GET FREE STORIES: Kalo's Picture-Inspired Story Marathon
Posted 2 weeks agoI'm setting a challenge for myself: between now and the end of November, I'm going to finish and post 30 short stories (500-3000 words each).
The theme I'm doing is "Picture Inspired". I'll take existing furry art and use that as inspiration for these stories - desciribing what's going on, coming up with some backstory that lead to that point, or narrating the aftermath, stuff like that. For an example check out Fox's New Features, which was inspired by this image, or Ruth's Break which I wrote based on one of my own commissions.
For this, I am taking suggestions on what images to use. If you've got a favorite piece of art, and want to see it get the story treatment, here's your chance!
There's a few caveats and disclaimers:
DISCLAIMERS:
These stories are "Inspired By" the related art, and have no official connection to the related art. No ownership or rights to the story are granted to the creator/owner of the related art or the pictured characters, likewise no ownership or rights to the related art or the pictured characters are claimed by myself.
No rights or ownership are granted or implied to you if I use your suggestion. This is not a commission or a gift.
Characters, species, or other details in the story may differ from what's in the image. On that note, characters might be renamed/genericized so as to avoid potentially offending their owners.
I'm making no guarantees, and I'm doing this for free so you get what you get.
CAVEATS:
I'm not going to dedicate a lot of time to researching things just to write these stories, so if you suggest art from something obscure that I'm not familiar with then I might get details wrong.
I am doing at most one (1) My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic story and not more than that one, so either submit something really good from there or use something else.
TIPS ON WHAT TO SUBMIT:
Art that's just pinups or characters posing for the camera isn't going to inspire much. Actions (characters doing something) interactions (characters doing something to each other) or situations (the environment doing something to the characters) might work a lot better.
Comic pages or images that are heavy on dialogue might not be good choices, since those are telling a story already. This Campus Avenue image has about the right amount.
Fetishes I'm not into are not disqualifying, since I'm trying to expand my range of what I can write, but please pick out good images for that since I'll be looking at those a little more harshly.
TO SUBMIT:
Copy and paste this form, and fill in the blanks.
Link to image:
Did you draw or commission the image:
Do you own the characters:
You can submit up to five images. Please submit them all in a single comment or as replies to your first comment.
Thank you, and wish me luck!

new story formatting on fa

please tell me there's some way to switch back to the old format
please tell me I'm not now until forever viewing text files in a small, unresizable window

Birthday
Posted a month agoHappy Hatchday to me! 39 years of birb.
Also just got back from Megaplex yesterday, where I was running the lost and found. Very busy again. I don't know if I can share exact numbers but there was about a 40:1 attendees:staff ratio which is... a lot. I have thoughts on that, but need time to recover and think on what I want to say (and how to say it).
I've got some more art to post... sometime. Today I'm just going to take things easy though. Some games, some videos with friends, and sushi.

Dark and Extreme Fetish Feedback server
Posted 2 months agoDo you write stories with vore, snuff, rape, or other extreme fetishes? (Or even if you don't! Vanilla stuff is fine.)
Are you tired of asking for feedback and comments and never getting any, feeling like you're shouting into the void and only hearing an echo in return?
Or are you not an author, but just want to read some weird shit before it gets posted publicly?
Introducing the Dark and Extreme Fetish Feedback server (DEFF)!
This is a discord server where authors can post their fetishy stories, and others can beta-read or give feedback on them. Notably, if you're posting stories for feedback, then you're also required to *give* feedback to others, so everyone's guaranteed to get at least some.
ALSO: For a limited time (till the end of September or so) I will personally be reading and giving feedback on everything posted, so no matter what else you'll get at least that if you join and post.
Server invite: https://discord.gg/cDCHy4Uhsd

Seeking Vore Author
Posted 2 months agoI've put this seeking-creator ad up in a couple different places (primarily Eka's work-to-feed discord server) but going to also crosspost it here, in case it'll catch anyone interested who's not there.
STYLE: Written, traditional longform, first or third person furry vore story.
DESCRIPTION: Looking for a hard vore, nonfatal vore, willing prey, dominant prey/submissive predator story. Consensual or CNC on the part of the pred, fully willing on the part of the prey. Not looking for graphic depictions of hard vore (see reference for about what level of detail I'm looking for).
QUALITY: Minimum quality standards apply. You must have a good grasp of story structure, spelling and grammar, etc. If you do not have an online gallery or portfolio of stories (ideally some of which are vore), posted *before* this message went up, with some way to verify that they are actually your works, then please do not apply. Roleplay logs are not stories.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Please read the above paragraph again.
BUDGET: $500 max. Might be up for sequels but not guaranteed.

