Furry Convention Questions - Please Help if You Can

So most my suits i end up wearing at local meets or anime conventions because it has been always schedule wise difficult to get to one.
Anywho, my mom has seen some pictures of me in suit and has seen me in suit and would really like to go out suiting in one of my suits. But doesnt want to go to a local meet because she is a afraid people are gonna look at her as an "old weirdo wearing an animal mask". I told her no one would look at her that way but she would feel more comfortable suiting somewhere were it would be people she wouldn't have to talk to or show her face or know.
Well anime conventions i know are generally very mild in terms of profanity or shocking weirdness and there are people of all ages. Ive seen babies to 80 years, so i feel like my mom would feel comfortable there. It is appropriate for all ages.
But, if my mom really enjoys it i would probably want to bring her to a furry convention then. But, I don't know how it is in terms of age diversity and appropriatness. I dont want my mom knowing the bad side of our fandom, it honestly takes a bit of the joy out of it. And things like a man wearing a diaper at conventions im afraid may happen and traumatize her, make her feel abnormal and weird for wanting to wear a suit, and never suiting again.
So what im trying to get is. Can someone please explain the nature of a furry con and keep in mind you are looking from the prospective of a mid 50's year old women who is very open minded but very native and still has reservations due to the time which she grew up.
Will she feel comfortable? I dont want her to feel out of place or shocked. Both are bad.
