If at first you don't succeed... (Drippy Jack Kickstarter)
Posted 7 years ago… change the way you do it!
We weren’t successful with the Kickstarter this time, folks, but I attribute that to folks not being able to come up with the higher-end pledge levels within 30 days– it was a pretty big ask, after all.
So I spoke with Bill Blankenship (the artist) and he’s willing to do the comic a bit at a time, with folks being able to pay for the higher-end roles piecemeal– a bit at a time.
Those of you who already pledged, you will be able to keep your roles, I ask that you send your money via PayPal to karis[at]karisplayground.com with the role you signed up for as a message in the payment.
Please spread the word about this; if you know people that wanted a role but couldn’t afford it all at once, let them know this can happen for them!
I would like to have all the roles assigned in the next couple of weeks here, so Bill can start drawing (obviously we can’t start without knowing who all the characters are)!
I’m SO EXCITED to move forward with this book. I can’t wait to see this story come to life with the participation of everyone who wants to see their characters come to life as well!

Remember THE LEGEND OF DRIPPY JACK??
Posted 8 years ago(from my website at http://karisplayground.com/remember.....of-drippy-jack )
So, in 2007 I started writing the first ABDL HORROR comic, "The Legend of Drippy Jack." The premise was a group of teens attend a summer camp for bedwetters, and start getting "bumped off" after hearing the legend of a camper who had been injured there years before.
Naturally, "bumped off" in an ABDL comic doesn't mean gore or death-- it means getting diapered. Oh, the horror!
I wrote twenty-six pages of script...
...and the artist bailed.
We had to abort the project, refund people's money, and I shelved the project. Other things took my attention- new projects with more reliable people, for one thing. And over time, Drippy Jack got forgotten.
Then last night, my good pal Seifer reminded me of it. And lightning-- that elusive, powerful force called "inspiration"-- struck my brain. And so...I resurrected all the files and started writing again.
I'm pleased to announce that, COMING SOON, I will be soliciting crowdfunding for roles as campers and counsellors in the back-from-the-dead "The Legend of Drippy Jack"!
(Disclaimer: Former cast members have first dibs on characters, so don't flood my inbox with questions about being in it just yet until I find out who's still interested.)

Artists and Obstacles (repost from karisplayground.com)
Posted 9 years agoJust spoke with Gav Heryng, the colorist for Gang Trouble-- should have four coloured pages by this weekend! I'm very excited that this project is finally coming together!
Gang Trouble is a project that has taught me a lot. At only twelve pages, (half the size of a standard comic book) I expected things to go quickly and smoothly as it was not as big a project as a full-blown book. And yet, wow! No project is without its obstacles.
I've learned a lot over the years in dealing with artists, communicating and realizing what works and what doesn't. I think I'm going to put together a "Karis Guide" to commissioning artists based on those experiences, and post it to help folks figure out what to expect (and what to watch out for!) when commissioning artists.
In the Furry community, Art is King: This means we cut waaaaay more slack for bad behaviour than we otherwise might in other situations. This has a curious effect: It keeps things on a more personable level, but it also makes things personal: Thus, when an artist doesn't deliver, it goes to a place of personal affront rather than a place of simple business practices.
I feel that we need to improve our expectations of art transactions; I've seen this from both sides of the artist/commissioner relationship-- Artists are now posting their TOS (Terms of Service) actively on their pages as a way of communicating expectations to future clients, due to having been burned in the past-- it should also behoove a commissioner to clearly express what their expectations are of the artist. Above all else, a commissioner should be ready to walk away if those expectations cannot be met.
I can't tell you how many times I've loved someone's art only to find they are absolutely horrible when it came down to working with them; the quality I had seen in their finished work did not in any way reflect their work ethic, personality, or ability to deliver. And though I craved that final product, I had to force myself to be okay with walking away.
It's my hope that we can take our current "I'll do anything for art" mindset and improve it to where we as clients can set boundaries for what is acceptable to us and stick to them, just as the artists are doing for their client boundaries.
It's food for thought, to be sure; I'll noodle around the idea of the Karis Guide some more and will post when I have something concrete.
All the best,
Karis

