Progress on Episode 2, and are you a video editor?
Posted 11 years agoHello, all - the latest news from Tjira, we were able to give some of the MFF crowd a sneak preview of the dialog from Episode 2, where we really start to see Kaze's past and the road to the "Ghost Warrior" short. The reception was extremely positive, and now that the 2014 holiday season is starting to be a thing of the past, we're working on final sound work and video for E2. Woohoo!
Progress on getting the YouTube videos up has been slowed somewhat by our video editor stepping down, and we'd love to start the new year with a new video editor to help us tackle the Winds of Change: Season One arc (although apparently our writer Quinn Yellowfox is already starting on season 2.) We're looking for someone to build the animatic/slide show from the new Kaze artwork. If this is your passion and you'd like to be a part of the Kaze team, send a note to our account here and put "Video Editor" in the title, along with a link to one or two demo videos, and Corbeau and Amadhia will get back in touch with you.
Interested? Let us know!
Stay warm and happy new year from the Kaze team!

UPDATE: News from Tjira!
Posted 11 years agoIt's been a while since we've posted an update on "Winds of Change" and "Ghost Warrior," so we wanted to let fans of both projects know our current status and recent developments in Kaze's world. So we have some exciting news, some not-so-exciting status reports, and some gray news. But since we've been wanting to share the exciting news since June, we'll start there.
Just a reminder! The "Kaze: Winds of Change" audio drama is a separate project from the "Kaze: Ghost Warrior" animated series, (with Albee serving only as Creative Consultant,) but we hope that fans of one series are fans of both -- we certainly are!
Declaration Pictures ("DP"), the separate company that is developing the animated series of KAZE: GHOST WARRIOR, gave us two big pieces of news back in June that we are only now able to confirm, and here's the big one:
Ghost Warrior is going to be available on the Oculus Rift!
Really, we should just drop the mike right there, but we're too excited: every television and/or web-based episode of Kaze's story that DP produces is also going to be available as an immersive, 3D experience! Ghost Warrior will, of course, be available in more traditional media as well -- after all, not everyone has an Oculus Rift... yet! But know that Kaze's road will take him to the newest Entertainment Technologies. We'll let you know more as we know more, but 2015 is going to be a wild ride!
Secondly, and we know several animators in our community have asked for this: Declaration Pictures has made public that they intend to release their character and environment models for Ghost Warrior as "Virtual Action Figures" and "Virtual Playsets," (compatible with DAZ Studio). Right this moment we don't have the fine details of DP's licensing for use of these Virtual Action Figures and Virtual Playsets, but we do know that it will be limited to non-commercial use. Again, more information as it is made available to us.
"Winds of Change" is progressing well, Episode 1 is out of its second reading and should be released in October, and we've begun readings for Episode 2. Unfortunately one of our key staff members had a personal tragedy and will be leaving our team for a while, which will create some delays and new stresses for the team, but we still are operating within the deadlines we outlined in the kickstarter. If that changes, we'll keep our backers and community apprised.
One issue that we will need to open up for input from you, our supporters, is that after episode 2, we will need to make some changes to our art team; because of the scope and demands of the project, we may need to contract professional storyboard and comic-book artists to provide much of the work for episodes 3 and 4. A core idea of the "Winds of Change" project was to re-invest in our community of artists, though, and we know that changing that core concept will be its own conversation with the community you've helped create, so please look for a future update to bring that to the community for your thoughts.
More information soon: look for backer surveys in the next two weeks!
Best wishes,
The Kaze:Winds of Change Team

...and then some!!!
Posted 11 years agoWow! Last minute contributions to the "Winds of Change" kickstarter raised our final total to an amazing $7166 (including a few pledges that happened off-line from friends who couldn't use Amazon's payment system.) This is just beyond fantastic, I'm having to go to the thesaurus for new superlatives. Extraordinary! Spectacular! Supermundane! (?!)
Stay tuned as we have more developments :) Thank you, everyone!

This is the end--hold your breath and count to ten!
Posted 11 years agoBasically I'm just looking for an excuse to post Amadhia and Fox Amoore's cover of Skyfall, and make one last excited whoop about the Kickstarter campaign--
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EatcylsjpI
because 1) it's a great cover of a great song, 2) it's the entire "Kaze: Winds of Change" music team, and 3) I had to find another excuse to thank everyone for supporting Kaze! In three hours, please join us in opening a bottle of your favorite fizzy celebration beverage, because we'll have funded the first four episodes of the audio drama, and we're all still overwhelmed and amazed by it!
https://www.kickstarter.com/project.....inds-of-change
$5,744! I didn't know audio dramas WENT that high :)

