When there's no art block to deal with then there's...
General | Posted 12 years agoTendonitis is a stupid thing... and it had to occur in my pointy finger of all places. I can't really write, I can't really draw, it hurts and it's really annoying. Bleh. :-<
Request time! I'll draw your character! Yep!
General | Posted 12 years agoI want to draw something (and, well, practice) ...but I'm running low on ideas right now and I'm tired of drawing my own character over and over again, so I might as well try my take on someone else's. ;) Which means (once translated into English) I'm taking requests! But not much more than four, at least for now. Any number larger than that one would make me feel too much of a backlog to work off. *lol* (Ah, whatever. Let's make it five.)
So drop me a line if you're interested. Here... or via PM. :)
And, btw, black and white only! I don't do colour, sorry! ;)

Und nein, das ist keine Satire. Offenbar. Erschreckenderweise. D:

Oh no, it's one of those "50 questions"-things! :-/
General | Posted 12 years agoIt's a boring evening and I've been determined to get rid of that journal that's been sitting for a year now on my profile anyway, so...
1. What is your natural hair color?
Dark blonde. I'm sure there's a specific word for it to be found somewhere in the dictionary of all colours... but for now that shall do. So dark blonde it is.
2. Where was your ID pic taken?
In one of those narrow boxes, behind a curtain. o.o
3. What's your middle name?
If I had one I'd say it. :(
4. Your current relationship status?
45 rpm. Single.
5. Honestly, does your crush like you back?
Hypothetically speaking, I sure hope so! But the thing is... I'm completely crushless at the moment.
6. What is your current mood?
Alrite. Just a little sleepy.
7. What's the color of your underwear?
Black! Rrrrr.
8. What is one thing that makes you happy?
Laughing with people.
9. Who was the last person you cuddled with?
Would it make me look like Norman Bates if I said "my grandmother"? However... the Bates thing was all about the mother, wasn't it? So that makes me kind of a half Bates.
10. If you could go back in time and change something what would it be?
Taking oppertunities when there was the time instead of letting them run out or not realizing that they were actually there!
11. If you MUST be an animal for ONE day?
I don't know! Probably a raven? In any case I'd like to fly around all that day long. And ravens are pretty cool, so why not them?
12. Ever had a near death experience?
Considering how clumsy and heedless I am there were dozens of those. X3 Actually it's a bit of a world wonder than I'm still alive after all, haha.
13. Something you do a lot?
Singing. And giggling. Which makes me sound like the Joker now... but I think I prefer THAT over being a half-Bates.
14. What's the name of the song stuck in your head right now?
"Love is a shield" by Camouflage. I don't know why this is, I haven't even heard it in a long while. Usually it's "Que sera sera", though. And it's been even longer since I heard THAT.
15. Who did you copy and paste this from?
marcothecat
16. Name someone with the same b-day as you?
Sorry, I don't know anyone. :-x
17. When was the last time you cried?
Must have been pretty long ago, because I can't remember.
18. Have you ever sang in front of a large audience?
Depends on what you consider being "large"...? But I visited karaoke bars, yes. :3
19. If you could have one super power what would it be?
Time traveling. Because it drives me nuts that I most probably will never know what's going to happen beyond 2060, let alone even 2070.
20. What's the first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
Err. Umm. The face? I guess?
21. What's your biggest secret?
Probably none of your business? >:3 Well, actually I'm having a hard time thinking of anything... but I guess I'm pretty much secret-free? Maybe? D:
22. What's your favorite color?
Begins with "G", moves over "ree" until it finally end with an "n".
23. When was the last time you lied?
At least two days ago. But at least not in this interview sheet. So far! Harharr! >:3
24. Do you still watch kiddy movies or TV shows?
Rarely.
But hey! Recommend me something worthwhile and I'll have a go at it?
25. What are you eating or drinking at the moment?
Air.
26. What's your favorite smell?
Freshly printed books. Oooh yeah, they're the good stuff.
27. If you could describe life in one word what would it be?
The joke is, though: Nobody can! Unless they don't mind simplyfing everything down to a point in which nothing is multilayered anymore.
And... hah! Here's the word! MULTILAYERED! There! (And it's DEEP, isn't it? :3 )
28. When was the last time you gave/received a hug?
Three or four nights ago. There's this friend of mine who never accepts anything less than a hug when you get to meet her. :3
29. Have you ever been kissed in the rain?
Even though I know that a one word answer is boring and unexciting... but it's a "nope" nonetheless.
30. What are you thinking about right now?
That I'm not doing what I actually should be doing. But procrastinating is fun and all.
31. What should you be doing?
Clean the flat, writing a story that I promised for a fanzine, drawing something... Well, anything that isn't lazying around. X3
32. What was the last thing that made you upset?
Probably something falling to the floor, like a bottle that spilled all its content over the carpet. In any case it happens way too often with me and it's pissing me off, haha. Or an unfair videogame. They piss me off all the time, too. :D
33. Do you like working in the yard?
Still have to find that out yet, haven't done yard work in my entire life so far.
34. If you could have any last name in the world, what would you want?
I'm completely content with both of my names, both christian and surname. No need for changing. But how about something silly as Winterbottom?
35. Name 5 things in your closet:
I have no closet! It's all shelves in here! D:
36. Do you act different around your crush?
I act different around all sorts of people.
37. When was the last time you slept with a stuffed animal?
Last night? X3 lol
38. How many times do you take a shower a week?
At least 7!
39. Do you brush your teeth everyday?
At least once every morning.
40. Have you ever said something stupid in front of your crush?
What's with this obsession about crushs in this list? D: And I say stupid things all the time. It happens so often that I can hardly keep up with them.
41. Have you ever watched a hockey game?
Why would I? Furthermore: Would YOU?
42. Do you lie about your age?
No. It's just one of those things that I have to deal with it. Besides, there's nothing more pitiful than lying about your age, I think. You may be proud of it, moan about it and whatnot... but if you lie about it, I don't think I can really respect you. :-/
43. Ever been jealous about something stupid?
All the time. Even reasonable things. Not just the stupid ones.
44. Do you pick your nose?
Only when you're not looking, so don't worry.
45. What's the one food you hate?
Anything with too much milk. I'm sorry, but it's just disgusting. But I can't stomach it that well either way, so I have at least an excuse.
46. What's the one junk food you cant live without?
All of it? D:
47. How old were you when you found out Santa was fake?
I honestly can't remember. So I suppose it never meant that much for me in the first place. X3
48. Have you ever blown your nose and looked inside the napkin?
Have you ever come up with a more moronic question than this one?
49. Describe your favourite underwear you have?
Favourite? Eh... I'm sorry, there's not a favourite to name here. To me underwear is a necessity, and I never gave it a second thought.
50. Did you lie in any of these questions?
N'ah.

