Hey all! Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything, haha. Plenty going on here though!

First, the bad news:

My parents have to sell their home. :( They built the house in 1989-1990, on the last remaining plot of land from our family. Formerly known as Claflinville in c.1700, the Claflins (my ancestors) helped found the town in the first place. Just down the road is the house where my grandma grew up. Then, what was previously next door (until another house went up in between a few years back), is where my mom grew up. Then, again next door, is where my parents built the house I grew up in. I was 6 months old when we moved from Pittsford, NY to Marlborough, MA, in order to build that house, and a year later in 1990 (I was just 1.5 years old), we moved into it, and I lived there until I was 26 and moved to my current town of Greenfield, MA.

But, my dad lost his job and has been unable to find full-time work, and at the age of 77 years old, he's kinda beyond the point where he should anyway. My mom, in her late 60's, recently had some medical issues and lost a lot of strength, and thus has been having a hard time keeping up with the home daycare she runs. Unfortunately with not much to retire with beyond Social Security, and the sheer size and expesnse of my childhood home, my parents are pretty much forced to sell their house and move to their second house on Cape Cod, where my older sister currently lives (she rents it from my parents). She will have to move her family, but they're not much older than me and can deal with moving a lot more easily, although it's been tough finding places to move to. Thankfully, the house on the Cape is already my parents' summer house, thus there won't be any paperwork or legal stuff involved, they can just move in when they're ready. My sister will move out, then they're gonna remodel and stuff, then they're gonna move in. It's a beautiful house, 3 bedroom 2 full baths, with outdoor shower, deck, living room, dining room, kitchen, and another room that's been made into a bedroom, although that room will go away during the remodel.

It also means my dad needs to sell his 2009 C6 Corvette LS3. I was really hoping he'd be able to pass it onto me at some point but that doesn't seem likely now. At least they're gonna keep the 1926 Ford Model T!





So then the good news..es!

I went to my older nephew's (lol it's true) wedding a couple weeks ago in the New York / New Jersey area! He and his husband had a very lovely ceremony and reception! :3

I just this week flew down to Baltimore, MD for work-related training. We're about to fire up a new Passive Optical Networking system where I work, the same system that Verizon uses in many of its Fios deployments. I'm a network technician, so my co-workers and I have been driving this deployment from its Proof-of-Concept stage all the way to where we are now, having just installed the head end and preparing to install over 500 ONTs.



Now, of course, one of the best things: I just (a few months ago lol) bought myself a brand new car!! :D It's a 2017 Ford Focus ST!

For those of us who love cars: It's a 2017 Ford Focus ST (ST2 package), black 5-door hatchback, with a 2.0L 4-cyl turbo @ 252HP & 270 ft-lb mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. It has an 8" touchscreen with Sync 3, Sirius XM, and Android Auto (and reverse camera with dynamic guidance lines), which is connected to a 355w 10-speaker Sony surround system with dedicated subwoofers. Recaro leather racing seats, dual-zone auto climate control, moonroof, auto-pivoting bi-xenon HID headlights, keyless entry & push-button ignition. Also has a lot of other nice features, such as driver knee airbags, inset side mirrors for very minimal blind spots, etc.

I'm super happy with this car, it's really the one I've always wanted. Yeah I miss the Mustang I had before my previous Focus (2014 Ford Focus SE), because of its big (albeit thirsty) V8 (and 3" Borla exhausts) and the sheer HP/torque it had. But it was a bigger, heavier car with an older engine and 5-speed transmission. The new Focus ST has 6 speeds and is lighter, and thus has a fairly similar power-to-weight ratio and can get up and go pretty damn quick too! But it's a lot more practical, being a 5-passenger 5-door hatchback with an actual trunk (which is more SUV-shaped, just smaller) than a 4-passenger 2-door coupe with a much smaller trunk.

* On July 21st, my grandma is turning 100 years old! We're gonna have a nice big party for her out in Rochester, NY.
* On July 4th, we drive out to Pittsburgh for Anthrocon 2018!! :D Gonna be rooming with  tylerfurlong,  ksr3, and  meldiv

* We have two available spots at the main hotel (Westin) from Wednesday the 29th, check-out Monday the 4th!

* We have a Double room, one bed is taken (myself and my mate), the other has one space (one person occupying who will likely share!) and there's a floor space for an air mattress (we will provide a twin inflatable air mattress).

* We do ask that anyone coming into the room, roommates or otherwise, is modest and doesn't overstep personal boundaries (just putting that out there!)

* Rates will be dependent on number of guests in room, and will be divided equally among all roommates.
