Ask me questions about the comic and I'll answer them
General | Posted 12 years agoI got an ask on my tumblr and I forgot that I even had an "ask me" section! So, I want to answer some more question things because that sounds fun.
Either ask me here or go to http://kazjester.tumblr.com/ask
If it's a good enough question, I might even add it to the About page, too!

General | Posted 12 years agoSo now that overtime is coming to an eventual close, I want to focus on the comic more and the world around it. Part of that focus would go to merchandising.
I'm thinking of starting with simple plushies based off of some the monsters, perhaps even starting with Lilliput as the main mascot? Thoughts? Would it be something people could be interested in?
Of course it'd be fun to go farther than that, maybe even do little pose-able figurines or monster-themed t-shirts. Heck, not that I have time, I might even focus on finishing that card game based on the Work Sucks universe.
Thanks for any feedback! This is something I'd love to try out and see where it goes.

Support the comic with a friendly vote here!
General | Posted 12 years agohttp://topwebcomics.com/vote/15512/default.aspx
I'd appreciate a vote if you can spare the time! I want to try and promote the comic where I can, where I think it'd be appropriate.
I may try a few places to see what sticks, and heck, maybe one day find out if where it can and cannot belong.

Totally Shameless Request for Website Advertising Ideas
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm thinking, that after my busy work season is over, I'll do another advertising push with the comic. But I don't have much time to scout a bunch of places in the meantime, and was curious, do any of you guys know a good site where the comic would be a good fit to advertise on?
Things to keep in mind:
- Looking for other websites/comics to advertise on as well
- Looking to keep it very furry-centric, since Work Sucks is super-furry, but I'm okay with branching out if (see next point)
- The website/place is appropriate for the kind of comic Work Sucks is. I know advertising is all about ramming your idea down people's throats, but I still want to be mindful that my comic contains many themes that might be ... hard to digest (okay I'll stop with the puns!)
- I consider my comic having "mild adult themes" so I want to be respectful of that
If you can think of something off the top of your head, that's awesome, and I appreciate it. I don't want you to really go out of your way thinking of any place, I'm just looking for some suggestions to see what would stick!
There are many kinds of audiences out there, and I'm not sure where else the comic would stick, but heck, I gotta try and throw it out there and see where it does stick! It's scary, in a sense, yeah, but I spend so much time and work that I enjoy doing just to bring the comic out on a weekly basis, so even if I just do it for myself and to keep drawing, let's see if others dig it, too!

Moving updates to Mondays? Sure!
General | Posted 12 years agoJust an update (thought I know my last news posted this) that I'll be moving the comic updates to Monday. Just works better with my current schedule, and I dunno, somewhat thematic?
The rest of the chapter is going to be pretty fun, so I hope you guys enjoy it! I also hope I've been taking some of the feedback and working on it the best I can.
Stay tuned, and thank you all who share the comic, as well!

Why I don't currently accept commissions.
General | Posted 12 years agoPeople here and there ask me if I'm open for commissions, and I always turn them down. It's always a possibility I might open up in the future, but I wanted to get together my thoughts on why I don't.
1. I do a webcomic. It's a weekly thing, and I don't do it for money, I do it for myself. It takes a bit of time each week, and I still want to have time to do other stuff.
2. I work full time+, meaning lots of OT. After work, I tend to want to have time to myself or my hobbies. Maybe when I eventually get laid off (lol industry) I'll open up commissions.
3. I feel like I have a lot of room to improve and am just not well-known enough to really get into commissioning. I just wouldn't be able to do it for a super low rate for the time I'd dedicate to it, and even if I feel like I'm still amateur, my time's still valuable to me.
4. There are some projects I'm working on for others, and they will come before I do any commissions.
So guess that is easier to explain than I thought. Just thought I'd get it out there.
Who knows, maybe one day I'll open up? I think I've learned a lot from previous times I've done it, and commissions have forced me to take extra care into what I draw.

Miami Connection is amazing and wisdom teeth sure are ironic
General | Posted 12 years agoSeriously, see the movie Miami Connection. It will change your life and compel you to pursue world peace.
In other news, wisdom teeth are being yanked out tomorrow. Fun!
May or may not delay the comic. I already have it inked and ready to go, so yeah, nothing stops my air-based webcomic :D

Bonus Comic Update - "Life Sucks: Board Game Night" part 3
General | Posted 12 years agohttp://www.worksuckscomic.com/bonus.....hp?comic=lsbgn
New update for the bonus comic! There's not much to say about this one other than I wanted to go for a transformation montage. I'm sure the music for that sort of montages would be pretty sad.