8/8 art flood recap
Posted 2 months ago46 new things uploaded, across 3 days. That feels like such a small number but at the same time uploading stuff takes more time than you expect.
A few things you might have missed in the flood that I want to call attention to:
New arts from Peritan and Spirale
An alt version of hyena-flavored popcorn (one of my favorite pics)
Finally posting the gosh-dang lore
And then late on the last day, after I thought I was done, I had some big project news to share!
I hope you all enjoyed!
I'm sitting on a bit more artwork, it'll go up sometime soon(-ish-ish), but at least my backlog isn't at critical levels.

8/8 Results - and a sequel
Posted 2 months agoSo - the promised 8/8 art upload flood was maybe more of a trickle.
I uploaded 21 things, which is pretty good! But I've got about twice that many still sitting in my to-upload folder.
A large part of it is that I had to finish up Heartbite to post it today, which took longer than I expected. Speaking of which, Heartbite V0.8 is out! Go check it out! It's my new baby and I want everyone to go look at it (if you're comfortable with reading it).
... ADHD hit kinda hard. I also had a few other things going on that were distractions.
And I'm more or less out of time right now. And I think...
... Honestly I'm just going to keep going tomorrow.
Vore day was just an excuse to get started on this backlog I've been sitting on for forever. I'm not going to let it sit for even longer, I'm going to get through it.
Vore day, 8/8, is now VORE WEEKEND. We're gonna keep going tomorrow and then sunday, and see how far we go. Maybe I can get through everything! (I'm not going to be able to get through everything.) Maybe I can get through MOST OF IT.
Stay tuned! (Also please set up your blacklist, I really don't want to blindside you with some of this stuff.)

do not try to upload two things at the same time
Posted 2 months agoso uh... do not try to upload two things at the same time
FA doesn't seem to be great about not getting them mixed up
For a few seconds there I had a hard vore image up, with the tags from a much more tame petplay image
I apologize if you inadvertently saw that

Plans for 8/8
Posted 2 months agoFor 8/8 (vore day)...
... Going to upload a bunch of art. Some of it's vore, a lot of it isn't, just stuff that's filled up my backlog.
I'm also going go dedicate the day to working on Heartbite, and seeing if I can't bring it to a point I'm happy with for the public (beta) release by the end of the day.

Talkin' about Heartbite
Posted 2 months agoLong time followers might remember me talking about Heartbite, which is my combination nonfatal-vore/petplay setting for roleplay and stories. It is more or less the 'main' canon for most of my characters - there's a few exceptions, like the teacher/breeding fetish stuff doesn't take place there, my pokemon OC's aren't there, and all of Ari's "I work at an office that allows nudity and encourages fucking in the open" stuff isn't there... but the vast majority of it is.
I've mentioned Heartbite a few times, and made various attempts at explaining it, but I feel like I mostly haven't really satisfactoraly explained it in any level of sufficient detail. So it's always been this sort of background element that surfaces in a few scattered stories, or in descriptions of artwork I commission...
... So this week I decided that I would write at least a few things down about it.
And then I kept writing. And kept writing.
... And right now, it's sitting at a meaty 12,000 words of worldbuilding, lore, and general information. And I'm not even considering it finished yet.
It's goal is to tie together (most of) my characters into one cohesive setting, provide rules on how the world works, give a feel for what it's like living in this world... and ultimately be a single document that I can simply hand off to anyone who'd like to make their own Heartbite stories or art, or do roleplaying in it, or whatever else.
I've been working on this setting on and off for nearly 8 years, mostly through brainstorming, private roleplays, and commissioned art/stories... so I'm really stoked to be getting it all down on paper to share it. I want to get it properly finished before I post it, but look for it being posted in the near future.
Really stoked.