KAZE: #WoC - final hours, SPONSORSHIPs of ep's 3-4 now open!
Posted 11 years agoThe Kickstarter for KAZE: WINDS OF CHANGE is now in it's final hours, and an entire first season of 4 episodes has been funded!
https://www.kickstarter.com/project.....inds-of-change
This means that SPONSORSHIP positions are now available for episodes 3 & 4! (Sponsorship positions are, subject to approval, announcements read before each episode like in the good-old-days of broadcast! For example, "This episode brought to you by the Dragons of Eastern Australia.")
Only two sponsorship slots are available for each episode... and at the time of this writing, there are only 8 more hours to go in the Kickstarter campaign!
Huge thanks from all the cast and crew of KAZE: WINDS OF CHANGE for making an entire first season possible!

Wow! $5200!!
Posted 11 years agoWe're absolutely amazed and delighted to see that at some point in time we ticked over the $5000 marker! The full season, episodes 1-4, is funded! This is just so thrilling and exciting :) Dozens of illustrations, CDs for both E1&2 and 3&4, and we won't have to go back to Kickstarter for four whole episodes!
Woohoo!! Thank you! Thank you so very much!!

Some audition results up--and Corbeau's latest mini-flub :)
Posted 11 years agoThe clock says 50 hours left on the Winds of Change, and we're still amazed at the success of the project so far--there was a time when we weren't sure we could make that goal of $2300, but after week one, we were convinced, and glad to be a part of a community that supports free public art and samurai tigers! Thank you, everyone! We've got one more update to the campaign when we cross the $5000 line, that'd be the CDs for episodes 3&4 and a small handful of the "Prosperous Merchant" packages for the four new seasons as well. If we end up doing that with 30 minutes on the clock, there may be another flurry of updates!
*some* of the results of the open auditions are posted now on the Kaze: Winds of Change miniblog:
http://kazeghostwarrior.com/kaze-winds-of-change/
Thank you to everyone who auditioned! There was a lot of competition for the male parts in particular, we'll keep you informed with another update when the next round of auditions for open parts will take place.
And one minor piece of news/embarrassment, did you know Kaze: Winds of Change was a Kickstarter staff pick? Neither did we! That would have been totally awesome to tweet about :) But it's true, we made Kickstarter's staff pick list on July 15 :) Thank you Kickstarter!

A quick update from Amadhia--
Posted 11 years ago
dreamsongWe are entering the final week of the KAZE: WINDS OF CHANGE, Illustrated Radio Drama Kickstarter. The first 2 episodes are fully funded. In fact we are 2/3 of the way to funding the entire first season of 4 episodes!
If you help us pass the $5,000 mark, we'll be able to produce the whole, 4-episode first season in quick succession! You'll be able to follow Kaze's story all the way up to his first trial by fire on the battlefield!
I'm thrilled with the support fans have shown for KAZE: WINDS OF CHANGE! I can't wait to bring these episodes to life!
D.C. King, the series co-writer, took my story-arc and first drafts of the scripts and just hit them out of the park! I've never read scripts as powerful as these, including scripts from the season I spent working on Battlestar Galactica.
And oh my goodness, the actors! The cast we have, is absolutely top-shelf! And the new auditions pouring in are showing amazing talent. It's breathtaking! (It is a such a beautifully difficult challenge choosing the lucky few who are going to voice the hand-full of open parts!)
The group of artists adding their vision to this Illustrated Radio Drama are among the very best Anthropomorphic community.
All this talent is going to make the impact of WINDS OF CHANGE light-years ahead of the 2004 experimental short film!
Thank you very much for your belief in this project, for your love of Kaze and for your support of ultra-independent storytelling! I can't wait to be able to share with you the results of the team's hard work!
~Amadhia
And now for something...completely different!

alectorfencer, has just launched her own Indiegogo campaign. Please take a look at it, the illustrations are amazing. The project is "Myre," a three-part graphic novel project, and it looks rich and detailed.

Corbeau, our Kickstarter publicist, also did a write-up of it on his crowdfunding blog, which is good for a differently-biased set of opinions :)

Can we make the $7000 stretch goal? If so, can Quinn dance?
Posted 11 years agoWe've been talking about this stretch goal since we pressed "Launch" on the Kickstarter--could we do it? Would the costumes be ready in time? Could everybody get to Australia for the film shoot? Can Quinn Yellowfox learn to dance? The answers are, in order, yes, yes, and we hope so, because we're going to gamble that we can make a stretch goal of $7,000 and that our writer, Quinn, can trip the light fantastic while wearing 20 pounds of foam and high-pile faux fur.
Our celebration stretch goal: a Kaze and Princess 'Bay dance video!
We hope you'll be there with us when Kaze and 'Bay take the floor. It'll be a special moment for them, and for the Kaze team. Personally, I think they deserve a happy night, because if you've watched Kaze: Ghost Warrior you know it's a long road to happily ever after...
Once again, thank you so much for making this possible! Keep spreading the word, the road is suddenly so short--then the journey begins :)