Sonic..........
General | Posted 14 years agoI don't think I have ever ever ever ever played anything as unfair and frustrating as "Sonic Adventure 2" in my entire life.
Why do I keep playing? It's not even fun. It already made me smash a controller into pieces and break the actual disc in two (got another one on eBay after that). Is trying to beat it really worth all that anger? Is it even possible to see the end of "Crazy Gadget"?

+/- things of 2010
General | Posted 15 years ago+
* Matt Smith
* "Flash Delirium" by MGMT and the video that came with it. LCD Soundsystem's "All I want" was good too.
* Toothless
* Shatter
* Reading/Listening to the entire "Bernice Summerfield" series. Even though it was expensive as fuck.
* Jigsaw puzzles.
* Bäckerei Walf
* Quiet and relaxing x-mas holidays.
-
* The whole job/no job soap.
* Having to x-ray an extremely smelly hoarder granny. Seriously, I'll never ever forget that smell.
* Shatter
* Didn't get any creative work done. Bah. Take this FA account as one of many evidences.
* No vacation since August.
* Too much snow for a single year. Before 2010 I loved it, now my feeling towards it are a little ambivalent. Ahem. But it was awesome watching the foxies playing in it in the backyard. <3
All in all the year flew past without a real event/highlight. Quite lame, really. A bit of a waste. Hm.