Looking for beta readers for a roleplay setting guide
Posted 2 months agoLooking for beta readers! I've got something that's not quite done yet, but could use some feedback on how to develop it further.
This is for a nonfatal vore worldbuilding guide/roleplay guide. It does not use graphic language or describe vore scenes in detail, but it is still very vore-focused. It also has a lot of petplay focus, if that is something that would bother you. If neither of those are a problem for you, great!
This is still being written. It's missing a lot of things - locations, character profiles, example scenarios, some more worldbuilding about technology level and the like, and optional rules for taking vore/petplay/furries out of the setting, among a great many other things. The final product is, if I'm allowed to be ambitious about it, about 4x as long as it currently is. But for now I'm just looking for feedback on what's there so far.
I'm looking for constructive feedback. "I liked X" or "I didn't like X" is nice, but less useful than "I did/didn't like X because of Y".

This file will be made unavailable in a few days after this posting. Please do not share it around just yet.

NSFW games banned from itch.io
Posted 3 months agohttps://kotaku.com/itch-io-nsfw-por.....out-1851786841
The tl;dr is a bunch of asshats petitioned visa and mastercard, who in turn are putting pressure on game platforms to remove anything nsfw (or even just marked as 'adult'). Major indie platform itch.io is the latest one to fold.
You should care about this. Even if you don't like porn games, even if you don't even like the idea of porn games, even if there's fetishes or content that make you uncomfortable, you should care about this sort of censorship.
And if you don't care, if you're some sort of sfw puritan furry who would never touch a 'porn game' or thinks that 'rape games' or whatever you're uncomfortable with, shouldn't even get to exist...
... y'all know you're next on the chopping block for this sorta bullshit anyway, right? The forces arrayed against us aren't going to differentiate or stop. Start caring about things you're uncomfortable with real fucking quick, it's a survival mechanism.

Ask me (or my characters) anything! VORE EDITION
Posted 3 months agoI've got time to kill so ask me or my characters anything here.
I (or they) will answer it to the best of my ability. If it's not directed at me, make sure you specify the character or character(s) you're asking.
This is the one where people can ask vore-related questions. If that's not your cup of tea, I have another journal up strictly for non-vore-related questions.

About contacting me on Discord
Posted 3 months agoH'okay.
I have my discord username posted publicly on my profile.
I am DM-okay, if you want to talk.
But.
Please have something ready to talk about.
I don't do small talk. I don't know if it's part of my particular flavor of neurodivergence, or just sort of how I am, but I do not vibe with this:
Other Person: Hey what's up?
Kalo: Not much.
(nothing more is said)
Other Person: Good morning!
Kalo: Morning.
(nothing more is said)
Other Person: So what games are you playing?
Kalo: Against the Storm and Bananza recently.
Other Person: Oh cool.
(nothing more is said)
... It kinda just leaves me feeling like I'm a video game NPC that you're trying to grind relationship points with. I don't work that way. If you tell me 'good morning' every day for five days straight you don't unlock the next level, you just unlock me probably wanting to talk to you less.
If you want to talk games, let's talk specific games. Dump on me with whatever your current hyperfixation is. If you want to talk art or porn I've got a whole gallery and favorites folder of the stuff. Hell, I'm not into sports or cars but even if you want to talk about Johnny Sportsballer's miraculous 101-yard pass to win the monaco grand prix last year I'll at least fucking read it and give my thoughts, but whatever it is, something of substance is infinitely better than nothing of substance.
I know conversations are a two way street, and I'd be glad to open up a bit in return, but you're the one contacting me[/] so I figure you need to come to the table with [i]something first.
That's all I wanted to say here. After this has happened several times in a row I at least wanted to vent about it. Thank you for reading.

Sorry for posting CBT! It will happen again.
Posted 3 months agoSo I lost a couple followers after posting some fairly extreme stuff last week.
This isn't throwing shade on those people who unfollowed, it's their business who they want to follow and I know I've done the same for several artists who were posting things I didn't like.
I kinda figured getting unfollowed would happen, still was a little disappointing. I hope I didn't shock those people too badly. (I did use tags! And put up warning posts.)
...
I also got a lot of nice comments, and some decent engagement on those posts.
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it is very encouraging (and validating!) to know that I'm not alone in liking this weird freaky shit.
So: I'm going to be posting more of it.
I'm waiting a few more days, till Thursday probably, to post more of my extreme art backlog.
So if you didn't like anything that I posted then you should update your blacklist tags.
For everyone who *does* want to see more of this stuff, stay tuned till Thursday~

Posted 3 months agoBassy has asked me to remind everyone that he doesn't normally draw vore and vore related things, and vore specificially is on his 'will not draw' list per his terms and conditions.
He's asked me to ask you to not ask him for it.