Some Comic Related Updates and Thoughts
General | Posted 13 years ago- Thanks again, so much, for all your support. I hope I've been taking the feedback well, and have made improvements where I can. It's been a little more work, as now I layout pages and make them a bit longer, but I think it's for the best. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the latest chapter.
- Busy season is coming up again. I'm not sure I'll do a guest comic month again during it, though, just because I don't want to bisect an ongoing chapter (especially since, starting next page, the main arc of the chapter begins). Maybe once the chapter is done I'll do a few pages of guest comics, but I'll see how that goes.
- I hope you guys don't mind that my focus is so much on the comic, even in my FA gallery. I can imagine it's kinda lame to only see comic update submissions, but I've been quite busy lately, and that's all I seem to have time to do. I'll be working on more single pictures soon, but please understand that even the FA gallery does a great deal to drive traffic to the site, and allows me to hear feedback from the community. Plus, it's always nice to have a place to upload sketches or single pictures/comics.

DatoMaruko is taking commissions and I want to advertise this swell and talented artist
Dato's great at character art and draws some fantastic creatures, so if you're needing of a commission that has excellent lineart and coloring, this artist is a great choice.

What's this? A bonus comic from me? How scandalous.
And about board games? Surely I can't find any way to twist this to fit the world of the regular comic.

I got one of those Tumblr thingies now
General | Posted 13 years agohttp://worksuckscomic.tumblr.com/ <-- right here!
I figured this would be a great way to have fans ask questions, or have myself post sketches for the comic and stuff in general that I wouldn't normally post here.
I'll have to finish it up later, so forgive the boring formatting right now.

Puca-PucaA couple quick Website ideas. Thoughts?
General | Posted 13 years agoEDIT: I think idea 1 is nixed. Got some good feedback outside of the journal, too, and I think that while the comic won't have adult stuff and may have mature themes, people get it upfront, you know? I should give more people credit. They know the kind of content they see. Heck, I was put on a couple furry webcomic lists that I didn't discover til later, and they seemed to get what it was up front.
So I've been thinking about adding a couple things to the website, and was looking for feedback/thoughts on this.
1 - A content warning, but keep it super simple. Instead of a popup or message, what about just a rating icon in the upper right of the home page or something? Like, just something that says 14+, "adult content", or something? Any thoughts on the best one? I figure with the recent "drug trip", rare swearing, and adult themes (peril, possible fetish content) it would be worth to have, even if people say "it's innocent enough!"
2 - Add couple of those "top website button" thingies. You know, just to make them part of a couple furry webcomic lists? That worth it? Right now I'm part of three different webcomic listed (furry focused) and was just thinking about linking back to them in return.

The critics have their work cut out for them.

Hey fans, what's up?
General | Posted 13 years agoThis week is going to be an off-week of sorts, with a little bit of holiday filler. I'm hoping that after the break, the comic will return to full speed ahead, and even better, conclude the chapter very soon.
You know what that means? The crew has to get back to work, and back to surviving inside Zeppy.
I have a lot of challenges ahead, trying to make Work Sucks even better, but once in a while I'd like to hear from you guys.
What keeps you coming back to the comic? Additionally, what sort of stuff would you like to see more of, or at all?

A Request for Fans of the Comic
General | Posted 13 years agoI've been wondering how best to do this, so what the heck, why not be as direct and truthful as possible?
If you're a fan of Work Sucks, I would be grateful for people to spread the word over their FA journals, or tell a friend that you think might like it. I know this comic isn't the easiest to showcase (much due to content), but I'd be appreciate any help, or better, any advice on what I could do.
I'd also be grateful to any feedback or thoughts of the comic, whether it's on the website, art, story, characters, or whatever. You can PM me too, any time, and I'd love to hear thoughts on what works, and what doesn't.
I'm always looking to make the comic better, for anyone who finds themselves a fan, and for myself. Thank you to everyone who has supported the comic ever since I started doing it on FA, and onwards as I do page after page. You're all pretty awesome.
