Yes everyone, Pegasus and I broke up.

I am not as active in the furry community as I was, heck I haven't been in a little while.
I am busy with 3 jobs and being a full time student, so I don't have a ton of time to be on here or generally involved.

Two weeks ago I would have told everyone that I couldn't make it to FCN, but Pegasus proved me wrong. The feline side showed, and he set up going to FCN by surprising me! I had thought we wouldn't make it this year, so I didn't bother keeping track of when it was. So we got to the highway exit before I knew where we were going. :)

We met up with many friends that have been dearly missed, including  LaurenAshley,  FlintNightwolf,  Lana_86, Ket, and one of Peg's best friends (who flew all the way from California).

I got to get a new badge (I should see it soon!), but I didn't spend a lot on art this time.

After a little over a month, I'm back to FA. I am happy to say that walking away from drama has lead me to find more of myself and I'm much happier with who I am now. (If you don't know me personally, the rest will be uninteresting)

I have come to terms with my ideas for the future and although I don't like the time frame (I still feel like I'm trying to run through syrup in terms of getting through school), I can deal with it much better now. I am getting my business administration/marketing bachelors degree, then I will be going back to school for about a year for "leveling" classes. These classes are required to get into grad school for psychology, but I do not have to get a second bachelors in order to go into grad school for a different subject. I then will work on getting into grad school for clinical psychology, most likely with a focus on anorexia/eating disorders. My time frame looks like by next spring I'll have my bachelors degree, then I'll take the summer off to get situated in work, then 2-3 semesters for leveling classes, then working on getting into grad school!

I am also working on using natural remedies for many things due to so many adverse reactions I have to medications and chemicals. I'm not going to stop using modern medicine, just replacing what I can. For example, a solution in a spray bottle with peppermint oil will keep mice and spiders away. It smells good and only has peppermint oil and water!

I hope everyone else is doing well too!

I've been terrible about checking my FA and it will continue for a while. When your subscriptions to look through are higher than 500, it's been a while. I have no real reason to not keep up, but I haven't been.

My point for this journal: If you need to get my attention please facebook message me (yes Kara Rose IS actually my facebook) or, if you know it, you can text...blah blah blah. If I am not already friends with you on facebook you will probably get a message back saying "Do I know you?" I'm not being rude, I'm being cautious-I've had some creepers try and find me before (non FA related).

Also, although most people don't really care...LIFE UPDATE:
I have finished my first semester after my associate degrees and I'm slowly on my way to my Business administration/marketing degree. I'm happy with three out of four of my grades and I can live with my fourth. I am working about 30 hours a week (I know this is not a lot, but for a student who usually works a max of 20, I'm excited) and seeing family and friends for Christmas. I'm also slowly putting plans together for New Year's Eve, but nothing is in stone yet :). I'm happy for the break, but I'm happier to be working regularly. Then again, I like my job so I'm happy to do it.

Okay, so I'm one of those crazy people that usually have my Christmas shopping DONE by black Friday and just get awesome extras sometimes (if I feel like it). But this year I'm way behind. I have a lot of people on my list and have no idea what to get them-reasonably priced of course.
I have a golf fanatic for a father, but he says he has everything he needs. Anyone like golf and have any ideas? (special golf balls was done a few years ago)
My mom is basically a fur, without her own character. She wants a fursuit head to put in the family room once she has room (gotta love it!), but I can't afford one and she has no room.
I've already taken care of Peg, though I know he'll read this so I'm not telling ;)
I don't want to do my usual cookies and such because there are so many heavy foods around the holidays. And almost everyone I could send the "dry ingredients" to, I'd be scared for their kitchens if they attempt cooking (no Lauren, you're not included in that-you have your bat to make sure you don't burn anything down).

I wanted to thank my furry friends for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day with Pegasus. We finally got time away from everyone and everything and spent it by Lake Huron at my grandparent's cottage.

For those who didn't know (not that many people care, but that's alright), it was 9/9.

I'm happy to have been able to enjoy it without pinching EVERY penny to it's fullest. I was able to splurge a little with a new jacket and a few meals out.

My dear friend Ranthor is deployed in Afghanistan. Although he's not on one of the bases having attacks right now, please keep him in your thoughts/prayers. He's like a sibling to me! Being selfish I want him to come home safe, but I know he'll do what makes him proud of himself.

I've noticed a general lack of consistency with recipes here on FA and a few pointers came to mind.

1. write your ingredients in order of use.