Uploaded some cooking vore stuff
Posted 3 months agoAs you might have seen, now that FA has at least *some* sort of blacklist tagging in place, I'm starting in on uploading my backlog of cooking vore art, which I'd mostly held off on out of concern that people would see shit they didn't sign up for.
There's more I can upload but I'm going to pause things there and see what the reaction is before I keep going. Some of it does get a bit more extreme.
As a reminder, I made a quick tutorial for setting up your tag blacklist on FA which you might want to check out.
... On the plus side, what I have uploaded is getting a steady stream of favorites and comments, so I guess the freaks have found it just fine. Hello fellow freaks. Had anything good to eat today? :P

Survey: tagging extreme stuff (you might want to give input)
Posted 3 months agoI have a backlog of extreme art that I'm going to upload in the near future.
For those that have blacklists set up, or for those who create similar content, what tag(s) do you use for:
1. Cock and ball torture (trauma to the testicles, penis, or other genitals)
2. Vore of specifically the 'cooking' variety (a character being heated up or otherwise prepared as food for another character)
I'd like to cast a wide net so this doesn't show up in anyone's feed (assuming they set up blacklists correctly, otherwise it's not my problem) so please let me know.

No Interview with the Vorepire today
Posted 3 months agoNot posting a new chapter today due to traveling and not having had enough time/energy/privacy to properly sit down and write.
New chapter next week.

Anthrocon Writing Panel Notes
Posted 3 months agoThought I'd share the notes I took from various writing panels
No guarantees on quality of these notes since they're mostly just taken as an aid for my own memory, but maybe they're still useful for someone.

Anthrocon Writing Panel notes
Friday 10 AM: Writing Basics
Anthropomorphic Outreach Writers Organization
Authors/editors of Altered States Draconic Desires
Basically the 'getting you started' panel
Thing to remember: Writers are not one size fits all. If it doesn't work for you it doesn't work for you. The only truly wrong thing is to not write at all.
Writing is intimidating, especially when you're staring at a blank page. If there's words on the page already that might help. There's a furry ipsum you can use.
Starting a story with a loredump of Background and setting: "I don't need to know this right now. Where's the story?"
Remember: Writing is supposed to be fun
What's your physical process: "My personal first step is to outline." Pantsers vs outliners. "My process is taking a main idea and-" (didn't finish the thought)
When you're just writing write everything down. It can be a future you problem to decide whether that belongs or not
Rubber ducking: not just for programmers
Getting used to your writing habits. Writing doesn't always mean putting words on a page. If you're rubberducking for 20 minutes a day that's still 20 minutes of writing (but make sure you take notes)
Sprints: You set a timer and then just *go*. There are websites that will help with sprints (setting timer, giving you a wordcount)
Communal space for body doubling writing, shares wordcount with other participants and nothing else "mywriteclub.com" (doublecheck name)
Basic expectation for writing furry: Characters to have animal characteristics
"Are they animals or are they people in animal suits?"
"You might be starting too early in the story, that's fine, editing will probably chop off a lot anyway"
Feedback from a beta reader can be taken with a grain of salt if you don't agree with it. Feedback from an *editor* should be taken more seriously, especially if they're the one deciding if your story gets published.
MACE/MICE Quotient for determining outline length (from Writing Excuses) Entering/exiting a place, answering a question/inquiry, character is driven by angst, driven by event
(I butchered this, look it up later)
So you've finished your story what next?: "You need to be told your baby is ugly"
"Sleep on it before you go back to edit your story"
"Say 'Tell me how this baby is not pretty'"
"When I submit a story to someone paying me it should be when I hate it the most because I can't think of anything else to do" (I might have missed context here)
The way furry publication works is they will put out a call
You have your story, get it beta read, edited, etc, before you submit
"Read the fucking call" "Hidden in that statement of what they want is a lot of fucking information"
They want it in this file format, this style, etc
You are allowed to ask clarifying questions
"A lot of information in the call is a test to see how well you follow instructions"
Calls get posted on furry writing guild(?)