More...always MORE.
Posted 9 years agoMore. Always more.
That’s my approach to writing and creating comics. Since I can’t draw, all I can do is hire artists to bring the vision of my writing to fruition, but that affords me a very special opportunity:
I can work on more than one thing at a time.
While an artist works away on one script, I can be doing another. And then a second artist works on that one while the first one is still underway. So I begin another script, the idea being that, if the Universe aligns properly, I will end up with constant comics pages able to be posted.
Ultimately, that means that my readers get new stuff all the time.
My Patrons, aka those who support my Patreon, get to see it all first, of course. Let me show you some of what they’ve been seeing lately: (see "Bad Boys of Brixton County" on my gallery)
Now, let’s be clear: all of these things will eventually make it to my site, free of charge, for viewing. I haven’t changed my philosophy that Karis’ Playground is not, and will never be, a pay site.
But what you can do, by becoming a Patron for as little as a dollar a month, is help me to make the comics that you want to see. To help keep ‘em coming. And not just mini-comics, either: I have plans for two graphic novels that I want to do— yes, that’s right, long-form storytelling not limited to just one or two scenes!
One of those graphic novels will be (drum roll please) ISB #6. That’s right. It’s time for us to go Back To School to UC Canterbury, home of Ashton Hall, where furs who wear diapers for whatever reason engage in life lessons, schooling, stories and romance— in short, college life!
Also, starting today, ISB #4 debuts on my site- http://www.karisplayground.com -updating every Tuesday and Thursday— 2 pages posted every week!
But none of this can happen without your support. I encourage you to spread the word and tell people about the great things happening on the Playground, and invite you to direct them to the Patreon at http://patreon.com/karisplayground

ZOOTOPIA on my mind.
Posted 9 years agoI know everyone has already exploded (hopefully with joy) over Zootopia and probably seen the movie many times; I may be late to the party but I wanted to talk about my Zootopia feels.
With Shakira's "Try Everything"blasting in my ears, I can tell you that after my recent second viewing of the movie, that I feel nothing short of inspired.
I'm pretty grey in the muzzle as far as furries go these days, and for a long time I thought there was nothing really incredible in terms of furry creations in the world-- with a few notable exceptions like Blacksad and Lackadaisy.
But Zootopia-- god, it had me crying tears of joy. It brought me right back to the core of my love for furries, the wonderment of "Who would I be in that world?" The absolute enjoyment of character and setting, of design and creation, and the constant questions in my mind of "How would they-?" "When did those two meet?" "What did they eat before?" "Who built that?" and more.
Zootopia reminds me of where I began. Early Disney. Early cartoons. Early stories like Tawny Scrawny Lion where the bunny feeds the lion carrot soup and fattens him up. When I believed in talking animals, when I loved them, when I wanted to fly on a magic bed to the Isle of Naboombu with King Leonidas.
I want to write. I want to create. I want to, any way I can, ADD MORE to Furry the way Zootopia has. I hope it inspired you all in similar fashion.
With joy,
Karis

IT'S FEBRUARY!
Posted 9 years agoTL;DR http://www.patreon.com/karisplayground
Hello, Playground Pals! I hope the groundhog treated you well, wherever you are-- I'm looking forward to an early Spring!
I spent January planning out what I wanted to accomplish, and figuring out how to get there. I know I want to publish a graphic novel this year as well as several online comics.
There will be a new page appearing soon on the Playground: "Dear Karis." It's a little bit like a letters column where people write in and tell their diaper stories, only instead of printing the letters and responses, what I'm doing is making COMICS out of selected stories from readers! I'll edit them for size and story-- but I thought it would be a neat sort of connection to hear some of the stories from the lives of diaper people around the world!
My colorist, Levy Ramirez, has just moved to Saudi Arabia and so is behind on coloring-- for some reason, the laws there wouldn't let him bring his computer with him when he moved? Weird. So he's a bit behind on the next ISB page, which should have been up in January; I made the decision to not have another colorist "fill in" (COLORING JOKE, A-HAAA, SEE WHAT I DID THERE) for him because, when all's said and done, we want a consistent final product, not a hodgepodge.
patreon
SPOTLIGHT ON AWESOMENESS: One darling Patron last month increased their pledge to account for the fees Patreon takes out, so that the Playground would get their whole dollar amount. I don't want to embarrass them but WOW, believe me, I'm so thankful. That's really going the extra mile. ALSO, some Patrons INCREASED THEIR PLEDGE LEVEL. That is nothing short of amazing. I can't wait to shower all of you with as much fantastic diaper art as I can-- and please know that you are the ones making it possible.
PLAYGROUND STILL UPDATING: I re-configured and re-tooled the Playground website itself in January, and am busy re-uploading aaaaaalll the old content and comic pages; I have to do each one manually and with this new system, there are a lot of boxes to tick. Thanks so much for being patient while that happens.
STILL, AND ALWAYS, NEED MORE PATRONS: I would love to create comics full-time. To make them happen, I need help-- and that means more Patrons with more Pledges for more Playground! The three P's, if you will-- hey, there's a lot of P'ing around here (HEY-OHHHHHHH) so please, spread the word and direct folks to http://www.patreon.com/karisplayground ! Remember, Patrons get to see content that doesn't get uploaded to the Playground, such as some Works In Progress, some NSFW art, some art from Karis' private, personal collection, and page-by-page colored work that won't be revealed here until it's ready to be published! Come on and peek 'behind the scenes' and get some neat perks in the process!
Love,
Karis