Le meme du character!
General | Posted 15 years agoQuickly! Do it before everyone else did it!! (and before it has become completely annoying :3 )
Besides, I just wanted to get rid of that uberold last journal entry anyway. ;)
1. What do you think my character would have a job/career in?
2. What is unique about my character that you enjoy?
3. What are his flaws?
4. What are some changes you would like to see?
5. What would you like to see my character doing in future pictures?
6. How old does my character look?
7. On a scale of 1-10, how attractive is my character?
8. On a scale to 1-10, how sexually attractive is my character?
9. On a scale to 1-10, how well does my character fit me?
10. If you could, how would you personally change him to fit me better?

I sing rain
General | Posted 15 years agoWhen someone's going to ask me "So what did you do in your vacation, Kaoru?" I'm going to answer with "I played all the Half-Life games, from beginning to end.".
Seriously there's nothing else for me to do at the moment since I find it absolutely impossible to leave the house. According to the news Berlin is the hottest place in the whole of Germany right now, nearing 40°C or something. Though it feels hotter I when I reach my arm for a check out of a window. This is hell. Totally, without a doubt.
So what I've been the past week (apart from dipping through the Half-Life back catalogue) is:
* Watching all the Marx Brothers movies in chronological order. I got all the DVDs for cheap... and the next movie in line is "A Night at the Opera".
* Watching all the Tom Tykwer movies in chronological order. I got all the DVDs for cheap... and the next movie in line is "Perfume". So I'm almost at the end at least of that project. ;)
* Reading the Doctor Who book range from the early 90s, the (in)famous New Adventures. So far they've been pretty much hit and miss (just finished the impressive car crash that is "The Pit"), but some reason or another I find them somewhat intriguing. It's like fan-fiction, the writers can't get the 7th Doctor and Ace totally right and therefore often feel like different characters, but you keep on reading because some of the stories (or at least the ideas behind them) are quite good. Not so sure about Bernice Summerfield so far, though. I adore that character in her own Big Finish-series, but at this stage she's pretty much a Mary Sue.
* Listening to Perry Rhodan-audio books. 60s SciFi cheese is awesome.
* Waiting for rain. Which other parts of Germany seemingly get in abundance... just not Berlin. Barf.
And I know, this was my first entry in MONTHS! But let's not make too much of a fuzz about it, eh? ;)

My brother does teh muzic, yo!
General | Posted 16 years agoAfter having it completed almost three years ago my brother finally just put up the music video on youtube for the title track of his album "Enfant Terrible"... which had been in record company limbo for a whole eternity. Now it's being released on a small and independent hip hop label... and I wish him the best of luck. :)

Honeymoon, lulz.
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm obviously a bloody idiot.
For reasons unknown my mail account "has been blocked for security reasons" and the only way to log into it would be answering all the security questions I made up a few lifetimes ago.
Troube is: the first question is where I spend my honeymoon. And... well, I never had a honeymoon, let alone even a marriage. And I'm sure that I typed in an oh-so-funny answer and felt pwetty klever about that. And since I absolutely don't have the slightest idea what the awesome punchline was (well, can anyone recall his silly jokes he made ca '05?), I'd guess that my mailbox is dead and gone.
Unless Yahoo unblocks it, of course.
Guuuh, me and my stupid humour. *headdesks like woah*

Married Christ mass
General | Posted 16 years agoLalala, Christmas.
I'm in Hamburg these days, visting my mum. All in all it's pretty relaxing (the first truly relaxing days in a long time), even my mum's husband isn't as annoying as anticipated (even though he still has his moments), so it's far from that horrible Christmas from a few years ago. In the end all I'm doing here most of the time is eating my mum's wonderful dishes and reading Bernice Summerfield-books while lying on the couch. My mind is free!
Well, at least until Monday, when I have to return to work in that little shithole below Berlin. :P But... eh. I'm going to worry about that later, no need to be bothered by that right now.