Posted 11 years agoThank you SO MUCH, everyone who's tweeted about the Kaze kickstarter campaign--

we're almost to our $1,700 stretch goal, the goal that opens up funding for lots of illustrations for Kaze: Winds of Change Episode 1 and 2 :) I'm excited by this one, but in all honesty, the most important goal to me was the $1000, "Kaze Dramas for Free on Youtube", because without reaching that level, it's no-where near as fun.
What's in the future? Well, our "OMG the campaign has succeeded beyond any reasonable expectation, $5000, will fund Episodes 3 and 4 with lots of illustrations, including big color pictures from our wonderful artists, Alector Fencer, Balaa, Bloodhound Omega and Thornwolf. That's the last VISIBLE stretch goal, but we know what the next one is. It's a bit of a surprise, except to say that our writer Quinn Yellowfox is really excited about what--or maybe who--he's going to be able to wear if we get to $7000 :)

At Anthrocon!
Posted 11 years ago
Corbeau here, and had a chance to meet up with Amadhia, Quinn Yellowfox, and Axcel. After a solid round of "hello, it's been months!" and an exchange of local delicacies from our respective homelands, we had a chance to talk about Kaze in person. I'm so very looking forward to tomorrow, the 3:00 "Kaze: A Retrospective" panel, should be a nice event--a little "making of," a LOT of "future of," and at LEAST two big announcements. I know about two of the big announcements. I don't know about the "at least" part. Kaze's changing and moving so quickly, after so many quiet years, and we've been working steadily on Kaze's next big chapter for what feels like months--and there's STILL something that's got Amadhia so excited she's shaking her hands saying "This...this is going to blow your mind!"
Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow afternoon, is all I'm saying :)
Anthrocon 2014 KAZE: GHOST WARRIOR Past & Future Panel
Posted 11 years agoHi!
Amadhia (The Artist Formerly Known as Timothy) Albee here, creator of the original KAZE: GHOST WARRIOR short film, and writer/producer for the new, KAZE - WIND OF CHANGE series!
If you're going to Anthrocon this year... stop by and get the scoop in person! You see... After 10 years, Kaze's story continues!
“I got tired of waiting, so I saved myself” - Anna Baragli (HUDSON HAWK)
Since the KAZE: GHOST WARRIOR short film debuted in 2004, I've tried to “play the Hollywood game” and secure “proper” funding so that I could actually pay the promising furry and non-furry artists I cared about, as we brought Kaze's story to life.
So close... so many times!
If you're a filmmaker seeking to bring your own independent dreams to life, or if you're just a fan of Samurais and Tigers, come by DLCC 319-321 from 3:00 – 4:00 on Friday, July 4th at Anthrocon to hear how to... and how not to pitch an Anthropomorphic, animated story for PG13 audiences and above, to Hollywood.
And... find out what happens next!
Yes! We're going back to our roots and making the Kaze feature film story as an ultra-independent production!
* Find out how to audition for episodes 1 & 2!
* Meet our new voice for Kaze!
* Hear preliminary recordings from the assembling cast!
* Meet the new writing and production crew of this all furry show!
Join us at Anthrocon, 2014. See you there!

"The Greatest Adventure is What Lies Ahead..."
Posted 11 years ago(From the Rankin-Bass "Hobbit" movie...sure, it's from 1977, but inspiring in a 1970s folk sort of way!)
Hi, Corbeau here. You might be hearing from Amadhia and Quinn Yellowfox, too.
Less than 30 days until Anthrocon, and I looked at the draft of the panel schedule to see that, yep, the Kaze Ghost Warrior schedule is scheduled for Friday at 3:00. I saw this with a mixture of terror and excitement--I guess terror is just another form of excitement, in the final analysis. I hope we get a chance to see some of you there!
It's been 10 years since the Kaze Ghost Warrior film made its debut. I'm glad to hear back from a few people that remember it fondly, and the retrospective panel at AnthroCon we're going to have a chance to get Kaze out of storage (tigers smell terrible if you leave them in a box too long), and talk about the new Kaze project and re-opening that world. More on that project in July.
For now, in the light of that big deadline, I feel like we're getting a classic car out of the garage and putting it on a race track. Can we place? Will it go forward? Forward would be good! Did we check all the oil? Does it even take this kind of oil?
Our FA banner ad goes online tomorrow or the next day. That'll be our first big sense for how many people remember Kaze and are ready for the next chapter of his story.
More information as we have it!
