!!!!
Also, I'm back from Megaplex!! It was fun overall, though I was pretty disappointed when I learned there WAS NO ZOO >:C At furry cons, the Zoo is basically just a lounge with lots of tables and chairs for people to sit around, draw and hang out. Every con I've been to, the Zoo was my home, I'd let people approach me as I draw and I'd trade with people.
I think I drew like, 5 things total at Megaplex because of this. Nobody even knew what a zoo was. There was ONE hour-long art-related panel called the Art Jam, and it was a room slightly larger than our hotel room, cram-packed shoulder-to-shoulder with people. Way too uncomfortable, so I didn't even participate.
The other panels were fun. I like panels. I also did pretty well playing 8-player Smash4! I love smash4. Let's play Smash4.
My roommates,
tommynapolitano
wolfangcerberus and
rabu were all very chill and fun to hang with! Thanks for being friendly and letting me stay with you guys~ I'll be honest, I was too shy to even ask for a sketchbook to draw in. Next time I'll be FORWARD and draw for everyone. PROMISE.Also shoutouts to
DeChuRi and
Borrie for being friendly and nice~ I KNOW I HUNG OUT WITH MORE PEOPLE REGULARLY but I don't remember your names, I'm so sorry ;3; I also smashed with a bunch of dudes, but remembering names from that is even harder ;o;Overall, I really need to work on my self-confidence when it comes to my art and myself as a person. I end up psyching myself out of showing people my art or offering to draw for them or drawing in public. Aah well. Planning on going to FWA2016 but I have no room plans made yet.
Megaplex, here I come~

I'm heading in Friday, leaving Monday! I'm both excited and nervous ;3; I haven't been to a furry con in forever!
Easiest way to spot me... I'll be wearing a brown monster hunter felyne hat! Did I mention I'm really shy? Yeah.. I'm really shy. Pls be gentle.

Posted 10 years agoI'm going to Megaplex this year, the Orlando furry con!
So far I don't know many people going, so um.. I guess I'm just trying to make it known that I'll be there! I hope to meet fuzzy friendlies and draw in some sketchbooks. I'm AWFUL at traditional art though! I'll probably spend a lot of time in the zoo and hope people approach me because I'm so stupid shy.
Kinda considering just doing art trades by doodling on my Note3 but I wonder if that would be too weird for people accustomed to getting art in their sketchbooks?

Posted 12 years agoSomething I love to do is gesture drawing, namely, 30 second gestures, it's fun, it's good practice and I always feel like I'm learning more about the human (or animal) body. But these last few sessions, I've felt like my gestures were stiff! That's the opposite of what you want when you're gesture drawing, and it happens to me every time I take a hiatus from drawing.
So I do what I always do, I went and searched for some gesture drawing advice. I found the perfect video. I've been gesture drawing for years and this video just perfectly explains what I've been trying to accomplish for years, through hundreds of sketches, and makes it click in such a simple way that I see results immediately: the top is before I watched the video, and latter is right after.
On top of that, it's more fun because I'm not frustrating myself, one of the most difficult things is figuring out what you could be doing better. This post may just be for myself, so I remember to come back when I'm frustrated with gestures, but hopefully it helps some budding artists that might be watching.
And here's some additional resources for figure drawing, share yours if you know any!

How does I paint??
For serious, does anyone have any tips/helpful tutorials on digitally painting? Watercolor makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE to me. It's like trying to learn to fly with an inverted joystick. I would hella appreciate it!

ARTIST QUESTION 2: How do you GRIP your pencil and pen?
Posted 14 years agoA few months ago, I realized you could hold a pencil and pen differently than the way I always did. It was around this time I noticed how hard I was gripping my pencils, and why pressure sensitivity seemed difficult to me. I use a tripod grip, often combined with the death grip (squeezing the pen too hard, not relaxed) which made it difficult to do light strokes. Now I like to experiment with all the different grips! You should try too!
With that in mind, lets move on to the questions and discussion!
Please take the time to look at the photos in this article before you answer so we can all get an idea of what we're talking about. You don't have to read it, but figure out which grip you use so you can name it.
Which grip do you use when you sketch?
Which grip do you use when you line?
Which grip do you use when you color?
Is the grip different when you use a tablet versus traditional pencils?
How about when you write? Is it a different grip than when you draw?
I love hearing from everyone, so leave a comment! Especially if you use something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! WHOA! If you could take a quick photo or sketch your own hand, that would be really great too! Don't be shy!
Yesterday's question was how do you have your tablet oriented on your desk

ARTIST QUESTION 1: How do you have your tablet set up?
Posted 14 years agoI am curious, mister and misses artists, how you use your tablet?
What I mean is.. Do you have it on a flat surface while you sit and draw on it? Or do you angle it up? This is more of a question to those without touch-screen tablets since I don't even have one in my dreams!
These past few years I have been drawing, holding my pencil and pen identical to the way I hold them when I write. It never occurred to me that I could hold it differently. I was complaining about pain when I realized I was gripping my pen like an empty tube of toothpaste, trying to squeeze the digital ink out of it.
So tell me and I'll tell you!
I use my tablet on a flat surface on a desk, a lot of my movement comes from my wrists rather than my arms. It's not the most comfortable thing, but I heard a quote (and am too lazy to look up the origins) which really inspires me:
"There are no rules, only tools."