Mixtape of 2009!
General | Posted 16 years ago2009 is coming to a close... so I compiled a little mixtape of my favourite songs from this year. Yeah, MIXTAPE! Remember those? Admit it, you somewhat miss the hissy sound of the good old C-90, too! Well... unless you aren't as old as grandpa me. I guess.
Anyway, here's the tracklist.
And here are the download-links:
Side A
Side B
Enjoy! :) Genres range from pop to rock, from dance to experimental. So sequencing the whole thing was a lot of fun. (And yes, you may take this entry as a call-up to compile and post your own mixtape! :D I'm interested what you'd put on it. :) )

General | Posted 16 years agoNow look. I think my constantly downward spiralling mood would improve greatly if I'd finally learn whether my job continues past the 31th of March or not.
Of course, it really would the best to just ignore it... not to worry and just go on, since you can't do anything about it anyway. There's simply no use in always wondering about it. I mean, everybody advices me to do so. But what I can do when my subconscious thinks otherwise and bullies me with annoying dreams about losing the job, taking exams, having job interviews and so on, night in and night out. It is quite frankly exhausting.

General | Posted 16 years agoI think I should use this journal-thingy more often... even when it means I'll have to do some crossposting with my LJ. I know that some of you have me your LJ-flist... but I also know that you rarely (if ever :3 ) check it, so damage should be minimal. *g*
Anyway! From Wednesday onwards I'm finally on vacation for a couple of weeks. Can hardly believe it... and I think I'm going to need some time until it finally sinks in. And seriously, I don't think I could have lasted that much longer without going insane or whatever. I'm just completely fed up with demented grannies and grandpas, aggressive drunks, "I bumped into something two weeks ago and it still hurts"-guys in the middle of the night... and most of it all with a certain college, who managed to rise pretty close to the top of my list of my most hated human beings of all time (Really, I could fill BOOKS just writing about her).
A little problem is though... my bank account technically is a little empty at the moment. Some asshole on the internet somehow got hold of my credit card number and ordered loads of stuff with it, about 1.600/1.700-ish€ in total. According to my bank it's not much of a problem to get all the money back, but it's still a bit of a slow process nonetheless. Hurm. So I don't think that I'll be leaving Berlin for other places during those days. At least not until everything is settled. Maybe I'll be able to make a little visit or two. We'll see.
And after my weeks of vacation have been wrapped up in early September, birthday #30 will be just a few days ahead. Gosh, so close without ever realizing it before. It always seemed to be so far into the future until now. Do not want. :(
Besides, I should make a new avatar. Or at least redesign my draggy a little bit. Those odd ears annoy me somewhat.

Losing Borat
General | Posted 17 years agoVor einiger Zeit hatte ich mir mal den Film "Borat" auf DVD angeschafft... und da ich ihn ganz schön scheisse fand, musste ich zu folgenden Mitteln greifen...

Feeling happy and you don't like it? Move to Bremen, then.
General | Posted 17 years agoIt's really creepy to visit your grandparents after you haven't seen them for about a year. They aged so much in that timespan... My grandpa probably not so much... but it quite hit my grandmother in full scale. Well, it was somewhat to be expected after her breast cancer in last year's fall... but it's just so sad to spot a lot more wrinkles in her face... and a small hump beginning to form on her back. In fact, it's actually the hump which scares me the most.
But well... at least I finally saw them again. Which counts more than an ugly hump.
Anyway... Bremen is such an ugly and depressing city. I always thought so... and with every passing visit I think so even more. Just leaving the train station alone is really evil. All those people with those drained and exhausted faces... and those ugly buildings which are unimaginative blocks which think of themselves as fancy nonetheless. Oh dear, oh dear, I'm so happy that I don't live here. If I did, I'd probably get a depression of hardcore dimensions.
I mean... I brought my camera with me... and everything I've photographed so far was the christmas market. And when I leave the city, I'd still haven't photographed anything else. Because... there just aren't any more things which are worth a picture.
Hmm, that's life.
At least in Bremen.
What the heck is wrong with this city?
But well... at least I finally saw them again.