Example: if your instructions say to sift flour, salt and baking soda together then add eggs, please put your ingredients list as:
(amount of) flour
(amount of) salt
(amount of) baking soda
(number of) eggs
Do NOT put the salt on the bottom where someone may miss it if they're not extremely careful.


2. Say the stupid steps.

If someone has never used the recipe before they don't know the quirks of the ingredients. PLEASE list all steps even if you put in a star and say at the bottom that you did something weird and it worked.


3. If something looks weird part way through but still worked anyway, make a note of it.

Someone who is unfamiliar with a recipe may not know something that you learned part way through. Be nice to them and explain that it looked weird but still worked!


4. list all equipment above ingredients

Not everyone has the equipment from your kitchen, be kind to them and explain everything you use (silverware to level need not be listed, that's personal preference.

A dear friend of mine, you may know him as Ranthor, is deploying this September. I am worried about him, scared for him, but most of all proud of him.

My dear friend had a baby girl yesterday (1/30/12) at 2:45. 7lbs 15 oz, 21 inches.

I'm very excited and am now attempting to raise money to be able to spend on dear little Evelyn Ann Marie.

Due to needing to raise money, does anyone have a way for me to ship my cakes? I will deliver locally (lower MI, Detroit side), but want to ship others. Please help, this is very important to me!

After shipping is figured out, does anyone want a cake? Most of my cakes will be discussed before starting to figure out a price, but I would estimate a cake at around $40, plus shipping (more for fancier, less for simple).

3. How long have you been in the community?
Actively, and knowingly for about a year and a half. I have always related to certain animals more than others around me though.

4. How did you find furry?
My boyfriend introduced me.

5. What's Furry to you?
A term used for someone who has a connection to an animal, or a few types of animals. Someone who enjoys the art and friendship from members of the community. They can draw, sculpt, build, make anything, or nothing at all. Everyone is different, so one definition is impossible, but in some aspect if you have no feelings toward animals then finding your fur identity is impossible as well.

6. What are your favorite aspects of our community?
Friendship, support, other identity...

7. Do you use any furry terms? (i.e. yiff, paws, murr?)
Usually with other furs I will say my mate, I'll purr (which I've been doing for years), simple things.

8. What do you wish furry was NOT associated with?
Zoophilia and pedophilia just to name a few. We get a bad name for a few screwed up people doing things that do NOT define the rest of us.

9. How strongly do you feel about anyone bashing you yourself for your interest based on the media's aspect of what furry is?
If I know I can speak logically with them, I will explain (and have explained) what the media focused on and explain why that was incorrect. I found a lot of people hooked onto the "Strange Addictions" episode of a fursuiter who refused to leave her suit, and they were surprised to find that I am a fur and do not have a suit at all (monetary based, but still).

10. We all know furries have a lot of sexual aspects in this fandom, What's your opinion on it?
People have a lot of sexual aspects too-bondage, role playing, and domination are not just in the fandom. Just because we do art with our characters doing this and other kinky stuff does not mean we need to be defined by it. It is what it is, just get over it.

11. What is/are your fursona(s)?
I have one fursona. Kara Rose is a wolf/tiger.

12. Do you have any fetishes that pertain to the fandom?
All of mine are rather human, but as humans are animals too and have that base sexual drive, it COULD be related to "animal instinct" but not related to the fandom itself.

13. If you could magically morph into your fursona would you?
Yes, but I would not want it to be permanent, but to be able to morph back and forth would be awesome!

14. Do you believe you have a spirit animal?
A protector spirit that is an animal, yes. But Kara has very, very little to do with that.

15. What other fanbases/groups are you a part of?
none.

16. How many of your friends are furry?
A few, but as a number of the social circles that I'm involved in (school related) are rather closed minded, I'm not sure about some people that I'm around quite often. It could very well be that I know more furs than I believe. Beyond that, my boyfriend and a few of our friends (I met through him) are furs.

17. How many pets do you own, if any?
I have two dogs: Sirius Black (yes, named after the Harry Potter character), and Shep.

18. Aside from furry what other interests do you have?
Sign Language, cake design, photography, cooking, reading, occasionally indoor rock climbing, working out, singing, social dancing (not like rave stuff, I mean waltz, cha cha, etc.)

Yes, rarely but yes. I have been to FCN 2011, and other anime cons

No, maybe sometime.

I tend to meet them first then find them on FA

24. Has the fandom done anything for you that you're thankful for?
It has introduced me to and kept me connected with some wonderful people. It has also been fun so far exploring a different side of myself and I find new questions to debate over regularly.