Friday 12 PM: Furry Writing Groups
"Figure out the best day that would work for all of you, like a tabletop rpg session"
Check out the Furry Writers' Guild
We get together
"The person receiving the critiquing isn't allowed to react until all feedback is given"
There's also writing workshops - in depth writing group basically
Critiquing two stories while also writing your next story for later in the week
"I've never written that much before in my life"
It's interesting to see stories at that stage - when you're buying books you're getting stories that have been through the wringer, in writing groups you're getting raw content
Can find writing groups via libraries
Critiquing:
"Nobody really likes criticism, you think you've written the best thing ever, we don't want someone to tell us it's not the best thing ever"
"The way we do our critiquing - person staying silent - start with something positive and then go into constructive criticism and then finish with positive parts about the story"
Don't say "I hate this character why are you writing it"
Say "You have this villain and there's no redeeming quality and no actual plan, evil for evil's sake, 1 dimensional, is there any way to flesh out the character more"
Don't say "First two chapters are just infodump and you should cut them" instead "There's a lot of info can you work that in somewhere"
Self-pub is you're getting everything set up and putting the book on amazon kindle yourself
Traditional publishing is harder to do because there's not that many publishers anymore
Vanity publishers: Paying the publisher ~$3000 to get a book published
Writing groups can help a lot by word of mouth
"You need to critique as much as you are being critiqued"
But you don't need to read every single thing that comes into the writing group
Consider trigger warnings!

(break for lunch and shopping)

3 PM: Writing Plotlines
The MICE/MACE Quotient (need to look this up)
Mileau (Gulliver's travels)
Inquiry/Ask (who did the thing, who did the crime)
Character driven by angst (surviving godzilla)
The larger your text is the more the MICE quotient comes in
Book: "Save the Cat"
"Might be too prescriptive, but it's a great example otherwise"
"It's worth reading even if you don't follow it (agree with it)"
Five act structure
"Do these characters feel preachy, if so is that getting marred by your theme"
"Wants Needs and Ghosts"
Action then cooldown
(I might be flagging a bit, not taking great notes)
"How can I ratchet things up without bringing the attention all the way up, what's a small impediment without ramping up too much"
"You need to make things more difficult for your main character"
"As bad as you think you can make it, make it worse"
(I'm not sure I agree with this advice)
"90% of dr who episodes start with the doctor getting seperated from the tardis because the tardis could just solve the problem instantly"
---
Saturday 5:30 PM Critiquing
(I came in halfway)
"If you think saying 'this is not very good' would destroy them then find some other way to say it"
Another pointer towards Furry Writers Guild for finding critique/beta reader
"There's some website where you were giving/spending credits for critiques" (might be called critters)
Make comments on other peoples' works
"You don't need to take every piece of advice"
"If you are receiving critique from another person and it's not written critique, be silent... a lot of writing groups have this kind of policy."
"When multiple different critiquers give the exact same feedback - maybe listen to it a bit more and don't disregard it"
---
Saturday 7 PM: Starting your Passion Project
"This is supposed to be a motivational panel"
"A successful project starts with the will to work on it (basically)"
Showing examples of passion projects: Balatro
Localthunk thought he would sell six copies
Undertale: Made as a demo for the game he actually wanted to make (deltarune)
He made the game he wanted to make
(not relevant: look up "big two" card game)
"I can't start because: Not talented enough/Too old, don't have the time/Don't have the right equipment" Then refuting thse
Look up "One punch man early art"
"Make it exist first, make it good later"
Staying motivated ("What about the off days?")
Try Warmups (something simple to get started. Simple doodles, simple stories"
Set achievable goals
Bad: "I want my comic to be popular"
Good: "I want to finish the third panel of this comic page by July 21"
Don't set a goal till you've already started!
Someone brings up the meeseeks episode of Rick and Morty (of course it's a rick and morty fan with the example-as-a-question question)
"Try a 'reset"
Work in a different environment
Stretching/standing/walking/running
20-20-20 rule (not mandatory but might help)
Seperate your environments (reminds me of the cgp grey covid spaceship video)
"Remember that you are not a machine, there are going to be high productivity days and low productivity days"
Having a community is important
Presentation over, going to questions
Brings up game jams, etc
"If you do it only 5 minutes a day but keep at it throughout a year that's still a lot of time that adds up"
"You need to create a seperation between what you're doing for your job and what you're doing as your passion project"
"If you need to, distance yourself from your phone"
No guarantees on quality of these notes since they're mostly just taken as an aid for my own memory, but maybe they're still useful for someone.

No Interview with the Vorepire next week
Posted 3 months agoSince I'm at Anthrocon I haven't had time to write, so going to delay next week's chapter. Will be resuming the week after that.