Bah-Bai
General | Posted 17 years agoOkay, I'll be off in an hour to travel to my grandparents, spending a few days there. And after that a petit dragon meet-up follows. Thus meaning that I won't be around in any IM-system for about a week. ;)
But you can of course still send me PMs and emails. :D And at least at my grandparents' place I should be able to check them. Although... I'm a little bit worried about logging into FA at their home. My grandma is no n00b when it comes to computers (even though she's 75 years old, how dare she?!) and she fully understands the concept of "history" in browers and so on. *lol* Ah, we'll see...
In any case... we'll see us again next week. ;)

And the beat goes on.

Go with the flow. You'll probably find something at its end.

General | Posted 17 years ago*me is cleaning the flat*
*doorbells rings*
Me: (thinking) "Eh? I don't think I was expecting anyone? Or was I?" *goes to door to open it*
Guy in his mid50s: "Good sunday!"
Me: "....? Hello."
Guy: "I wanted to ask you a question, Mr Rust."
Me: (feeling uneasy because OMG WHAT IS THIS ABOUT WHAT DID I DO D: ) "Okay? O( "
Guy: "How do you want to live?"
Me: *blinks* "Hm?"
Guy: (persistent) "How do you want to live?"
Me: (utterly confused) "I'm sorry... what is this about?"
Guy: "How often per day do you think about Jesus Christ?"
Me: (sighs) "Not as often as you do, I guess. But I also have a question for you! :) "
Guy: (delighted) "Ah? :) "
Me: "Do you love eating water?"
Guy: (confused) "Hm?"
Me: "Mowgli is my favourite character in Charles Dickens' West Side Story. How about you?"
Guy: "What?"
Me: "Wouldn't the world be a better place if the Illuminati was ruling it in the OPEN instead of doing it secretly?"
Guy: "I'm sorry... what?!"
Me: "I'm just trying to tell you in kind words to piss off."
Guy: "Oh."
Me: "Yep."
Guy: "Bye."
Me: "Bye."
Guy: "Should I leave you some brochures in your mailbox?"
Me: "No." *closes door and returns to apartment-cleaning*
That's the only way to deal with this lot.

And God pointed a finger and spoke: "Get older, once more!"
General | Posted 17 years agoHmpf. I almost got 9/10 of my 20s behind me and I somewhat feel like I wasted them on almost nothing. Because... really, what did I do in that time? The only big achievement I got done during that time was the training for my job, getting a job... and... well, I'm afraid that's all, folks. Of course... loads of other stuff happened (some of it minor, other parts of it not-so-minor), but it all was so very somehow that I really don't feel for pulling out a fat felt-tip and underline them with "Yes! Le event!"-remarks. If I at least had been a little more creative... because then I could point a claw and say "Look! I did something!". But apart from the odd short story and less than just a few cartoons and scribbles I hardly did anything. And... argh! Other people in their 20s wrote the books that shook the world and recorded albums which became huge classics. And here I was... (and still am) ...chatting and blahing, being lazy and unable to get my arse up. *growls* And I used to do so much writing and scribbling when I was still in my teens... I really wonder where it all went...
But anyway... Why whine while there's still officially some time left before The Big Three comes crashing on my head? I'm not in my thirties, yet! Well, okay... the remaining 364 days aren't probably enough to make a complete turnaround for the whole of my twenties... but they shall do.
So here's a bit of a to-do-list for the upcoming year...
1) Write a book. Or at least start one. Or even better: get as far with it as possible, so you can say that you're seriously working on one! You have more than enough ideas, so there are no excuses. All you need to do is to pick from them.
2) Draw more. And with more discipline. Really, you could be so much better if you hadn't thrown away your pencil in the latter part of the 90s to concentrate on other things. Whatever they were. Go, have some practise!
3) Get a pet lizard. You always wanted to have one. So why hesitate now? Okay, you have to save some money first... But that shouldn't be the problem.
4) ...um... I actually had a #4... but I somehow forgot about it. *scratches head* Ah well, it will come back sooner or later...
Anyway, it really isn't very much, so it should be possible. *shakes fist* Stupid 30s... bring 'em on! I'm here to fight you and your evildoing! :O