JANUARY UPDATE!
Posted 9 years agodiaperfamilycolorHey everyone! Hope you all had a happy Holidays and a Merry Christmasy happy joyful time!
The first couple of weeks of a new year are always slow to get started; everyone's shaking off their holiday-self and routines and easing back into the everyday, and this diaperkitten is no different!
Big things are already starting to happen at The Playground: Firstly, the actual site itself - www.karisplayground.com -- has been overhauled, and the comics are being manually re-uploaded-- but the structure has improved and it will be much easier to sort through them! Further adjustments are still being made, but I think of it like this: My "treehouse" is now made out of bricks instead of sticks. :) Ain't nothin' gonna wreck my treehouse!
I've been talking to several of the Playground's artists about current projects, getting updates, and making plans for an exciting 2016. My goal for this year is to hit that magic $300 milestone-- because I have an idea. I want to publish the first FULL-LENGTH GRAPHIC NOVEL for my readers. I have an idea that I think will be fun, and read like a real adventure. I don't want to give away too much of the idea but it will be set in the 1920's and involve gangsters-- DIAPER gangsters! Sound fun? I think it does!
Gang Trouble is nearing completion, the due date is set for the end of this month! I'm very excited; it will be the first self-contained comic the Playground has done since ISB, and I think the quality is stellar. Patrons get sneak previews of behind-the-scenes, works-in-progress stuff so if you're not a Patron yet, why not start the year off right and become one?
CHECK OUT THE PATREON AT: http://patreon.com/karisplayground/
Spread the word, folks-- help the Playground become bigger and better than ever!
Love,
Karis

ISB #1 Page 1 - IN COLOUR!
Posted 10 years agoToday, I posted the very first page of ISB #1 in FULL COLOUR for all my Patrons pledging $10 or more, at http://www.patreon.com/karisplayground . Thanks to ALL my Patrons for getting the Playground up to that Patreon milestone of over $50/ month to colour all of ISB's pages-- one per month! -- thanks to your generous pledges.
Next month, I will post the page to the Playground so everyone can see it-- while Page #2 gets coloured for my Patrons, who will get to see it first. I hope that you will all consider becoming Playground Patrons, and encourage others to do so as well. Together, we can do this!
Not only did your pledges help get a page of ISB coloured this month, but new content in the form of another page of World of WETcraft was done! By reaching further milestones, we can have more new content more often, collect archived Karis comics into new books, and start whole new comic projects-- none of which would be possible without your support!
Love,
Karis

First Month of PATREON down!
Posted 10 years agoFirst month of the Playground Patreon -- www.patreon.com/karisplayground -- down, and I've received all the pledge monies-- thank you SO MUCH, from the bottom of my heart, to my Patrons. Because we've passed the second milestone, I have got my colorist working on the first page of ISB Issue One and I am SO EXCITED. I will be revealing that to my $10 and up Patrons later today.
Work on the upcoming Playground webseries "The Bad Boys of Brixton County" has begun! It's a furry webcomic about two teen boys, Jaz (a biker mouse) and Seifer (a jaguar) growing up in a small town in the 1950's, and having adventures together. Of course, the adventures a pair of diaper wearing, pants wetting teens get up to are sometimes different than other boys their age!
Also, in anticipation of this Patreon growing and growing (after Christmas, I'm sure) I have begun laying the groundwork for some new comics as well, and they include:
- New pages of World of Wetcraft
- Publishing Role-Playing Buddies in print and digitally here on the site
- A full-length furry comic about three bedwetting brothers
- A superhero short comic about a sidekick discovering his hero's diapers
- and more!
As you can see, I'm not short on ideas or product, I just need your help to make it all a reality. You have, as always, my thanks.
Love,
Karis

PRE-CHRISTMAS Report!
Posted 10 years agoHi, Playgrounders!
It's been almost a month since I started my Patreon-- www.patreon.com/karisplayground -- and I'm super happy to report that it has showed some success! In these initial few weeks, we have passed our first milestone, which is to colour a page of ISB per month, meaning that eventually, yes... ISB WILL BE REPRINTED IN FULL COLOUR!
Also, we have passed our SECOND milestone-- which is one page of new content up on the site EVERY MONTH. Yes, never-before-seen diaper comics will be published to the site in black and white.
WHAT DO PATRONS GET?
Firstly, every Karis Patron who pledges a dollar a month or more gets to see stuff before it goes up on the site. That's right. They get first look at everything.
Patrons who pledge five dollars or more get to see works in progress and behind-the-scenes stuff, meaning they get to know what I'm working on, what ideas are being developed, and to see preliminary sketches.
There are more levels, of course, and more rewards will be added as time goes on, but when you're thinking of your Christmas shopping, why not consider becoming a Karisplayground Patron and giving yourself a present that also is a gift to the ABDL community?
Of course, there is still FREE content on the Playground-- have you all been enjoying the ISB reprint pages in the FRIDGE section? One new page every day (barring weird scheduling glitches that WordPress seems to enjoy giving me, which brings me to--)
--THE PLAYGROUND IS BEING RECONSTRUCTED. That's right, one of my WordPress Wizard friends is helping me overhaul the site to make it run smoother and be more navigable. There's no rest for the wet-bottomed here at the Playground!
I hope December is an exciting month for all of you! What kid, big or small, doesn't look forward to Christmas??
Love,
Karis

PRE-THANKSGIVING UPDATE!
Posted 10 years agoHello folks!
It's been two weeks and there's lots going on at the Playground!
Firstly, the next (inked) page of GANG TROUBLE is ready for viewing!
GangTrouble0472dpiCwoissant really continues to outdo herself on every page! The character expressions, the sense of movement, of pacing-- the mark of a good comic is that you can pretty much tell what's going on even without the words! Kudos to her!!
Of course, the Playground's Patreon patrons got to see this page last week. By pledging $1.00 -- that's ONE DOLLAR-- or more per month, Patrons get to see any uploads meant for the site FIRST. And there's more rewards the more you pledge! And all of it goes to bringing you MORE diaper art.
The first two weeks of the Patreon have been very rewarding-- six Patrons, and we've ALREADY passed our first milestone. Want to know what that is? Simply this: ISB IN COLOR. That's right! Every month that the milestone is upheld means one more page of the furry diaper classic Incontinent Student Bodies gets coloured! Once all the pages are done, the plan is to gather them all together in ... but that would be telling. :)
I want to say a big "Happy Thanksgiving" to my American supporters out there, I hope next week's Turkey Day is super fun with lots of good eats and lots to be thankful for!
ISB continues to be published FOR FREE here on the Playground at the rate of a page a day! If you haven't yet read it, or even if you just want to re-discover it, it's available under The Fridge link at http://karisplayground.com/the-fridge , as well as the current run of World of WETcraft, my World of Warcraft parody with diapers and wet pants galore, and various fun things I've seen on the web or had commissioned privately for myself!
It's been a great two weeks for the Playground-- it would be super appreciated if you could all spread the word about the Patreon, and help support diaper comics and creating new content! The URL is http://www.patreon.com/karisplayground .
With love,
Karis
